James E. McGlocklin
James Earl McGlocklin, 49, of Englewood, Fla., formerly of LaGrange, died Monday.
Mr. McGlocklin, born May 2, 1951, in Athens, Ala., was the son of Mrs. Aileen Sheppard of LaGrange. He lived here until 1980 movingto Florida and was an automobile mechanic. He was an Army veteran having served two tours in Vietnam and was a Prisoner of War.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife, Mrs. Marian McGlocklin; two daughters, Jami Forrestine McGlocklin and Amy Lou McGlocklin, all of Englewood, Fla.; and a son, Jesse James McGlocklin of Gulfport, Fla.
Graveside services with military honors will be January 19, at 1:45 p.m. in Bay Pines cemetery in Bay Pines, Fla.

Mrs. Essie E. Baker
Mrs. Essie Estella Baker, 98, of Woodland, Ala., died Friday at Roanoke Health Care in Roanoke, Ala.
Mrs. Baker, born March 1, 1902, in Cleburne County, Ala., was the daughter of the late Eli and Mary Ann Lott Williamson. She retired from Warren Sewell Clothing Company and was a member of Liberty Grove Congregational Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Katie Sue and Bob Rampy of Woodland, Ala.; a son and daughter - in - law, E.H. Jr. and Winnie Baker of LaGrange; a daughter - in - law, Dorothy Baker of Pell City, Ala.; 10 grandchildren, 21 great - grandchildren and 10 great - great - grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Enoch H. Baker, a daughter, Wynell Calhoun, a son, Elmon Baker and a son - in - law, Joe Dean Calhoun.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Liberty Grove Congregational Methodist Church with the Revs. Bobby Jones and Spence Steedley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the services.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Wedowee, Ala., after 2 this afternoon.

Mrs. Mildred Tucker of East Point died Thursday at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta.

Mrs. Myrtle Stephens
Mrs. Myrtle Louise Brown Stephens, 82, of 103 Alton Drive died Wednesday at her home.
Mrs. Stephens, born June 27, 1918, in Randolph County, Ala., was the daughter of the late William S. and Ida Bell Norred Brown. She had lived here most of her life, was a retired restaurant owner and a member of Southwest LaGrange Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Janice Ogletree and Suzanne Gregory, both of LaGrange, and Kathy Eichelberger of New Orleans. La.; and four grandchildren, Natalie Mackay, Jake Gregory, Steven Eichelberger and Alan Eichelberger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olin Earl Stephens.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road with the Revs. Marc Eichelberger and Charles Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at her home this evening from 6 until 8.

Wilford Cook
Wilford Cook, 80, of 426 Priddy Road died Wednesday at his home.
Mr. Cook, born June 7, 1920, in Waresville, was the son of the late Hood Erastus and Dovie Adell Adamson Cook. He had lived here since 1948 and retired from the Dixie Division of West Point Pepperell. He was a member of Paron Baptist Church in Randolph County, Ala.
Survivors include a daughter Melva Cook Cosper of LaGrange; a son George E. Cook of Monroe, La.; a sister, Mary Alice Phillips of Manchester; five grandchildren, Deirdre Cosper Greer of Phenix City, Ala., George Curtis Cook of Athensand Kenneth Cosper, Gary A. Cosper and Jeffrey L. Cosper, all of LaGrange; and six great - grandchildren, Brittney Cosper, Paige Cosper, Jeremy Cosper and Tyson Cosper, all of LaGrange and Lauren Greer and Corey Greer of Phenix City, Ala.
Graveside services will be at 4:30 this afternoon in Meadoway Gardens with Dr. Ralph Taylor officiating.

