She was born in Norwich, NY on November 16, 1926 to the late Ruth Hall Weed and the late Harold Weed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, the late Rab Kelly, and by her daughter-in-law, the late Carolyn Kelly. Surviving are: daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and David McGaughey of Lavonia; son, Robert "Bob" Kelly of Monroe; brother and sister-in-law, Edmund and Nancy Weed of Rome, NY; 3 grandchildren, Shelly (Jason) Blalock, Courtney (Corey) O'Brien and Collin Kelly and 6 great grandchildren. She was a secretary for Confederate Avenue Baptist Church, where she was a life-long member, and Rich's Department Store. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Meadows Funeral Home in Monroe, GA from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, followed by a graveside service at 3:30 pm at Rest Haven Cemetery, Monroe. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Rusty Hays
Russell 'Rusty' Anthony Hays Russell 'Rusty' Anthony Hays, age 60 of Monroe, died on February 12, 2015. He was born in Atlanta, GA on February 6, 1955 to Loyd Hays and the late Jo Anne Young Hays. Surviving are: Wife: Linda Hays of Monroe; Daughters: Laura Atkinson of Lewisburg, WV and Amanda Knight of Sheffield, AL; Son: Dennis Tulloh of Lewisburg, WV; Father: Loyd Hays of Monroe; Sister and Brother in Law: Robin and Mark Yarbrough of Monroe; and 9 Grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday February 22nd at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M.. The family will have visitation on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Meadows Funeral Home.

Ronald William Rowland
Ronald William Rowland, age 81, of Social Circle, died on February 16, 2015. He was born in Murphy, NC on June 10, 1933 to the late Lenora Grindstaff Rowland and the late Charlie Rowland. Surviving are: wife, Virginia B. Rowland of Social Circle, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Larry Presley of Charlotte, NC, Kaye and Eddie Gibbs of Hillsboro, GA, Pam and Mitch Davis of Gastonia, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Karen Rowland of Gastonia, NC; step-daughters and step-son-in-law, Sheila and Richard Long of Smyrna, GA, Sharon Camp of Covington, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Butch Steele of Gastonia, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Carolyn Rowland of Gastonia, NC; 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Funeral services were Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Hardy officiating. Interment followed at Social Circle City Cemetery. John Foster
John Fletcher Foster, age 87, of Monroe, died on February 8, 2015. He was born in Walton County on December 12, 1927 top the late Bessie Peters Foster and the late Claude Foster. Surviving are: wife, Betty Foster of Monroe; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Jimmy Greer of Otto, NC; sisters, Sara Dial of Monroe, Dot Foster of Monroe; brother, Robert Foster of Provo, UT, grandchildren, Kresta Foster, Jonathan Greer, Tiffany Maddox, Justine Goff; 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 11:00 am at the First Christian Church of Monroe with Rev. Darrell Portwood officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Vernon Christian Church Cemetery. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Deborah Breedlove
Deborah DeMore Breedlove, age 56, of Monroe, died on February 5, 2015. She was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on March 25, 1958 to the late Mae Carlin DeMore and the late George DeMore. Surviving are: Husband, Preston Breedlove of Monroe; sons and daughter-in-law, Cade and Nicole Livsey of Winder, Tyler Livsey of Monroe; and sister, Carlin Hope Lutz of Stone Mountain. A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 8, 2015 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Marion Prather officiating. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Anderson
Sarah Margaret Anderson was born in Monticello, KY on July 24, 1944 to the late James R. "J.R." Winchester and the late Dona A. Miller Winchester. Margaret is survived by her three daughters: Libby and Tommy Arnold of Monroe, Mary and William Malcom of Good Hope, Susan and Mark Adcock of Monroe; Son: Stephen Anderson of Monroe; Brother, Johnny and Sandra Winchester; Sisters, Lela Smith, Maxine Coffey, Anna Belle Shelton, Lorene and Clifford Slagle, and Betty Abbott, all of Monticello, KY; 11 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, the late Boyd Leroy Anderson; her parents, the late James and Dona Winchester; brother: the late Otis Winchester, the late Ray Winchester, and the late Thomas Winchester. Funeral Services were held on Sunday February 8th at 2:00 P.M. at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanley Anderson officiating. Interment followed at Westlawn Cemetery. Maggie Henderson
Maggie Louise Henderson, 85, daughter of Edna Ruth Allgood Maughon and William Foster Maughon, passed away quietly on Jan. 30, 2015, at the Haven Hospice in Chiefland, Fla., after a lengthy battle with stomach cancer. Henderson is survived by her son, Steven Hammond and Timothy Hammond; daughter, Janice Dunne; grandsons, Sean Dunne and Edward Dunne; sister, Mary Maughon Rowe; cousin, Doris Smallwood; as well as nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Hammond and husbands, Otis Hammond and James Henderson, both World War II veterans. Henderson was an active member of Old'Town United Methodist Church in Old Town, Fla., and a former member of the United Methodist Church of Monroe. She will be remembered as the quiet confidence that was always there to lend support and provide a delicious meal for anyone in need. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at Meadows Funeral Home in Monroe. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Meadows Funeral Home, with graveside service and burial following at Shiloh United Methodist Church cemetery in Covington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Henderson's memory to Haven Hospice, 311 NE 9th St., Chiefland, FL 32626.

