Louise Scott Palpant
Louise Scott Palpant, age 76, of Stockbridge, Georgia died November 25, 2006. Mrs. Palpant was born in Atlanta, the daughter of the late Weyman Matthews and Dollie Troglin Price. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking. Most important to her was her love for her family especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Peoples Baptist Church, had a strong faith in God and a servant’s heart
She is survived by her husband, Jean Roger Palpant of Stockbridge; children, Danny Wayne Scott of Helena, Montana, Darrell Sherwin Scott of Terrell, Texas , David Dwain Scott of Fort Worth, Texas , Andy Palpant of Stockbridge, Donald Palpant of Adrian, Michigan; 11 grandchilden; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held November 28 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Pastor David McCoy officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Fannie Belle Youngblood
Fannie Belle (Fran) Youngblood, age 81, of Stockbridge, Georgia died November 13, 2006. Mrs. Youngblood was born in Washington County, the daughter of the late Willie and Claudia Beckum. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stockbridge, where she taught Sunday School for a number of years.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jesse C. Youngblood; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Val Simmons of Newnan; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Juanita Youngblood of Fayetteville, and Joyce Riebe of Apopka, Florida.
Services were held November 16 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Rev. Steve Murell officiating. Interment Camp Memorial Park. Those who wish may make donations to the First Baptist Church of Stockbridge Building Fund. Those who wish may sign the on-line guest registry at www.cannon-cleveland.com. Jack W. Thompson
Jack W. Thompson, age 84, of Stockbridge, Georgia, formerly of Forest Park, died November 13, 2006. Mr. Thompson was born in Covington, Oklahoma, the son of the late Jeffrey and Genevieve Blymiller Thompson and was raised in Parker, Pennsylvania . He was a recipient of the Purple Heart while serving in the U.S. Army with the 75th division of the Infantry during WWII. He was a hard worker, a perfectionist for detail to the beauty of his yard, and always had a pocket or jar full of candy for all the children he knew. But most of all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Alan Thompson; brothers, Gene Thompson, Richard Thompson, William Thompson; and son-in-law, Gary Steele.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Anna Patricia Kostka Thompson; daughter, Candy Steele of Stockbridge; granddaughters, Leigh (Keith) Snyder of Navarre, Florida, Michelle (Mike) Key of McDonough, Stacy (Aaron) Hellinger of Locust Grove; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Kaleigh, Ashleigh, Mitchell, Blake, and Brantlee; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held November 19 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Deacon Hank Akers officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Journey Hospice, 138 Peach Drive, McDonough, Georgia, 30253. Those who wish may sign the on-line guest registry at www.cannon-cleveland.com. Helen Lee
Helen (Betty) Lee, age 82, of McDonough, Georgia died November 14, 2006. Mrs. Lee was born in Augusta, the daughter of the late William Frank and Helen Elizabeth Murphy Matheny. She lived in Savannah for most of her adult life and received an award working with the Catholic youth in Savannah. She married her husband during WWII. She retired from the Army Corps of Engineers after 30 years of civil service, where she received many personal awards. She was a member of St. James The Apostle Catholic Church in McDonough, past president of the American Legion Auxilliary Chatham Post 36, a member of the McDonough Women’s Club and enjoyed playing bridge. But most of all she loved her family and her church. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Lee.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Richard E. Lee; daughter, Helen Lee Ray of Stockbridge; granddaughter, Patricia (Michael) Austin of McDonough; grandsons, Richard (Carla) Ray of Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, Michael (Kerry) Ray of Macon; great- grandchildren, Finian Ray, Ciana Ray, Cecelia Ray; sister, Francis Hamilton of Augusta; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held November 17 at St. James The Apostle Catholic Church, with Father John Murphy and Monsignor Henry Gracz officiating. Interment Catholic Cemetery in Savannah. Gilberto Gonzalez
Gilberto Gonzalez, age 40, of Hampton, Georgia died November 15, 2006. Mr. Gonzalez was born February 25, 1966 in Del Rio, Texas . He was manager of the Sports Authority Warehouse; was of the Catholic faith; enjoyed fishing; could fix almost anything, was a very hard worker and loving father. He was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Rebecca Gonzalez.
