Retired SSG Timothy E. Standridge
Retired SSG Timothy E. Standridge, 67, of Dearing entered into rest on Friday, March 7, 2008, at the VA Medical Center, Augusta.

Mr. Standridge was born in Augusta and was retired from the US Army having served in Korea and Vietnam. He was the recipient of numerous awards including the Purple Heart. Mr. Standridge was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Dearing Full Gospel Church with the Reverend Eddie Renew and the Reverend Jerry Rockefeller officiating with full Military Honors. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include wife, Anna E. Standridge; one son, Robert Standridge, Dearing; five daughters, Michaela Poster, Germany, Ingrid Dennis, Manning, S.C., Yutta Martin, Augusta, Sylvia Evans, Dearing, and Cynthia Lee, Louisville; and 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were members of the military.

Starling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Nathaniel "Nath" Tucker
Funeral services for Mr. Nathaniel “Nath” Tucker, 79, of Mitchell were held on Sunday, March 9, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. Augustus Lockhart officiating. Interment, was in the churchyard cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Agnes Cheeley Tucker, Mitchell; three sons, Willie Tucker, Atlanta, James (Nancy) Tucker, Sparta, and Larry (Alice) Tucker, Mitchell; three daughters, Mary Lois Kitchens and Lenora Tucker, both of Mitchell, and Cindy Tucker, Sparta; one sister, Lois Tucker, Mitchell; one brother, Willie G. Tucker, Augusta; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Haynes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Deacon Roy C. Wilcher
Deacon Roy C. Wilcher, 49, of Wrens died Thursday, March 6, 2008.

Mr. Wilcher was born Feb. 4, 1959, to Mattie Mitts and the late Henry Mitts. He joined Canaan Galilee Baptist Church where he served faithfully until last year when he joined Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Wilcher was a musician for 31 years.

Funeral services for were held on Sunday, March 9, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Canaan of Galilee Baptist Church, Louisville, with Pastor Robert Stokes, officiating. Interment was in Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church cemetery, Matthews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Mitts; a brother, Kenny Mitts; and a sister, Mattie Will Mitts.

Survivors include his wife, Levonne A. Wilcher, Wrens; two daughters, Rosalyn Houston, West Palm Beach, Fla., and Queira “Kacey” Walden, Wrens; one son, Brandon Wilcher, Wrens; one granddaughter, Charisma Moss, Florida; mother Mattie Mitts, Wrens; six sisters, Bessie (David) Wins, Lenola (Willie) Wicker, Louisville, Carolyn (Hoyt) Hollins Jr., Wrens, Henrietta (Lenton) Warren, Milledgeville, Addie (Eric) Wallace, Atlanta, and Elaine (Willie) Neal, Sparta; four brothers, Lawrence (Juanita) Mitts, Larry Mitts, both of Wrens, Linton Mitts, Hephzibah, and Robert (Alberta) Wilcher, Atlanta; one aunt, Eva Mae Smith, Warthen; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Freeman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Roger E. Bennett
Mr. Roger E. Bennett of Hephzibah entered into rest on Sunday, March 9, 2008, at the V.A. Medical Center.

Mr. Bennett was a native of Louisville. After 22 years in the U.S. Army, he retired as Staff Sergeant having served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a member of Belle Terrace Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 13, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Belle Terrace Presbyterian Church with Rev. Melvin Lowry officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olive Memorial Garden with full military honors.

Survivors include his wife, Eloise Bennett; two daughters, Vickie L. Bennett, Atlanta, Alena J. Bennett, Macon; one son, Joseph Bennett, Atlanta; one sister, Rosa Simmons, Atlanta; goddaughter, Tonya Tabb, Augusta; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Belle Terrace Presbyterian Church Capital Improvement Fund, 2484 Golden Camp Rd., Augusta, GA 30906.

Mrs. Jimmie Ethel R. Clark Chalker
Mrs. Jimmie Ethel R. Clark Chalker, 74, of Gibson entered into rest Thursday, March 13, 2008, at University Hospital.

Mrs. Chalker loved the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs her favorites. Mrs. Chalker was a retired caregiver for the elderly, and she was a member of Walden United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2008 at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Richard Kitchens officiating. Burial followed at the Walden United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Chalker was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and everyone she knew. She loved gardening and sports.

Mrs. Chalker was preceded in death by her father, James L. Rooks; her mother, Pauline O. Faglier Rooks; her brothers, John O. Rooks, James M. Rooks; her sister, Joyce Dixon; grandchildren, Michael Clark and Ashley Usry.

Survivors include her children, Janet (Joe) Hall, Wrens, Julie Clark, Hephzibah, Ray (Tracy) Clark Jr., Mitchell, Sheree (Charlie) Wylds, Martinez, her brother, Etheridge L. Rooks; sisters, Willadean Kuykendall, Virginia Stanfield, Sonya (Algernon) Usry, and Shelby Harden; grandchildren, Eric (Rebecca) Clark, Chris (April) Clark, Holley Sparbel, Lee Hall, Timmy Silas Jr., Amanda (Michael) Clark, Cristal Clark, Lauren Wylds, Danny Wylds; five great-grandchildren, Mikayla Clark, Shaun Clark, Allyanna Clark, Mackenzie Sparbell, and Tristan Clark.

