Mrs. Dovie Bice
Mrs. Dovie Bice, 73, of LaGrange died Thursday at West Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mrs. Bice, born October 7, 1928 in Randolph County, Ala., was the daughter of the late John and Bessie Lee Landers. Mrs. Bice was retired from Duracell with 15 years of service and was a member of Hilyer Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Sanford Alverson of LaGrange and Phillip Bice of Opelika, Ala.; two sisters, Glenys Mann and LaMerle Mann, both of LaGrange; three grandchildren, Tammy Alverson and Tiffany Alverson, both of LaGrange, and Justin Bice of Lanett, Ala. and two great - grandchildren, Jeremy Prestridge and Leigh Ann Prestridge, both of LaGrange.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at their home at 123 Melrose Drive and receive friends this evening at the funeral home from 6 until 8.
Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Bridge Rd. is in charge of arrangements.

Otis W. Frost
Otis W. Frost, 86, of LaGrange died Thursday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Frost, born June 8, 1916 in Randolph County, Ala., was the son of the late Frank and Della Strickland Frost. He had lived in LaGrange for the past 65 years and was retired from the Lanier plant of West Point Pepperell. He was a charter member of Oakside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Naomi Frost of LaGrange; three daughters, Sherba Cunnane of Lawrenceville, Ramona Laws - Nelms of McDonough and Lana Duffell of Logansville; seven grandchildren, Kevin Cunnan, Shana Cunnane, Shelly Bogan, Zack Laws, Michelle Barnett, Stacey McKinney and Natalie Toney; seven great - grandchildren; brother, Kermis Frost of Lakeland, Fla., and several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Zelda Jones of LaGrange. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Letha Prescott, Mrs. Unice Gross and Mr. J.T. Frost.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Oakside Baptist Church with Dr. Ralph A. Taylor, the Rev. Stan Miller and the Rev. Mike Bassett officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The body will be at the church on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour at 2 p.m.
The family will be at their home and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 until 9.
Flowers will be accepted, or those desiring may make contributions to WOAK radio in memory of Mr. Frost.

William D. Carley Sr.
William D. (Bill) Carley Sr., 74, of 923 Malibu Drive, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Carley, born October 17, 1927 in LaGrange, was the son of the late John A. and Emily Wisdom Carley. He had lived in LaGrange most of his life, attended LaGrange public schools and graduated from LaGrange High School in 1945.
Mr. Carley was a retired grocer, having worked for Kroger, Safeway and Publix. He was formerly employed by Black Diamond Transportation as a medical transporter. He attended New Community Church and was a veteran of the United States Navy and Army.
Survivors include his long time companion, Mrs. Annie Belle Payne of LaGrange; two sons and daughters - in - law, William D. Jr. and Linda Carley of Longwood, Fla., and John S. Carley of LaGrange; two daughters and son - in - law, Emily M. French of Suwanee, Ga., and Doris and Steve Atchley of Columbia, S.C.; brother and sister - in - law, John W. and Ulli Carley of Carmel, Calif.; brother - in - law, Bruce Deakin of Newnan; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Fran Deakin.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 7 in the chapel of LaGrange College with The Rev. Stan Bryan officiating.
The family will receive friends after the memorial service at the LaGrange College Chapel.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice LaGrange in memory of Mr. Carley.

Myrtle H. Garvey
Graveside services for Mrs. Myrtle H. Garvey, 79, of Eufaula, Ala. will be Monday, July 8 at 10 a.m. (EDT) at Fort Benning Cemetery. The military chaplain will officiate with Kent Funeral Home of Eufaula directing.
Mrs. Garvey, died Wednesday, July 3 at her residence after a lengthy illness. Born February 18, 1923 in Warm Springs, she was the daughter of the late John and Evie Burnham Hudson.
Mrs. Garvey had lived in the Eufaula area from 1981 until 1995 and returned in 1998 until the present time. She had previously lived in the Columbus area.
Survivors include her husband, Victor Garvey of Eufaula, Ala.; a son, Victor Garvey Jr. of Gaston, N.C.; two daughters, Rosemary Welsh of New Mexico, and Linda Garvey of Eufaula; sister, Ruby Carroll of Waco, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great - grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest that donations be made to Wiregrass Hospice of Eufaula, 1347 S. Eufaula Ave., Suite B, Eufaula, Al. 36027.
Kent Funeral Home of Eufaula is in charge of arrangements.

