Juliette (Judy) Smith Thomas
Mrs. Juliette (Judy) Smith Thomas, 72, of Alam0 died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Emory Hospital in Atlanta.
Mrs. Thomas, a native of Bartow, was a graduate of Louisville Academy. She resided in Wheeler County for the past 16 years. She was a member of the Union Primitive Baptist Church. She was president of Fairview Park Auxiliary, a member and past president of Georgia Cattle Women Association. She was honored as Georgia Cattle Woman of the Year 1994, president of National Organization of Poll-Ettes 1992; 1993 National Poll-Ettes of the Year and worked a number of years with United Way of Tift County.
The funeral was July 29 at 11 a.m. at Union Primitive Baptist Church in Alamo with Elder Huey Glisson and Elder Paul Thomas officiating. Burial was in Alamo City Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Frank H. Thomas; two daughters, Kathern (Stephen) Driggers, Raleigh, NC, Julie (Jose) Marquez, Scarsdale, NY; a son, Larry (Connie) Thomas, Woodstock; sisters Mildred Sheppard, Wadley, Francis Dame, Danville and Lettie Waller, Augusta; brothers, Clifford Smith, Augusta, Charles Harvey Smith, Keystone Heights, Fla., Talmadge Smith, Swainsboro and Ernie Smith, Louisville; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one preceded her in death; and several nieces and nephews.

Earl W. Windom
Mr. Earl W. Windom, 86, of Wrens died Monday, July 21, 2003, at University Hospital.
Mr. Windom was a retired farmer and carpenter. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Perdue and Louise Windom and a son-in-law, Lindsey Lott.
The funeral was July 23 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church with the Revs. Paul Moore and Steve Lamb officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Fannie B. Windom; two sons, Freddie (Linda) Windom, Gibson and Kenneth (Rhonda) Windom, Martinez; two daughters, Margaret Lott, Vaucluse, SC, and Frances James Griswell, Matthews; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four nieces and two nephews.
Pallbearers were Freddie Windom Jr., Brandon May, Charles May, David Lott, Ray Myers, J.C. James, Edward Barrow, Bob Barrow and W.J. Perdue.

Lee Bryant Prescott
Mr. Lee Bryant Prescott of Matthews died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
Mr. Prescott, a native of Louisville, served during the Vietnam era. He was employed at Thiele Kaolin in Wrens for 26 years. He was a member of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church where he served as secretary of the Mt. Moriah Mens Group. He was a member of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Matthews Team. He is preceded in death by his father, William Prescott.
The funeral was Aug. 5 at 3 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Pam Gardner and George Collison and Smith Dickson officiating. Burial was in Mt. Moriah Church Cemetery.

Ms. Melody Elaine Floyd, 41, of Louisville died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Doctor's Hospital in Augusta.
Ms. Floyd, a native of Jefferson County, was a member of Spring Bethel AME Church and Spring Bethel Benevolent Society. She was a 1980 graduate of Louisville High School and was employed by Conco-Phillip 76.
The funeral was Aug. 3 at 3:30 p.m. at Spring Bethel AME Church with the Rev. T.O. Lampkin officiating. Burial was in the Spring Bethel Benevolent Society Cemetery.

