Lonzie "Doc" Davis Jr.
Mr. Lonzie "Doc" Davis Jr., 58, of Homestead, Fla., died Saturday, June 21, 2003.
Mr. Davis, a native of Jefferson County, was a member of Stone Springfield AME Church. He attended Stone Springfield Elementary, Tenders Grove Elementary and was a 1963 graduate of Jefferson County High School. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1971 after serving eight years in active duty. In 1969 he started his own business, Davis Dozier Service. Recently he created the roads located in Davis Ridge Subdivision.
The funeral was June 28 at 11 a.m. at Stone Springfield AME Church with the Revs. David Batts, Issac Culberth and Hardy Bennings Jr. officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Gibbons Davis; his children, Jeffery Davis, Orlando, Fla., Ricky Davis, Angela Davis Taylor, Homestead, and Dionne Davis Volmar, Miami, Fla.; his mother, Margaret Virginia Farmer Davis, Louisville; his father and stepmother, Lonzie Sr. and Gussie Davis, Avera; siblings, Carolyn Crew, Atlanta, James Davis, Homestead, Maria Davis, Scarlett, Hephzibah, Carolyn Swint, Kathy Marion Davis, Louisville, Jasper Davis, Milledgeville, Cathelin King, Macon; his mother-in-law, Luella Gibbons, Louisville; 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dorothea Harden Keen
Mrs. Dorothea Harden Keen of Dublin died Monday, June 30, 2003, at New Horizons Personal Care Home.
Mrs. Keen was the daughter of the late Dr. Timothy Harden and Elizabeth Stubbs Harden. She was a homemaker. She attended Mercer University and received her degree from Wesleyan College in 1943. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She was a member of Dublin First Baptist Church where she taught children's Sunday school classes for many years. She was also a member of Hope Chavous Sunday School class. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Lemuel Keen.
The funeral was July 2 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Wally Weaver and Cliff Morris officiating. Burial was in the Northview Cemetery.
Survivors include a son, James Lemuel Keen Jr., Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Sula K. Altman, Savannah, and Elizabeth (Betsy) K. Polhill, Louisville; a sister, Rosalyn Harden, Macon; a brother, Dr. Timothy Harden Jr., Stockbridge; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were the staff and residents of New Horizons Personal Care Home.

William "Will" J. Holley
William "Will" J. Holley, 17, of Stapleton died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
Will was a rising senior at Brairwood Academy where he was active in football, baseball and track. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of Wrens Baptist Church.
The funeral was June 28 at 4 p.m. at Wrens Baptist Church with the Rev. Race Lariscy, Dr. James Ford and John T. Hammond, Headmaster of Briarwood Academy officiating. Burial was in Wrens Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his parents, Keith and Susan Holley; a brother Trenton P. Holley, all of Stapleton; grandparents, Ed and Betty Perdue and W.C. and Clyde Holley, all of Wrens.
Pallbearers were Scott Willis, Justin Callaway, Josh Garner, Jeffrey Kent, Bert Goolsby, Jason Holley, Brandon Normam and T.J. Mimbs.
Honorary pallbearers were the rising senior class, the football team and the baseball team of Briarwood Academy as well as coaches, Jimmy Barnett, Robert Waller, John Osborne, Lex McGee, Stephen Simpson, Charlie May and Clayton Parrish.

Mrs. Helen McDonald Linnenkohl, 91, of Stapleton died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at NHC Health Care in North Augusta.
Mrs. Linnenkohl was a member of Keysville United Methodist Church and a retired seamstress for Louisville Garment Company.
The funeral was June 28 at 11 a.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Karen Zeigler and George Collison officiating. Burial was in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Barry (Carol) McDonald, North Augusta, and Rolph (Sandy) McDonald, Stapleton; a stepson, Brinson Linnenkohl, Stapleton; a stepdaughter, Kathleen Walden, Hephzibah; five grandchildren, Michael McDonald, Michelle Hadden, Kevin McDonald, Barry McDonald Jr. and Stephanie Haywood; and eight great-grandchildren, Wes McDonald, Jarrett McDonald, Linnea Rogers, KayAnna Rogers, Wyatt McDonald, Angel McDonald, Sarah E. Nellie Marie Hadden
Miss Nellie Marie Hadden, 97, of Gibson died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Miss Hadden was a member of Woodlawn Methodist Church and had worked at the Town Tavern as a hostess for 45 years when she retired.
The funeral was June 27 at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marvin Goodman officiating. Burial was in Waldens United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include a sister, Jewel H. Jennings of Gibson.

Mr. Lewis Chalker, 56, of Gibson died Saturday, July 5, 2003, at Heritage of Old Capitol Nursing Home in Louisville.
Mr. Chalker was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Jackson Chalker and his mother, Mrs. Mattie Elizabeth Landrum Chalker.

Mrs. Anna Fay Gamboa, 95, of Louisville died Thursday, July 3, 2003.
Mrs. Gamboa, a native of Philadelphia, Penn., was the daughter of the late John and Mary O'Brien Fay. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. She was the wife of the late Louis Gamboa.
The funeral was July 7 at 10 a.m. at the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. on July 6 at the funeral home with Father Laurence Goulding officiating.

Irby Epting Jr.
Mr. Irby Epting Jr., 76, of Bartow died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at University Hospital in Augusta.
Mr. Epting, formerly of Camden, SC, was born in Lexington, SC, and had lived in Bartow for the past 10 years. He was a World War II Army veteran and a cutting room supervisor in the textile business.
Graveside services were held July 5 at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Larry Montgomery officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Epting; a son, Johnny Ricky (Becky) Epting, Bartow; a brother, Melton E. Epting, Lexington; a sister, Christine Chigges, Lexington; and two grandchildren, Richard and Jessika Epting.

Edward Clark Sr.
Mr. Edward Clark Sr., 82, of Brunswick died Friday, June 22, 2003, on St. Simons Island.
Mr. Clark, a native of Jefferson County, had been a resident of Glynn County since 1943. He was a retired architect and a member of Glyndale Baptist Church. He had been a member of Gideons International since 1961 and a lay evangelist for more than 30 years.
The funeral was June 26 at 10 a.m. at Glyndale Baptist Church with the Revs. John Horton and O'Neil Sharp officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Edward David Clark Jr., Brunswick; two daughters, Pat Hoyt, Brunswick and Elaine Bolen, Camarillo, Calif.; a brother, John Clark, Louisville; two sisters, Dorothy Clark Todd and Edna Clark McDaniel, both of North Augusta, SC; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bonnie Lucille Blalock Wren, 91, of Douglas died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Southern Senior Living in Douglas.
Mrs. Wren, a native of Coffee County, was the daughter of the late Avery Carlos and Dona Meeks Blalock. She was the widow of the late Jimmie Andrew Wren; also, she was a public school teacher for over 40 years in Nicholls. She was a member of Nicholls Baptist Church.
The funeral was June 28 at 11 a.m. at Nicholls Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Campbell officiating. Burial was in the Meeks cemetery near Nicholls.
Survivors include a daughter, Dona Wren (Jeff) Christopher, Douglas; grandchildren, Jennie Wren (Frank) Denmark, Swainsboro, Carol Christopher, Statesboro, and a great grandchild, Christopher Denmark, Swainsboro; her brothers, Dr. Lamar Blalock, Sylvania and Dr. Charles Blalock, Perry, Fla.