Charles Gilbert
Charles Gilbert, 78, of 135 Timothy St., died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Gilbert, born May 13, 1922, in Lee County, Ala., was the son of the late Rev. George and Ollie Rider Gilbert. He retired as a machine operator from Milliken & Company after 48 years and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Tucker Gilbert of LaGrange; 15 children and their spouses, Cecil Sr. and Margaret Gilbert and Charles Gilbert Jr. all of Atlanta, Mary Gilbert Collier, Joyce and David Dixon, Bernice and Billy Simpson, Minister Richard and Elaine Gilbert, Don Gilbert, Ruby Gilbert, Ruth Gilbert and Patricia and Justin Smith and Eddie Gilbert and Christie Gilbert, all of LaGrange, Elder Milton Sr. and Evelyn Gilbert of Macon, Alfred and Brenda Gilbert of Jackson N.C., James and Nina Gilbert of Lawrenceville; a brother, Joe Gilbert of LaGrange, seven sisters - in - law, Mattie Gilbert of LaGrange, Mattie Will Gilbert of Lanett, Ala., Linda Gilbert, Missouri Reeves, Eunice Clark and Louise Harper, all of Atlanta, and Pearl Thomas of West Point; four brothers - in - law, Willie Tucker, Cleveland Tucker, Dallas Tucker and A. John H. Thompson Jr.
John H. Thompson, 69, of West Point died Wednesday at Lanier Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Thompson, born April 27, 1931, in Georgia, was the son of the late John H. Sr. and Lillian Rachel Murphy Thompson. He retired from the Letica Corporation in Huguley, Ala., and was a member of Roper Heights Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Kaye Reed of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Pamela Drake of Oglethorpe; four sisters, JoAnne Stroud and Betty Moon, both of LaGrange, Jean Moncus of Wedowee, Ala., and Elaine Bryant of Newnan; a brother, Billy Joe Thompson of LaGrange; two grandchildren and two great - grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Thompson, a sister, Dorothy Munday, and a brother, William Thompson.
Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the Thompson Family cemetery in Troup County with Minister Don Jackson officiating.

Mrs. Sara Lewis
Mrs. Sara Loyette Lewis, 78, formerly of Pierce Street, died Wednesday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Lewis, born June 17, 1922, in Randolph County, Ala., was the daughter of the late Frank Brantley and Bessie Mae Cooper Turner. She had lived here most of her life and had worked at the Elm City Plant of Callaway Mills Company. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and sons - in - law, Aldona and Wayne Pattillo of Ringgold and Angela and Sam Dunson of LaGrange; two sons and daughters - in - law, Clyde Brantley and Shelia Lewis of Jacksonville, Fla., and Scott and Kaye Lewis of LaGrange; 11 grandchildren, eight great - grandchildren; three sisters, Stella Brown and Frankie Sims, both of LaGrange, and Mary May of Opelika, Ala.; a brother, Herman Turner of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

LeMerle Anderson
LeMerle V. Anderson, 83, of County Road, 26 Helena, Ohio, died at Medical College of Ohio in Toledo Friday, May 24.
Mrs. Anderson was born September 1, 1918 to Austin Denny and Myrtle (Myers Messer in Randolph County, Ala. She worked as a clerk at Reino's Cleaners in Gibsonburg and was a homemaker and farmwife.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of Victory Evangelical Church in Risingsun, Ohio, where she taught Sunday School and enjoyed embroidering. She married
Lewis R. Anderson, July 13, 1936, in Wedowee, Ala.
Survivors include a son, Alvin Lewis Anderson of Helena; brothers, Preston Messer and Gordon Messer, both of Alabama., and Martin Messer of Gibsonburg; sisters, Dwinneze Dunn of Georgia, Christine Spurlin, and Willowdean Peppers, both of Alabama; two grandchildren; five great - grandchildren, and a great - great - grandchild. She was preceded in death by a infant son and brothers, John and Calvin Messer, and a great - grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29 in the Nopper - Veh Funeral Home in Gibsonburg, where friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Memory Gardens in Arcadia, Ohio.
Memorials may be made to the church in Risingsun, Ohio.

Steven Todd Cavender, 29, of West Point, died Friday.
Born April 3, 1973, in LaGrange, Mr. Cavender had lived in Troup County all of his life and had attended Troup High School. He attended Roper Heights Baptist Church in West Point and was employed as a truck driver for Holliday Construction Co.
Survivors include his wife, Brandi Butler Cavender of LaGrange; his mother, Frankie Blair Bunn and her husband, Mike, of West Point; his father, Steve Cavender and his wife, Lauree, of LaGrange; two brothers, Mark Cavender and his wife, Kelly, and Michael R. Bunn, Jr., all of West Point; a step - sister, Elissa Williams, and her husband, Tim, of LaGrange; his step - grandmother, Inez Bunn of Franklin; and four nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. The Revs. Jackie Taylor and James Adams will officiate. Burial will be in Myrtle Hill cemetery in Hogansville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 tonight.
