Bernard Walker Whitsett
Bernard Walker "Bernie" Whitsett, age 65, of McDonough, Georgia died August 23, 2006. Mr. Whitsett was born
December 12, 1940 in Brown Summit, North Carolina, the son of the late Dorthula Thacker and Fred Whitsett. He served his country in the U.S. Army for 20 years and then another 20 years with Civil Service. He was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division, having served two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the Buffalo Soldiers, the Dark Horse Motorcycle Club, and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Eudora Holland Whitsett of McDonough; children, Adrian and Ann Burney of Virginia Beach, Virginia, LaTonya James and Russell Jefferson of Smyrna, LaDora Whitsett of Stockbridge; three grandchildren; brothers, James and Almeta Whitsett, Dewey and Ora Whitsett, Bobby Whitsett; sisters, Christine Cobb, Yvonne Petty, Mildred and Henry Hodge, Brenda and Ron Brown, Diane and Boris Chavis; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held August 27 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Chauncey Newsome officiating. Interment Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park, with full military honors. Haisten Funeral Home of McDonough in charge of arrangements.
Thelma Oree Jeffares Patrick
Thelma Oree Jeffares Patrick, age 87, of McDonough, Georgia died August 23, 2006. Mrs. Patrick was born
in McDonough, the daughter of Jessie W. and Elon Hunt Jeffares. She was a life-long resident of the Henry County area. She was a long time employee of the Georgia Department of Transportation and a part time employee of Sears Roebuck and Company. She was an excellent seamstress, cook and enjoyed working in her flower garden. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clements Combs Patrick, Sr.; and son, Jimmie Michael Patrick.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Anne Patrick of McDonough, Clem and Melissa Patrick, Jr. of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Laurie and Jim Melton of Lakeland ,Florida, Lisa and Tim Garrett of Daytona Beach, Florida, Dorian and Eric Nerenberg of White Plains, New York, Curt Patrick of Atlanta, Chad and Sabrina Patrick of Locust Grove, Michele and Chris Clanton of Newnan, and Caitlin Patrick of Jonesboro; daughter-in-law, Lona T. Patrick of Florida; brother-in-law, Sidney L. Patrick of Lakeland, Florida; sisters-in-law, Barbara Patrick Bowers of Atlanta, Wylena Patrick McKibben of Tampa, Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were held August 26 at McDonough City Cemetery, with Dr. Robert W. Brown officiating. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Barbara Lee Elliot
Barbara Lee Elliot, age 66, of McDonough, Georgia died August 26, 2006. Mrs. Elliot was born
January 26, 1940 in Ft. Kent, Maine, the daughter of the late Neil and Elise Michaud.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bill Elliot of McDonough; children, Bob and Susan Elliot of Eugene, Oregon, Debbie and Stephen Hunter of Wantagh, New York, Michelle Fidler of McDonough; grandchildren, Andrea Elliot, Neil Elliot, Nicole Hunter, Marissa Fidler, and Marc Fidler.
Services were held August 29 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mrs. Elliot. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Margaret Schoonover
Margaret Schoonover, age 69, of Stockbridge, Georgia died August 14, 2006. Mrs. Schoonover was born
July 20, 1937, in Weiden, Germany, the daughter of Karl and Margareta Baumler.
She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Robert W. Schoonover of Stockbridge; brother, Werner Egeter of Weiden, Germany; sisters, Rosalinde Schalwig and Irene Lange, both of Weiden, Germany, Renate Mueller of Lichtenfels, Germany; and many family and friends who will always remember her fighting spirit and her positive outlook as she battled cancer for over 6 years.
Services were held August 23 at Horis A. Ward’s Fairview Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was held at Earthman – Resthaven Funeral Home in Houston, Texas on August 24. Interment Hunter Cemetery
in Rockport, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hunter Cemetery

George Aaron Harris, Sr.
George Aaron Harris, Sr., age 61, of McDonough, Georgia died August 14, 2006. Mr. Harris was born
December 12, 1944 in Ashville, North Carolina, the son of the late Rayford Allison and Ralph Harris. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather and member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his children, Aaron and Monika Harris of Spartansburg, South Carolina, Travis and Tracy Harris of Greensville, South Carolina, Kimberly Harris of McDonough; sisters, Irma DeBord of Knoxville, Tennessee, Delores Hinkleman of Annapolis, Maryland; grandchildren, Chris, Phillip, Lindsey and Billy Harris.
