Dorothy Carithers
Dorothy Broach Carithers Mrs. Dorothy Broach Carithers of Monroe, passed away June 23, 2015 at 93. A native of Monroe, she was the daughter of the late Hurst and Margaret Adcock Broach. She was a born caretaker and spent her years caring for several different members of the family including her parents before their deaths and her middle daughter, Shirley, prior to her death. Mrs. Carithers was a member of Mt. Vernon Christian Church and was loved by all that knew her. Mrs. Carithers was preceded in death by her parents, several siblings, her husband, Sam W. Carithers, and daughters, Shirley Adcock and Chris Whitley. She is survived by her daughter, Frankie Cape of Monroe; son-in-law, Wes Whitley of Monroe; Grandchildren, Brent (Melissa) Cape of Loganville, Nena-Estelle Nicholle (Nikki) Whitley of Lawrenceville and Corey Whitley of Monroe. Great-Grandchildren, Evan Messer and Devan Cape; and sister, Linda Broach Sellers of Social Circle. To Granny: We love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.

Jimmy Evans
James Madison "Jimmy" Evans, Jr., age 78, of Monroe, died on June 14, 2015. He was born in Atlanta, GA on March 6, 1937 to the late Leola Lowry Evans and the late James Madison Evans, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Evans of Monroe; daughters and sons in law, Pam and Marty Grogan of Gainesville, Selena and Dale Branch of Jefferson; son, Mike Evans of Monroe; grandchildren: Kevin Grogan, Brooke Grogan, Michael Evans, Jr., Charlie and Taylor McClure, Hadley Bowles, Reese Bowles, Chandler Bowles, Sydney Bowles; step grandchildren, DeVante Branch, Dorian Branch; great grandchild, Brock Evans. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:00 am at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Fountain, Sr. officiating. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Wilson
Wilson, Ken (Beef) 53 of Snellville, GA passed away June 17, 2015 after a brief battle with lung and brain cancer. He was born on November 25, 1961 in Atlanta, GA to the late Frank & Margaret Wilson. Ken had been an automotive technician. He spent the last 12 years on disability from a back injury. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Beth, his children Miranda, Michael, & Matthew, his children in-laws Kevin, Maegan, & Alissa, his 8 grandchildren Tori, Ashton, Austin, Will, Jade, Erika, Jordan, & Spencer. He is survived by his brother, Randy Wilson & his wife, Rhonda, his in-laws Bill & Marta Meek, his sister in-law Kim & David Hall, Jonnie Moore, Bobby Meek, and several nieces, nephews, & cousins. Visitation will be at Meadows Funeral Home on Hwy 11 in Monroe, GA on Saturday, June 20th from 4:00pm - 7:00pm. Ken didn't like flowers because they died. In lieu of flowers please feel free to make a donation to The Ken Wilson Memorial Fund at gofundme.com/x7t4mks or make a donation to The American Cancer Society and earmark it for lung cancer research in memory of Ken.

Cody Glynn Patterson
Cody Glynn Patterson, beloved son of Glynn and Cindy Patterson, passed away July 25, 2015. Visitation will be held at Meadows Funeral Home on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 1:00 pm. A memorial service will proceed in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home at 2:00 pm. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Jonathan Kelly
Jonathan Keith Kelly, age 31, of Monroe, died on July 24, 2015. He was born in Walton County on December 3, 1983 to Regina Ann Wilbanks Skinner and Keith Elma Kelly. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Kelly of Monroe; mother and step father, Regina and Tim Skinner of Monroe; father and step mother, Keith and Cathy Kelly of Monroe; grandmother, Darlene Hicks of Nicholson; daughter, Mikynzie Sears; sons, Nathan Sears, Hunter Atchley; sisters, Jessica Kelly of Nicholson, Beth Kelly of Nicholson; step brothers, Anthony Anderson of Monroe; Chuck Coker of Monroe. Funeral services were Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Jersey Holiness Church. Interment followed at Jersey Holiness Church Cemetery. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Martha Mclendon
Martha Delia McLendon, age 103, Rutledge, died on July 22, 2015. She was born in Thomson, GA on April 11, 1912, to the late Annie Kate and William Samuel Shields. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Nick McLendon. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Ann and Jerry Morrow of Loganville; sons and daughters in law, Joe and Paula McLendon of Brunswick, Tom and Kay McLendon of Rutledge; 7 grandchildren and 12 ½ great grandchildren. Funeral services were Friday, July 24, 2015 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Social Circle Tribble Chapel. Interment followed at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens in Thomson, GA. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Tommy Dillard
