Robert E. Momon
Robert E. Momon, 78, of 942 Stewart Road, died Wednesday in LaGrange.
Mr. Momon, born June 9, 1924 in Corsicana, Texas, was the son of the late Jess M. Momon and Emma Bennett Momon. Mr. Momon spent most of his life in Floyd County on the Wayside Road in Rome before moving to LaGrange a short while ago due to poor health, to be near his son and family.
Mr. Momon was of the Methodist faith attending Barnsley United Methodist Church on Barnsley Road, Kingston, Ga. most of his life. He was an Army veteran serving in World War II assigned to the Eighth Armored Division in the European Theater and receiving several medals including European African Medal, Eastern Service Medal, and three bronzestars, American Service Medal, and Good Conduct medal and World War II Victory medal. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, gardening and being with his family.
Mr. Momon retired from Inland Container in 1981 due to health problems after 25 years of employment. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Chesley Momon and Guy Momon; two sisters, Margaret Campbell and Jessie May Dupree.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Audrey Taylor Momon of LaGrange, formerly of Wayside Road in Rome; a son, Robbie E. Momon and wife Honey H. Momon of LaGrange; a daughter, Sheilah M. Caton and husband, Jeff Caton of Harleysville, Pa.; four granddaughters, Elizabeth Pantaleo, Sarah Pantaleo of Pennsylvania, Leslie Sebaugh and husband, Anthony Sebaugh of LaGrange, and Ashley Alsobrook of Auburn, Ala.; a grandson, Joshua Caton of Pa.; a great - grandson, Holston Sebaugh of LaGrange; a special grand niece, Rebecca Brookshire of Arumuchee; a brother, Joe W. Momon and sister - in - law, Loraine Momon of Rome; and a sister, Ruby Kerce of Cartersville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. in the Heritage Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Dr. William Camp and the Rev. Leon Smith officiating. Interment will follow in East View cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Wolfe officiating.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Jennings Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers are asked to meet Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Heritage Chapel and include the following gentlemen: John D. Brown, Max Kerce, Rich New, Roger Banks, Lewis Cornett, Felton McAbee, Scottie Hicks, and Paul Matthews.
Flowers will be accepted or those wishing can make a donation to Barnsley United Church Building Fund in his memory. Donations can be sent to Barnsley United Methodist Church, 4053 Kingston Hwy., N.E. Kingston, Ga. 30145.
Jennings Funeral Home Heritage Chapel in Rome is in charge of the arrangements.

Billy F. Young
Billy F. Young, 50, of 89 Murphy Road, died Tuesday, at his residence.
Mr. Young, born Sept. 20, 1952 in Troup County, was the son of the late Melvin Young and Agnes L. Greathouse. He had lived here all of his life and was employed as a millwright by the Southeastern Carpenters Union in Atlanta and the King Company.
Survivors in addition to his mother of Opelika, Ala., includ a sister and brother - in - law, Patricia and Charles Smith of Opelika, Ala.; four aunts, Winnie Spears and Demae Brown, Flossie Wood, and Willie Maude Brown; an uncle, Larry Young, all of Wedowee, Ala.; two nieces and a nephew; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Frank (Bimbo) Young.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand Chapel with Pastor Charles Greathouse officating. Burial will in the High Pine Baptist Church cemetery in Roanoke, Ala.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Bobby Simpson
Bobby Simpson, 58, died Dec. 24, 2002 at East Alabama Medical Center.
Mr. Simpson, born April 7, 1944, was the son of the late Emanuel and Ruby Mae Eldridge Simpson. He was a disabled veteran of the Vietnam War. He attended Faith Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy S. Tims Simpson; two daughters, Barbara Hand of Birmingham, Ala., Brandi Simpson of Pensacola, Fla.; a son, Shane Simpson of Opelika, Ala.; two step - sons, Mark Berry and Len Berry of LaGrange; a sister, Albonia Miller of Wise, Va.; four grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 27, 2002 at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Chapman officating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Faith Baptist Church Building Fund, 552 Hammett Road in memory of Mr. Simpson.
Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Bridge Road is in charge of the arrangements.

Harvey H. Veal
Funeral services for Harvey Hubert Veal, 85, of Roanoke, Ala. will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002 from Quattlebaum Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Billy Ray, Gary Baugh, Ken Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the Potash Cemetery.
Mr. Veal, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002 at the Randolph Medical Center.
Mr. Veal, a native of Randolph County, born June 10, 1917, was the son of the late Luther and Minnie Brown Veal. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Potash Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Verna Fincher Veal of Roanoke; two daughters, Mary Jewell Smith and Elsie Wilson, both of Roanoke, Ala.; a son, Gerald Veal of LaGrange; three sisters, Betty Miller, Florence Chase, and Libby Lowery, both of Roanoke; four brothers, Junior Veal, Monroe Veal, Carvey Veal, and Sam Veal, all of Roanoke; nine grandchildren; and 15 great - grandchildren.
Pallbearers were, Jason Veal, Tommy Messer, Ricky Veal, Frank Wilson, Virgil Veal, and Randall Miller.
Quattlebaum Funeral Home in Roanoke is in charge of the arrangements.

