Mr. Louis C. Lockhart
Mr. Louis C. Lockhart, 61, of Valley, Ala., formerly of Tennille entered into rest on Thursday, April 9, 2009, after a brief illness.

Mr. Lockhart was born November 16, 1947, in Tennille, son of the late Louis and Kathleen English Lockhart (Fulghum). He had a career in economic development, working in the states of Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. He was a graduate of Emory University and a brother in the Kappa Alpha Order.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at 3 p.m. at Zeta cemetery in Tennille, with Rev. Peter Barlow of the Tennille Methodist Church officiating. A memorial service was held Monday, April 13, 2009, at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Opelika, Ala., with Rev. Tim Thompson officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda Collins Lockhart, of Valley, Ala.; one daughter, Amy Lockhart of Franklin, Tenn.; one sister, Kay Cogburn; two nephews Thomas (Lesley) Cogburn and Charles (Meg) Cogburn, all of Atlanta, GA; and three great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the First United Methodist Church of Opelika.

Taylor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wade Lowery
Mr. Wade Lowery of Sylvania recently entered into rest

Mr. Lowery was born on Oct. 28, 1947, in Screven County to the late George Wesley Lowery Sr. and Isabell Brack Lowery. At an early age, he became a member of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where he sang in the church choir.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Sylvania, with Elder Bruce Taylor officiating, and Rev. Thomas Norman III presiding. Interment was in Friendship Memorial Cemetery, Sylvania.

He was preceded in death by a sibling Dea. Zella B. Taylor and a beloved brother-in-law, Dea. Charlie E. Evans.

Surivors include four brothers, Deacon George W. Lowery Jr., Robert (Viola) Lowery, all of Savannah, Thomas Lowery and Rev. Jerald (Minnie) Burgess, all of Hinesville; four sisters, Evangelist Gloria (Bishop David) Arnett, Isabell (Robert) Martin-Williams, Deacon Robbin B. Frazier and Rev. Dr. Diane B. Evans, Avera; one aunt, Grace Brack, Savannah; one uncle, Joseph (Willie Bell) Brack Sr.; one adopted brother, Paul (Teresa) Brack; half-brother, Al White; half-sisters, Mattie Reed, Shirley Free and Necole Lowery; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Sylvania Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Barbara Jean Prickett
Mrs. Barbara Jean Prickett, 49, of Louisville entered into rest on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Jefferson Hospital.

Mrs. Prickett was a member of Wrens Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was the daughter of the late Melvin Wells and Lucy Reese Parker.

Funeral services were held at James Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, April 17, 2009, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Chris Henry officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her son, Tony Prickett.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Rufus Prickett; children, Kellie (Lewis) Braswell, Stapleton, Sara (Clarence) Birt, Matthews, Amanda Prickett, Louisville, Jennifer Prickett, Stellaville, and Daniel Prickett, Louisville; grandson, Carlos Cruz; granddaughters, Jasmine Birt and Kali Martinez; sisters, Brenda (James) Munro, Hephzibah, Judy (Michael) Carter, Zebina, Mae (Gary) Darnell, Blythe, and Marie (David) Hardin, Wrens; brothers, Lamar (Trish) Wells, Hephzibah, and Poochie Wells, Zebina.

Pallbearers were Corp. Daniel Amerson, Donnie Prickett, Allen Prickett, Eddie Welch, Barrow Walden, Clyde Welch, Jerry Massie and Ira Reeves.

James Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Voncile Campbell Siggers
Mrs. Voncile Campbell Siggers, 78, of Sardis entered into rest on Monday, April 13, 2009, at her grandson’s home in Bartow after an extended illness.

Mrs. Siggers was born Feb. 12, 1931, to the late Steven Benjamin Campbell and Myrtle Kimbell Campbell. She was a lifelong homemaker.

Memorial Services will be private.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Everett Thomas Siggers; son, Dale Robinson; infant son, Robbie Robinson Jr.; brother, Ray Campbell; and sister, Faye Campbell Agerton.

Survivors include her daughter, Patsy Robinson Parham (David) of Evans; brother, Kay Campbell of Sardis, and Otis Campbell of Lakeland, Fla.; four grandchildren, Chris Robinson (Monica) of Bartow, Eric Brown of Augusta, Ginger Parham Pounds (Cliff) of Lincolnton, and Allen Parham of Augusta; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

DeLoach Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Contessa “Tess” Lynette Carr-Smith
Mrs. Contessa “Tess” Lynette Carr-Smith of Louisville entered into rest on Thursday, April 2, 2009.