Tommy Edwin Dillard, age 89, of Monroe, died on July 18, 2015. He was born in Walton County on December 18, 1925 to the late Mae Michael Dillard and the late Ernest Lee Dillard. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Annie Dee Sims Dillard. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Rickey and Margaret Dillard of Monroe. Funeral services were Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Kadar White officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Vernon Christian Church Cemetery. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Lois Miller Lois Miller, age 94, of Monroe, died on July 17, 2015. She was born on May 7th 1921 to the late Lillie Mae Harper and the late George Autry. She was preceded in death by her Husband, the late J.P. Miller Surviving are: daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Rex Cates of Monroe, Son and daughter-in-law Leo and Margaret Miller of Monroe, sister Elizabeth Atha of Monroe; 4 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. Funeral services were Monday, July 20, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Wes Sanders, officiating. Interment followed at Resthaven Cemetery. Reba Merle Stone, age 79, of Bishop, died on July 16, 2015. She was born on November 11, 1935 to the late Dessie Lee Pulliam Evans and the late D.J. Evans. She was preceded in death by her brother, the late Mack Evans. Surviving are: husband, Buford Stone of Bishop, sons and daughters in law, Ron and Lola Stone of Madison, David and Martha Stone of Bishop Stone of Bishop, Kenneth Stone of Bishop; sisters and brothers in law, Jean and Allen Slaton of Comer, Tempie and Robby Martin of Watkinsville, Terrie and Willie Wood of Milledgeville; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 18th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Meadows Funeral Home in Monroe, GA. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 19th at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Wiggins officiating. Interment will follow at Bostwick City Cemetery. Tommy Price
Tommy Price, age 76, of Monroe, died on July 15, 2015. He was born in Walton County on August 29, 1938 to the late Lillie Patton Price and the late Tom Price. He was preceded in death by his son, the late Randy Price. Surviving are: wife, Joyce Price of Monroe; sons and daughters in law, Andy and Cindy Price of Monroe, Terry and Amy Price of Commerce, Jerry Price of Auburn, sister, Callie Peppers of Monroe; brother, John Price of Monroe; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral services were Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Yancey, Rev. Frankie Green, and Rev. Mike Farmer, officiating. Carl Randall Burgess
Carl Randall Burgess, age 66, of Monroe, passed away on July 4, 2015. He was born in Athens, GA on October 4, 1948 to the late Carl C. Burgess and Mrytle Louise Burgess. He was married to his loving wife, Barbara, for 48 years. He was a Mason at Davidson Lodge #103 and a member of Faith Baptist Church of Monroe. Surviving family members are: wife, Barbara Ann Burgess; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Kellie Burgess; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Frank Heusser; daughter, Ashley Burgess; grandchildren, Billie and Archie Burgess, Frankie, Raegan, and Faith Heusser; sister, Millie Bradford; brother, Bruce and spouse Angie Burgess. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 7, with the Rev. Don Malcom and the Rev. Chris Conner and entombment at Hill Haven Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children's Health Care of Atlanta at Scottish Rite (choa.org) or Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation (pkdcure.org). Robert "Bobby" Stone Moore, age 80, of Monroe, died on September 5, 2015. He was born in Monroe, GA on March 12th, 1935 to the late Sara Frances Stone Moore Hester and the late Robert Nathan Moore. He is survived by his wife, Cora Bell Moore of Monroe, GA; daughter and son-in-law Robin and Warren Chadwick of Monroe, son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Jill Moore of Bogart, GA; daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Randy Atha of Monroe, GA; grandchildren, Maroline and Rocky Pohlel of Monroe, GA; Matthew and Julie Waller of Monroe, Ga, Morgan and Sam Waters of Conyers, Ga Kyle Moore of Buckhead, Ga, Ryan Moore of Bogart, Ga; great-grandchildren, Garrett and Gibson Pohlel;sister and brother-in-law, Janel and Mark McCullers of Greensboro, GA; and nephew, Donald Jones of Monroe. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Bold Springs United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held for one hour before the memorial service, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Bold Springs United Methodist Church.

