Mrs. Dorothy Hannah Wright
Mrs. Dorothy Hannah Wright of Augusta entered into rest on Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at Doctors Hospital.
Mrs. Wright was born on May 10, 1936, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Horace Hannah Sr. in Avera. She was educated in the Jefferson County Public School System and received certification as a nurse’s assistant from Talmadge Memorial Hospital in Augusta. She was employed as a nursing assistant at Talmadge Hospital (MCG) in 1956, and continued this career for many years. Mrs. Wright was a member of Bethel AME Church where she attended regularly and supported various programs and ministries.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Bethel AME Church, Augusta, with Rev. Mark S. Pierson officiating. Interment was in Mt. Olive Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include her son, James Barrington Wright, Augusta; sisters, Ida Ghee and Evon Hannah, both of Philadelphia, Pa., and Marie H. (Granvil) Lamkin, Augusta; brothers, John Hannah, Atlanta, Horace (Tinnie) Hannah Jr., Augusta, and Morris (Ceola) Hannah, Wrens; sister-in-law, Amy E. Hannah, Milledgeville; godsister, Sharon Merriweather, Augusta; godchild, Robbie Berrien, Augusta; friend, Mary Simpson, Augusta; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Johnnie Mae Coppett Bynes
Mrs. Johnnie Mae Coppett Bynes entered into rest on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at Floyd Specialty Hospital.
Mrs. Bynes was born Aug. 9, 1942, in Jefferson County to the parentage of the late Rev. Dave Coppett and Mamie Coleman. She was reared in Georgia, attending the public schools in Louisville. At an early age, she became a member of Walden Grove CME Church. She was united in marriage to the late Columbus Bynes Jr. on April 13, 1963. She and her husband moved to Miami-Dade during the summer of 1963. Mrs. Bynes was a resident of Miami-Dade, Fla., for 37 years.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Union Bethel Baptist Church, Louisville.
Survivors include three children Marvin and Kia of Acworth, and Darien of Kennesaw; two grandchildren, Porche and Darien Jr.; three brothers, John Coppett of Louisville, Dave Coppett Jr. and Tommie Coppett of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one sister, Juanita Ellis of Statesboro; one brother-in-law, Thomas Ellis; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Bynes of Augusta, Mary Bynes of Louisville, and Mae Bell Bynes of Burke County; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Hazel Green
Mrs. Hazel Green of Wadley entered into rest on Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, in Wadley.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at Mt. Pleasant CME Church, Bartow, at 11 a.m., with Rev. John Wilburn officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Jeanette (Roger) Strowbridge, Earnestine (Willie) Harrison and Betty (Jackie) Telfair, Wadley; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Gerry Strowbridge Sr., Mario Harrison, Charles Freeman, Jackie Telfair Jr., Gary Strowbridge Jr., Anthony Danford and Maurice Danford.

Mrs. Mildred McDonald Haymon
Mrs. Mildred McDonald Haymon, 91, of Wrens entered into rest on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at Silver Linings Personal Care Home.
Born to the late Nellie Maude Cox McDonald and the late Grover Thomas McDonald in McDuffie County, she moved to Wrens in 1956. Mrs. Haymon was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, but also attended Stapleton Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at the James Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ed Chance officiating. Interment followed in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens in Thomson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry William Haymon; and daughter, Helen G. Schraer.
Survivors include her children, John Gibson, Lincolnton, Nancy G. Usry, and Jane Chance (Ed); a sister, Rosa McCorkle, Dearing; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Pallbearers were Steve Anderson, Mike Chance, Timmy Chance, Lester Hadden, John Kitchens and Scott McGahee.

Mrs. Katherine L. Jones of Sandersville entered into rest on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at Washington County Regional Medical Center, Sandersville.
Mrs. Jones was the daughter of the late Rev. Lester Lee and the late Mrs. Camilla Rice Lee.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, Mitchell, with Rev. Dr. John Augustus Lockhart officiating. Interment was in church cemetery.

Mrs. Wally Neal Leimkuihler
Mrs. Wally Neal Leimkuehler, 73, of Slater, Mo., entered into rest on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at the Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Born Oct. 20, 1937, in Glascock County, she was the daughter of the late James Ralph Neal Sr. and Nancy Snider Neal. On April 4, 1959, in Sacramento, Calif., she married
Robert W. Leimkuehler. Mrs. Leimkuehler was a member of the Salem Evangelical Church near Saline City and the church’s Ladies Aid. She was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a longtime resident of rural Slater.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Salem Evangelcial Church, Saline City, with Tony Gallagher officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She was preceded in death by a son, Bruce D. Leimkuehler; and a brother, Dwight Neal.
Survivors include her husband, Robert, W. Leimkuehler; two sons, Jeff B. Leimkuehler and David N. Leimkuehler (Linda) of Slater; a daughter-in-law, Terri Leimkuehler of Gilliam; two grandchildren, Tiffany Mullins and Isaac Richards; two brothers, Billy Neal of Bartow, and James Ralph Neal Jr. of Mitchell; and two sisters, Hazel Beddingfield of Gibson, and Jennie Johnson of Augusta.

