Mrs. Mary B. Darden
Mrs. Mary Boone Darden, 86, of Hogansville, died Thursday at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
Mrs. Darden, born February 9, 1916, in Bryson City, N.C., was the daughter of the late John Mark and Ernestine Conley Boone and was a graduate of Greensboro College in Greensboro, N.C.
Mrs. Darden had lived in Hogansville most of her life and retired as a junior high school teacher from the Hogansville School System after serving as a teacher for 40 years.
Mrs. Darden was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hogansville, where she has been a member of the choir and had been active in the United Methodist Women and the Quilters Guild. She was a member of the Green Bough Garden Club and was the wife of the late Welborn Orr (Buck) Darden.
Survivors include a son and daughter - in - law, Ned and Melba Darden of Milton, Fla.; a granddaughter, Heather Darden of Orlando, Fla.; and a grandson, Andrew Darden of Milton.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church of Hogansville. The Revs. Marion Shivers and Helen Henry will officiate. Interment will be in the Corinth Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Saturday at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home.

Robert L. Huguley
Robert Lewis Huguley, 49, of St. Paul, Minn., died Oct. 25 in St. Paul.
Mr. Huguley, a native of Lafayette, Ala., was the son of the late Roy Huguley. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his parents, Annie and James Williams; two brothers Roy Huguley Jr. and Reginald Huguley, both of LaGrange; four sisters, Mrs. PatHaria (Ronnie) Williams, Dorothy Truitt and Min. RoseMary (Jerry) Smith, all of LaGrange and Mrs. Tammie (Reginald) Davis of Augusta; his grandfather, Raymond Heard of Detroit; his grandmother, Mrs. WillieMae (O.D.) Wright of Alabama; and several other relatives.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Confidence Missionary Baptist Church. Min. RoseMary Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of his mother at 804 Murphy Ave.
West Georgia Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

Ethel Mae Maddox
Mrs. Ethel Mae Maddox, 94, of 1108 Murphy Ave., died Monday at Florence Hand Home.
Mrs. Maddox, born May 19, 1908 in Sewell, Ala., was the daughter of the late Henry and Laura Calhoun. She was a devout Christian, loving mother, wife and grandmother.
Her life was a testimony and inspiration to all. She was a very active member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church most of her adult life.
Survivors include three daughters and sons - in - law, Linda and Rufus Brown of LaGrange, Dot Conner Kirst and her husband, Morris Kirst of Lodi, Calif, and Ruth and Harry Burris of Columbia, Ill.; a son, Jimmy Maddox of LaGrange; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Steven Brown and Diana Butler, both of LaGrange Scott Brown of Hickory, N.C., Debbie Barbeau of St. Louis, Mo., Charlotte and Bill McMahan and Sandy Burris, all of Columbia, III., and Charles and Susan Maddox of Pine Mountain; eight great - grandchildren, Ryan McMahan, Christopher McMahan, Brandon Runyon, Lindsey Runyon of Columbia, III., Shane and Rachelle Butler of West Point, Crystal and Will Bailey of LaGrange, and William Maddox and Adam Maddox of Pine Mountain; two great - great - grandchildren, Jordan Butler, Casey Butler of West Point; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Sikes of Wedowee, Ala.; a brother, Crawford Calhoun of Woodland, Ala., and a daughter - in - law, Pearl Maddox. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Maddox, two grandchildren, Alan Conner and Ginger Conner, a brother, Jesse Calhoun, two sisters, Bertha French and Lela Gosdin.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Olin White, Charles Chapman and Brandon Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

Lurlene S. Hendrix
Funeral services for Mrs. Lurlene Spradlin Hendrix, 80, of Franklin and formerly of Grantville will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lighthouse Tabernacle of Jesus Christ in Hogansville. The Revs. Robert Longshore and David Simmons will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening and Thursday at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home.

Roy 'Pa Pa' Darden
Roy E. Darden 'Pa Pa', 86, died Tuesday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Darden, born July 16, 1916, in LaGrange, was the son of the late Charlie and Mollie Darden. He was a typesetter for the LaGrange Daily News for a number of years prior to his retirement.
Survivors include two granddaughters, Sandra Hill, Janice and Greg Parmer, a daughter, Linda and George Teaver, all of LaGrange; a brother, Harold Darden of Athens; a sister, Lucille Newson of Waynesville, N.C.; 10 other grandchildren; several great - grandchildren and great - great - grandchildren; special friends, Evelyn Stewart and family, Monica Rogers and Cortney, the staff of ICU at West Georgia Medical Center; and several nieces and nephews. Alice Hill Darden, his wife of 53 years, three children, Johnnie Bible, Verlon Bible, Louise Janney and a great - grandchild, Jeremy Hill, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Loyd Presbyterian Church with Dr. Tony Dean and Dr. Greg Darden officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 to 8. Flowers will be accepted or donations to Loyd Presbyterian Church in memory of Mr. Darden.
Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Bridge Road, is in charge of arrangements.

