Robert Roscoe Bragg
Mr. Robert Roscoe Bragg, 65, of Marietta died Sunday, April 13, 2003.

Mr. Bragg worked as a storm coordinator for Bell South for 38 years, retiring in 1994. He worked in jewelry repair at the Lakewood Antique Show. He was a member of GMA Flight Area, served in the Army-National Guard Reserves as a radio specialist. He was a Presbyterian.

The funeral was April 17 at 11 a.m. at the Carmichael Funeral Home Chapel in Smyrna with the Rev. Barry Wade Holland Sr. officiating. Burial was in the Crest Lawn Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Anne Bragg, Marietta; a daughter, Holly Bragg Holland, Marietta; mother, Pearlie M. Bragg, Louisville; brother, George William Bragg, Louisville; sister, Bette B. Rowland, Smyrna; a grandson and several nieces and nephews.

Mattie Gibbons Howard
Mrs. Mattie Gibbons Howard, 93, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., died Sunday, April 12, 2003 at Broward County Medical Center in Ft. Lauderdale.

Mrs. Howard, a native of Jefferson County, was educated in Jefferson County public schools. She joined the Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church at an early age and later moved to Florida where she lived most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Betty Latimore Gibbons.

The funeral was April 19 at 11 a.m. at Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church with the Rev. F. Ricks and C. Simmons officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include on son, Ronnie (Gail) Howard, Asbury Park, NJ; daughters, Daisy Walker, Gough, Pauline Densen and Eva Mae Morris, Ft. Lauderdale; sisters, Sally Wells, St. Petersburg, and Rebecca Holliman, Wadley; 30 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 17 great great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mary D. McGahee
Mrs. Mary D. McGahee, 79, of Stapleton died Sunday, April 20, 2003.

Mrs. McGahee was retired from Thomson Company. She was a member of Walden's United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John O. McGahee; a son, Jimmy C. McGahee; a grandson, Jeffery Thomas McGahee; two sisters, Reba Alice Peebles and Dorothy Davis; and a brother, Broadus Davis.

The funeral was April 22 at 2 p.m. at Walden's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marvin Goodman officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Frank (Mary) McGahee, Gibson, and John Thomas McGahee, Stapleton; two daughters, Linda (Kenneth) Channell, Stapleton, and Mary Ann (Clarence) Reese, Gibson; two brothers, Charlie Davis, Avera, and Bennett Davis, Tennille; three sisters, Peggy Williams, Jo Dean Davis, Louisville, and Beulah Lamb, Gibson; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Albert Padgett, Paul Brown, Aubrey Montgomery, Larry Kitchens, Johnny McGahee and Algie Usry.

Memorials may be made to the Walden's United Methodist Church cemetery Fund, 1760 Walden Church Road, Avera, GA 30803, or to the American Diabetes Association, 3738 Presidential Parkway, Suite 102, Atlanta, GA 30340.

Leila Clark Williams
Mrs. Leila Clark Williams, 83, of Stapleton died Sunday, April 20, 2003.

Mrs. Williams was a homemaker, a member of Walden's United Methodist Church and a former member of the Young at Heart Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse David Williams.

The funeral was April 23 at 3 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marvin Goodman officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Larry Williams, Gibson; three daughters, Betty Jean Phillips, Gibson, Linda Ann Wescott, Evans, and Mildred McGahee Poole, Avera; two brothers, Troy Clark, Avera, and Roy Clark, Waycross; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jimmy McNair, Ricky Godowns, T.W. Bentley, Roy McGahee, Paul Brown, Bill Marsh and Dr. Charles Green.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1725, Augusta, GA 30903-1725.

Terry Anfield
Mr. Terry Anfield of Wrens died Saturday, April 19, 2003.
The funeral was April 24 at 3 p.m. at Mount Tabor AME Church with the Rev. Sherri Wood-Powe officiating. The Rev. Glenn Wiggins was Eulogist. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Anfield; two sons, Richard (Tavanna) Thompson, Wadley, and Antonio Andrews, Wrens; one daughter, Keshondra Andrews, Wrens; mother, Jeanette Anfield-Lewis, Keysville; four sisters, Waltina Anfield, Tuscaloosa, Ala., Sharon (Fred) Bockson, Hephzibah, Gwendolyn Adams and Lisa Anfield, both of Keysville; one brother, Jeffery Anfield, Keysville; two grandsons, Malik Thomson and Demonta Washington, Wadley; and several other relatives.

Freeman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Shirley Haymon Avera
Mrs. Shirley Haymon Avera, 67, of Wrens died Thursday, April 24, 2003 at Doctors Hospital.

Mrs. Avera was a homemaker, a member of Wrens Baptist Church and a member of Lois Whaley WMU.

The funeral was April 27 at 3 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Race Lariscy officiating. Burial was in the Wrens City Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Bennett H. Avera; two sons, Joel (Donna) Avera, Rincon, and Stephen (Catherine) Avera, Atlanta; a niece, Betsy (Charles) Milburn, Wrens; and two grandchildren, Renia and Rachel.

Pallbearers were Scott Pope, Jack Phillips, Ernest Rozier, Ray Smith, Oliver Gay and Emory Clements.

Memorials may be made to the Wrens Baptist Church Building Fund, Post Office Box 217, Wrens, GA 30833.

Remiyah Nikayla Brown
Little Miss Remiyah Nikayla Brown of Wadley died Friday, April 25, 2003 in Augusta.

