Survivors include his daughter, Collen Swinney of Antioch, Tenn.; siblings, Johnny Swinney of Wadley, and Annie Mae Amerson of High Point, N.C.; one aunt, Essie Mae Jordan of Ocala, Fla.

Mrs. Doshia Morgan Upkins
Mrs. Doshia Morgan Upkins, 87, of Decatur entered into rest on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at DeKalb Medical Center, Decatur.
Mrs. Upkins was a native of Jefferson County, the daughter of the late Lewis Morgan and Lillie Bell Brantley Morgan. She was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home Chapel, Louisville. Burial was held in the Ebenezer CME Church Cemetery.
Survivors include her eight children, Mary Upkins of Louisville, Jimmy (Fannie) Upkins, Jessie Wells, Lillie Mae Upkins, Martha Cantrell, Doshia Upkins and Wynell Burton, all of Decatur, and Vonda Gross of Charleston, S.C.; siblings, Elizabeth Davis and Jessie Bell Williams, both of Sandersville, and Lillie Mae (Ruben) Lafavor of Buffalo, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Wyman Winfrey Jr., 67, of Thomson were held on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at 1 p.m. at White Oak Grove Baptist Church, Thomson, with Pastor Rev. Johnny Few and Prophetess Katie Cummings as eulogist. Interment was in Westview Cemetery, Thomson.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Ross Winfrey, Thomson; daughter, Lisa R. Winfrey, Thomson; three sons, Bryain B. “Brad” Winfrey, Kennesaw, Willie Joe Taylor, Matthews, and Michael Dawson, Columbus; seven sisters, Lula M. Dunn and Helen Bailey, both of Atlanta, Nellie P. Moss, Toccoa, Regina Thomas, Bernice W. Demons and Alberta Finch, all of Thomson, and Gertrude W. Gilpin, College Park; two brothers, Bennie Winfrey, Miami, Fla., and Jabus Winfrey, Thomson; two aunts, Mattie Bell Winfrey, Atlanta, and Nellie P. Kendrick, Columbus, Ohio; 10 sisters-in-law; 11 brothers-in-law; two grandchildren, Shan’Qualecia (Nae) Williams and Jordan (PeWee) Williams, both of Thomson; 11 additional grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mr. William Broadus Wren Jr.
Mr. William Broadus Wren Jr., 83, of Louisville entered into rest on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, in Jefferson Hospital.
Mr. Wren was a native of Jefferson County. He was the son of the late William Broadus and Annie Davis Wren Sr. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Louisville United Methodist Church for more than 63 years. Mr. Wren owned and operated Wrens Hardware Store in Louisville for 65 years and was a member of Stonewall Masonic Lodge # 98 F&AM.;
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, in the Louisville City Cemetery, with Rev. David Hibberts officiating.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Peggy Wren Linnenkohl.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Smith Wren of Louisville; son, William Byron “Barry” Wren (Angie); daughters, Patricia Wren Goodwin (Jimmy) of Louisville, and Dianne Wren Hadden (Ralph) of Gibson; sister, Frances Wren Prescott of Louisville; six grandchildren, Jimmy Wesley Goodwin Jr., Jennifer Dianne Roberts, Christopher Wren Goodwin, Charles Michael “Chip” Clark, Ashley Marie Wren and Wilson Bailey Wren; seven great-grandchildren, David Jackson, Victoria Jackson, Kaitlyn Goodwin, Taiyler Goodwin, Bryson Goodwin, Blake Clark and Cameron Clark; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Larry Clifton, Mitchell McGraw, Lee Griffin, John Murphy, Joe Cox and Frank Williford.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Barwick Sunday School Class of Louisville United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Harriett S. Bobbitt of Augusta entered into rest on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at Jefferson Hospital, Louisville.
She was a native of Burke County, a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, and was employed as a telephone operator with AT&T.;
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, with Pastor Charles Goodman officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, with Pastors Tommy Roundtree and Scott McKinney officiating. Interment was private.
Survivors include her two daughters, Jarenda (Steve) Durham and Tangella (John) Gay; four grandchildren, Teelisha and Mark Jones, and Craig and Chris Gay; one great-grandson, Brysen Jones; one sister, Sara G. Richardson; and friend, Christine Durham.

Mrs. Alice W. Cox
Mrs. Alice W. Cox, 92, of Louisville entered into rest on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at Heritage Healthcare of Old Capitol in Louisville.
Mrs. Cox was born in Statesville, N.C., but had lived here for the past 34 years. She was the wife of the late Michael Atkins Cox Jr. and was retired as an insurance secretary and was a part of the Pink Ladies at Jefferson Hospital. Mrs. Cox was a member of the Louisville United Methodist. She also belonged to several animal societies.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Louisville City Cemetery, with Rev. David Hibberts officiating.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Clyde and Julia Wren Walker; and brothers, J.C. Walker and William Walker.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Deacon Lawrence Dixon
Deacon Lawrence Dixon, 93, of Matthews entered into rest on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009.
Mr. Dixon was born in Jefferson County on April 12, 1916, to the late Mat (Annie) Dixon. He was a retired farmer. At an early age, he joined Ways Grove Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at 3 p.m. at Ways Grove Baptist Church, Wrens, with Rev. Jimmy McCullough III officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Dixon; son, Lawrence Dixon Jr.; and daughter, Bettye Walker.
Survivors include his sister, Inez Patterson of Augusta; grandchildren, Larry Walker, Brenda Walker and Janice Walker, all of Wrens, Lonzay Morgan, Toney Morgan Sr. and Michael Morgan, all of Augusta, and Marilyn Anderson of Florida; three sisters-in-law, Jessie-bell Flowers of Waynesboro, Annie D. Mrs. Ruby Faircloth of Bartow entered into rest on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at her residence.
Mrs. Faircloth, born in Jefferson County, had lived here most of her life. She was retired from Thermo King and a member of Nails Creek Baptist Church, Bartow.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Wadley City Cemetery, with Rev. Randy Walden officiating.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Faircloth; and a son, James Faircloth.
Survivors include her children Henry Brown of Evans, Ann Mong of Augusta, W.P. Brown of Bartow, Ronnie Faircloth of Canada, Jerry Faircloth of Augusta, and Ruby Harris of Statesboro.

Mrs. Green was a native of Essex County, N.J., but spent most of her time in Jefferson County since 1969. She was the daughter of Rosie Mae Swint and the late Rufus Washington, the widow of the late Edward Lee Green and a homemaker.

Mr. Joseph E. McDaniel Jr., 62, of Louisville entered into rest on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009.
Mr. McDaniel was a native of Louisville and a former resident of Reidsville. He was a member of Lousiville First Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam and a retired correctional officer with the Georgia State Prison at Reidsville with 34 years of service.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, at 3 p.m. at Louisville First Baptist Church, with Rev. Hardy G. Owens and Rev. Andy Carter officiating. Veteran’s honors will be accorded. Private interment was in the Louisville City Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Darlene McDaniel; a son, Joey (Angela) Curl, Collins; a daughter, Tisha (Bob) Holland, Collins; two sisters, Flora Parker, Niceville, Fla., and Florence Lord, Davisboro; seven grandchildren; and stepchildren, Garrett Clavier, Dalton Clavier and Samantha Clavier.