Imogene N. Evans
Imogene Norris Evans, 80, of Greenville, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002 at West Georgia Medical Center.
Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002 at Greenville United Methodist Church according to Cox Funeral Home in Manchester.
Mrs. Evans, born January 21, 1922 in Meriwether County, was the daughter of Howard and Mackie Sartain Norris. She was a retired office manager with the Georgia Department of Revenue and was a member of Greenville United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Evans was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Past Grand Representative of Oregon in Georgia, Past Matron, Stephens Chapter #399, Manchester, Past Matron Miriam Chapter #32, LaGrange; and Past Grand Chapter Heart of Gold Session Appointee.
Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her husband, William Evans; two brothers, Buddy Norris and Wallace Norris, and a sister, Lura Snyder.
Survivors include a sister - in - law, Emily Head of Greenville; two nieces, Theresa Norris of Greenville, Lura Jane Teal of Seale, Ala.; two nephews, Billy Norris of Greenville and Larry Norris of Tyrone; several great - nieces, great - great - nieces, and a great - great - nephew.
Contributions in memory of Mrs. Evans may be made to Greenville United Methodist Church or Trinity United Methodist Church in LaGrange.

Caleb T. Davenport
Caleb Trenez Davenport of 956 Mason Street, died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Caleb was born Sept. 7, 2002 in LaGrange.
Survivors include his parents, Calvin and Elizabeth Hightower Davenport of LaGrange; brother, Calvin Davenport Jr.; maternal grandparents, Fannie Hightower and Walter McGhee of Pine Mountain; paternal grandparents, Ebenett and Alma Davenport of LaGrange; great - grandmother, Emma Lou Nelson of Pine Mountain; aunts, Victoria Hightower and Sonja Hightower; uncles, Gregory Nelson, Victor (Jabonna) Davenport, and Ebenett Davenport Jr., and other relatives.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Southview Cemetery. Brother Anthony Hixon will officiate.
The family will be at their home at 956 Mason Street.
A service by Mackey - Wilson - Jennings Funeral Home.

Amos Ward
Amos Ward of 100 Royal Court died Friday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Ward was a native of Troup County and son of the late Otis and Josephine Ward.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mattie Burden Ward; a daughter, Jeanne Davidson; five brothers, Charlie Ward of Kinston, N.C., Render Ward and Leroy Ward of LaGrange, Hubbard (Shirley) Ward of West Point, and Kenneth (Cheryl) Ward of Powder Springs; four sisters, Mrs. Bethalene Tubbs of Upsilanti, Mich., Mrs. Kathlene (Theatis) Lucas of LaGrange, Mrs. Shirley (Winston) Carter and Mrs. Ruby Shepherd of LaGrange; an aunt, Mrs. Mary Maddox; four stepchildren, Joanne Harris of Fresno, Calif., Marcia Gray of Hogansville, Gerald Burden of LaGrange, and Darry Burden of Powder Springs; and a granddaughter, Shatavnia Davidson.
Funeral services will be Monday at noon at Thankful Baptist Church on Cannonville Road with the Rev. C.A. Black officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at their home and at West Georgia Mortuary this evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
West Georgia Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Carrie S. Brazeal
Mrs. Carrie S. Brazeal of 581 Bartley Road died Saturday at Twin Fountains Nursing Home.
Mrs. Brazeal was born in Chambers County, Ala. and was the daughter of the late Henry Eugene and Emma Dean Lanier.
She had lived here most of her life, was retired from West Point Pepperell and was formerly employed by Burger King on Commerce Avenue. She was a member of Welcome Baptist Church where she taught Adult Ladies Sunday School.
Survivors include one son and daughter - in - law, Sammy and Patti Brazeal, of LaGrange; one brother and sister - in - law, Tom and Mildred Lanier, of Acworth; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Brazeal, and several sisters and brothers.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Chapel with the Rev. Bill Pemberton officiating. Burial will be in Meadoway Gardens.
The family will be at the home of her son and daughter - in - law, Sammy and Patti Brazeal, at 41 Race Track Road. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9.

Drexler Sewell
Drexler Sewell, 10, of Head Homes in Hogansville, died Thursday in Atlanta. He was a fourth grade student at Mountville Elementary School.
He is survived by his father, Donald Sewell; mother Carolyn Johnson; brother, Calrico; and sister, Dianne.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul AME Church in Hogansville with the Rev. J.C. Tate officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Thrash and Sons Funeral Home at 117 Main St. in Hogansville.

Clarence L. Fincher
Clarence Luther Fincher, 72, of LaGrange, died Thursday.
Mr. Fincher, born April 9, 1930, in Randolph County, Ala., was the son of the late Dewey and Lauzie Johnson Fincher. He served in the United States Air Force, during the Korean Conflict.
In 1986, he opened LaGrange Honda and owned several car dealerships in the New Jersey area. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Geraldine Thompson of LaGrange; four brothers, Clyde Fincher of Fayetteville, Handley Fincher of Morganton, N.C., Johnnny Fincher of Fayetteville, and Jimmy Fincher of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Earline Fincher; and two sisters, Erma Vollenweider and Lorene Hobbs.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002 in the chapel of Striffler - Hamby Mortuary with the Rev. Charles Chapman officiating. Entombment will follow in the Shadowlawn Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
