Mr. Ralph E. Lewis
Ralph E. Lewis, 63, died Tuesday April 15, 2008 at his son’s home in Rome, after an extended illness.
The Wayne County native was a member, Deacon and Sunday school teacher with the First Baptist Church in Clinton, S.C. He was former vice president and manager of the Clinton Combined Utilities System and was a 1962 Graduate of Wayne County High School.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Jesup, with Dr. Blake Harwell officiating. Interment was in Bethesda Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter “Dub” Lewis; and a sister, Faye Lewis Ring.
Survivors are two sons, Jeffery (Kristen) Lewis of Waxhaw, N.C., Jason (Stephanie) Lewis of Rome; his mother, Macy Wiggins Lewis of Jesup; a sister, Barbara (Wayne) Tingen of Oxford, N.C.; brothers, Larry (Gale) Lewis of Screven, Gerald (Kyong) Lewis of Melbourne, Fla., Roger (Paula) Lewis of Jesup; four grandchildren, Tyler and Jordan Lewis, and Carter and Aaron Lewis; and several nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers were Bo Lewis, Ron Lewis, Fred Goff, Bobby Brock, Bill Cooper and John Martin.
Honorary pallbearers were Donzell Lewis, Sam Bennett, Bobby Brett and Sam Weeks.

Mr. Ronnie Darrell Love
Mr. Ronnie Darrell Love, 56, of Harlem entered into rest Sunday, April 13, 2008, at the Downtown V.A. Hospital.
Mr. Love, a native of Thomasville, was the son of the late Charles J. and Idether Vickery Love and had lived in the Harlem area most of his life. He was of the Baptist faith.
Memorial services were held at the Chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors today, Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at 6 p.m. with the Reverend George A. Holcombe Jr. officiating.
Mr. Love was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Faye Love.
Survivors include his children, Rebecca York and Melissa Price both of Thomson, Jerry Taylor and Joseph Peebles both of Waynesboro; brothers, John Love of Augusta, Eugene Love of Harlem, Terry Love of Augusta, Gary Love of Grovetown, James Love of Dearing, George Cooper of Gibson, and Josh Love of Harlem; sisters, Patricia Malpass of Thomson, Darlene Watts of Blythe, and Ann Webber of Dearing; grandchildren, Steven Alleva, Christopher Alleva, Cody Alleva and Joseph York.

Mr. Keith Lionel Stewart
Mr. Keith Lionel Stewart, 82, of Bartow entered into rest on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at the Medical College of Georgia after a brief illness.
Mr. Stewart, a son of the late Clyde and Golda Stewart, was a native of Silina, Kan., where he finished high school and played the trumpet in the band. He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He received his bachelor of science in business administration at Kansas State University, where he was a member of Beta Kappa, and received his masters in business administration at Denver University in Denver, Colo. He went to work for Continental Can Group, Inc., as the Southeastern Regional Auditor in 1948 and retired in 1982 after 34 years. He was a member of the Institute Auditors, Inc., Continental Can Veteran’s Club, Pioneer CCC Club and the Lions Club where he served as president and as secretary and was chosen as Lion of the Year in 1989-1990. He was a member and of Louisville First Baptist Church and the Ingles Coffee Table Club.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Louisville First Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Montgomery officiating. Burial followed in the Davisboro City Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Paulene S. Stewart of Bartow; daughters, Joyce Poole Joyner (Mays) of Fayetteville, and Linda Poole Bledsoe (Horace) of Aiken; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were nephews, Bill Black, Riley Stavely, Sonny Stavely, Robert Stavely, Tony Stavely, Terry Garrett, Mark Gilvin and David Gilvin.
Honorary Pallbearers were the Deacons of Louisville First Baptist Church and members of the Louisville Lions Club.

Mrs. Alma Williams
Mrs. Alma Williams, 87, of Louisville entered into rest Monday, April 14, 2008, at her residence.
Mrs. Williams was an accountant in Jefferson County at The News and Farmer, also was a president of the Jefferson County Chapter AARP and she was a member of Waldens United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of late Alvin and Annie Lou Williams.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Waldens United Methodist Church, with Rev. Tom Edwards officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her sister, Bessie Mae Amerson.
Survivors include her son, John Judson (Ann) Williams, Lilburn; niece, Jan (Jerry) Grice, Hephzibah, and Tammy Ryan, Wrens; nephew, Andrew Ryan, Wrens; her beloved grandchildren, Ben (Jennifer) Williams, Springfield, and Wendy (Justin) Breda, Lilburn; and her four great-grandchildren, Madison Breda, Braxton Breda, Megan Williams and Braden Williams.
Pallbearers were Jack Clark, Fay McGahee, Howard McGahee, Bennett Howard, Marion Milburn and Boyd Williams.

Mrs. Ethel Bales Wood
Mrs. Ethel Bales Wood, 98, Thomson entered into rest Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Doctors Hospital, Augusta.
Mrs. Wood was a native of Washington County, a member of Dearing Full Gospel Church, and a seamstress. She also worked in the garden and her flowers.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Dearing Full Gospel Church with Rev. Jerry Rockefeller and Rev. Eddie Renew officiating. Interment was in Mt. Zion Church cemetery, Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Sara Usry Cook and Mary Usry Perryman; one son, Leroy Usry; and her parents, Eli and Judie Bales.
Survivors include two daughters, Gladys Usry Happ of Graniteville, and Frances Mae Usry Williams of Thomson; one son, William Junior Usry of Thomson; one sister, Louise Bales McNeal of Gibson; and one brother, Bill Bales of Thomson; 13 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; and a host of great-great- grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Wesley Usry, Rick Warren, Wayne Warren, Ronnie Brooks, George Perryman and Robert Kitchens.