Mrs. Carr-Smith was born in Louisville on Aug. 8, 1967, to Willie James “Buddy” Carr and the late Anna Jane Steward Carr. She was a member of Cannan Galilee Baptist Church and Spring Bethel Benevolent Society. She attended school in Jefferson County School System. She was a 2001 graduate of Augusta Technical College, receiving a diploma in welding.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Cannan Galilee Baptist Church, Louisville, with Rev. Robert Stokes officiating.

Survivors include her husband, Theodore Smith of Hephzibah; father and stepmother, Willie James “Buddy” Carr and Essie Mae Kelly Carr of Louisville; siblings, Eddie McBride Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Pamela Stringer (Douglas) of Hephzibah, Wanda Flournoy of Atlanta, Krystal Washington, Katina Burden and Tonya Burden, all of Sandersville, Sonya Burden (Wayne) of Louisville, and Tavonda Carr of Augusta; father and mother-in-law, Theodore and Gladys Smith Sr. of Augsuta; uncle, John Bennett of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers were Bobby Lewis, Donald Brown, Chris Brown, Jeffery Whitfield, Anthony Smith, Kelvin Hickson, Willie Albert Hall and Wayne Gilmore.

Honorary pallbearers were Deacons and Trustees of Cannan Galilee Baptist Church.

Mrs. Nellie Frances Hatcher Sullivan
Mrs. Nellie Frances Hatcher Sullivan entered into rest on Monday, March 30, 2009, in New York.

Mrs. Sullivan was born on July 13, 1920 in Louisville to the late Robert Hatcher and Della Walker Hatcher. She attended school and worked on the family farm until she married Henry Sullivan in 1935. She worked at Booth Memorial Hospital in New York until she retired in 1985.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Spring Bethel AME Church, Louisville, with Rev. James Jenkins officiating.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Laura Broadus, Annie Mae Mack and Viola Fleming; brothers, Richard Hatcher, Joseph Hatcher, Robert Hatcher, Charlie Hatcher and John Henry Hatcher; and son, Joseph Sullivan.

Survivors include her children, Viola (Edgar) Lockhart, Mary (Otis) Gardner, Marva Strayhorn and Richard (Ginger) Sullivan; grandchildren, Larry Derrick Lockhart, Shaeman Price, Richard (Yvonne) Sullivan Jr., Felicia (Warren) Corbin, Camille Strayhorn, Kristen Strayhorn and Sheila Sullivan Stafford; great-grandchildren, Jade Corbin, Warren Kyjon Corbin, Kjiar Prather, Tajh Wedlow and Kayla Gray; sister-in-law, Mary Sullivan; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

Pallbearers were John Hatcher, Larry Lockhat, Kjiar Prather, Richard Sullivan Jr. and Phillip Strayhorn.

Honorary pallbearers were Otis Gardner and Edgar Lockhart.

Mr. Ronny Rudolph “Ronny” Toulson
Mr. Ronny Rudolph “Ronny” Toulson, 50, of Creedmoor, N.C. entered into rest on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at his residence.

He was a native of Warren County, a member of Long Creek Baptist Church, and a 1976 graduate of Glascock County Consolidated School. He was a heavy equipment operator.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor, N.C., and interment followed at Oak Grove Memorial Park, Durham, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Toulson; his father, William M. Toulson; and a brother, Johnny Toulson.

Survivors include his wife, Leigh Ann Hutchins Toulson; daughter, Shannon (Sean) Conley; grandsons, Patrick and Aaron Conley, all of Creedmoor, N.C.; mother, Betty (Steve) Hartwell, Casa Grande, Ariz.; brothers, Jeff (Susan) Toulson, Chandler, Ariz., and William (Deloria) Toulson, Warrenton; sister, Vicky (Craig) Usry, Gibson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Jeff Toulson, William Toulson, Craig Usry, William Hutchins, William Mossette Hutchins, Larry Ricks, Brad Coley and Bobby Jackson.

Mrs. Margaret Caroline Pritchard Black
Mrs. Margaret Caroline Pritchard Black, 87, of Augusta entered into rest on Monday, April 20, 2009, at her residence.

She was the wife of James M. Black and the daughter of the late Jacob and Bessie Richardson Pritchard. She was born in Trenton, S.C., was a graduate of Leavelle McCampbell High School, Graniteville, S.C. and was a member of Graniteville First Baptist Church. She was a charter member of Brigadier General E. Porter Alexander Chapter 2671 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at 4 p.m. at the graveside in Westover Memorial Park, Augusta.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Willie T., Arthur, E.J., Roy, Laurie and Carroll Pritchard.

