Funeral services were held on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Blounts Chapel AME Church, Bartow, with Rev. James Jenkins officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Annie L. Murray, Dayton, Ohio; daughter, Willie Mae Hill, Wadley; two sons, Joe Louis (Carolyn) Hudson, Attleboro, Mass., and Willie Gene Green, Atlanta; stepdaughter, Inez Harbour, Dayton, Ohio; two stepsons, Robert Woods, Vero Beach, Fla., and Arlester Woods, Fredericksburg, Va.; one brother, Oscar Thomas, New Britain, Conn.; 13 grandchildren, three of which were reared as his own, Robert (Annie) Hudson, Louisville, and Wanda H. Taylor and Clara (Tommie) Kemp, Wadley; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mr. James Marvin Napier Sr.
James Marvin Napier Sr., 81, entered into rest on Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Gloverville Church, Gloverville, S.C., at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, with his son, Rev. Jimmy Napier, officiating. Interment will follow in the Graniteville Cemetery.
Born to the late William Edward Napier and late Annie Roberson Napier, Mr. Napier was a resident of Aiken County. He was employed by Graniteville Company and Savannah River Plant before entering the ministry. He served as pastor of seven Southern Baptist churches—Mt. Horeb in Wrens, Mt. Lebanon in Augusta, Woodlawn in Baxley, Silvercrest in Augusta, Talatha in Aiken, S.C., Marshall Memorial in Eatonton, and Victory in Milledgeville.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Annie N. Wardell and Mildred N. Givens; and his brother, William Lewis Napier.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Evelyn Johnson Napier; three children, James Marvin “Jimmy” Napier Jr. (Barbara), Miriam N. James (Raymond), and Deborah N. Hobbs (Ronnie); his brother, Clarence E. Napier (Joyce); seven grandsons, Jason L. Napier (Liana), Jonathan E. Napier, Justin E. Napier, Bradley A. Hobbs (Tessa), Benjamin R. Hobbs (Sarah), Brandon P. James (Roseann) and Blake M. James; four great-grandchildren, Mia K. Napier, Caroline G. Hobbs, Emily A. Hobbs and Colton B. James.
Pallbearers will be his seven grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will also serve.

Mr. Truman Aaron Reese, 65, of Warrenton on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010.
Funeral services were held at noon on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2010, at Fellowship Baptist Church, Mitchell.
Survivors include one son, Truman Eric Reese; three brothers, Alphonza of Sparta, Tracy (Charlene) of Stockbridge and Morris (Cynthia) of Macon; five sisters, Euthressa of Macon, Eudessa of Montgomery, Ala., Myra of Conyers, Delphine of Decatur, and Nora (Robert) of Warner Robins; three aunts, one uncle and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Ms. Pamela J. Delmoro Walden
Miss Pamela J. Delmoro Walden, 54, of Louisville entered into rest at her residence on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010.
Miss Walden was born to the late Rose Smith Delmoro Cloud and the late Frank Delmoro in Beckley, W.V. She lived in Fort Myers, Fla., before moving to Jefferson County in 1973.
Memorial services were held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ed Chance officiating
She was preceded in death by her daughter, April Walden.
Survivors include her fiancé, John W. Smith; daughter, Angel English (Brent) of Avera; two brothers, Charlie Delmoro and Buddy Cloud; four sisters, Rita Barr, Jennifer Bresina, Angela Lilly and Jamie Wills; and three grandchildren, Dylan English, Chesney English and Mason Padgett.

Mrs. Mildred Jernigan Burke
Mrs. Mildred Jernigan Burke, 89, of Greensboro entered into rest on Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at Boswell Parker Nursing Center in Greensboro.
She was a native of Rowland, N.C., but had lived in Greene County most of her life. Born on July 31, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Lyde Miller Jernigan and Lena Gainey Jernigan. She graduated from Vidette High School and in 1941 married
Roy Franklin Burke Sr. in Burke County. They moved to Due West, S.C., where Mr. Burke finished his education. His first principal and teaching job was in Siloam and later in Greensboro where she has lived ever since. Mrs. Burke worked with Hazel Turner at McDonald’s Dress Shop in Greensboro and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at 2 p.m. at McCommons Chapel, with Rev. Dr. James Choomack and Rev. Stephen Jackson officiating. Interment followed at Greensboro City Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Franklin Burke Sr.; a daughter, Sue Burke Rayburn; a son, Roy Franklin Burke Jr.; a great-grandson, Dustin Newsome; and siblings, Margaret Mabry, Alton Jernigan and Sonny Jernigan.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Burke Epps of Greensboro; a sister, Clara J. Jackson of Atlanta; two brothers, John Jernigan of Norfolk, Va., and Bill Jernigan of South Hill, Va.; nine grandchildren, Justin Epps (Rebecca), April Burke, Robbie Burke, Richie Burke, Benjamin Burke, James Burke, Ken Rayburn Jr. (Valerie), Jennie Rayburn and Laura Marht; 15 great-grandchildren, Lanie Epps Pentecost, Tristan Epps, Richard Burton, Ellisa Burke, Brittany Burke, Jo Burke, Samantha Burke, Christopher Burke, Javen Burke, Cloe Burke, MacKenzie Burke, Katie Burke, Jacob Burke, Donavon Burke and Kayla Rayburn; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Freeman was a native of Jefferson County, the daughter of the late Morris Mincey and Lillie Bell Whitehead, and the widow of the late Jordan Freeman. She was a member of the Blount Chapel AME Church.

Mrs. Mary Velma Odum Henderson, 90, of Louisville entered into rest on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, in the Jefferson Hospital.
Mrs. Henderson was born July 16, 1919, in Kite, a daughter of late Charlie and Clara Odum. She was a homemaker and a member of Louisville United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2009, in the Louisville United Methodist Church, with Rev. David Hibberts officiating. Burial followed in the family plot in the Louisville City Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert W. Henderson Sr.; brothers, Clyde and Wilber Odum; and sisters, Marion Reid and Ruth Davis.
Survivors include a son, Robert W. “Bob” (Carol) Henderson Jr. of Louisville; daughters, Marinell H. (Richard) Armstrong of Statesboro, and Gwen H. (William) Poppell of Evans; brother in-law, Clarence W. Mrs. Johnnie Mae Sinquefield Jones, 67, of Avera entered into rest on Friday, Dec. 25, 2009.
Mrs. Sinquefield was born on Oct. 31, 1942, to the late Clyde and Mytris Sinquefield Sr. She was born and raised in Avera, where she attended the public schools of Jefferson County. She joined Springfield AME Church at an early age. She was united with her husband, Fletcher Jones Sr., in 1958.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Springfield AME Church, Stapleton, with Rev. Michael Ephraim officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Brinson Jones; brother, Clyde Sinquefield Jr.; and sister, Genieve Sinquefield.

Mr. Sheely was a native of Burke County, a 1982 graduate of Louisville High School and a member of the Blount Chapel Baptist Church. He repaired small machines.

Mr. Sheppard was born in Avera, and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Avera, and Sweetwater Baptist Church in Thomson.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors, with Rev. Donald Lumpkin officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Rhodes Sheppard; son, Mervin Sheppard; and his daughter, Linda Wilson.

Miss Anita “Kwan” Taylor, 41, of Wrightsville entered into rest on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at the Medical College of Georgia.
Miss Taylor was born in Hillsboro County, Fla. She moved to Johnson County in 1972. She was a member of Tarver Grove Baptist Church and she attended the Johnson County Supports and Services Center until its closure.
