Mr. David L. Brown of Wrens entered into rest on Tuesday, May 5, 2009.

Mr. Brown was a former employee of Wrens Fire House and Heath Wilson Farm.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Sandvalley AME Church, Louisville, with Rev. C.W. Stone officiating and Rev. Michael Ephraim, pastor. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his father, Robert H. Brown of Stapleton; son, Skylar Brown of Matthews; three sisters, Patricia Brown of Wrens, Lasonya (Jessie) Brown of Wadley, and Sherry Brown of Louisville; three brothers, Gregory Brown, Robert (Vickie) Lane of Stapleton, and Harold (Juna) McCall of Atlanta; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Burnett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Robert “Bob” “Fifty” “Shorty” Lee Brown
Mr. Robert “Bob” “Fifty” “Shorty” Lee Brown, 63, of Atlanta entered into rest on Sunday, May 3, 2009.

Mr. Brown was born on March 15, 1946 in Louisville to Greer Pressley Brown and Ida Mae Brown. He was a self-employed car detailer.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at 1 p.m. at East Point Church of Nazarene, East Point, with Dr. Edward Husband Sr. officiating.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Lee Brown Jr. of Atlanta; two brothers, Johnnie Lee Brown and Greer Pressley Brown Jr.; and one grandchild, Yahshika.

Survivors include four daughters, Cynthia Olutosin of Atlanta, Valerie Arnold of Atlanta, Kimberly Graves (Felix) of Ellenwood, and Clara Brown of Atlanta; six sisters, Recie Brown (Edward), Betty Brigham (Ulysees), Ann Green and Jeanett Shield, all of Augusta, Dorothy Hill (Johnny) of Louisville, and Christine Whatley (William) of East Point; two aunts, Carrie Atkins of Louisville, and Sarah Ferguson of Augusta; nine grandchildren, Julius, Yahkecia, Khalil, Shanieca, Taylor, Chaka, Xavier, Princess and Geovana; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mrs. Margaret “Lil Bettie” Palmer Bynes
Mrs. Margaret ‘Lil Bettie’ Palmer Bynes of Louisville entered into rest on May 1, 2009.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 9, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Canaan Galilee Baptist Church and Lone Star Cemetery.

Mr. William L. Cox Sr.
Mr. William L. Cox Sr., 87, of Thomson entered into rest on Monday, May 4, 2009, in the Eisenhower Medical Center in Augusta.

Mr. Cox was born on July 29, 1921, to the late Russell and Dora Cox. He retired as SMSGT/E8 from the US Air Force in 1968. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tom Cox; and a son, Gary M. Cox.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Taylor Funeral Home, with Rev. Bobby Rollins officiating. Burial followed in the Louisville City Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Thelma R. Cox of Thomson; three sons, William L. (Betty) Cox Jr. of Martinez, John M. (Mot) Cox of Louisville, and Larry R. (Onnie) Cox of Waynesboro; two sisters, Mary Dillon of Jacksonville, and Louise (Walter) Kitchens of Moxley; his grandchildren, Mary (Taylor) Blalock, Anna (Randy) Baggs, Elizabeth Cox, Lawton Hickman, Rodney McGraw and Dawn Price; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Danny Taylor, Gary Ware Jr., Gary Rabun, Lester Smith, Rodney McGraw and Mark Clay.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Shepards Church, 6544 Cobbham Rd. (Hwy 150), Appling, GA 30802.

Mrs. Doris Jones Daughtry
Mrs. Doris Jones Daughtry, 88, of Louisville entered into rest on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Heritage of Old Capital Nursing Home.

A native of Metter, Mrs. Daughtry was a daughter of the late Henry and Bonnie Lee Jones. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, the Louisville Garden Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Pink Ladies’ Auxiliary at Jefferson Hospital.

Funeral services were at held 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Louisville, with the Rev. Doug White officiating. Burial followed in the Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Oscar Fay “O.F.” Daughtry.

