Mrs. Gayle Shirey
Mrs. Gayle Davis Shirey, 85, of Hogansville died Sunday at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Shirey, born January, 21, 1916, in Randolph County, Ala., had lived in Hogansville most of her life and retired from Uniroyal, Inc. after 45 years. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville where she was a member of the Amazing Grace Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Christine Oliver of Hogansville and Betty Smith of Hawthorne, N.Y.; two stepgrandchildren, Leslie Carney of Hawthorne and Dane Smith of Seattle, Wa.; four step great - grandchildren; two nieces; and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil M. Shirey, and a step grandson, Bill Oliver.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Revs. Wesley Boatman and Scott Crook officiating. Burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 8.

Mrs. Gordie M. Cliett
Mrs. Gordie M. Cliett, 78, of 1308 Murphy Ave., died Sunday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Cliett, born November 20, 1922 in Troup County, was the daughter of the late James (Jim) Wesley and Ola Mae Maggerson Hale. She had lived here all her life and was retired from the textile industry. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Waldrop; two sons and daughters - in - law, Jimmy and Bonnie Vowell and Haywood Jr. and Debbie Cliett; seven grandchildren; seven great - grandchildren; two sisters and brothers - in - law, Lillian and Verlice Nelson and Faye and Junior Taylor; a niece and two nephews, all of LaGrange. She was preceded in death by her husband, Haywood Ellis Cliett Sr.; a grandson, Brian Vowell, and her stepmother, Luna Hale.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Shadowlawn cemetery with the Rev. John E. Sparks officiating.
The family will be at the home of her daughter, Mary Waldrop, at 500 Park Ave., and will receive friends at the Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home this evening from 7 until 9.

Terrell Ben Davis
Terrell Ben Davis, 78, of 3439 Hogansville Rd., died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Davis, born July 9, 1922 in Troup County, was the son of the late Charles Ben and Lillie Powers Davis. He had lived here all his life and was retired from the Dunson Plant of West Point Pepperell after 40 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a son and daughter - in - law, Terry and Priscilla Davis of LaGrange; two daughters and sons - in - law, Linda and Bill Pace of Jacksonville, Fla. and Brenda and Larry Driggers of Tifton; a son, Joey Davis of LaGrange; six grandchildren and a sister, Elsie McMullen of LaGrange.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles W. Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Hillview East Cemetery.
The family will be at his home at 3439 Hogansville Rd., and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 until 9.

Mrs. Anne Sherwood
Mrs. Anne Nickles Sherwood, 58, of Buford died Monday.
Mrs. Sherwood was a member of Stonehedge Garden Club and Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include her husband, Donald R. Sherwood; a daughter and son - in - law, Kelly and Robert A. Bowman Jr.; a son, Bradley Stevenson Sherwood, all of Buford; a sister and brother - in - law, Betty and John Drinkard of LaGrange; and her mother - in - law, Mildred Sherwood of Chamblee.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Tapp Funeral Home at 201 Morningside Drive in Buford with the Rev Stephen Wood officiating. Burial will be in Broadlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this afternoon from 2 until 4 and this evening from 7 until 9.

Harlie Dobson
Harlie Lehannon Ree Dobson, three - month - old daughter of Edward and Bonnie Dobson of Standing Rock, Ala., died Monday at her home.
She was born January 23, 2001, in Randolph County, Ala.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include three sisters, Amber Horne of Five Points, Ala., Alisha Dobson of Valley Ala., and Brook Dobson of the Gray Hill Community; grandparents. Betty Dobson of Lanett, Ala. Terrell and LaRue Dobson of Tyler, Texas, James Smith of Five Points, and Nonnie and Eldridge Lumpkin of LaGrange; and great - grandparents, Edna Noles of LaGrange and Hilda Dobson of Lanett.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Hillcrest cemetery in Lanett with the Rev. Mike Reeves officiating.

Richard J. Hill
Richard J. (Dick) Hill, 70, of Douglasville, formerly of LaGrange, died Tuesday.
Mr. Hill attended public schools in LaGrange. He was a graduate of Gordon Military College, West Georgia College and Oglethorpe University. He was an outstanding football player and athlete on both secondary and post - secondary levels; and, coached at Blackshear, Mt. Zion, Villa Rica and Forest Park High Schools. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
His government career began as a counselor for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Department of Family and Children's Services leading to being supervisor of the Education and Vocational Departments of the Georgia Training School for Girls in Adamsville. He was also a counselor for the Selective Service Rejectee Program, and statewide supervisor with the Department of Human Resources Division of Rehabilitation Services.
He was a pioneer in the development of a cost effective Social Security Beneficial Program and an Internal Client Advocacy Program. He received several awards during his career. Among those were, Male Teacher of the Year at Villa Rica High School, a Special Achievement Award for Outstanding Service in the Department of Human Resources, a Special Achievement Award in the Department of Rehabilitation Services, an award for leadership in development and implementation of a Client Assistance Program on the state and national level.
After his retirement from the state, he was program co - ordinator for disabled person in a Supported Employment Program with the Douglas County Retardation Association until full retirement in 1991. He was a member of Prays Mill Baptist Church in Douglasville.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette H. Hill; a son, Richard J. Jr. and Alicia Hill; three daughters, Holly and Mark Williams, Melody and Jett Rich and Tracey and Doug Pirkle; a brother, Andrew J. Hill Jr. and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be this afternoon at 2 at Rosehaven Funeral Home in Douglasville with the Rev. Mike Everson and Judge William Ralph Hill Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Rosehaven Cemetery

Mrs. Sherry Pilcher
Mrs. Sherry Jean Allen Pilcher, 41, of Nashville Tenn., died Monday at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville.
Mrs. Pilcher, born March 22, 1960, in LaGrange, was the daughter of Mrs. Grace Nappier of Rome and the late Gene Allen. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Marshall Pilcher; a daughter, Amberly Woellert, both of Nashville; a son, Shane Brisky; a grandson, Devin Brisky, both of Hogansville; two brothers and a sister - in - law, Tony Allen and Danny and Penny Sue Allen, all of LaGrange; a grandmother, Vanira Norton of Rome; stepfather, Ted Nappier of Rome; father - in - law and mother - in - law, Richard and Patricia Pilcher of San Diego, Ca.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Knowles officiating. Burial will be in Hillview East Cemetery.

Mrs. Mrs. Mattie Mae Dunson of 119 Foch St., died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Dunson, a native of Troup County, was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mattie Broome Hall. She was a homemaker and a member of the LaGrange Church of God in Christ.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Katrina and Jerry Allen of LaGrange, Derrick Dunson of Warner Robins; the Rev. Roderick and Deborah Dunson of St. Petersburg, Fla., three great - grandchildren, Candace, Torey and Corey Allen; a sister and brother - in - law, Inez and Charlie Ridgeway; a daughter - in - law, Christine Dunson; sisters - in - law, Lela Mae Hall all of LaGrange; Mary and Charlie Dozier of Dayton, Ohio, and nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Dunson; a son, Willie Albert Dunson; six sisters, Bessie Harris, Gertrude Parks, Addie Brown, Queenie Ferrell, Beulah Johnson and Aurelia Heard; and three brothers, Henry Hall, Neal Hall and Earnest Hall.