Services were held August 17 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Pastor David Riley officiating. Interment Ozias Church Cemetery. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Michael Anthony Fraser
Michael Anthony Fraser, age 70, of Hampton, Georgia died August 14, 2006. Mr. Fraser was born
July 21, 1936 in Denver, Colorado, the son of the late Mildred Margaret Williams and John Burr Fraser. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring after 20 years as an E-8. He was a very patriotic and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Fraser; and a daughter, Crystall Pollard.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Pollard-Fraser of Hampton; children, Deloris Lynn Fraser of North Carolina, Kimberly Wickland of Arizona, Michael John Fraser of California, Chuck Fraser of California, Kimberly Wilson of Oregon, Jeff Ramirez of California, Eric King of Washington , Jolene Gifford of Colorado; 15 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
At his request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Please make a contribution in memory of Mr. Fraser to a charity of your choice. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Lillian Louise Teixeira
Lillian Louise Teixeira, age 85, of Stockbridge, Georgia died August 14, 2006. Mrs. Teixeira was born
December 15, 1920 in Spokane, Washington , the daughter of the late Betty Larson and Harry Hershey Higgins. She lived on the West Coast until age 19, when she moved to Miami at the end of WWII. She married
Allan J. Crane in 1947 and had a son William in 1949. After their divorce in 1956, she stayed single and lived in Atlanta from 1962 until 1968. In 1976, she moved back to Santa Cruz to care for her ailing mother. She married
Manuel Teixeira in 1978. Manuel passed away in 1991, and she moved back to the Forest Park area until October 2005, when she moved in with her son and family. She was a dedicated Jehovah’s Witness and enjoyed being a mother and grandmother.
She is srvived by her son and daughter-in-law, William (Bill) and Katy Crane of Stockbridge; grandchildren, Jennifer and Scott Ellis of Hampton, Michelle Amarra of Barnesville, Cullen and Janette Crane of West Windsor, Connecticut, Alex Amarra of Locust Grove; great-grandchildren, Rileigh, Abram, and Micah; sister, Kathleen Geri of Olympia, Washington ; nephews, Larry and Clay; niece, Pam; and extended family.
Services were held August 19 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Meals On Wheels, 1050 Florence McGarity Blvd., McDonough, Georgia, 30252 in memory of Ms. Teixeira. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Charles B. Huggin, Jr.
Charles B. Huggin, Jr., age 77, of McDonough, Georgia died August 15, 2006. Mr. Huggin was born
in Williamston, South Carolina, the son of the late Charles Bennett and Iona Johnson Huggin, Sr. He served in the Air Force and was a graduate of Clemson University. He taught fifth and sixth grades in the south metro area and enjoyed tutoring after his retirement. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Susie (Sue) Huggin of McDonough; sons, Charles (Ben) B. Huggin, III (Karen) of Atlanta, Kenneth Lee (Lucinda) Huggin of Hampton; grandchildren, Olivia and Nathan Huggin; sisters, Gloria (Morris) Darden of West Point, Jane (Richard) Kennedy of Columbia, South Carolina; brothers, James E. Huggin of Atlanta, John Huggin (Sandy) of Jacksonville, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Services were held August 18 at Salem Baptist Church, with Rev. Rick Statham, Rev. Dan McKay, and Rev. Bobby Swafford officiating. Interment Lone Oak Meth-odist Church Cemetery
in Lone Oak. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Mary K. Acree Armul
Mary K. Acree Armul, age 69, of Fayetteville, Georgia died August 18, 2006. Mrs. Armul was born
February 14, 1937 in Fulton County, the daughter of the late Geneva Tucker and James Thomas White Sr. She was a member of Phillippi Baptist Church, graduated from Fulton High School, and was a retiree of Atlanta Wire Works with 22 years of service. She enjoyed her family and sewing. She was preceded in death by her son, James Edward Acree.
She is survived by her husband, Robert P. Armul of Fayetteville; children, David Acree, Sr. of Pennsylvania , Vickie and Dale Rainwater of Stockbridge, Robin Compton of Alameda, California; siblings, James and Margaret White of Jackson, Alice and David Sosby of Griffin, Danny White of Summerville; grandchildren, Ro-chelle Compton of Alameda, California, David Acree, Jr. of Phillipsburg, New Jersey, Amanda Rainwater of Stockbridge; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held August 22 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Dale Rainwater officiating. Interment Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to Southwest Christian Hospice. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
