Mrs. Joan E. Tucker
Mrs. Joan E. Tucker, 65, of 104 Jarrell Hogg Road, died Saturday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Tucker, born March 28, 1935 in LaGrange, was the daughter of the late Walter and Florence Odessa Farr Davis. She retired from Freudenberg NOK Inc. and was formerly employed by the Troup County School System Transportation Department.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Tucker of West Point; three sons and daughters - in - law, Steve and Waynna Tucker, Tony and Mary Jean Tucker and Lynn and Laura Tucker, all of West Point; seven grandchildren; a great - grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Kay Smith.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Restlawn Memory Gardens with the Rev. Aaron McCollough officiating.
The family will be at the home of her son and daughter - in - law, Steve and Waynna Tucker at 130 Jarrell Hogg Road, and will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 9 this evening.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may make contributions to Hospice LaGrange in memory of Mrs. Tucker.

Mrs. Mary C. Murphy
Mrs. Mary C. Murphy, 90, of 4181 Bartley Road, died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Murphy, born April 16, 1910 in Troup County, was the daughter of the late Clifford and Mamie Toney Norris. Having lived here all of her life, she was a member of Crossroads Fellowship and a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Betty and Gordon McKeen of Stockbridge; a son and daughter - in - law, John Jr. and Betty Murphy of West Point; seven grandchildren, Darrell McKeen, Michael McKeen, Shelia Johnson, Danny Murphy, Steve Murphy, Lisa Billingsley and Dana Cato; 14 great - grandchildren and a great great - granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Murphy Sr.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary with the Rev. Charles Greathouse officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
The family will be at 4181 Bartley Road and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 8.

Jim Askew
Jim Askew, 80, a native and a longtime merchant, cattle farmer and real estate investor in Hogansville, died Monday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Askew was an Army veteran of World War II having participated in the Normandy Invasion. He was a former member of the Hogansville Board of Education, former City Recorder's Court Judge, longtime member of the Troup County Draft Board and former director of the Hogansville Housing Authority. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hogansville.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Askew of Hogansville; a son and daughter - in - law, Emmett and Cindy Askew of LaGrange; a sister, Mrs. Mary Clark of Greenville; and two grandchildren, Erin Askew and Cameron Askew of LaGrange.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church of Hogansville with burial in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to the First United Methodist Church of Hogansville or to the American Heart Association.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 this evening at the Claude A. McKibben & Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville.

Miss J. Evelyn Long, lieutenant colonel retired USANC, died Sunday in McLean, Va.
Survivors include a sister, Grace R. Long of McLean, Va.; a brother, Frank Long of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters - in - law; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Glen O. Long and a sister, Mae L. Brown.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, Va.

Mrs. Claire Malone
Mrs. Claire C. Malone, 89, of Thomasville, formerly of LaGrange, died Friday at her home.
Mrs. Malone, born August 22, 1911, in LaGrange, was the daughter of the late Jesse T. and Yula May Smith Carter. She was the great - granddaughter of the late Rufus Wright Smith, a former president of LaGrange College. She attended Wesleyan College and was a graduate of the University of Miami. In 1930 she moved to Coral Gables, Fla., where she was a classroom teacher in the history department of Coral Gables High School. She was active in the Junior Service League of Miami, the Society of Colonial Dames, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the P.E.O. She was active in children's theater and the formation of Coral Gables First United Methodist Church. Moving to Thomasville in 1992, She became a member of Thomasville First United Methodist Church,
Survivors include her children, Dr. Randy Malone of Thomasville and Claire M. Short of Lakeland, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 20 great - grandchildren; a brother, Hal E. Carter of Orange Park, Fla.; a sister, Mary C. Thomas of Utica, Pa.; and a sister - in - law, Daisy M. (Blossom) Henderson of Monticello. She was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph A. Malone Jr.; a brother, C. Alwyn Carter; and a great - grandson, D. Walter Matson IV.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Monticello Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Riley P. Short and R. Phillips Short Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Malone family plot in West View cemetery in Monticello.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church or a favorite charity.

Susan Elizabeth Smith, 47, of 708 Piney Woods Drive died Monday in Valley.
Born May 31, 1953, in Langdale, Ala., she had lived here since 1976 and was a former beautician and private duty nurse. She was a former Pink Lady volunteer at West Georgia Medical Center.
Survivors include a son and daughter - in - law, Brian S. and Stacy Moncrief; a granddaughter, Caroline Talley Moncrief; an aunt, Wauline (Smitty) Moncrief, all of LaGrange; her father and stepmother, Ranny Sr. and Myra Smith of Roanoke, Ala.; her mother, Helen W. Smith of Valley, Ala.; two brothers and a sister - in - law, Ranny (Bubba) Jr. and Patsy Smith of Roanoke, Ala., and Paul Stephen Smith of Atlanta; a nephew, Jamie Smith of Valley; two uncles and aunts, Jimmy S. and Barbara Jones of Valley and Hugh and Dot Cook of Scottsboro, Ala.; and several cousins and other relatives.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Foster officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Wauline (Smitty) Moncrief at 708 Piney Woods Drive and will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday afternoon one hour prior to the service.

Wade Farmer
Aubrey Wade Farmer, 39, of 43 Indian Bend Drive died Saturday at his home.
Mr. Farmer, born October, 31, 1961, in Blakely, was the son of Ravon (Ray) A. Farmer and the late Laura Nell Heath Farmer. He had lived her for 15 years and was employed at Palm Harbor Homes.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include a daughter, Laura Farmer of LaGrange; two sisters, Lisa Morrison of Woodstock and Lorie Bordelon of Stockbridge; and a brother, Jason Farmer of LaGrange.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road with the Rev. Gary Heath officiating.
The family will receive friend prior to the service.

Benny Lewis Williams, formerly of LaGrange, died in Atlanta.
Mr. Williams was a 1970 graduate of East Depot High School.

Donald Smith Wright
Donald Smith Wright, 67, of Dalton, formerly of LaGrange, died Saturday at Hamilton Medical Center.
Mr. Wright, born in l933, in LaGrange, was the son of Mrs. Lois Smith off LaGrange and the late Leonard B. Wright. He was a graduate of LaGrange College and received his master's degree in education from Auburn University. He taught here and in Hogansville and moved to Dalton in 1961 where he worked as an executive in the carpet industry until his retirement .
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Joan Hollis Wright of Dalton; two daughters and a son - in - law, Teresa W. and Joel Martin of LaGrange and Lisa Panther of Dalton; four grandchildren, Hollis Martin of LaGrange and Joshua, Nathan and Nicholas Panther, all of Dalton; a nephew, Mark Carter; and other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Dug Gap Baptist Church with the Revs. John Allen and Bob Bagley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 until 9 at Love Funeral Home at 1402 Chattanooga Road in Dalton.
