Angela Elliott Holt, age 47, of McDonough, Georgia died October 10, 2006. Ms. Holt was born
in Atlanta. She owned and operated Family Hair Care for 22 years.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Lackey of Stockbridge, Lee (Tiffany) Holt of Jackson; grandson, Blake Lackey; granddaughters, Kaidence and Kayleigh Holt; parents, Bob and Kathleen Elliott of McDonough; brothers, Edward (Mary) Elliott, and Scott (Pattie) Elliott, all of McDonough; sister, Dana (Kevin) Neill of McDonough; nieces and nephews, Stephanie and Stacie Elliott, Cameron and Caleb Neill, and Bobby and Hollie Elliott.
Services were held October 13 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Dr. Robert Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Flippen United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3707 Jodeco Road, McDonough, Georgia, 30253. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Henrietta Lee Furstenau
Henrietta Lee Furstenau, age 70, of Locust Grove, Georgia died October 9, 2006. Mrs. Furstenau was born
in Centertown, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Forest and LolaBell Bennet Chapman.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Fred Furstenau of Locust Grove; sons, Mark Furstenau of Locust Grove, James Furstenau of Michigan; daughter, Linda Knoblock of Michigan; sisters, Nancy (Doug) Scott of Michigan, DeLora (Nick) DeJohn of Michigan; brother, Jack (Sandy) Chapman of Michigan; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held October 13 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Interment Locust Grove Cemetery. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Carroll D. Graham
Carroll D. Graham, age 73, of Hampton, Georgia died Friday, September 29, 2006. Mr. Graham was born
in Dallas, the son of the late Henry Dewey and Cuimi Wellie Wheeler Graham. He was an ironworker for Superior Rigging Local Union 387, of which he was a member for 55 years. He enjoyed going to Nascar racing and playing the lotto. He loved spending time with people and enjoyed taking the neighborhood kids for a ride in his golf cart. He loved his job and traveling, but most important to him was his family. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Carroll Graham; sisters, Maryann Aiken, Geraldine Clark, Helia Little, Doris Poulous; and stepmother, Sadie Graham.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Trecer Graham of Hampton; daughters, Kimberly Diane Peters of Longwood, Florida, Suzanne Denise Estep of Hampton; grandson, Matthew Carroll Peters of Longwood, Florida; granddaughters, Alyssa Graham and Kayla P. Graham, both of McDonough, Kimberly Ann Peters of Longwood, Florida, Michelle T. Brewer; great-grandson, Samuel M. Brewer; sisters, Patricia Dickerson and Dorothy Petzelt.
Services were held October 1 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Rev. Roy Mack officiating. Interment Westminster Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pinecrest Baptist Church. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Lonease Dowdy
Lonease Dowdy, age 62, of McDonough, Georgia died September 30, 2006. Mrs. Dowdy was born
in Abbeville, the daughter of the late Jesse Ruel and Virginia A. Luther Daniels. She was a preschool coordinator at Eagles Landing First Baptist Church, where she was a member. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a dedicated Christian.
She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Paul Maloy Dowdy; son Tim (Christie) Dowdy; daughters, Lori (Brian) Kurz, Sandy (Darrell) Clayton; and grandchildren, Micah Dowdy, Jesse Welliver, Zachary Welliver, Daniel Welliver, Morgan Kurz, Macey Kurz, Madison Kurz, all of McDonough; sisters, Beverly (Clarke) Bentley of Roswell, Loyce (Al) Wynn of Bonaire, Joyce (George) Smith of Perry; brother, Tony (Laura) Daniels of Douglasville; aunt, Susie Anderson of Abbeville; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held October 2 at Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church, with Rev. Tim Dowdy and Minister Walt Dejager officiating. Interment Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Harvey Lee Peppers
Harvey "Jack" Lee Peppers, age 87, of Eatonton, Georgia died October 1, 2006. Mr. Peppers was born
in Winder, the son of the late Warren and Samantha Davis Peppers. He and his wife owned and operated Jack and Ina's Grocery in Decatur and Thomaston for 46 years. He enjoyed watching television, especially sports. He loved raising and taking care of his dogs, Sam and Gal. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ina Roberta Davis Peppers; three brothers; and one sister.
He is survived by his daughter, Katherine P. Collier of McDonough; son, Warren Jeffery (Wanda Gail) Peppers of Thomaston; grandsons, Michael Allen Collier of Thomaston; Lee Collier of Jonesboro, Nickey Mayo, Christopher Lee Peppers, and Jeffrey Blake Peppers, all of Thomaston; great-grandsons, Matthew Allen Collier of Conyers, Cody Collier, and Corey Lee Collier, both of Jonesboro, Jesse Michael Collier of Thomaston; and brother, Hughe M. Peppers.