Brenda Chambers
Brenda Chambers Brenda Chambers, age 58, of Monroe, died on February 4, 2015. She was born in Atlanta, GA on May 1, 1956 to the late Lollie Belle Smith Chambers and G.W. Chambers. She was preceded in death by her sister, the late Linda Johnston, and by her brothers, the late James Chambers and the late Johnnie Chambers. She is survived by her father, G.W. Chambers of Monroe; daughters, Stacy McCullers of Monroe, Heather Webster of Monroe; son, Jayson Lowe of Monroe; sisters, Mozelle Link of Monroe, Pat Perry of Winder, Connie Malcom of Monroe, Deborah Roberts of Monroe, Kathy Chambers of Monroe; brothers, Jimmy Chambers of Monroe, Jerry Chambers of Monroe; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Don Malcom officiating. Interment followed Hill Haven Memory Gardens. Vivian Malcom
Vivian Malcom Vivian Roberts Malcom, age 82, of Monroe, died on February 3, 2015. He was born in Walton County on May 20, 1932 to the late Lucile Roberts Malcom and the late William Addison Malcom. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Frances Guynell Malcom. Surviving are: daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Terry Allgood of Monroe, Lisa and Dale Wiley of Covington, Marlene and Rick Snow of Monroe; son, Danny Malcom of Monroe; sisters and brothers-in-law, Winifred and Harold Palmer of Monroe, Faye and Dan Jackson of Monroe; brothers and sister-in-law, Gerald and Carolyn Malcom of Monroe, Frankie Malcom of Madison; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services were Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Box officiating. Interment followed at Malcom Cemetery. Frances Robertson
Frances Robertson Frances Robertson, age 72 of Monroe, died on January 27, 2015. She was born in Oconee County on January 10, 1943 to the late Callie Davis Rutledge and the late Emory Rutledge. She was preceded in death by her daughter, the late Carrie Jean Robertson, and by her son, the late Adam Robertson. Surviving are: son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Andrea Payne of Monroe; sisters, Mary Lazenby of Ackworth, Linda Atkins of Lawrenceville; cousins, Rudolph and Anne Davis of Monroe; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Burt officiating. Interment followed at Hill Haven Memory Gardens. She was preceded in death by her husbands, the late Rufus C. Harper, and the late J.T. Wellborn. Surviving are: son and daughter-in-law; Jerry and Lea Harper of Peachtree Corners, GA. Doris Moore Doris "Dot" Moore, age 89, of Monroe, died on January 24, 2015. She was born in Walton County on June 2, 1925 to the late Ora Hogan Moore and the late Elmer Moore. Carolyn Oliver Carolyn Sorrells Oliver, age 92, of Monroe, died on January 21, 2015. She was born in Walton County on November 23, 1922 to the late Claudine Hester Sorrells and the late Clarence P. Sorrells. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Dallas Marvin Oliver, and by her son, the late Clarence Marvin Oliver. Surviving are: daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Lewis Somberg of Brookfield, WI; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Debbie Oliver of Hartwell; 6 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. A visitation will be held from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm, and the funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Kader White officiating. Judy Callaway
Judy Callaway Judy Rebecca Callaway, age 57, of Covington, died on January 20, 2015. She was born in Walton County on April 23, 1957 to the late Thelma Thompson Jackson and the late Oscar Harold Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Steve Callaway. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Trish and Johnny Cox of Covington; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Keely Callaway of Townville, SC, sisters, Diane Murrell of Ila, Sybil Walls of Monroe, Ann Ingram of Winder, Pam Mitchell of Monroe; grandchildren, Amanda Davis, Amber Davis, Emily Peters, Haley Callaway, Riley Callaway, Karly Callaway; great grandchildren, Kinsley Peters, and Kamden Peters. A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Barrett officiating. Marjorie Dodson
Marjorie Poole Dodson, age 92, of Loganville, died on January 13, 2015. She was born in Rockmart, GA on February 18, 1922 to the late Myrtle Jones Poole, and the late Guy Poole. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Ralph Dodson, and by her twin sons, the late Kerry Dodson, and the late Terry Dodson. Surviving are: sons and daughters-in-laws, Ralph Dodson of Loganville, Sam and Lucann Dodson of Snellville, Tim and Anita Dodson of Monroe; grandchildren, Tracie Dodson, Tania Dodson, Shay Rubin, Jack Dodson; great grandchildren, Carson Rubin and Kendall Rubin. Funeral services were held on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Don Malcom officiating. Interment followed at Eternal Hills Cemetery. Timothy Holder
