Mrs. Alice Wood Denning, 88, of Sandersville died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003.
The funeral was Sept. 18 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Sandersville. Burial was in the Brownwood Cemetery.
Survivors include three children, Marjorie Denning Adams, Wrens; Donald Lewis Denning, Lawrenceville; and Paul Wayne Denning, Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Lora Wood Dickey, Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Homer Lee Watkins
Mr. Homer Lee Watkins, 67, of Bartow died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003.
The funeral was Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. at the Louisville City Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Watkins; a daughter, Vicki Edwards; sisters, Sara Coxwell and Evelyn Price; a brother, Ernest "Buddy" Watkins; and three grandchildren.

Charlie "Bud" Flonnory
Mr. Charlie "Bud" Flonnory of Bartow died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at Jefferson County Hospital.
Mr. Flonnory, a native of Jefferson County, was a member and steward of Ebenezer CME Church and a retired pulpwood worker and a farmer.
The funeral was Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. at Ebenezer CME Church and Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Hattie Marion Flonnory; his daughter, Annie R. "Sister" Flonnory, Bartow; two sons, Isaac Flonnory, Wilmington, Del., and Leroy Flonnory, Wadley; his brother, Cottrell Flonnory Sr., Macon; one daughter-in-law; 14 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were James Flonnory, Kendrick Hicks, Jessie Baker, Roger Heggs, Robert Flonnory and Grady Moye Sr.

Douglas Holley
Mr. Douglas Holley, 54, of Fayetteville died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003. Mr. Holley was a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology and was the director of development for the College of Engineering at Georgia Tech. He was a member of Harps Crossing Baptist Church.
The funeral was Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. at Harps Crossing Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Waston officiating. Burial was at Mt. Horeb Cemetery, Matthews, at 3:30 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Y. Mr. Melvin A. Shelton, 70, of Mitchell died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center in Thomson.

Bessie "Aunt Bessie" McNeely Black
Mrs. Bessie "Aunt Bessie" McNeely Black, 102, of Rockledge, Fla., died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at Wuesthoff Hospice Care Center.
Mrs. Black, a native of Louisville, had worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Filley Motors in Orlando. She was preceded in death by a brother, W.D. "Bill" McNeely of Louisville.
The funeral was Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Viera. Graveside services were Sept. 9 at 2:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Orlando.
Survivors include Harriet Henson, Juanita Gordon and Louise Borders, all of Louisville; Alec McNeely of Wrens; and several other nieces and nephews.

Mr. Arnold Gilmore, 74, of Wrightsville died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at Washington County Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Gilmore, a native of Washington County, was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church and a self-employed carpenter.
The funeral was Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and cemetery in Wrightsville.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy "Doris" Devero-Gilmore; one daughter, Van N. Gilmore, Sandersville; sons, Dale Devero, Louisville, Melvin Devero, Lake Wales, Fla., Doc Rachels, Augusta, and Ron Latimore, Sandersville; two brothers, Wyman Gilmore and James Gilmore, both of Sandersville; two daughters-in-law, 11 sisters in law and brother-in-law; one aunt, 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Roy "Bunny" Hughes
Mr. Roy "Bunny" Hughes, 63, of Thomson died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, in the Athens Regional Hospital.
Mr. Hughes, a native of Louisville, had lived in Thomson for many years. He was retired as a mechanic from the Clark-Schwebel Company in Washington. He was a Baptist and an Army veteran.
Graveside services were Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Gemell Johnson officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Hughes, Thomson; his daughter, Penny Murphey, Norwood; two sons, Kenneth Hughes and Chris Hughes, both of Thomson; a brother, Richard Hughes, Louisville; and five grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Earl Beasley, B.C. Smith, Johnny Jones, Buddy Barrow, Tommy Godowns, Gene Reid, Harold McNeely, Russell Richards and Charles Walden.

Daisy Eason Johnson
Mrs. Daisy Eason Johnson, 83, of Keysville died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at University Hospital in Augusta.
Mrs. Johnson, a native of Jefferson County, was a member of Keysville United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband David B. Johnson.
The funeral was Oct. 5 at 3 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Morgan and Dr. Tip Carroll officiating. Burial was in the Keysville United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Homer A. Ricketts Jr., 84, of Matthews died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at Gibson Health & Rehab Center.
Mr. Ricketts was a member of the American Legion 229. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a Baptist.
Graveside services were Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. at Mount Horeb Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Paul Moore officiating.

Mrs. Bular Jones, 97, of Aiken, SC, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, in Bronx, NY.

Bud M. Welch
Mr. Bud M. Welch, 77, of Gibson died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at University Hospital in Augusta.
Mr. Welch, a native of Glascock County, was an Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII. He was a member of Bethel UMC and was retired from the E.I. DuPont and International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He served as Chairman of the Glascock County Board of Commissioners and was a Forestry Steward.
The funeral was Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Stewart officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jeanne S. Welch; two sons, Steve Lynn Welch, Appling and Bruce Welch, Gibson; one daughter, Amanda Shaun Dixon, Hephzibah; two brothers, Macon Welch, Gibson and Nathan Welch, High Point, NC; one sister, Dorothy S. Dorothy Young Pate
Mrs. Dorothy Young Pate, 84, of Lawrence, Kan., died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003.
Mrs. Pate, a native of Jefferson County, was a long-time resident of Augusta before moving to Kansas several years ago to be with her family. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church in Augusta. She was the daughter of John A. and Martha Louise McGahee Young.
A memorial service was held Sept. 30 at Lawrence, Kansas Chapel. Burial will be in Westover cemetery in Augusta at a later date.
Survivors include two sons, Rupert E. Pate Jr. and John Hugh Pate, both of Lawrence, Kan.; a daughter, Bernice Pate, Leavenworth, Kan.; a sister, Bernice Young (Robert) VanArsdale, Wrens; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