Mr. John A. Thigpen
Mr. John A. Thigpen, 85, of Thomson entered into rest on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010.
Mr. Thigpen was born in Glascock County, but lived in McDuffie County most of his life. He was the son of the late Will Thigpen and the late Lula Newsome Thigpen. Mr. Thigpen was retired from National Homes as a carpenter. He was a Methodist by faith.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at Westview Cemetery, with Rev. Mike Sutphin officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Mary “Dot” Thigpen, Thomson; stepson, Carl Dye, Thomson; stepdaughter, Faye D. Callaway, Tignall; grandchildren, Shelly C. Ferrell and Tom Callaway; nieces and nephew, Hazel Sheppard, Mary Ellen Cato, Evyon Cox and William Thigpen.

Mrs. Ann S. Thompson, 80, of Thomson entered into rest on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, in the University Hospital.
Mrs. Thompson was a native of Glascock County, but had lived in Thomson for many years. She was a homemaker and a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, in the Sweetwater Baptist Church, with Rev. Kenneth Garvin and Rev. Grant Cantrell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.D. Thompson Jr.; and a son, Lee Thompson.
Survivors include her three sons, Bruce (Gloria) Thompson, Thomson, Glynn (Sue) Thompson, Gibson, and Rodney (Andrea) Thompson, Thomson; two sisters, Gwen Hight, Winder, and Mary Joe Feagin, Palatka, Fla.; brother, William Swan, Thomson; grandchildren, Chris Thompson, Phillip Thompson, Jessica Thompson, B.J. Mrs. Joyce Jordan Allen, 67, of Stockbridge entered into rest on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Jonesboro First Baptist Church.? A graveside service followed at 3 p.m. at Stapleton City Cemetery, Stapleton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron D. Allen; father, William Thomas English; and brother, Tommy English.
Survivors include her son, Jason (Joanie) Allen of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Laney, Miller and Hadley; mother, Ivelyn English of Stapleton; sisters, Ellen (Vic) Vickers of Tifton, and Krystal (Ronald) Ponder of Metter; sister-in-law, Sandra English of Hartwell; nieces and nephews, Greg Ponder, Robin Brock, Ivey Vickers and Will English.

Mr. James “Jim” Hines Blackmon III
Mr. James “Jim” Hines Blackmon III, 56, of Thomson entered into rest on Dec. 20, 2010, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Blackmon was a native of Wilkes County, and was the son of the late James H. Blackmon Jr. and the late Virginia Miller Blackmon. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Washington, and attended First Baptist Church Thomson where he was a member of the Men’s Outreach Sunday School Class. Mr. Blackmon attended the Citadel in 1973 where he played football, and later graduated from the University of Georgia with a BS in agriculture. He was a lineman with Spirit Aviation in Thomson and Greensboro, and had worked with Terra International in Waynesboro, for 15 years.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, with Dr. James M. Ramsey officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Linda Hughes; son, James “Jimmy” H. Blackmon IV (Heather) of Brasselton; daughters, Sara Virginia Blackmon-Hughes and
Grace Elizabeth Blackmon-Hughes of Warrenton; sisters, Becky Stover (Jerry) of Washington, Linda King (Don Wendt) of Winston-Salem, N.C.; father-in-law, George Odis Hughes of Thomson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don Clauson and Sandi Hughes of Martinez; niece, Tamara Henderson; and nephews, Caleb Clauson-Hughes, Layne Paulk and Ian King.

Mr. Chalker was a native to Gibson. Mr. Chalker was a retired electrician.

Mrs. Mary Smith Mosier
Mrs. Mary Smith Mosier, 91, of Thomson entered into rest Dec. 20, 2010 at her residence.
Mrs. Mosier was born in Glascock County, but lived most of her life in Thomson. She was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Smith and the late Lucretia Wilcher Smith. She was retired from Thomson Company. Mrs. Mosier was a member of First Baptist Church, Thomson.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. James Ramsey officiating. Interment followed in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Mosier.
Survivors include her sister, Dorothy “Dot” Reynolds, Thomson; nephews, Creig Reynolds, Glen Reynolds; nieces, Priscilla Foster, Debbie Lokey, Barbara MacLennan and Joie Saravolatz .