Raymond B. Hamby
Raymond Benton Hamby, 77, died Wednesday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Hamby, born January 10, 1925, in Tallapoosa County, Ala., was the son of the late Esaw Eli and Roselle Fulsom Hamby. He was retired from Milliken and Company.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Hamby.
Graveside services will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens at 2 p.m. Friday. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Bridge Road is in charge of arrangements.

Micheal Hannah
John Micheal Hannah, 47, of 3069 Salem Road, Pine Mountain, died Monday at his home.
Mr. Hannah, born May 22, 1955 in LaGrange, was the son of Mr. Walter G. (Bonnie) and the late Patricia Yvonne Landreth Hannah. He was a member of Peachtree City Church of God, was a 1972 graduate of Troup High School and was employed at Bartley Electric.
Survivors in addition to his father, include his wife, Dona Hannah of LaGrange; three stepdaughters, Magan DeMarsh, Stacy Wray, and Stephanie Huggins; three step - grandchldren, Lindsey Wray, Demi Wray, and Taylor Wray, all of Newnan; and several aunts and uncles including, Ann and Don Walter of Columbus.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will be at their home, 3609 Salem Road, Pine Mountain, Ga.

Mrs. Charlotte Moore
Mrs. Charlotte Walker Moore went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 29. Mrs. Moore was one of eight children, born to J.A. Walker Sr. and Myrtle Pentecost Walker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaines Moore, brother, Graydon Walker; sisters, Beryl Bozeman and Erlene Smith.
In early married life, Mrs. Moore was employed at Atlanta Casket Company for many years. Following the death of her husband, she became a resident of Heard County residing at 13055 United States Highway 27 and worked for 'Baby Clothes' in Franklin, Ga., where she had lots of good friends.
Mrs. Moore had a deep compassion for loved ones, and became caretaker for brother Graydon Walker and sister Beryl Bozeman. In her declining years, she was lovingly cared for by nephew, Bill and Anne Walker and niece Betty Jo Walls of LaGrange. As her health declined further, she relocated to Lakeland, Fla., to spend her remaining years with her sister, Erlene and nieces, Nelda Reis and Cheryl Cook, where she was lovingly cared for until her homegoing.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 5 at 11 a.m. in the Stutts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Talmadge Chandler officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot in Bowdon, Ga.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Robert B. Word
Graveside services for Robert Bernard Word will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley, Ala.
Mr. Word, 59, died at his home on Mobile Bay, Sunday, June 30. He was a mechanical engineer with degrees from Auburn University and LaGrange College.
Survivors in addition to his mother, Dorothy C. Word, include his wife, Elizabeth 'Joy' Word; three daughters, Leslie Richmond, Suzanne (Spencer) Davis, and Amanda Gay, all of Fairhope, Ala.; grandchildren, Robert Richmond, Emily Gay, Joseph Latour, Dylan Gay and Joy Davis, all of Fairhope; sister, Dianne (Robert) Neibling of Gulf Shores, Ala.; brother, Brigadier General (RET) Charles E. (Helen) Word of Montgomery, Ala.; and an aunt, Marjorie (William) Harrison of Mobile, Ala.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Mobile Bay Watch, 3280 Dauphin St., Mobile, Ala. 36606.
Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley, Ala., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor
Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor, 74, of Alpharetta, died June 30. She was very active and held offices in the Georgia Genealogical Society.
Survivors include her husband, Hardy Samuel Taylor; daughter, Stephanie F. Taylor, both of Alpharetta; a son and daughter - in - law, Zachary and Mary Ellen W. Taylor of LaGrange; son, Jeffrey W. Taylor of Alpharetta; grandchildren, Zachary W. Taylor and Mary Elizabeth Taylor, both of LaGrange; brothers - in - law and sisters - in - law, Bettye Jane and Harold Myers and Joan and Gene Roberts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Myrtice Haulbrook of Ocilla and a son, Hardy S. Taylor Jr.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Northside Chapel Funeral Directors. The Rev. James E. (Bud) Sutton will officiate. Private interment services will be at Arlington Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12 to 2 at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors, Roswell/Alpharetta 770 - 645 - 1414.

Elbert E. Allen
Funeral services for Elbert Eugene (Gene) Allen, 69, of Brooks and a former resident of Hogansville will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. Dr. Jimmy Brown will officiate. Interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 tonight.
