Ronald Edward Smith
Ronald Edward "Ronnie" Smith, age 48, of Locust Grove, Georgia died September 13, 2006. Mr. Smith was born
July 20, 1958 in Anniston, Alabama, the son of the late Kitty Deramus Smith. He worked for International Paper in Stockbridge and attended Heritage Baptist Church. He was a devoted and loving son, husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Smith of Locust Grove; sons, Jason and Kelley Smith of McDonough, Jeffrey Smith of Locust Grove; granddaughters, Hannah and Madelyn Smith; father, Roy Richard Smith, Sr.; and five siblings.
Services were held September 16 at Heritage Baptist Church, with Pastor Terrell Hopkins officiating. Interment Locust Grove Cemetery. Haisten Funeral of McDonough in charge of arrangements.
Shirley Irene Bounds
Shirley Irene Bounds, age 58, of Stockbridge, Georgia died September 13, 2006. Ms. Bounds was born
April 2, 1948, the daughter of the late Walter Orr and Sally Toney Orr. Shirley was a retired Registered Nurse. She graduated from Hall County School of Nursing in 1977. Her love of life and devotion to others will always be remembered and cherished by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Christina Bounds; sisters, Janice Honkanen of McDonough, Beverly Brown of Ohio; a host of nieces and nephews; and her special companion, Lady.
Services were held September 18 at Living Way Four Square Church, with Pastor George Allin officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
William Eugene Waldrop
William Eugene "Gene" Waldrop, age 56, of McDonough, Georgia died September 13, 2006. Mr. Waldrop was born
August 29, 1950 in Lakeland, Florida, the son of the late Billie Pauline Harris and Hudson Waldrop, Sr. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era; was owner of Hudson Roofing Company; and enjoyed fishing, skiing, and playing tennis. He will be missed by his loving family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Godwin Waldrop of McDonough; children, Joseph Waldrop and Jessica Waldrop, both of Barnesville, Alexandria Waldrop of Peachtree City; grandson, Ian Long; brothers, Hudson Waldrop, Jr. of East Point, Tony Ray Waldrop of Peachtree City.
Services were held September 17 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Bradley Waldrop officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
William Donald Mote, Jr.
William Donald Mote, Jr., age 59, of Griffin, Georgia died September 16, 2006. Mr. Mote was born
September 16, 1947 in Fulton County, the son of the late Ann Beatrice Stewart and William Donald Mote, Sr. He was a minister for Bridgeway Ministries in Griffin and a member of Trinity Lakeside Church in Jonesboro.
He is survived by his son, Paul Mote of Valdosta; sister and brother-in-law, Chryle and Charles Williams of McDonough; brother and sister-in-law, Gregory and Vickie Mote of Griffin; nieces, Christy Mote and Michelle Stephens; nephews, Shane Williams and Corey Mote; great-niece, Brittney Stephens.
Services were held September 23 at Trinity Lakeside Church, with Dr. Bryan Lee and Rev. Bob Willy officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Gladys L. Davis
Gladys L. Davis, age 80, of McDonough, Georgia, formerly of Forest Park died September 17, 2006. Mrs. Davis was born
in Ellijay, the daughter of the late Jule and Paralee Withrow Logan. She loved her family, traveling, sewing, and gardening.
She is survived by her daughters, Julianne (Judy) Bussell (Randy) of McDonough, Bobbie Jean Holbrooks of Columbus; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Grace Logan Payne of Ellijay.
Services were held September 20 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Rev. Doug Lawson and Rev. David Ricks officiating. Interment Fairview Memorial Gardens. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Wayne Allen
Wayne Allen, age 65, of McDonough, Georgia died September 18, 2006. Mr. Allen was born
in Rex, the son of the late George Wiggins and Mary Winifred Moore Allen. He was preceded in death by his brother, Sammy Allen.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Allen of McDonough; son, Andy Suttles of Tennessee; daughter, Dawn Odom; and grandchildren, Jade Watkins and Ashton Suttles, all of McDonough; brothers, Jimmy Allen, and Maurice Allen, both of Griffin, Phil Allen of Morrow; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held September 21 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Mabel Orion Upchurch Lewis
Mabel Orion Upchurch Lewis, age 93, of McDonough, Georgia died September 19, 2006. Mrs. Lewis was born
October 11, 1912 in Henry County, the daughter of the late Nora Lee Bowden and Arthur Jefferson Upchurch. Her family and friends knew her as Orion and "Nana." She and her late husband were the original owners of Jake Lewis Grocery in the Ola Community. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed her family, being active in her Gleaners Sunday School Class, Choir, and a lifelong member of Bethany Baptist Church. She enjoyed the Senior Center and cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.S. (Jake) Lewis.
She is survived by her children, Kay and Carl Veasley and Kathy and Jimmy Carter, all of McDonough; grandchildren, Michelle and Matthew Fletcher of Bogart, Holly and Wes Cobb, Melissa and Earl Parker, Carmen and Jeff Brannan, and Jake and Jennifer Carter, all of McDonough; great-grandchildren, Anna, Brooks, Maggie Fletcher, Mallory, Madison and Chad Cobb, Eli Parker, Hailey, Bailey and Bo Brannan; siblings, Frances Nordlund of Peachtree City, Janie McGarity, A.J. Upchurch, Jr., and Faye Carmichael, all of McDonough; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held September 21 at Bethany Baptist Church, with Rev. Al O’Quinn and Dr. Tom Rush officiating. Interment Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to the Bethany Baptist Church Building Fund, 4 N. Bethany Rd., McDonough, Georgia, 30252. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Charles Lee Brown
Charles Lee Brown, age 67, of Stockbridge, Georgia died September 21, 2006. Mr. Brown was born
March 22, 1939 in Marfa, Texas , the son of the late Edna Lee Jared and Bruce Layton Brown. He served his country in the U.S. Army, served as a deacon in the Madeira Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio for over 19 years, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Snellville. He received his engineering degree from General Motors Institute and retired in 2003 from GM as a Senior Quality Engineer with 45 years of service. He was also a sports enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Julia M. Austin Brown in 1987.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Lee Flowers Brown of Stockbridge; children, Lori and Ron Ennis of Columbus, Ohio and Margie and Duane Powell of Cincinnati, Ohio; stepdaughter, Jill Marie and George Hanshew of Gadsden, Alabama; grandchildren, Joshua, Julianne and Jenna Ennis; brother, J. T. Brown of Fort Worth, Texas .
Services were held September 28 at Laurel Land Memorial Gardens. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Victor Lloyd
Victor Lloyd, age 46, of McDonough, Georgia died September 21, 2006. Mr. Lloyd was born
in San Diego, the son of the late Robert Eugene Lloyd and Donna Carpenter Hatton. He enjoyed carpentry and was a Nascar and Braves fan. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and uncle. He was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Asmus.
He is survived by his wife, Iris Lloyd of McDonough; son, Thomas Lawrence Lloyd of Pensacola, Florida; daughter, Laura Lindsey Lloyd of McDonough; sister and brother-in-law, Susan Ann (Steve) Mills of Jacksonville, Florida; brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry (Caryn) Lloyd of Louisville, Kentucky, Tod (Marluce) Lloyd of Savannah; Kenneth Lloyd of Pensacola, Florida; step-parents, Lawrence and Sharon Hatton of Orange Park, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held September 23 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors and September 24 at Pine Forest United Methodist Church in Pensacola, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Atlanta Hospital Hospitality House, Inc., 1815 Ponce de Leon Avenue, NE, Atlanta, Georgia, 30307.
