Mr. Bill Woodrum, Jr., age 59 of Conyers, died Monday, November 14, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Woodrum, Conyers; sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Lindsay Woodrum, Carrollton, Justin and Lauren Woodrum, Newport News, VA; daughters and son-in-law, Tonya Woodrum, Katherine and David Rolader, all of Jacksonville, FL; mother, Joyce Barker, England; brother and sister-in-law, John and Kelly Woodrum, Utah; sister, Wanda Woodrum, Utah; grandchildren, Alyssa Rolader, Greyson Rolader, Lacy Rolader, Liam Woodrum, Dixie Woodrum, Annabelle Woodrum. Mr. Woodrum was a member of Crosspoint Christian Church. He was a committed husband and father who will be missed. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Crosspoint Christian Church with Rev. Curt Zehner officiating. Shane Wilson
March 31, 1984 - November 14, 2011
City of Doraville police officer Corporal/Detective Robert "Shane" Wilson, 27, of Covington, GA died Monday, November 14, 2011 while responding to a call for service.
Born in Fulton County and originally from Decatur, GA, Shane moved with his family to Conyers, GA in 1991 where he proudly graduated Heritage High School in 2002. He joined the City of Doraville Police Department as a dispatcher in 2003, and became a sworn officer in 2007. In his service to the City of Doraville, he received many commendations and awards, including being a member of the department's SWAT team.
Shane was a devoted father and enjoyed spending time with his young son. He was recently married
in September of 2011 and looked forward to a long and beautiful life with his new bride. He was an avid musician with an exceptional proficiency in drums, piano and music composition. He is survived by wife, Kathryn (Katy) Darby Wilson of Covington, son, Liam Anakin Wilson of Covington, mother, Gayle L. Hanson (DeKalb PD, ret.) of Conyers, father, John David (J.D.) Wilson of Decatur, step-father, James (Jim) E. Hanson, Jr. (DeKalb PD, ret.), sister, Haley Morgan Wilson of Conyers, step-brothers, Rev. Stacey Lynn Hanson (and family) of Roswell and Carey Dwayne Hanson (and family) of Covington.
Visitation for Corporal/Detective Wilson will held at Scot Ward Funeral Services in Conyers on Tuesday, November 15th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, November 16th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Conyers, 2100 Highway 138 NE, Conyers, GA 30013. Ethel Mullins
May 10, 1925 - November 13, 2011
Mrs. Ethel Mullins, age 86 of Conyers, died Sunday, November 13, 2011. Ethel (affectionately known as "Granny") was born in Nampa, Idaho on May 10, 1925. At the age of two, she and her parents moved back to West Plains, MO and lived on her grandfather's farm. She graduated from high school in West Plains and worked there until she married
Doyle Mullins in 1946. They lived in Tulsa, OK where he worked for the FAA. As soon as Karen was school age, Ethel went to work for the S.C. Orbach Co., a men's retail clothing store in Oklahoma City. In 1990 she retired from Orbach's after having worked there for over 37 years. She attended South Lee United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City where she was active in the women's group. She attended Salem United Methodist Church in Covington as long as her health permitted. She was an avid reader with Egyptian history and archeology being one of her favorite subjects. She loved to write everything from short stories and poems to letters to all the family members on a weekly basis. After she retired, she pieced quilts out of double knit fabric and supplied everyone she knew with quilts which were warm and practical for use almost everywhere including in the car, for children or pets. She even sent many to the homeless shelters. She enjoyed using the quilts she had made particularly during her final illness at home. She is predeceased by two sons-in-law, Jack R. Pugh and L. D. Mullins. She is survived by daughter, Karen Mullins, of Conyers, GA; grandsons, Denzil Pugh and Kelly Pugh of Conyers, GA; a sister, Myrtle DeLeeuw of East Wenatchee, WA; a brother, Roy Swearingen of Tulsa, OK; two cousins, Grace Lampitt and Helen Wilborn, both of West Plains, MO. One of her favorite sayings was, "You'll be okay, we'll just leave you by the gate." She has now arrived at the Gate, and she'll be okay. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Rev. Howard Greer officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends Tuesday, November 15, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mae Cameron
June 18, 1920 - May 25, 2012
Miss Bertha Mae Cameron, age 91, a retired CSX Railroad employee, died at Westbury Nursing Home in Conyers on May 25, 2012. Her body was cremated. Mae was born in Troup County, Ga., to the late Lawrence Bruce and Roberta Langford Cameron. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters who died at less than two years of age; then later by two brothers, Robert L. Cameron of LaGrange, Ga., and Ralph W. Cameron Sr. of Orange Park, Fla.; one sister, Annie L. Cameron of Conyers, Ga.; two nephews, Ralph W. Cameron Jr. of Orange Park, Fla., and Terry Cameron of Savannah, Ga. She is survived by her brother, Coleman Ray (Fran) Cameron of Conyers; three nephews, Michael P. Cameron of Conyers, Bobby L. (Babs) Cameron of Savannah, Ga., and Benjamin L. Cameron of Lewisburg, W. Va.; one niece, Joi Cameron, also of Lewisburg; plus several other great nieces and nephews. Mae had lived in Conyers for the past twenty-three years, having moved here from Louisville, Ky., where she was an active member of Bardstown Presbyterian Church, serving there as a deacon. Mae was also a Kentucky Colonel in the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, a nonprofit charitable organization. While living in Conyers, she was a very active member of Conyers Presbyterian Church, where she loved and appreciated her church family. She was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and AARP. Mae was blessed and her life extended by the efficient and loving care provided by Mrs. Cynthia Clarke, Mae's caregiver for seven years. The family will receive friends at Scot Ward Funeral Services at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens, 699 American Legion Road, Conyers, Ga., from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2012, to be followed by a memorial service in the chapel. Pastor Thomas F. Sparks, her minister at Conyers Presbyterian Church, will conduct the service at 4 o'clock. At a later date, her cremains, along with those of her sister, Miss Ann Cameron, who died on January 20, 2009, will be buried next to their parents in Mooty Cemetery, near Cameron's Crossing in LaGrange. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Conyers Presbyterian Church (911 N. Main St., Conyers, GA 30012) in Mae's name or to a charity of your choice.
