Athens, GA - Barbara Morrison Crockford, 87, of Cavalier Road died Wednesday, October 27, 2004.
A native of Massachusetts, Mrs. Crockford was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred O. Crockford, and her son, Bruce E. Crockford. She retired from Sears, was a Red Cross Volunteer and a member of the Eastern Star and St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
Survivors include her sons, Ralph O. and Paul J. Crockford.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2004 in Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mandy Brady officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at Bernstein Funeral Home.
Lucille Martin David
1917-2005
Athens - Lucille Martin David, 87, of Fairlane Drive, passed away Wednesday April 6, 2005.
A native of Madison County, Mrs. David was the daughter of the late Avery Lee and Minnie Zodie Berryman Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Worley David; brother, Roy Lee Martin; and sisters, Eula Hix and Gertrude Smith. Mrs. David was a member of Galilee Holiness Church and she was active in the Senior Citizens Club at Edwards Chapel.
Survivors include sons, Donald David of Royston, W.D. David of Braselton, Freddie David of Commerce, Junior David, Darrell David both of Nicholson; daughters, Sylvia Walls of Bogart, Maxine Myers of Danielsville, Rose McDonald of Athens; 22 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday, April 8 in the Chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Kesler and Rev. Brian David officiating.
The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 – 9 pm Thursday at Bernstein Funeral Home.
The family will be at the residence of her daughter Maxine Myers, 112 Woodland Dr., Danielsville, Ga.

Howard Dawson
1939-2005
Athens, Ga - Howard Dawson of Danielsville Rd. passed away on June 4, 2005.
A native of Sweetwater, Tennessee, Mr. Dawson was the son of the late Jack C. and Carolyn Inez Shoemaker Dawson. and he owned and operated the 106 Motors on Danielsville Rd for over 30 years.
Survivors include his wife Rita Edwards Dawson of Athens; daughters Karen Dawson of Athens and Cynthia Dawson of Atlanta; step daughters Lisa Lyon and April Lyon both of Athens; brothers Henry Dawson, J.T. Dawson and Willlie Dawson all of Sweetwater, TN and Ozell Dawson of Kingston, TN ; sister Mae Guinn of Madisonville, TN and nine grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM Wednesday at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Ike Hanley officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Bernstein from 6-8PM Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Hamilton, Tyler Lyon, Matthew Busbin, Curtis Phillips, Josh Deal and John Barton.

Pierre John Debs
1927-2005
Pierre John Debs, Professor Emeritus UGA, age 77, of 1270 Robinhood Rd passed away on Monday, May 2, 2005.
Born in Beirut, Lebanon, he was the son of the late John Pierre and Mable Kabalan Debs. Mr. Debs received both his Certificate of Industrial Design and Bachelor of Industrial Design Degree from Pratt Institute of Art and his Master of Science Degree, Interior Design from Florida State University. He began his teaching career at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1966 and joined the University of Georgia Faculty in 1986 where he was Professor, Interior Design, Art Appreciation until his retirement. Mr. Debs served with the United States Marine Corps during WWII and attended Grace Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Viola Brown Debs of Watkinsville; sons John Paul Debs of Boone NC and Pierre Rena Debs of Los Angeles, CA; daughters Tina Marie Erwin of San Diego, Ca and Andrea Roseann Harris of Virginia Beech, VA; step children Jeff Lee and Melissa Sanders of Watkinsville; Craig Lee of Auburn, Ga and Tracey E. Evans, of Athens; sister Nadia Capp of Columbus; 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1PM Thursday, May 5, 2005, at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Strickland and Rev. Darrell Pruitt officiating. The family will receive friends at Bernstein from 7-9PM Wednesday. Flowers will be accepted, however the family asks that contributions be made to Odyssey Hospice, 575 Research Dr., Suite A, Athens, Ga. 30605.