Timothy Ray Holder, 46, of Statham, died on January 12, 2015 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born and grew up in Walton County, Georgia and was preceded in death by his brother and hero, Tommy Holder. He is survived by his parents, Roy P. Holder and Miriam Rutledge Holder of Walton County, his partner and wife Kimberly Ellis and son Joseph Ray Ellis Holder of Statham, sister Carol Holder Anderson, brother-in-law Marty Anderson and nephew Judson Bret Anderson of Loganville and his niece Holli Holder. Tim grew up in Walton County and graduated from George Walton Academy where is excelled as a student and athlete, happy to tell you about his days of "playing both sides of the ball" for the GWA football team. He attended the University of Georgia. As a profession, Tim chose to work with and protect what he called earth's most precious resource, water. He worked with the treatment of water in both municipal and industrial settings. During his career, he worked for Standridge Color Corporation in Social Circle and the City of Social Circle. He was a proud employee of Athens-Clarke County's Water Reclamation department where he started as an operator in 2001, later served as a plant supervisor and finally the Superintendent for all three water reclamation plants in Athens-Clarke County. Tim loved Southern Rock, good BBQ, Andy Griffith, Sanford and Son and Georgia Bulldog Football. His greatest love was his family and friends. All could count on Tim to put a smile on their faces. The family would like to thank all the friends, too many to name, who provided love, support and faith during his battle. Kim and Joey would particularly like to thank the employees of Athens-Clarke County (present and past) for the care, love, support and many happy memories they have given to us. He was blessed to work with such fine people. Kim and Joey must also mention their thanks for the continued support and love shown by the staff of University Housing, University of Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home www.meadowsfuneralhomeinc.com. Visitation will take place before the service from 12:00 - 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, Tim asked those to consider a donation to the University Cancer and Blood Center. Their fund assists patients struggling with the financial burden of fighting cancer.

Dorothy Ellen Hogan, age 73, of Monroe, died on January 14, 2015. She was born in Walton County on July 2, 1941 to the late Naomi Hester Gordon and the late Bonnie Gordon. She was preceded in death by her son, the late Jimmy Hogan. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Betty and Steve Harris of Monroe, Carol and Larry Malcom of Athens; sons and daughters-in-law, Rickey and Linda Hogan of Monroe, Johnny and Norma Hogan of Monroe, Michael and Annette Hogan of Monroe; Sharon Hogan of Monroe; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Connie Gordon of Monroe; 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Arrington officiating. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Ellie Guthrie Sewell
Ellie Guthrie Sewell, age 88 of Monroe, died on January 14, 2015. She was born in Mansfield, GA on July 30, 1926 to the late Eva Anglin and the late Muray Thomas Anglin. She was preceded in death by her husbands, the late Alvin Guthrie, and the late Lee Sewell; her sisters, the late Kathryn Page, the late Dorthy Wiley, and the late Margaret Knight; brothers, the late Elmer Anglin, the late Johnny Anglin; and grandson, the late Brant Guthrie. Surviving are: daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Ronald Jacobs of Monroe; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Debbi Guthrie of Good Hope, Randy and Lauri Guthrie of West Richland, WA; sister, Nell Smith of Social Circle; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services were Friday, January 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Loretta Stone and Rev. Patrick Faulhaber officiating. Interment followed at Westlawn Cemetery. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Rachel Verner
Rachel Jackson Verner Rachel Jackson Verner, age 93, of Monroe, died on January 12, 2015. She was born in Walton County on July 8, 1922 to the late Stokes W. Jackson and Madge Breedlove Jackson. She ws preceded in death by her husband, the late Paul Verner, her sisters, Joanne Pentecost and Frances Miller, her brother, Winburn Jackson. Surviving are: daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Tommy Conner, Paulette and Jim Monaghan and Rebecca and Sep LaCour, and son, tom Verner. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Andy Callaway, Barry Callaway, Tripp Conner, Natalie Monaghan and Katie Monaghan and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services were Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Center Hill Baptist Church in Gratis with Rev. Jason Anglin officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Doris Short
Doris Ann Short, age 87, of Monroe, died on January 13, 2015. She was born in Hapeville, GA on August 7, 1927 to the late Allene Palmer Dial and the late Hersha Dial. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Jack Short. Surviving are: daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Gerald Atha of Monroe; sons and daughter-in-law, Mike and Kathy Short of Monroe, Randy Short of Nicholville; sister-in-law, Rachel Dial of Dacula; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A graveside service was held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 1:30 pm at Resthaven cemetery with Rev. Lee Peters officiating. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
