Mr. Frank Mann, age 75 of Conyers, went to be with the Lord Thursday, September 13, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Pat Mann; daughter, Cathy Mann; son, Kenny Mann; grandson, Chris Mann, all of Conyers; sister, Avis Wells, Jonesboro; nieces, Vonnie and Gina; nephews, Timmy and Dewayne; and many cousins. Mr. Mann worked for the City of Atlanta Fire Department for 36 years. He worked on behalf of abused and neglected children for several years and currently worked with abused horses at Charlie Elliott Wildlife and Rescue. He was involved with Lakeview Estates ministries for many years. He was known by his cheerful and witty spirit and was loved by all. We look forward to meeting him in Heaven and because he was such a productive person seeing all the preparations he has made for us. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 16, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Newton Baptist Church, 720 Jack Neely Road, Covington with Rev. Tony Howeth and Rev. Mrs. Mary Rachel Pope, age 91 of Covington, died Friday, September 14, 2012. Rev. Oswald Riley, age 71 of Stone Mountain, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 15, 2012. He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Riley. He is survived by his wife, Eileen Riley; children, Carlene Lawla, Mauvarie (Novelette) Riley, Kirk Riley, Rosemarie Clarke, Fitzroy Riley Sr., Suzette Riley-White, Lindel Riley, Garfield Riley; adopted children & grandchildren, Michael Hall, Beverly (Gracie) Hall-Bitter, Yvonne Hall-Nelson, Beverly (Opal) Clarke, Denise Nelson, Seneta Vang, Nicholas Nelson; 28 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; his mother, Mildred Riley (Jamaica, West Indies); 2 brothers; 3 sisters; numerous children he cared for in Jamaica, New York & Georgia; other relatives, associates, and friends. Oswald Riley, a man of God with a heart of gold, walked this earth from October 15, 1940 to September 12, 2012. During his time on earth he touched the lives of so many, that they are too numerous to count. He always helped everyone he could, and if he couldn't help, he would try to find ways to help. This he did throughout his entire life. He was known as Bro. Howie, Pastor Riley, Daddy, and Grandpa. Elgie Russell Hudgins, age 80 of Conyers, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Elgie is survived by the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Mary Louise; his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Terry Clanton; daughter, Wanda Hudgins-Spain; daughter, Patti Romero; daughter and son-in-law, Leigh and Gary Landon; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Eunice Hudgins and his daughter and son-in-law, Libby and Randy Poynter. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Arts from Auburn University in 1953. He spent his career in the printing and packaging industry, retiring in 1999. Elgie was a devoted family man, loved spending time with his wife, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and looked forward to family get-togethers for any occasion when he enjoyed his homemade peach ice cream. He was known to close friends as ‘Pipe’. His cheerful and witty spirit endeared him to his family and friends. His constant display of love and affection for his wife was inspirational to family and embarrassing to hospital staff during some recent hospital stays. He will be loved and missed by all who loved him and knew him. A memorial service will be held at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 30, 2012 officiated by Pastor Brett Millican and Pastor Ronny Brannen. George Edward (Eddie) Potts came into this world on January 4, 1958 at Rockdale County Hospital and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 27, 2012. He lived his entire life in Rockdale County and leaves behind a cadre of close friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walker and Deane Potts and George and Claire Cowan, all of Conyers. He is survived by his loving wife, Terry Lynn Potts; beloved son, Tyler Potts, both of Conyers; daughter, Haley Potts, of Brookhaven; and parents, Benny and Bitzi Potts, of Conyers. Other survivors include stepdaughters, Maegan Underwood and Brittany Wood; sister and brother-in-law, Lisa Potts Huckaby and Darrell Huckaby; brother-and-sister-in-law, David and Tanya Nolen; nieces and nephews, Jamie, Jackson and Jenna Huckaby, Derrick and Cody Nolen; and parents-in-law, Terry and Janice Flournoy, of Wedowee, AL. Eddie graduated from Rockdale County High School in 1976 and was active in sports, playing on the Bulldog football and basketball teams. He pursued his education at DeKalb County Technical College and for the past 30-plus years has been employed by Batchelor and Kimball, Inc. He has been a long-time member of Atlanta Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 72 and was working as a project foreman at the time of his death. Eddie was a long-time softball umpire in the community and an avid hunter and fisherman, but his true passions were his family, Rockdale Baptist Church and the Heritage High School Band. He worked the soundboard at the church for many, many years and has been the Pit Boss and an integral part of the support wing of the Patriot Marching Band for the past twelve years, seldom, if ever, missing a game, competition or band activity. George Edward Potts has touched the lives of many people in the Conyers/Rockdale County community and will be sorely missed by a great cross section of people, young and old, near and far.