Harold "Buck" Crumbley

Harold “Buck” Crumbley, age 70 of Conyers, died Friday, June 1, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Alice Crumbley and his brother, Pete Crumbley. Mr. Crumbley is survived by his brother, Larry and Brenda Crumbley, Stockbridge; sisters, Shirley and Raymond Dalton, Conyers, Faye and Tommy Knight, Conyers; sister-in-law, Ann Crumbley, Conyers; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Crumbley was a 1961 graduate of Rockdale County High School. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at East View cemetery with Rev. Ken Smith officiating. John William (Billy) Cash, age 81 of Conyers, died Monday, May 21, 2012. He is preceded by his parents, Ernest and Mary Ann Cash. Mr. Cash is survived by his wife, Esta M. Cash, Conyers; daughter, Pam Cash, Conyers; son, William Thomas Cash, Conyers; grandchildren, Janna Leigh Poe, Nichole Cash, T.J. Cash; brother, Bob Cash, St. James, MO; sister, Sherry Copeland, Marietta. Mr. Michael Anthony (Tony) Martin, age 47 of Conyers, died Friday, May 25, 2012. He was preceded in death by his father, B. Keith Martin. He is survived by his mother, Mary Martin, Connersville, IN; brothers, Ronald Martin, Oak Park, IL, Brian Martin, Quincy, IN; sisters, Brenda Butcher, Connersville, IN, Laura Studt, Laurel, IN; sons, Tony Greer, Covington, GA, Nicholas Jones, Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Sarah Barefeld, McKenzee Greer, Troy Anthony Greer; 7 nieces, 5 nephews, 7 great-nieces and 5 great-nephews. Mr. Martin was a lead design engineer for Acuity Brands Lighting. He graduated from Vincennes University in Vincennes, IN and was an avid volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. After a five month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Walker Hardy Hurdle, III passed away, Friday, June 1, 2012 at 7:30 AM while in the Vista Care Hospice unit at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Hurdle was a life-long land developer and owner of Hurdle Land and Realty and a member of First Baptist Church Monroe. He was preceded in death by his son, Adam Hurdle and granddaughter, Anna Hurdle. He is survived by his wife, Linda Hurdle, Monroe; sons, Geoff (Amber) Hurdle, Lebanon, TN, Matt (Marie) Hurdle, Monroe; grandchildren, Kristen Hurdle, Bethlehem, Brittany Hurdle, Lebanon, TN and Derek Sanders, Lebanon, TN.; Brother Bill (Kathleen) Hurdle, Mansfield, Ohio. A visitation and celebration of his life will be held Monday, June 4 from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM at the Carter-Watkins House on Broad Street in Monroe, Georgia. Mr. J. T. Wallace, age 89 of Conyers, died June 2, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years Mary Lou Wallace; daughter, Brenda Norton; and his wife of 30 years Bernice Wallace. He is survived by grandchildren, Wally and Lil Norton, Jason Norton, Wanda and Russell Jones, Sherry Elrod, Rhonda Elrod, Patti Healy; 2 great-grandchildren, Danielle and Jenna Healy; several nieces and nephews and many beloved friends. Mr. Wallace worked for Callaway Mills for 17 years. He was a WWII Veteran serving 2 years in the 8th Division 13th Infantry Army where he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and other medals. He was Past Master of Philologia Masonic Lodge # 178 and a member of Central Community Church in Covington. He served 4 years as Deputy Sheriff and 20 years as Sheriff of Rockdale County.
