Mrs. Cleo B. Gosnell
Mrs. Cleo B. Gosnell of Augusta entered into rest on Sunday, May 24, 2009, surrounded by her family at Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon.
Mrs. Gosnell, a daughter of the late Clifford Brooks and Rosa Lee Newsome, was a native of Avera, but had made Augusta her home for most of her adult life. She was a military wife who was a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the American Legion Post # 178, where she served as the Sergeant at Arms. She was a member of Waldens United Methodist Church in Avera.
Funeral services were held at the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at noon, with Rev. Joe Hester officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack D. Gosnell; siblings, Roy T. Brooks, Thelma Sheppard, Neelie Criswell, Junior Brooks, J.S. Brooks, Cleon Beasley and Jimmy Brooks.
Survivors include her children, Christine (Randy) Carter of Augusta, Mark D. Gosnell of Charleston, S.C., and Kathy G. (Gary) Duckworth of Appling; brothers, Ernest (Judy) Brooks of Hephzibah, Felton (Shirley) Beasley of Stapleton, and Elton Beasley of Augusta; grandchildren, Stacey (Dustin) Woods, Stephanie J. Moxley, Jackson Gosnell, Justin Welcher, Lauren Camille Duckworth and Elaine Michelle Duckworth; great-grandchildren, Ashlynn T. Miles, Jackson R. Wallace and Brylin C. Woods; and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jackson Cody Gosnell, Justin D. Welcher, Keith Criswell, Charles Sheppard, Gilbert Sheppard, Richard Sheppard and Danny Beasley.

Mrs. Marion Brown Range
Mrs. Marion Brown Range entered into rest on Monday, May 18, 2009, at an Atlanta, Hospital.
Mrs. Range was born in Jefferson County to the parentage of the late Robert Thomas Brown Sr. and Margaree Robinson Brown. At an early age she joined the Sandvalley AME Church. She graduated from Jefferson County High School. She relocated to East Point, where she joined the Christian Family at Riverdale Church of Christ under the leadership of Pastor Laslie Binion. She was employed with the Fulton County Schools for nine years and Decatur Hospital for five years.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the Alfonzo Dawson Mortuary Chapel, Atlanta.
Survivors include her husband, Rafael Range of Atlanta; children, Nickki (Jamar) Stewart and Regina Allen; grandchildren, Jamar Stewart Jr., Savion Stewart, Janen Allen and Fredrick Gilbert; siblings, Sarah (Willie) Johnson of Louisville; Thomas Brown Jr. and Freeman Brown, both of Louisville; in-laws, Martha Brown, Carolyn Brown, Elma Range, Jeraldine (Ruben) Prather, Marion Kelly, Lorenzo Range, Jarvis (Lorie) Range, Panselle (Jennifer) Range and James (Deborah) Range; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Katie L. Newsome Young, 43, of Thomson entered into rest at her residence on Friday, May 22, 2009.
She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Frances Connell, 81, of Wrens entered into rest on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at University Hospital.
Mrs. Connell was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Gibson. She was retired from Maxwell Department store.
Funeral services were held at James Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, May 31, 2009, at 3 p.m., with Rev. Sam Collins officiating. Burial followed at Wrens Memorial Cemetery.
She is preceded in death by her husband, W.J. “Dub” Connell; parents, Thomas Sutton and Irene Hardin Sutton; two brothers, T.J. Sutton and Jerry Sutton; and a sister, Opal Sutton.
Survivors include her son, Randy Connell; sister, Peggy Hadden; and grandchildren, Theresa Chavous, Latrilla Connell, Amy Connell, Josh Connell and Ben DeWitt.

Mr. Bernard Reid Davis Sr., 76, of Evans entered into rest at his residence on Thursday, May 28, 2009.
Mr. Davis was retired from the Plumbers and Steam Fitters Local Union #150. He attended the Apostolic Cathedral of Praise.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 1, 2009, in the Belair Road Chapel of Platt’s Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Marcus Holt and Rev. Dewain French officiating. Interment followed in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Lou Lawton and Kate Lovelace; and two brothers, Lonnie Davis and Tommy Davis.

Mr. Arthur Lee “Billy” Flonnory
Mr. Arthur Lee “Billy” Flonnory, 60, of Wrightsville entered into rest on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at his residence.
He joined the Ebenezer Christian Episcopal Church at an early age, and was a 1968 graduate of Jefferson County High School. He later attended Augusta Tech receiving his certification in welding. He worked as a farmer most of his life and later as a logging truck driver.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at the Faith Memorial CME Church and Ebenezer CME Church Cemetery, Bartow.

A native of Glascock County, he was retired as a supervisor at the Augusta-Richmond County Water Department.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Jarrod Adkins officiating.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Linda Glover; brother, Clarence Wilson Glover Jr.; and parents, Gracie Mathis and Clarence Wilson Glover Sr.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Virginia Glover; and one sister, Ellen “Dollye” (Allen) Borum of Wrens.

Mr. James L. “J.L.” Perdue, 86, of Wrens entered into rest on Monday, June 1, 2009.
Funeral services were held at James Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at 4 p.m. Burial followed at Ways Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Janette Hobbs Perdue.

Mrs. Margaret Louise Kirby Sheehan
Mrs. Margaret Louise Kirby Sheehan, 90, of Macon entered into rest on Sunday, May 24, 2009, at her residence at Carlyle Place.
Mrs. Sheehan, the only child of the late Henry and Adele Norrell Kirby, was born in Greenville, S.C. She met and married
Pastor E.C. Sheehan when she was 17-years-old and they were married
for more than 73 years. She attended Mercer University and was a graduate of New Orleans Baptist Seminary. Mrs. Sheehan often served as pianist and Sunday school teacher in the church her husband lead. Her husband served twice as interim pastor at Wrens Baptist Church. From 1947 to 1964, Mrs. Sheehan served as youth director at Mikado Baptist Church where her husband served as pastor. Mrs. Sheehan was a homemaker, a Christian and a member of Ingleside Baptist Church for 23 years, where she was in the choir and a member of the Hal Gaymon-Mike Ross Sunday School Class.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Ingleside Baptist Church, with Dr. Timothy McCoy and Dr. E. C. Sheehan officiating. Burial was private for the family at 11:15 a.m. in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. E.C. Sheehan of Macon; daughter, Jackie S. (Ron) Gaynor of Tucker; son, Kirby Sheehan of Macon; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. James L. “J.L.” Perdue, 86, of Wrens entered into rest on Monday, June 1, 2009, at his residence.
Mr. Perdue was a native of Jefferson County, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a Mason, a Shriner and a retired civil servant at Fort Gordon.
Funeral services were held at James Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at 4 p.m., with Dr. James M. Ford officiating.
Mr. Perdue was preceded in death by his son, Wayne Perdue; and his parents, Luther and Theresa Russell Perdue.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Janette Hobbs Perdue; son, James Wright (Sharon) Perdue; daughter-in-law, Laurie Ford Perdue, Sandersville; two grandsons, Benjamin Perdue and Logan Perdue; three granddaughters, Rachel Perdue (Brint) Jones, Jaclyn Perdue and Bonnie Perdue; and a great-grandson, Eli Jones.
