Katherine S. Upchurch
Katherine S. Upchurch, age 88, of McDonough, Georgia died January 5, 2007. Mrs. Upchurch was born
in Musella, the daughter of the late Otis and Rosa Hubbard Sowell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Upchurch; and two sons, Randall and Donald Upchurch.
She is survived by her three sons, Dr. Howell (Mae) Upchurch of Punta Gorda, Florida, Warren D. (Helen) Upchurch of McDonough, Edward (Pat) Upchurch of Social Circle; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held January 7 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Dr. Howell Upchurch officiating. Interment Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. Marcus Kirk, Jr.
Marcus "MJ" Kirk, Jr., age 3, of Hampton, Georgia died January 5, 2007. He was born
in Riverdale, the son of Marcus Ramon and Leslie Dionne Rhodes Kirk, Sr.
He is survived by his parents; brother, Mattox Eugene Kirk; grandparents, Mary Faye Rhodes and Raymond Rhodes, Sr., both of Alexandria, Louisiana, and Viola Gaylord of Hampton.
Services were held January 8 at Glenn Haven Baptist Church, with Rev. Ralph Easterwood officiating. A second service will follow on January 11 at 11:00 am at the Greater Magnolia Baptist Church in Alexandria, Louisiana. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Louisiana. Joan P. Essex
Joan P. Essex, age 79, of McDonough, Georgia died January 5, 2007. Mrs. Essex was born
in New York, New York, the daughter of to the late Roland and Mary Callahan Burkehart. She was an avid reader, adventurist, loved to dance, and was a very independent woman.
She is survived by her children, Thomas Essex of McDonough, Donald Essex of Tucker, Robert (Ann Marie) Essex of Long Island, New York, Joan Marie (Dennis) Kiernan of Stockbridge; and three grandchildren.

Edward Harmon Myers
Edward Harmon Myers, age 81, of Jackson, Georgia, formerly of McDonough died January 6, 2007. Mr. Myers was born
January 3, 1926 in Hall County, the son of the late Lula Fordham and John Jewel Myers. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. He retired from Atlanta Transit and Marta with 36 years of service. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. He was known for being an avid bird hunter.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Martin Myers of Jackson; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jay Hoekwater of Jackson; grandsons and their wives, Wesley and April Hoekwater and Matthew and Kara Hoekwater; great grandchildren, Julianna, Cade, Maclean, Tyler and Cole Hoekwater; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held January 9 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Lewis officiating. Interment Haisten/ Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Roger Babson
Roger Babson, age 71, of Stockbridge, Georgia died December 23, 2006. Mr. Babson was born
in Bladenboro, North Carolina, the son of the late David Pratt and Bessie Ella Carlisle Babson. He served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Evelyn Christian Babson; sister and brother-in-law, Mural (Rena) Mura of Toms River, New Jersey; brothers and sister-in-law, Earl Babson of Rockingham, North Carolina, John (Betty) Babson of Kissimmee, Florida; sister-in-law, Bertha Johnson of Jackson; brothers-in-law, James Christian and Roy Christian, both of Stockbridge; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim White
Jim (J.T.) White, age 66, of Jackson, Georgia died Monday, December 25, 2006. Mr. White was born
in Atlanta the son of James Thomas and Geneva Tucker White, Sr. He was a member of Chief Cornerstone Ministries. He also enjoyed racing since he was a race car driver. Most important to him was his family as they shared that he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret White of Jackson; daughter, Vicki Ray of McDonough; stepsons, David Stewart of Mississippi; Phillip Stewert of Locust Grove; sister, Alice Fay Sosby of Griffin; brother, Danny White of Summerville; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Donald Ogden Harrigan
Donald Ogden Harrigan, age 71, of McDonough, Georgia died December 23, 2006. Mr. Harrigan was born
June 18, 1935 in Manhattan, New York, the son of the late Paul W. and Dora Virginia Harrigan. He served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, retiring after 20 years of service. He also retired after 20 years with the Civil Service; was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church; was an avid photographer, and enjoyed traveling and reading.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dora Harrigan; stepmother, Agalia Williams; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services were held December 29 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, with Rev. Carla Knobler officiating. Interment Georgia National Cemetery. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Courtney Leigh Stockstill
Courtney Leigh Stockstill, age 14, of McDonough, Georgia died December 28, 2006. Miss Stockstill was born
April 22, 1992 in Atlanta, the daughter of birth parents, Christopher Stockstill and Patrice Hodson. She enjoyed all sports, music, playing the drums and was of the Pentecostal faith.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Yolanda and Gary Newton of McDonough; special stepfather, Huey Frierson; brothers, Carlton Marsh and Christopher Stockstill, Jr.; sister, Brittani Stockstill; grandmother, Shirley and Bill Thrilkill; grandfather, Gordon Hodson; great-grandmother, Wilda Lumpkin; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were held December 31 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Montgomery officiating. Interment Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Emma Howard
Emma Howard, age 77, of Locust Grove, Georgia died December 29, 2006. Mrs. Howard was born
in Atlanta, the daughter of the late John Thomas and Mary Ruth Eskew Steerman. She was a member of Rockcut Baptist Church in Conley, and she enjoyed listening to gospel and Christian music on her radio. She retired from Dickies Uniforms, formerly in College Park, after 25 years of dedicated service. She loved gardening, handicrafts and watching television in her later years. But most importantly, she was a strong family woman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Mason Howard, Sr.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Madden of Locust Grove, Pam Perkins of Morrow, Barbara Holt of Gainesville; sons, Roger Bradberry of Stockbridge, Hal Howard of Moreland, Scott Howard of St. Simons Island; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Winkles, Dorothy Blankenship, Lorena Holt; brother, Irvin Steerman; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held December 31 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Brother Bob Howard officiating. Interment Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