Mrs. Dianne “DiDi” S. Brown of Avera entered into rest Saturday, April 26, 2008. Mrs. Brown passed away at her home surrounded by her husband, her children, her sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Brown was a member of Waldens United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late F.O. and Dorothy Holton Saunders.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 28, 2008, at 4 p.m. at Waldens United Methodist Church with Reverends Tom Edwards, Dewey Henderson and Marvin Goodman officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Brown; her children, Mark Patrick (Nicole) Brown and Michael Paul (Ashley) Brown; brother, F.O. “Sonny” (Marty) Saunders and Wayne (Maxine) Saunders; sisters, Brenda (Jerry) Josey, Nancy (Tom) Austin, Kathy (Wayne) Josey and Gwenn (Roy) Pope; grandchildren, Ashleigh Brown, Autumn Brown, Beau Brown, Sophie Brown, Ella Brown and Baby Girl Brown.

Mrs. Sarah Rogers Clements
Mrs. Sarah Rogers Clements, 89, of Wrens entered into rest Thursday, April 24, 2008, at the Gibson Health and Rehab Center.
Mrs. Clements was a member of Wrens Baptist Church where she was member of Agnes Martin Sunday School class and also was a member of Wrens Keenagers. She was the wife of the late Phillip Clements, and the daughter of the late Earl and Julia Weeks Rogers.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Wrens Baptist Church, with Rev. Julian West and Rev. Stan Littleton officiating. Burial followed at Wrens City Cemetery.
Mrs. Clements was preceded in death by her son, John Gregory Clements; brothers, Earl Rogers and John Leslie Rogers; a sister, Minnie Newsome; and a grandson, Tony Kitchens.
Survivors include her children, Raley (Mary Ann) Clements, Wrens, Emory (Dale) Clements, Wrens, Jeanette (Charles) McCorkle, Dearing, Gene (Katie) Clements, Thomson, Vera (Edward) Kennedy, Warthen, Harold (Janice) Clements, Matthews; 11 grandchildren, Vic Clements, Vance Clements, Greg Clements, Lisa McDonald, Michael McGahee, Kevin McGahee, Nancy Morgan, Becky Olomon, Cathy Key Woods, Hal Clements and Chris Clements; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Davis, Wrens; and a brother, James Rogers, Augusta.

Mr. Adam Gibbons
Mr. Adam Gibbons departed this life Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at his residence.
Mr. Gibbons was a native of Jefferson County, the husband of the late Lenora Heggs Gibbons, son of the late Robert and Annie Mae Gibbons, a member of the Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church and a retired lumber processor.
Graveside services were held Thursday, April 24, 2008, at 4 p.m. at the Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include his sister, Lizzie Gibbons Seafus of Louisville; his aunt, Mila “Candy” Roberson of Louisville; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Robert) Dixon, Eunice (Dale) Devero, John (Gloria) Flournoy of Mt. Vernon; a host of loving and devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Active Pallbearers were Jack Gibbons, Earl Roberts, Dale Devero, Jeffery Whitfield, John Davis and Tommie Fleming.

Ms. Shelby Jean Harden
Ms. Shelby Jean Harden, 72, of Keysville entered into rest Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Keysville Nursing Home and Rehab Center.
Ms. Harden was a member of Waldens United Methodist Church and was retired from Stapleton Garment Company. She had been crowned Ms. Keysville Nursing Home and Rehab Center Queen for 2007.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., on Monday, April 28, 2008, at James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Timothy Pendrey officiating. Burial followed at Waldens United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Ms. Harden was preceded in death by her parents, James L. and Pauline F. Rooks; siblings, Jimmie Chalker, John Rooks, James Rooks and Joyce Dixon.
Survivors include a brother, Etheridge L. Rooks; three sisters, Willadean Kuykendall, Virginia Stanfield, and Sonya Usry; and a special cousin, Margaret Rooks.

Mr. Denny Prickett, 46, of Keysville entered into rest Sunday, April 20, 2008.
Mr. Prickett was a truck driver for Knight’s Butchering and Processing Company. He is the son of Maggie Ruth Prickett and the late George Franklin Prickett.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at 3 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Revs. Wayne Lanier and Baxter Stanley officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

Mrs. Ruby Raley, 79, of Mitchell entered into rest Thursday, April 24, 2008, at University Hospital, Augusta.
Mrs. Raley was the owner and manager of Raley’s Restaurant for 24 years. She was the wife of the late Thurman Lamar Raley.
Funeral Services were held at 3p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church, with Rev. Al Kurtz and Rev. Wendell Thomas officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Jane Raley Smith; a sister, Bessie Thigpen; two brothers, George Rabun and Carl B. Rabun; and her parents, Lillian Landrum and Homer Raley.
Survivors include two sons, Phil (Sandra) Raley and Bill (Dorothy) Raley both of Mitchell; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Clements of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Mandy Todd, Mitch Raley, Phillip Raley and Lindsey Coleman; great-grandchildren, Nathan Todd, Jaycee Todd, Blake Raley, Andie Raley and Gavin Coleman.