The funeral was April 28 at 11 a.m. at Hudson Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. C.W. Stone officiating.

Survivors include her mother, Dandrea Walker Brown, Statesboro; her father, Remon Brown, Statesboro; her maternal grandmother, Ms. Eva W. Brooks, Wadley; and her paternal grandmother, Gloria Heard, Valdosta.

Hudson Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

Marie Raley English
Mrs. Marie Raley English, 92, of Louisville died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at Emanuel Medical Center in Swainsboro.

Mrs. English, a native of Jefferson County, was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. She served many years as a teacher, basketball coach and principal for the Jefferson County and Glascock County Schools. She had served as organist for many years for the Louisville United Methodist Church and the Providence Baptist Church in Grange. She was an artist and a charter member of the Jefferson County Art Guild and the Bartow Art Guild. She was a member of Louisville United Methodist Church. She had resided in the last eight months in Swainsboro at the Church St. Manor, Assisted Living Home. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Mattie Bell Raley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lamar English Sr., a son Jack English and a grandson Scott English.

The funeral was April 30 at 2 p.m. at the Louisville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Danny Treadway officiating. Burial was in the English Family cemetery at Red Plains in Grange.

Survivors include three sons, Bill English, Swainsboro, Rob English, Atlanta and Don English, Vidalia; two brothers, Melvin Raley, Gibson and Elton Raley, Sandersville; two sisters, Zelma McCoy, Louisville and Bernice Shirey, Atlanta; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Jeff English, Joe English, Michael English, Sam English, Russell English and Jim Winskie.

Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Louisville, was in charge of the arrangements.

Agnes Hadden Calloway
Mrs. Agnes Hadden Calloway, 76, of Avera, died Friday, April 25, 2003, at McDuffie County Regional Medical Center in Thomson.

Mrs. Callaway was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a homemaker.

The funeral was April 27 at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Lumpkin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Russell L. Callaway; two daughters, Kathy Callaway Moore, Avera, and Karen Callaway Washington, Gibson; two sisters, Helen Stallings, Beech Island, SC, and Nancy Barney, Augusta; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Don Poole, Tommy Sheppard, Warren Mathis, Troy Clark, Louis Mathis and Samuel T. Hadden.

Alberta Haynes Jordan
Mrs. Alberta Haynes Jordan of Wrens died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at University Hospital in Augusta.

Mrs. Jordan, a native of Jefferson County, had retired from the Jefferson County Board of Education and was a member of Ways Grove Baptist Church where she was Mother of the Church, a Deaconess and a member of the Senior Choir and the Morale Aid Society. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

The funeral was April 26 at 1 p.m. at Ways Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy McCullough officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include four sons, Thomas Jordan, Tacoma, Wash., James Jordan, Spring Lake, NC, Wilburn Jordan, Thomson and Walter Jordan, Wahiawa, Hawaii; five daughters, Lee Ollie Elliott, Columbia, Eula Holloway, St. Petersburgh, Fla., Jeanie Sharrock, Newport News, Va., Alvonia McCoy, Louisville and Roberta Hatcher, Augusta; 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Flossie A. McDonald
Mrs. Flossie A. McDonald, 92, of Wrens died Friday, April 25, 2003, at Burke County Hospital.

Mrs. McDonald was a homemaker and a member of the Wrens Church of God. She is preceded in death by her husband John Royce McDonald and son Jerrell McDonald.

The funeral was April 28 at 2 p.m. at Wrens Church of God with the Revs. Terry Addis and James Shope officiating. Burial was in the Wrens City Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, S.J. McDonald and John "Mac" McDonald; two daughters, Iris June Padgett, North Augusta, SC and Sybil Etterle, Blythe; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Greg McDonald, Jerry McDonald, Andy McDonald, Tony Padgett, Kenny Etterle and Eric Williamson.

Memorials may be made to the Wrens Church of God Building Fund, 102 Phillips Street, Wrens, GA 30833.

Lenora Palmer
Mrs. Lenora Palmer of Wrens died April 24, 2003.

The funeral was April 29 at 3 p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church with the Rev. Carlos Newton Sr. officiating. Burial was in the cemetery.

Survivors include five daughters, Hattie R. Curry, Betty S. Palmer, Ida B. Hamilton, Daisy M. Ferguson and Catherine Padilla; four sons, Willie James Palmer, William Palmer, Thomas Palmer and Larry Palmer; and four sisters, Cleo Dawson, Hazel Brown, Lola Mae Roberts and Eddie M. Daniels.

Curtis Wynn
Mr. Curtis Wynn, 63, of Louisville died Monday, April 21, 2003, at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.

Mr. Wynn, a native of Washington County, was a retired truck driver.

The funeral was April 27 at 2 p.m. at Adams Chapel Church of God in Christ. Burial was in the Mount Pleasant CME Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Dudley Wynn; his children, Curtis Lee (Devino) Wynn, Savannah, Curtis Devon (Penny) Wynn, Louisville, Shirley Wynn, Reidsville and Samantha Smith, Savannah; his step-children, Dickie C. Williams, David Huff, Timothy Huff and Farolyn Huff, Louisville, and Angela Mitchell, Augusta; his siblings, Lena Mae Wynn, Chicago, Ill., Moses Wynn Jr., Brunswick and Horace Wynn, Savannah; 20 grandchildren; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