Maranda "Mandy" Garrett
Maranda Marie Edmondson Garrett, age 30, of Monroe, died on September 5, 2015. She was born on June 3, 1985 in Walton County to the late Janet Marie Edmondson and Michael Keith Edmondson. Surviving are: Husband, Waylon Garrett of Monroe; sons, Addison and Madix Garrett of Monroe; father Michael Keith Edmondson of Monroe; brothers and sister-in-law, Robbie Edmondson and Michael and Jessica Edmondson of Monroe; grandparents, Robert and Charlotte Edmondson of Good Hope, Edward F. Childers of Monroe, and Loraine and Wayne Whitley of Greene County. Also, aunts and uncles, Joyce Childers, Jackie and Brian Collins, Jimmy Floyde Johnson, Lynn and Millie Edmondson, Eugene and Lee Edmondson, and Charles Edmondson; nieces, Makaila, Aubrey, and Gracie Edmondson Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Carol Ann Hamilton
Carol Ann Hamilton, age 59, of Monroe, died on September 2, 2015. She was born in Clarke County on August 22, 1956 to the late Nora Allen Burgess and the late Lewis Edgar Burgess. She is survived by her significant other, James McArthur Mitchell of Monroe; son, Michael Jason Hamilton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Jennifer Burgess of Rutledge, Terry and Kathy Burgess of Monroe. A graveside service was held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Hill Haven Memory Gardens with Rev. Don Malcom officiating. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Jean Jones
Jean Broach Jones, age 88, of Monroe, died on September 2, 2015. She was born in Walton County on June 9, 1927 to the late Curtis Byrd Broach and the late Jones Alton Broach. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Walter Harold Jones, and by her son, the late Steven Lee Jones. Surviving are: daughters and sons in law, Shirley and John Bramblett, of Monroe, Jenny and Harold Johnson of Monroe; sons and daughters in law, Donnie and Alice Jones of Fortson; Terry and Jan Jones of Monroe; sister, Joan Hataway of Winterville; 10 Grandchildren, and 9 Great Grandchildren. Funeral services were Friday, September 4, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Brant Callaway officiating. Interment followed at Good Hope Christian Church Cemetery. Julius Cooper
Julius Raymond Cooper, age 90, of Lilburn, died on August 22, 2015. He was born in Walton County on May 16, 1925 to the late Della Mae Jones Cooper and the late Curry Claude Cooper. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Carolyn Cooper, and by his sisters, the late Mary Riden, the late Edna Stowe, Evelyn Myers, and the late Carolyn Day. He is survived by his daughters, Judieth Cooper of Lilburn, Karen Cooper of Doraville; and several nieces and nephews. A visitation and funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2015. The visitation will be from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. The Funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Pinkerton and Rev. Don Malcom officiating. David Mitchell
Dr. David Anderson Mitchell, age 77, of Monroe, . GA, . Previously of Gainesville, FL, passed away on August 21, 2015, from congestive heart failure. David was born January 1, 1938, in Potlatch, Idaho, to Robert Anderson Mitchell and Ethel Marian Reynolds. He was an only child. David grew up In Mosco Idaho, Tulare, CA, and Ellensburg, WA. He graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Washington State University in 1964. Most of his career was spent as an administrator with the Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. He was the Veterinarian in Charge of Washington, Oregon and Alaska regarding importation and exportation of animals into and out of the state plus elimination- and/or control of cattle diseases, and then the AVIC of Florida until h retired in 1993. During his tenure with the USDA, he received many awards from the Secretary of Agriculture for his Federal service and accomplishments. He was Instrumental In the elimination of brucellosis in the state of Florida. He was also in charge of the task force in California for eliminating t e threat of Newcastle disease In chickens. He was one of two foreign animal disease diagnosticians in e" United States. David loved to tell stories of his life and adventures. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He was an avid fisherman, amateur ham radio operator, and, being a veterinarian, a lover of all animals. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Becky; children, Todd Mitchell (Theresa); Susan Riley (Jeff); grandchildren Brett Mitchell, Wheeler Mitchell and Becca Mitchell, and his faithful, loving Rat Terrier, Tilly. The service for David will be held Monday, August 24, 2015, at 4:00-p.m. at Union Chapel Methodist Church, Pannel Rd., Monroe, GA, with Rev. Roger Canuel officiating. Burial will take place after the service at Hill Haven Memorial Gardens, Monroe. Meadows Funeral Home, Monroe