Lucile 'Smith' Jones
Maggie Lucile 'Smitty' Jones, 96, died Monday at Christian City Convalescent Center, Union City.
Mrs. Jones was the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith. She was born and raised in the Salem Community near Pine Mountain (Chipley), Ga.
Mrs. Jones had lived most o her adult life in Atlanta for 78 years. and was a charter and active member of the Jackson Hill Baptist Church in Druid Hills where she lived.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Frances Thomas of Decatur; a brother, DeWitt Paul Smith of Atlanta; five nephews; four nieces, and many great - great nieces and nephews.
Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 4:30 p.m in the Salem United Methodist Church cemetery with her great nephew, Marc Smith of Fayetteville officiating.

Matsy Deal
Martha 'Matsy' Rushing Deal, 95, died Saturday in Altera Nursing Home, Savannah under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc.
This lovely lady devoted her life to the advancement and appreciation of music. Mrs. Deal was also known as the 'Daffodil Lady' for the daffodils on her hill graced many tables in LaGrange throughout the years.
Mrs. Deal began her teaching in LaGrange at the Harwell Avenue Elementary School when her husband William J. Deal was hired to direct the band and chorus at LaGrange High School. Together they built their life in LaGrange around a love of music.
Mrs. Deal later became the music teacher and librarian at Hollis Hand School, where she was honored for her contribution to music in the schools. She was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange, a charter member of the Symphony Association Board, a charter member of the Board of the Lafayette Society for Performing Arts, the LaGrange Women's Club and many years on the board of the Board of Mutual Concert Association.
Many in LaGrange say that they love music today because of their contact with Mrs. Deal. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Deal.
She is survived by sisters, Willa R. Smith of Eustis, Fla., and Mary R. Hammock; a brother, Neil W. Rushing, both of Savannah; as well as many loving nieces and nephews and their children.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Eastside cemetery in Statesboro with the Rev. Dwyn Mounger officiating. Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel is in charge of these services.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 at the First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange with Dr. Bill Conine and Dr. Harry Daniel officiating.
Remembrances may be made to First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange, William J. Deal Scholarship Fund, c/o Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, Ga 30460 or Hospice Savannah, Inc., P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, Ga 31416.

Mrs. Lola Jo Crowe
Mrs. Lola Jo Crowe, 85, of 2731 Hamilton Road, died Monday at her home.
Mrs. Crowe, born April 15, 1917 in Milton County, was the daughter of the late John Robert and Chloe Brumbeloe Dudley.
Mrs. Crowe was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Mrs. Crowe and her late husband owned and operated D & D Lighting on Hamilton Road for over 30 years.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Dawn and Matthew Awtrey of Franklin; a son and daughter - in - law, David and Wanda Crowe of Pine Mountain; two granddaughters, Rebecca Crowe and Jessica Crowe, both of Pine Mountain; two grandson, Jonathan Awtrey and Justin Awtrey, both of Franklin; brothers - in - law and sisters - in - law, Tommy and Reba Crowe, Gene and Barbara Crowe, Walter and Rachel Crowe, and Bobby and Jean Crowe, all of LaGrange; sisters - in - law and brother - in - law, Lois Nobles and Leila and Carl Hill, all of LaGrange and Lucille Wilson of Loganville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie (Chuck) Crowe and a grandson, Jason Herren.
Funeral services will be at Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand Chapel with Dr. Colin Dacus officiating. Burial will be in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery.
The family will be at her home, 2731 Hamilton Road and will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the building fund of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Corris Truitt
Corris Truitt of 20 Fulton St., died Wednesday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Truitt, a native of Troup County, was the son of the late Charlie and Georgia Truitt. He retired from the Dunson Division of West Point Pepperell and was a former driver for Friendly Cab Company. He was an ordained deacon and former member of Mt. Zion and Solomon Grove Baptist Churches and was a founding member of Evening Star Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children, Dorothy and Bennie Robinson of Arlington, Va., Agnes Rice of Willingboro, N.J., Lillian Floyd of Dayton, Ohio, Marion and Johnny Brown of Riverdale, and James Truitt of LaGrange; a brother, Robert H. Truitt of Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Lizzie Lue Phillips of LaGrange; 21 grandchildren, 28 great - grandchildren, 10 great - great - grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 76 years, Lena Byrd Truitt.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Solomon Grove Baptist Church on Fulton Street with the Rev. John Tompkins officiating. Burial will be in Southview cemetery.
The family will be at his home.
A service by Mackey - Wilson - Jennings Funeral Home.