Services were held October 4 at Greenwood Cemetery. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth Ray Jones
Kenneth Ray Jones, age 79, of McDonough, Georgia died October 1, 2006. Mr. Jones was born
January 14, 1927 in Winter Garden, Florida, the son of the late Bertie Ruth Morris and John Clarence Jones. He was a member of Locust Grove United Methodist Church, and the John R. Wilkerson Mason Lodge of Rex. He served his country in the U.S. Army for 14 plus years, serving in WWII and Korea and retired from MARTA as an electronic technician foreman. He enjoyed traveling, sports, fishing and playing cards with his family. He was also preceded in death by son, Alan Jones; granddaughter, Tiffany Bryant; and siblings, Betty Snow, Jack Jones and Jewel Manley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Helen Jones of McDonough; children, Mary Beth Jones of Stockbridge, Yvonne Cowin of Stockbridge, William and Jane Jones of McDonough, Tim and Angel Jones of Locust Grove, Melanie and Paul Zihlmann of Stockbridge, Diane and Patrick Whitley of McDonough; grandchildren, Tim Jones, Bryan Jones, Aaron Jones, Dale Bryant, Kenny Bryant, Katie O’Brian, Brad Zihlmann, Jeramy Jones, Heather Jones and Casie Jones; great-grandchildren, Taylor O’Brian, Jenny O’Brian, Tyler Zihlmann and Taylor Jones; siblings, Artis and Joyce Jones of Lavonia, Alton and Geneva Jones of Decatur, PeggyAndrews of Carnesville and Kendell and Nell Jones of Shelby, North Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held October 4 at Locust Grove United Methodist Church, with Dr. Doug Gilreath officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
William John Ryan
William John Ryan, age 90, of McDonough, Georgia died October 1, 2006. Mr. Ryan was born
April 19, 1916 in Ontario, Canada, the son of the late Hattie McConnell and William John Ryan, Sr. He was a dedicated carpenter who enjoyed his work and was known for the beautiful furniture that he made. He was preceded in death by his wife, Paulina Kohut Ryan and a son, William Patrick Ryan.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Gail Ryan of McDonough; and three grandchildren.
He is being cremated and services will be held later in Canada. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Harold Blakley Self, Jr.
Harold Blakley Self, Jr., age 66 of Locust Grove, Georgia died October 3, 2006. Mr. Self was born
May 24, 1940 in Troup County, the son of the late Reba Hardin and Harold Blakley, Sr. He was a member of McDonough Baptist Tabernacle. He retired as Chief of Enforcement with the Department of Transportation of the State of Georgia. He loved his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Joellen Self of Locust Grove; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Marsha Self of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Caleb and Ellen Self, Patrick and Lydia Ham and Latasha McCoy; siblings, James H. and Cindy Self of Tampa, Florida, Miriam and Arney Yanders of Creve Coeur, Missouri and Ann and Greg Bohannan of Jonesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held October 5 at McDonough Baptist Tabernacle, with Dr. James West officiating. Interment Locust Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Christian Girls Home, Rt. 1, Box 194, Duckhill, Mississippi, 38925. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pearl Fannin
Pearl Fannin, age 86, of McDonough, Georgia died October 4, 2006. Ms. Fannin was born
in McDonough, the daughter of the late Joe C. and Hattie Lee Partain Fannin. She was very active in her church where she held several responsible positions. She loved to travel and taking care of other people. She retired from Marta. Most important to her was spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Lincoln Fannin.
She is survived by her sisters, Annie Lou Crumbley and Allie Buie, both of McDonough; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held October 6 at Flippen United Methodist Church, with Dr. Bob Brown and Rev. Gary DeMore officiating. Interment Flippen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Flippen United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3707 Jodeco Road, McDonough, Georgia, 30253. Theodore T. Lithgow, Jr.
Theodore T. Lithgow, Jr., age 74, of McDonough, Georgia died September 3, 2006. Mr. Lithgow was born
the son of Theodore M. and Gertrude Tracey Lithgow of Coaldale, Pennsylvania . He was a 1953 graduate of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania . Although he started his career in the chemical business, he spent most of his career with RJR-Nabisco as President of both the Fleischman and Merckens Chocolate Company Divisions. He served on the Board of Directors of the Henry Medical Center Foundation, Muhlenberg College, and The National Center for Disabilities, the Atlanta Heart Association, the Jesse Owens Foundation, and the National 4-H Council, the Northeast Regional Olympic Committee (1976 and 1980), the American Bakers Association, and the Eagle's Landing Country Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Preu Lithgow of McDonough; children, Dr. Theodore D. Lithgow of Bridgewater, New Jersey, Lynn Tessaglia of Johnston, Rhode Island, Elizabeth Lithgow and Matthew Lithgow of McDonough; and six grandchildren.
Services were held September 6 at McDonough Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Dudley Rose officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to: Muhlenberg College, 2400 Chew Street, Allentown, Pennsylvania , 18104; or the Henry Medical Center Foundation, 1133 Eagles Landing Parkway, Stockbridge, Georgia, 30281; or the Hands of Hope Free Medical Clinic, P.O.