Survivors include a son Ronald Fay Daughtry of Madison; three daughters, Edna D. (Tommy) Purvis of Swainsboro, Ann D. (Jerry) Cobb of Louisville, and Kathy D. (Pat) Mahan of Huntsville, Ala.; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Tom Purvis Jr., Lee Rowell, Brandon Barrow, Andy Cobb, Michael Cobb, Jim Harrison and Matt Smith.

Mrs. Mary Morgan Johnson
Mrs. Mary Morgan Johnson, 78, of Eatonton entered into rest Friday, May 8, 2009, at her residence.

She was a homemaker.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2009, at the Jordan Chapel Church of God, Edgehill, with Rev. James K. Brown officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Johnson; parents, Charlie and Mattie Black; two brothers, John Morgan and J.P. Morgan; and one sister, Boots Spear.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Kunz of McDonough; four sons, Don Johnson of Social Circle, David Johnson of Monticello, Ken Johnson of Eatonton, and Vernon Johnson of Ellenwood; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Maudie Arrington of Thomson, Bobbie Radford of Thomson, Dahlia McCoy of Augusta, and Jean Reese of Hephzibah; two brothers, Ray Morgan and Charlie Morgan both of Bedford, Texas.

Pallbearers were Donnie Johnson, Davy Johnson, Eric Johnson, Brandon Kunz, Vince Lentini and Morgan Williams.

Sheppard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Myrtle L. Larimer
Mrs. Myrtle L. Larimer, 83, of Dearing entered into rest on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at her residence.

Mrs. Larimer was a native of McDuffie County. She was a homemaker and a member of Fort Creek Baptist Church.

Funeral services were at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jim Martin officiating. Burial was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Larimer; parents, Willie and Lucile Radford; son, Dr. David F. Larimer Sr.; daughter, Virginia Lucile Larimer; and a sister, Shirley R. Bailey.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane (Paul T.) Watson, Thomson; a granddaughter, Sara (Joe) DeWitt, Dearing; two grandsons, David F. (Amy) Larimer Jr., Covington, and Earl R. (Amy) Larimer, Athens; a daughter-in-law, Mary Larimer, Covington; a sister, Clyde (W.C.) Holley, Wrens; a brother, Ray (Mary) Radford, Dearing; two great-grandchildren, David F. “Trace” Larimer III, and Georgia Marie Larimer.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James Norman Polan
Mr. James Norman Polan, 59, of Bartow entered into rest on Monday, May 4, 2009, at University Hospital in Augusta.

Mr. Polan was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and was in the maintenance department of Thermo-King. He was a member of Blundale Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Blundale Baptist Church, with Rev. Lamar Little and Rev. Jamie Archer officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Iris Polan of Bartow; two sons, Jimmy Polan of Louisville and Brandon Polan of Bartow; one grandchild; mother, Lois Polan of Wadley; two brothers, Ronnie Polan of Wadley and Johnny Polan of Statesboro; two sisters, Helen Stavely of Wrens and Ann Shumaker of Wadley; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Deacons of Blundale Baptist Church.

Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Barbara Lou Price
Mrs. Barbara Lou Price, 71, of Snover, Mich., entered into rest on Sunday, April 26, 2009, at her home.

She was born on May 12, 1937, in Reese, Mich., to the late George and Berle (Harrison) Vincent. On May 10, 1974 she was united in marriage with Gainer Price, who preceded her in death in 2002. She was a Cass City High School graduate and a homemaker. She was a member of Deckerville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Collon Funeral Home in Caro, Mich., with Brother Kevin Patten officiating. Burial was in the Moore Township Cemetery, Sanilac County, Mich.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Price was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Trayler; two brothers, Eugene and Donald Vincent; and one sister, Genevieve Walker.