Lenora Broomfield Thompson
Ms. Lenora Broomfield Thompson, 65, of Louisville died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Glendale Nursing Home.
Ms. Thompson, a native of Jefferson County, attended public school in Washington and Jefferson Counties furthering her studies at Ft. Valley State College. At a very early age she united with the St. Paul Baptist Church and attended Gordon Grove Baptist Church regularly. Her church activities included senior choir and teacher for annual vacation bible school.
The funeral was Aug. 2 at 2:30 p.m. at Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Hardy Bennings Jr., Issac Culberth, Herman Baker and King Mack officiating. Burial was in the Gordon Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Dorothy Beasley Johnson
Mrs. Dorothy Beasley Johnson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., died Saturday, July 26, 2003.
Mrs. Johnson, a native of Wrens, was a member of Bible Way Missionary Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Eddie and Ora Beasley. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Johnson.
The funeral was Aug. 2 at 1 p.m. at Bible Way Missionary Baptist Church, Dania Beach, Fla., with the Rev. T.N. Tucker officiating.
Survivors include her children, Cynthia (Bruce) McMillan, Jimmy and Troy (Johne) Lomack; two brothers, Willie (Sallie) and Bosie Lee Beasley, all of Fort Lauderdale; two sisters, Luella (Joe) Allen, Fort Lauderdale, and Ethel Mae (Thomas) Benefield, Wrens; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Beasley, Thomson, and Ethel Beasley, Atlanta; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Thomas Everett McBride
Mr. Thomas Everett McBride, 64, of Waynesboro died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003.
Mr. McBride, a native of Burke County, was the owner of McBride Gin & Farm Supply. He was the former Ruling Elder of ARP Presbyterian Church of Vidette and also the mayor of Vidette. He served as a board member for the Bank of Midville. He was a member of the Waynesboro Country Club and the Ogeechee Country Club in Louisville. He was a board member at Edmund Burke Academy and the cofounder of the Georgia Agriculture Chemical Company. He also received numerous awards and recognitions with Helena Chemical Company. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Waynesboro.
The funeral was Aug. 7 at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro with the Rev. Robert L. Smith officiating. Burial was in the Rose Dhu cemetery in Vidette.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda J. McBride; two daughters, Deborah Anne McBride, Santa Fe, NM, Lynn McBride (Hoke) Reeves, Statesboro; one son, Thomas Everett (Shanna) McBride Jr., Augusta; and two grandchildren, Mary Margaret Reeves and Smith Reeves.

Mrs. Annie Sara Hadden Randall, 84, of College Park, Md., died Wednesday, July 30, 2003.

Mrs. Mary Mitchell Gunder of Wadley died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003.

Survivors include one daughter, Arlene Warthen, Wadley; three sons, Willie Gunder Jr., Robert Gunder and Bobby Gunder, Wadley; two sisters, Addie Bell Mitchell and Sylvia Mae Gibbons, Wadley; four brothers, A.B. H. Melvin Smith
Mr. H. Melvin Smith of Hilton Head, SC, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003.
Mr. Smith, born in Glascock County, lived in Warrenton until June of this year. He was the son of the late Herbert R. Smith and Vera Mae Johnson Smith. He was a well-known business executive throughout the CSRA, owning and operating several diversified enterprises in Georgia and South Carolina.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Warrenton where he served on the Administrative Council as Chairperson of long Range Planning Committee and Chairperson of the Building Fund. He was a member of the Sarah Clary Sunday School class. He served on the CSRA Planning and Development Commission and was elected Chairperson of the Warrenton Downtown Development Authority. He was a member of the Warren County Chamber of Commerce for which he served on the Board of Directors and was a member and past president of the Warrenton Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Georgia Automobile Dealers Association as well as the Georgia Forestry Association and the Georgia Farm Bureau. He was preceded in death by a brother, Louie E. Smith.
The funeral was Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. at Warrenton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ted Miller officiating. Burial was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens in Thomson.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Dudley Smith; two sons, M. Daniel (Kim) Smith, Hilton Head Island, and Steven T. (Lynn) Smith, Edison, NJ; a sister, Susie Abbott, Warrenton; a brothers, Gene T. Smith, Warrenton; and four grandchildren, Hannah, Adam, Scott and Kelly.

Mr. Lester Allen Cobb, 60, of Wadley died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Universtiy Hospital in Augusta.
Mr. Cobb, a native of Jefferson County, had owned and operated the John Deere Dealership in Louisville for 25 years. He was a member of the Louisville Jaycee's. He was a member of Riverdale First Baptist Church. He was the son of Tom and Marie Cobb.

Mrs. Imogene Green Head, 84, of Hawkinsville died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at Kennestone Hospital.
Mrs. Head, a native of Jefferson County, graduated from Wadley High School and Grady School of Nursing. She was a retired registered nurse and a member of First Baptist Church of Forest Park.
Graveside services were held Aug. 9 at 11 a.m. at Wadley City cemetery with the Rev. Donald Lumpkin officiating.
Survivors include a son, Dan E. Head, Marietta; five sisters, Doris Sylvester and Bernice Cloy, Hawkinsville, Nita Brantley and Merlin Jones, Louisville, and Wilda Gordy, Cary, NC; and two grandchildren, Amanda K. Head, Greenville, SC, and Patrick Adam Head, Key West, Fla.
