Wade Jackson
Mr. Wade Jackson, 65, of Gibson died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005.
Mr. Jackson, a native of Hancock County, was a retired Chief Deputy Sheriff. He served as Chief Deputy of the Hancock Sheriff's Department for over 37 years and as chief deputy of the Glascock County Sheriff's Department for over 5 years. He served in the Georgia National Guard. He was a member of the Peace Officers' Association and of the Culverton Baptist Church.
The funeral was Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Bert Mauldin officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Kitchens-Jackson; one daughter, Wendy (Mark) Simons, Gibson; one brother, Wayne "Toot" (Peggy) Jackson, Mitchell; two sisters, Peggy (Del) Smith, Thomson, and Anzenet (Bobby) Richardson, Piedmont, SC; a grandson, Justin Simons and a honorary family member, J.T. "Slim" Walton, Sparta.
Pallbearers were Chris Adams, Jimmy Dunn, Dewayne Lyons, Bobby Jackson, David Usry, Kenny Boyer, Ronnie Hadden, Steve Mathis, Randy Richardson and Mark Simons.
Honorary pallbearers were members of local law enforcement agencies.

Roland V. McCoy Sr.
Mr. Roland V. McCoy Sr., 78, of Warrenton died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center in Thomson.
Mr. McCoy, a lifelong resident of Warren County, was a lifetime member of VFW Post #6672. He served as a S.Sgt. in the 82nd Airborn Division during WW II and received the World War II Victory Medal and an Army Occupation Medal.
Graveside services were Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Dr. James M. Ramsey officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Ann D. McCoy; two sons, Roland V. and Becky McCoy, Moultrie, and Charles Daniel McCoy, Thomson; daughters, Rosanna M. and Preston Wren, Greenwood, La., and Phyllis M. and Steve Giddens, Warrenton; two sisters, Evie M. Herold, Tallahassee, Fla., and Patsy Ferguson, Hudson, Fla.; two brothers, George W. McCoy, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Calvin McCoy, Gibson; eight grandchildren, Kent Wren, Chris Wren, Jason McCoy, Eric McCoy, Steve McCoy, Stephanie M. Mitchell, Jeremy McCoy and Shane McCoy; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mary Elizabeth Goodwin McNeely
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Goodwin McNeely, 87, of Bartow died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at Jefferson Hospital.
Mrs. McNeely, a native of Burke County, was a homemaker and member of the Moxley United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was the daughter of the late Willie E. and Fronnie Gay Goodwin.
The funeral was Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Moxley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Lovejoy officiating. Burial was in the Old Moxley Church Cemetery.
Survivors include three sons, Wayne and Nelle McNeely, Martinez, John H. and Pat McNeely Jr., Augusta, and Terry and Rita McNeely, Bartow; one daughter, Patricia and Frank Gordy, Louisville; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Frank Gordy Jr., Blake Gordy, Chris Gordy, Al McNeely, Micah McNeely and Randall Farrer.

Elias J. Roundtree
Mr. Elias J. Roundtree of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005.
Mr. Roundtree, a native of Waynesboro, received his education in the Burke County School system. At an early age he joined Pine Hill Baptist Church. In 1955 he moved to Ft. Lauderdale and joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir. He is predeceased by his father, Willie Roundtree.
The funeral was Jan. 29 at 12:30 p.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Ft. Lauderdale with the Rev. Dr. O.C. Allen officiating and the Rev. Wilson M. Davis assisting. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Garden in Ft. Lauderdale.
Survivors include his wife, Essie Mae Roundtree; his mother, Mammie Lee Roundtree; five children, Clarence (Elizabeth) Roundtree, Eddie (Carles) Roundtree, Shirley (William) Arnett, Vernon (Theresa) Roundtree and David (Tammy) Roundtree, all of Ft. Ms. Catherine Cheeks, 94, of Wadley died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at Glendale Nursing Home.
Ms. Cheeks was a member of Davisboro Baptist Church.

Mr. Lawrence Dixon Jr., 69, of Wrens died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital in Augusta.
The funeral was Feb. 7 at 3:30 p.m. at Ways Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy McCullough officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Dixon, Augusta; a daughter, Mairlyn Anderson; three sons, Lonzay Morgan, Toney (Carrie) Morgan, Hephzibah, and Michael (Davita) Morgan, Atlanta; his parents, Lawrence (Georgia) Dixon, Matthews; a sister, Bettye (Henry) Walker, Wrens; and nine grandchildren.

Walter "Pete" Dukes
Mr. Walter "Pete" Dukes, 72, of Wrens died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at his residence.
Mr. Dukes was a member of Ebenezer ARP Church where he served as a deacon and treasurer of his Sunday Scool class. He served in the Air Force and retired from the Federal Aviation Agency. He graduated from Southern Tech in electronics and was a member of the American Legion Post #229. He is preceded in death by his father, Neal P. Dukes and his mother, Essie Davis Dukes.
The funeral was Jan. 24 at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer ARP Church with the Rev. Gary Jones officiating.
Survivors include one aunt, Marjorie Davis Allen and several cousins.
Pallbearers were Glenn Hadden, J.P. Burke, Paul Dukes, Gary Dye, Randall Eason and Riley Stavely.
Honorary pallbearers were the American Legion #229.

Mrs. Eunice Rene Fort, 76, of Augusta died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at University Hospital in Augusta.
Mrs. Fort, a native of Glascock County, was the owner of Fort's Dry Cleaners. She was a member of New Hope Worship Center. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Fort Sr.
The funeral was Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. at New Hope Worship Center with Dr. Rich Bowen and the Rev. Earl Thompson officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Survivors include her sons, Lewis (Linda) Fort Jr. and Paul Fort, Augusta, James Fort, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; daughters, Juanita Fort (Rick) Popp, Augusta, Janice F. Davis, Ocala, Fla., and Paulette Fort, Augusta; a sister Cora (Willie) Wells, Alma; and 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Genevia H. Key, 63, of Dearing died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005.
Mrs. Key, a native of Glascock County, worked for Thomson Company for 36 ½ years before retiring. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was a nursery worker and taught children's Sunday school. She is predeceased by her parents, Rebecca Denton Hobbs and Ralph Pete Hobbs, a sister, Inez Johnson, and a brother, Lonnie Hobbs.
The funeral was Feb. 3 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Upchurch, the Rev. Sonny Peevy and Jack McCorkle officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Cindy Clark Lynch, 43, of Thunderbolt died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005.
Mrs. Lynch, a native of Emanuel County, was owner and operator of Bangles Salon in Swainsboro. She was actively involved in community affairs including Relay For Life. She was a member of Grace Community Church. She was a member of the Downtown Development Commission and the Swainsboro-Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce.
The funeral was Feb. 6 at 2 p.m. at Grace Community Church in Statesboro with the Rev. Michael G. Holt officiating. Burial was in Eastbrook Cemetery, Swainsboro, at 4 p.m.