Survivors include her children, Edward (April) Newsome Jr. of Vassar, Mich., Randy (Bobbie Jean) Newsome of Bartow, Vicky (Tom) Taylor of Flint, Mich., Angela Graham of Bad Axe, Mich., Rose (Jerry) Taylor of Caro, Mich., Sharon (Larry) Smith of Bad Axe, Mich., Angel Romain of Snover, Mich., and Matt (Lori) Price of Caro, Mich.; extended family, Dave (Sue) Price of Wilmot, Mich., Diane Price of Bad Axe, Mich., Mark (Carolyn) Price of Canton, Mich., Darlene (Brad) Dorsch of Bad Axe, Mich., and Lori Ahearn of Bad Axe, Mich.; son-in-law, Larrry Trayler of Sandusky, Mich.; 32 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; siblings, Donna (Allen) Spencer of Deford, Mich., and Ron (Clara) Vincent of Marlette, Mich.; sister-in-law, Betty Vincent of Grand Rapids, Mich.; aunt, Fanny Stockard of Lutz, Fla.; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. Dorothy McLain Taylor Cobb
Mrs. Dorothy McLain Taylor Cobb, 72, of Vidalia entered into rest on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at University Hospital in Augusta after a brief illness.

Mrs. Cobb was a native of Toombs County, living there most of her life and in Jefferson County for 10 years. She was a member of the Marietta Freewill Baptist Church, and was previously employed with Brantley Furniture of Vidalia, Palmer Tire Company of Vidalia and with Cobb Equipment in Louisville.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 15, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Marietta Freewill Baptist Church, Lyons, with Rev. Irvin Murphy and Rev. Don Moye officiating. Interment followed in the Lyons City Cemetery.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lester A. Cobb of Louisville; her parents, Cannie and Florene Kitchens McLain; and a brother, Everett McLain.

Survivors include one son, Charles (Nan) Taylor of North Augusta, S.C.; one daughter, Sharon T. (Gary) Tapley of Vidalia; four grandchildren, Brad Tapley of Vidalia, and Clayton, Cameron and Sara Taylor, all of North Augusta; one sister, Lois Jean (Shannon) Phillips of Soperton; three stepchildren, Leslie (Ernie) Newton and Angie (Barry) Wren, all of Louisville, and Panda (James) Arrington of Bartow; four step-grandchildren, four nephews and four pets.

Mrs. Betty Ree Ellis
Mrs. Betty Ree Ellis of Warrenton entered into rest on Friday, May 15, 2009, at the Medical College of Georgia Medical Center.

Mrs. Ellis was a native of Louisville, but had lived in Warrenton for many years. She was a member of the Louisville Baptist Church and was a retired store clerk.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2009, in the Louisville City Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, William Ellis, Warrenton; her two sons, John Ellis, Clarksville, Tenn., and William David Ellis, Warrenton; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Carolyn Price Fendley
Mrs. Carolyn Price Fendley, 66, formerly of the Beulah Community, entered into rest on Friday, May 15, 2009, in Louisville.

Mrs. Fendley, a native of Norfolk, Va., had lived in Forest Park for many years before moving to Washington in 1988. She was a homemaker and member of Beulah Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 18, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church, with Rev. Rick Markham and Rev. Jamie Callaway officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Lee Fendley.

Survivors include brothers, James A Price of Gibson, Bill Price of Gibson, and Buddy Price, Dan Price, Vince Price and Alec Price, all of Washington; sisters, Virginia P. Hunter, Loganville, and Marie Reeves, Dearing.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mamie Lou “T-Ninechi” Hunter
Mrs. Mamie Lou “‘T-Ninechi” Hunter of Wadley entered into rest on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, in Wadley.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, May 17, 2009, at 3 p.m. at Hudson Mortuary Chapel, Wadley, with Rev. Dr. David Kemp officiating. Burial was in Live Oak cemetery in Wadley.

Survivors include seven daughters, Mae Lois Hunter, Pearline H. (Albert) Lewis, Inell Hunter, Pressie Mae (Leroy) Green and Gracie Mae Hunter, all of Wadley, Susan Lewis, Swainsboro, and Terrie (Maurice) Lawrence, Aiken, S.C.; four sons, Robert (Karen) Hunter and Wallace Hunter, all St. Petersburg, Fla. and ReLester Hunter and Charles Hunter, both of Wadley; a sister-in-law, Willie Mae Lamb of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 28 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Charles Knight, Glenn Wilcher, Kenneth Heath, Ronald Bell, Rykell Howard, Ricky Palmer, Nicholas Brown and David Johnson.

Hudson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
