Charlotte Julia Fauver Maurer
Charlotte Julia Fauver Maurer, age 75, of McDonough, Georgia died January 9, 2007. Mrs. Maurer was born
March 14, 1931 in Atlanta, the daughter of the late Arthur D. Fauver and Mary Rosaman Harris. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Walter E. Maurer of McDonough; children and sons-in-law, Dodie and Rad Porter of Hampton, Bonnie and Mark Kidd of Stockbridge; grandchildren, Mickey Wade, Patrick and Amber Porter, Andy Porter, Jamie Porter, Matthew Bryant and Chris Kidd; great-granddaughter, Angel Marie Paul.
Services were held January 12 at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park, with Patrick Porter officiating. Please make contributions
to the charity of your choice in memory of Mrs. Maurer. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Julia Hill Daniell
Julia Hill Daniell, age 91, of Griffin, Georgia died January 9, 2007. She was born
October 31, 1915 in Oconee County, the daughter of the late Augustus Lee and Julia Katherine Moseman Hill. At the age of three, she moved to Eatonton and lived on a dairy farm. She worked at K-Mart in Griffin for 10 years; was a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church in Forest Park; and enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Giles Dorsey Daniell in 1987; her son, Dorsey Hill; two brothers; and four sisters.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Rayford Scoggins of Hampton, Gail Daniell Brown of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Bonnie Daniell Spivey and her friend Mike Smith of Hampton; grandchildren, Russ and Myrna McNally of Griffin, Tammy and Jamie Arp of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Michael and Vera Spivey of Braselton; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Annie Greene of Macon; several very special nieces and nephews.
Services were held January 12 at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Forest Park, with Chaplain Jack Landham officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Corene Evans Holder
Corene Evans Holder, age 92, of Locust Grove, Georgia died January 10, 2007. Mrs. Holder was born
April 21, 1914 in Henry County, the daughter of the late Mary Lavonio Willard and Samuel Evans. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. She was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, gardening, swinging and rocking in her rocking chair. She was preceded in death by her children, Samuel Holder, Dorothy Holder, Larry Holder and Eugene Holder; and her husband, Dewey Lee Holder.
She is survived by her children, Jeanette Driver, Elsie and Carey Rape, and Hazel Wall, all of Locust Grove; and Jimmy and Joann Holder of Opelika, Alabama; 10 grandchildren: 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held January 12 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Ed Judy officiating. Interment New Hope United Methodist Church. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Catherine Maddox
Catherine (Cathy) Maddox, age 82, of McDonough, Georgia died January 13, 2007. Mrs. Maddox was born
in Henry County, the daughter of Charles James and Kathlenn Willison Green. She was a resident of Dogwood Forest assisted living home for the last four years. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church, and she considered the members there her brothers and sisters in Christ.
She is survived by her sister and brother in-law, Mary and John Fields of McDonough; and several cousins.
Services were held January 16 at Salem Baptist Church, with Rev. Rick Statham and Rev. Dan McKay officiating. Interment Timberridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Charles Shepard
Charles (Rock) Shepard, age 47, of McDonough, Georgia died December 29, 2006. Mr. Shepard was born
in Fort Valley, the son of the late Charles Leighton and Mary Beverly Parr Shepard III. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Charles was a motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and was an avid Nascar fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Leigh Shepard, Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; sisters Beth Nettleton of McDonough, Annette Oliver of Albany; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held December 31 at Oak Lawn Cemetery

Jule Mortensen
Jule Mortensen, age 89, of McDonough, Georgia died January 1, 2007. Mrs. Mortensen was born
in West New York, New Jersey, the daughter of the late William Frederick and Isabelle Leer. She was a member of Flippen United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, George John Mortensen; daughter, Leslie Jeffery of Jackson; and sons, George Jay Mortensen and William F. Mortensen, both of Canton.

Gertrud Anne Miles
Gertrud Anne Miles, age 80, of Stockbridge, Georgia died December 29, 2006. Mrs. Miles was born
in Kelsterbach, West Germany, the daughter of the late Joseph and Wilheman Schilling. She was preceded in death by her husband, William David Miles.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Joe Maccione of Stockbridge; son, Frank J Miles of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brothers, Horst Schilling of Great Falls, Montana, Fred Schilling of West Germany; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and
two great-great-grandchildren.

Owen Philip Hoffman
Owen Philip “Skip” Hoffman, age 54, of Locust Grove (Luella), Georgia died January 2, 2007. Mr. Hoffman was born
October 27, 1952 in Fulton County, the son of the late Shearer Stokes and Owen Philip Hoffman, Sr. He graduated Woodward Academy in 1970, received his BA degree in History and Political Science from West Georgia College in 1974, taught school for 6 years and was named Star Teacher in Cobb County in 1977. He was employed with FAA, was a Boy Scout Leader and he enjoyed horseback riding, kayaking and hiking. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Colver.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Ballard Hoffman of Locust Grove; children, Ty and Nicole Hoffman of Locust Grove; sisters, Denise Foster of Conyers, Dawn McVey of Iowa; aunt, Willowreene “Cookie” Stoke Preuss of Dunwoody; sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Bob Bodle of Locust Grove; nieces, Kristin and Erin Bodle of Locust Grove; and other nieces and nephews.
Services were held January 6 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Cary Grubbs officiating. Interment Berea Cemetery. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Henry County High School Scholarship Foundation, P.O. Box 880, McDonough, Georgia 30253; or the Alzheimer’s Association. Lurline Wilson Echols
Lurline Wilson Echols, age 90, of McDonough, Georgia died January 4, 2007. Mrs. Echols was born
March 28, 1916 in Butts County, the daughter of the late Elizabeth Hammond and Kennedy Wilson. She enjoyed traveling and she traveled all over the world. She also enjoyed shopping, dancing, painting and being able to ride along side of Mr. Echols anywhere he traveled. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin P. Echols in 1996.
She is survived by her children, Norman G. and Jere Echols, Peggy and Haskell Thomas, Nicky P. and Sandra Echols, Richard V. and Beverly Echols, all of McDonough, Dean and Beverly Echols of Stockbridge; grandchildren, Tim, Terry, Ted and Tommy Echols, Jeff Thomas and Kelly Coffey, Kipp and Matthew Echols, Nicole Curry, Whitney and Wes Echols, Deanna Hibbard and Brandi Walker; 32 great-grandchildren.
Services were held January 7 at Salem Baptist Church, with Rev. Dan McKay and Rev. Matt Allison officiating. Interment Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