He is survived by his wife, Juana Gonzalez, who is expecting Gilberto’s eighth child; children, Savannah Gonzales and Sarah Fernandez, both of Bracketville, Texas , Daniel, Wendy, and Mercedes Estrada, Gilberto and Esmeralda Gonzales, all of Hampton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria and Richard Lazor and Gilda and Gabriel Garcia, all of McDonough; parents, Jose Gonzales of Del Rio, Texas , Santa Abdoulia of McDonough; paternal grandfather, Lonnie Gonzales of Uvade, Texas ; maternal grandparents, Ramon and Maria Escobar of Del Rio, Texas ; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services were held November 20 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Interment Haisten/ Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Clemente Reyes
Clemente "Toby" Reyes, age 77, of Morrow, Georgia died November 16, 2006. Mr. Reyes was born June 20, 1929 in Mercedes, Texas , the son of the late Guadalupe Garza and Clemente Reyes. He was a retired framer and was an avid deer hunter.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Reyes of Morrow; children, James Reyes of Toledo, Ohio, Jean Breedlove of Locust Grove, Rene Reyes of McDonough, Yolanda Claxton of Jackson, Anna Phillips of Griffin, Randolph Reyes of McDonough; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ruben Reyes of Mesquite, Texas , Dora Garcia of Bono, Ohio, Dalia Stookey of Mesquite, Texas , and Mary Gonzales of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania .
Services were held November 18 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Interment Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Linda Diane Powell
Linda Diane Powell, age 52, of McDonough, Georgia died November 16, 2006.
She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Powell; son, Lee Dubal and wife Natelie of Covington; son, Bradley Dubal of Covington; daughter, Amie Reagin of McDonough; daughter, Jennifer Lindsey of McDonough; grandchildren, Sidney Denise and Joseph Lee Dubal, Nathaniel Zane, Jacob Alston Lindsey; sisters; Holly Pounders, Bobbi Kirk; mother, Cherry Morgan.
Services were held November 20 at the Fairview Chapel of Horis A. Ward Funeral Home. Horis A. Ward Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Hester Chafin Martin
Hester Chafin Martin, age 85, of McDonough, Georgia died November 17, 2006. Mrs. Martin was born in Atlanta, the daughter of the late Samuel Christopher and Ruth Downs Chafin. She was a graduate of Agnes Scott College in 1943. She retired from Mt. Vernon Baptist Church after 33 years of service as church secretary. She was a faithful and dedicated Christian and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and a strong family woman. She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Buddy” Martin.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, James and Vicki Martin of McDonough, Frank and Barbara Martin of Jenkinsburg, Chris and Sandi Martin of McDonough; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Myrl Hansard of Alpharetta.
Services were held November 19 at Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church, with Dr. Tim Dowdy and Dr. John Moody, Sr. officiating. Interment Kelley Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Jaime Bailey Paules
Jaime Bailey Paules, age 30, of McDonough, Georgia died November 16, 2006. Ms. Paules was born in Riverdale. She was preceded in death by grandparents, James Melton, Floyd and Lillian Bailey, Addie Mae Monroe, and R.C. and Virginia Melton.
She is survived by her children, Austin Raines of Locust Grove, Jordan Paules of Marietta; mother and stepfather, Joni and Terry Schneider of McDonough; father, Marion Bailey of Locust Grove; brother, Mac Bailey of Stockbridge; stepsisters, Alia Perrone of Monroeville, Alabama and Jenna Campbell of Seattle, Washington ; grandparents, Amaryllus and Jim Askew of Meridian, Mississippi; Eleanor Sanger of Knoxville, Tennessee, and L.B. Schneider of Statesville, North Carolina; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services were held November 19 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