Howard (Buddy) Dillard
1946-2004
Athens, GA - Howard L. (Buddy) Dillard, 58, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004.
A native of Cochran, GA, Buddy was a son of Josie Kate Dillard and the late Reuben H. Dillard. He was a graduate of Cochran High School. He attended the Air Force Academy and graduated from the University of Georgia. He started Dillard Realty in 1976 and continued as its President until his death. During his career, he served as President of the Athens Board of Realtors, President of Clarke Central Touchdown Club, and Alumni Advisor for the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He was a member and avid supporter of the Athens YMCA. Buddy recently received the Life Time Meritorious Service Award from the Athens Area Association of Realtors and the Order of Merit from the Lambda Chi Alpha National Fraternity. In April of this year, the Fitness Center at the Athens YMCA was dedicated to Buddy in honor of his long time support of the youth programs and strong dedication to fitness.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Mickey Dillard; sons: Andy and Joey Dillard; brother, Larry Dillard; sister-in-law, Reesie Dillard; niece and nephew: Amanda and John Michael Dillard; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Emmit and Becky Renfroe of Statesboro; and niece and nephew, Trey and Emily Renfroe.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2004 in the Chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home. Grant Lamar Dooley, Sr.
1921-2005
Athens, GA - Grant Lamar Dooley, Sr., 83, of Athens, passed away Monday, January 10, 2005.
A native of Oconee County, Mr. Dooley was the son of Ed and Olivia Autry Dooley. A Veteran of the United States Navy, he served in WWII. A retired pharmacist, Mr. Dooley owned C&D; Pharmacy, Dooley Sick Room Supply and Village Drug Shop. He was a member of the St. James United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy Dooley, survivors include a daughter, Lynn Powell of Marietta; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Arnold Medlock of Columbia, SC; a son and daughter-in-law, Grant and Phyllis Dooley, Jr. of Winder; two grandchildren, Katie and Matt Medlock.
Graveside Services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with Rev. Kent Reynolds officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 Wednesday evening at Bernstein Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. James United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Betty Jo Doster
1927-2005
Athens, GA - Betty Jo Doster, Beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Mother-in-Law, Grandmother and friend to many, journeyed home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 14, 2005, at her residence after a lengthy illness. Her love, warmth and kindness will be missed.
A native of Winder she was the daughter of the late Jack and Annie Wilbanks and was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Ellis and Charlotte Wilbanks, and two brothers, Kenneth and Royce Wilbanks.
She and her husband Will Doster, met and married
in 1948 and they shared 57 wonderful years together. Her life revolved around the love of her family and close friends. She was always known for her kindness to others and she was recognized by the VA Hospital of Decatur, Georgia for 16 years of service as a volunteer. Betty was considered the backbone of her family. Her strength, determination, strong will and love of life will be missed by all.
Survivors include her husband, Will Doster; two sons and their wives, Tom and Martha Doster of Athens, GA, Mike and Kathy Doster of Tucker, GA, and one grandson, Michael Doster. She is also survived by four sisters, Jackie Wheeler of Winder, GA, Helen Mitchell of Staham, GA, Beverly Langford of Decatur, GA, and Martha Warwick of Atlanta, GA and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be 3 pm Sunday September 18, 2005 at Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Britt and Rev. Louis Miller officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Saturday, September 17, 2005 at Bernstein Funeral Home.
Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Minnie Dell Draper
1919-2004
Athens, GA - Minnie Dell Draper, 85, died Thursday, July 15, 2004.
A native of Madison County, Ms Draper was the daughter of the late James Henry and Mozelle Strickland Draper. She was retired from Westclox/General Time.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Annie Mae Draper of Athens and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating.
The family will receive friends at Bernstein Funeral Home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00.

Peter John Dyson
1923-2004
Athens, GA - Peter John Dyson, 81, died at home Wednesday, August 25, 2004.
A native of Toronto, Canada, Mr. Dyson was a son of the late James John and Kate Smith Dyson. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Gwen Andrews of Ontario, Canada, Leroy Dyson of Utah, Irene Beale and Betty Duckworth both of Toronto, Canada. He retired from the University of Georgia School Of Forestry where he was a professor for 23 years. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was Stake Patriarch. He will always be remembered by many in Athens for his love and generosity towards everyone he met. He always found time to speak to people and could be counted on for any help that was needed.
Survivors include his wife, Gwyneth Dyson of Athens; sons: John A. Dyson of Fukuoka, Japan, James E. Dyson of Athens, and Paul L. Dyson of Kailua, Hawaii; sisters: Dorothy Smith of Ontario, Canada and Margaret Leeder of British Columbia, Canada; brother, Keith Dyson of Manitoba, Canada; grandchildren: James Dyson of Colorado, Jennifer Dyson, Joshua Dyson and Justin Dyson all of Athens, Piper Boswell of Louisiana, Ryan Dyson and Whitney Watford both of Hawaii, Hannah Dyson, Samuel Dyson and Elizabeth Dyson all of Japan; and one great grandson, Seth Watford.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2004 at the Latter-day Saints Church, 706 Whitehead Road with Bishop George McLain officiating.

Annie (Sherman) Eastman
1913-2005
Athens - Annie Eastman, 91, of Forest Heights Drive, died on Tuesday May 10, 2005.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Eastman was the daughter of the late Charles and Harriett Beale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Eastman. Mrs. Eastman was a retired secretary in the Health Care industry and a member of Chapelwood U. M. Church where she taught in the nursery for 10 years.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Susan E. and David C. Sherman; grandsons and wives, Phillip A. and Sue Ellen Sherman, Kenneth D. and Joleen Sherman and David A. and Jennifer Sherman; great grandchildren, Madison, Hillary, Evan, Jeffrey and Samuel; She was also a “special grandma” to Adam Lessard.
There will be a Memorial Service 7:30 pm Thursday, May 12, at Chapelwood U.M. Church with Rev. Thom Shores.

Statham, GA - John Randolph Elzea, 60, of Ashland Drive died Sunday, July 18, 2004.
A native of Milan, Tennessee, Mr. Elzea was the son of the late John Wood and Grace Goulson Elzea. He was a retired antique arms dealer. He was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, Troop Leader of Pact#326 of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and member of A.A.R.P., and N.R.A.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Glynn Anderson Elzea; sons: Illya Randolph Elzea and Eric Wood Elzea, all of Statham.
Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2004 in Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel.

Athens, Ga - Elmer Loyd Watkins, 595 S. Poplar Street passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2004.
A native of Madison Co, Mr. Watkins was the son of the late Fred and Pearlie Mae Epps Watkins. A loving father, grandfather and great grandfather Mr. Watkins was retired from the Dillard Company after 30 years and was a member of the Johnson Drive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years Reba Lavender Watkins of Athens; daughter and son in law Donna and Jerry Smith of Flowery Branch; sister, Mae Dulaney of Athens; grandchildren Stephanie and Kenneth Ledford and Jennifer Smith; great grandsons Noah and Elijah Ledford and a number of nieces and nephews.