Survivors include her children, Don L. Black, Cheyenne, Wyo., Margaret Elaine Gatliff, Edgehill, Marcia Gray, Augusta, Lora Moore, Anderson, S.C., and John Black, Appling; nephews, Charles Pritchard, Charleston, S.C. and Butch Pritchard, North Augusta, S.C.; niece, Betty Vickers Price, Aiken, S.C.; 21 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were her grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Brigadier General E. Porter Alexander Chapter 2671 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Mrs. Neelie M. Criswell
Mrs. Neelie M. Criswell, 76, of Augusta entered into rest on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at Select Specialty Hospital.

Mrs. Criswell, a native of Avera, was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Homer A. Criswell; father, Clifford Brooks; mother, Rosa McTier Newsome; son, Rex Criswell; and siblings, Roy Brooks, Thelma Sheppard, J.S. Brooks, Jimmy Brooks, Junior Brooks and Cleon Beasley.

Survivors include her son, Keith Allen Criswell (Lynn Reid); sister, Cleo Gosnell; brother, Ernest Brooks (Judy), Felton and Elton Beasley; granddaughter, Crystal Hunter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Elizabeth (Cawley) Wood Faust
Mrs. Elizabeth (Cawley) Wood Faust of Warrenton entered into rest in Kingwood, Texas on April 20, 2009.

Mrs. Faust was born on July 21, 1920, in Shultz Hill, S.C. She was the daughter of Mark Luke and Anna Inglett Reed Cawley. She lived the majority of her life in Augusta, but after retiring from Lily Tulip Company she moved to Warrenton.

Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, with the Rev. Marion Jay officiating.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Quincy Wilson “Jack” Wood and Howard Edward Faust; brothers, James and William Cawley; sister, Daisy Wheatly; and daughter, Dora Anne Youngblood.

Survivors include her sister, Juanita Thaxton of Perkins; daughters, Jo Anne (Lou) Bouffler of Decatur, Tenn., and Raye Wood Causey of Kingwood, Texas; grandchildren, Pat Martin, Elizabeth Dawson, Jackie Warner, all of Augusta, Frank Youngblood Jr. of Gibson, Richard Youngblood of Hephzibah, Philip and Michael Thompson of Lakeland, Fla. and Christie Viands, Marie Price and James Williamson of Kingwood, Texas; many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Angie Norris Hauser
Mrs. Angie Norris Hauser of Thomson entered into rest on Friday, April 24, 2009, at her residence.

Mrs. Hauser was born Nov. 16, 1910, in Wadley, the daughter of James Pilcher Norris of Warren County and Norine Egbert Shipley of Atlanta. She and her husband came to Thomson with the Georgia Power Company in 1940. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Thomson and was one of the founding members of the Raysville Baptist Church. She competed in national bridge tournaments at Sea Island for 20 years and was a member of the Georgia Power Company’s Ambassadors Club.

Private graveside services were held Monday, April 27, 2009.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clark “Muggy” Hauser; and sister, Louise Norris Strauss.

Survivors include her sons, James Norris Hauser (Laura) of Hitchcock, Texas, and William C. “Bill” Hauser (Wallie) of Comstock, Texas; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Paul “PoPo” Marsh
Mr. Paul “PoPo” Marsh, 83, of Warrenton entered into rest on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the V.A. Hospital, Augusta.

Mr. Marsh was a native of Jefferson County and was the son of the late Mr. Willie Paul and Myrtle Clark Marsh. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and received the American Theater Ribbon and WW II Victory Medal. Mr. Marsh had retired as owner of Warrenton T.V. Company and was a Baptist.

Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2009, at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Curtis Thigpen officiating.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James Marsh.

Survivors include four sons, Eddy (Barbara) Marsh, Martinez, Randy (Pat) Marsh, Warner Robins, Tommy (Anita) Marsh, Murrieta, Calif., and Joey (Rebecca) Marsh, Dallas; two sisters, Elizabeth (Bill) Doggett, Augusta, and Joyce Tomlinson, Flint, Mich.; one brother, Billy Marsh, Warrenton; seven grandchildren, Paul E. Marsh Jr., Rachael M. Marsh, Jennifer (Nathaniel) Noler, Jeromy (Heather) Marsh, Jason Aradanas, Kyle Marsh and Maegan Marsh.

Pallbearers were John Bales, Eddy Marsh, Tommy Marsh, Randy Marsh, Joey Marsh, Jason Aradanas and Paul E. Marsh Jr.
