Mr. Carl Clayton Ervin, 79, of Marietta entered into rest on Monday, Sept. 28, 2009.
The funeral will be conducted by West Cobb Funeral Home in Marietta. Burial will be at Eleazar United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon, Tenn.
Mr. Ervin was born on Nov. 23, 1929, in Mount Vernon, Tenn., to John Lester Ervin Sr. and Carrie Lou Haun. He was a retired postal worker.
He was preceded in death by wives, Imogene Kirkland Ervin and Doris Jones Ervin; and a son, Jerry Ervin.
Survivors include six children, Teresa Ervin Foss of Louisville, Alan Ervin of Woodstock, Larry Ervin of Mableton, Barry Ervin of Powder Springs, Frieda Ervin Stafford of Robles Junction, Ariz., and Robert Ervin of Tucson, Ariz.; three siblings; and eight grandchildren.

Mr. Thomas Lee Gibbons
Mr. Thomas Lee Gibbons of Wadley entered into rest on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, in Louisville.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Hudson Mortuary Chapel in Wadley, with Rev. Walter Holmes officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his companion, Betty Jean Hodges of Wadley; eight daughters, Rosa Gibbons and Valerie Williams, both of Swainsboro, Malisa Holmes, Elaine Cooper and Francine Hill, all of Wadley, Michelle Richardson of Louisville, Peggy Gibbons of Sparta, and Viola Barnes of Lawton, Ohio; two sons, Tom Gibbons Jr., of Waynesboro, and Jimmy Lee Hodges of Bartow; sister, Carrie Gilmore of Hollywood, Fla.; brother, Robert Gibbons Jr. of Hollywood, Fla.; two sons-in-law, five sisters-in-law, one daughter-in-law, 36 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Inez Chalker Hadden
Mrs. Inez Chalker Hadden, 71, of Gibson entered into rest on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at Emory Hospital, Atlanta.
Mrs. Inez was a native of Glascock County and lived there all her life. She was retired from Forstman Textile Company and she attended the Mitchell United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at the Mitchell United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mary Griswell officiating. Interment was in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Gibson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Hadden; parents, Dillie Peebles and Aytch Chalker; two sisters, Bert Norris and Sallie Norris; and four brothers, Ray Chalker, John Chalker, Bobby Chalker and Harry Lee Chalker.
Survivors include her son, Troy (Cathrine) Hadden of Gibson; three brothers, Joe (Corene) Chalker of Gibson, Thomas Watson Chalker of Augusta, and Eugene Talmadge (Mary) Chalker of Gibson; three grandchildren, Katelyn Elizabeth Hadden, Emily Madison Hadden and Norris Hadden; and friend, Dr. Author Yarborough.
Pallbearers were Donald Kent, Clyde Wood, Stevie Wood, Terry Usry, Calvin McCoy and Scott Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Marilyn White Joiner, 66, of Florida, formerly of Wrens, entered into rest on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009.
She was the only child of Pat and Miriam White formerly of Wrens. She was born Feb. 1, 1943, in Atlanta. She was a 1950s graduate of Wrens High School.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at St. Pauls Presbyterian Church in Ocoee, Fla.
Survivors include her husband, sister, son, daughter and two grandchildren.

Mr. Eddie Murphy, 45, of Dearing entered into rest on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at his residence.
Mr. Murphy was a native of Richmond County, but had lived in Thomson for many years. He was a home remodeling contractor and a Baptist.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Quarterman was a native of Jefferson County. She attended Jefferson County School System and was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Mrs. Quarterman was a former employee of Cadet.

Mr. Charles Smith
Mr. Charles Smith, 49, of Avera entered into rest on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009.
Mr. Smith was born in Midville on Oct. 14, 1959, to the late Hayward and Annie Gilmore Smith. He served in the Army Reserve during the 1980s. He was employed by Glit Manufacturing in Wrens for numerous years and he owned a barber shop. Mr. Smith joined Spread Chapel AME Church at an early age. He served on the Matthews Circuit of the Sons of Allen Men’s Fellowship.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at 3 p.m. at Spread Chapel AME Church, Stapleton, with Pastor Rev. Timothy Lewis presiding and Brother Norman Roberts as eulogist. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Mr. David Roy Thompson Sr., 70, of Grovetown entered into rest at his residence on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009.
Mr. Thompson served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a Christian and a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. He coached sports for the Columbia County Recreation Department. He was a retired lead operator for Kimberly Clark.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, in the Belair Road Chapel of Platt’s Funeral Home at 2 p.m., with Pastor Brian Martin and Pastor Richard Boyd officiating. Interment followed in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Edward Thompson, William Thompson, Bennie Thompson and R.A. Thompson; and sisters, Jean Burton, Lucille Thompson and Bessie Mae Thompson.

Mr. Kilpatrick was the son of the late Eddie and Bernice Thomas Kilpatrick. Born in New York, he moved to Georgia where he lived most of his life. He joined Spring Bethel AME Church at an early age and was a 1976 graduate of Jefferson County High. At age 7 he was stricken with Muscular Dystrophy. He attended Adult Day Care in Louisville.