Pallbearers were Eric Clark, Chris Clark, Timmy Silas, Danny Wylds, Keith Usry and Bobby Smith.

Mrs. Dorothy Jean "Dot" Loudermilk Crunkleton
Mrs. Dorothy Jean “Dot” Loudermilk Crunkleton, 68, of Toccoa died Sunday, March 9, 2008, at the Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

The daughter of Evelyn Scott Loudermilk and the late Robert Loudermilk, she was born in Stephens County, but lived in Wadley for a number of years. She was employed with the Louisville Hospital for a number of years and later retired from Toccoa Nursing Center.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Toccoa Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Larry Wilbanks and Rev. Donald Lumpkin officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include mother, Evelyn Loudermilk; children, Debbie Arnold, Randy and Tony Crunkleton; ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a brother, Gary Loudermilk; two sisters, Linda Lanier and Sue McLeod of Toccoa.

Funeral services for Mrs. Deloris Davis, 44, of Matthews was held Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Thompson Springhill A.M.E. Church, Matthews, with the Rev. C. Myrick presiding and Rev. R. Edwards, Pastor, eulogist. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Ms. Julia Ann Farmer, 41, of Wrens entered into rest Sunday, March 9, 2008.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Stapleton, with Rev. Dr. Frank Seabrook officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Moses M. Farmer and Richardo Farmer; a daughter, Keshara Evans; five brothers, Leotis (Jackie) Farmer, Nick Charles (Vickie) Farmer, Clifford Farmer, Robert (Sharon) Farmer, and Walter Farmer; five sisters, Lillie Mae Farmer, Mary Neely, Sandra J. (Mack) McKenzie, JoAnn Burton, and Charlene Farmer; a special friend, Karme “Jamar” Watson.

Funeral services for Mr. Jerry L. Kemp of Augusta, who entered into rest on March 10, 2008, were conducted on Monday, March 17, 2008, at 4:30 p.m. at Spread Chapel A.M.E. Church in Stapleton, with Reverend C.W. Stone officiating. Interment was in Walker Memorial Park.

Mr. William "Bill" Kemp Jr.
Mr. William “Bill” Kemp Jr., 48, of Gibson entered into rest March 14, 2008.

Mr. Kemp was born in Kingsville, Texas, but lived in Glascock County, for the past 25 years. He was a 1977 graduate of Southeast Bullock High School, former Glascock County Recreation Department Coach and was a Glascock County High School assistant football coach. Mr. Kemp was a former Cub Scout Leader and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Madison.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Thomas Ghann and Wayne Ghann officiating. Interment followed in Faith Memorial Gardens, Madison.

Survivors include his wife, Angie Sturdivant Kemp, Gibson; sons, William F. Kemp III, Lakewood, N.J., and Andrew Chandler Kemp, Gibson; father, William F. Kemp Sr., Portal; mother, Anne H. Kemp, Portal; brothers, Bob Kemp (Sheila), SSGT Jeffrey T. Kemp ( Tammy), Ft. Riley, Kan.; sister, Ginny Kemp, Beaufort, S.C.; paternal grandmother, Anne Lee Kemp, Jacksonville, Fla.; sister-in-law, Gail Norris ( Eugene), Warrenton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were the Glascock County High School coaches.

Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Glascock County High School football team.

Mr. Christopher Charles Kitchens, 45, of Gibson entered into rest Friday, March 14, 2008, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center, Thomson.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 16, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Sheppard Funeral Home Chapel with Don Black officiating. Interment was in the Gibson First Baptist Church Cemetery.

A native of Richmond County, while living in Jefferson and Glascock counties all of his life, a sportsman, he loved hunting, fishing and riding his four wheeler. He was a truck driver

He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. S.M. Kitchens.

Survivors include his wife, Shelli Pittman Kitchens; his son, Christopher Kevin Kitchens of Stapleton; two daughters, Kristian Marie Kitchens and Destiny Eve Kitchens, both of Gibson; his mother, Mrs. Audrey Sheppard Kitchens of Stapleton; one brother, Larry (Joann) Kitchens of Gibson; one sister, Linda (Don) Black of Avera; one niece and nine nephews, three great-nieces and six great-nephews.

Pallbearers were Brian Davis, Greg Walden, Randy Black, Buddy Foskey, Dean Kitchens and Charles Reese.

Mrs. Vearan Knight
Mrs. Vearan Knight of Brooklyn, N.Y. entered into rest on Sunday, March 2, 2008, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Her funeral was held on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Tarvers Grove Baptist Church in Bartow, with Rev. Herman Baker officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her two sons, Kenneth (Stephanie) Knight and Tommy (Janice) Knight of Brooklyn, N.Y.; other children, Mary Knight, Brooklyn, N.Y. and John Knight, Bartow, reared as her own; four sisters, Lucille Hudson, Miami, Fla., Ethel Knight and Annie Joseph, Brooklyn, N.Y. and Celia Passmore, Teaneck, N.J.; three brothers, Yomma Knight Jr., Brooklyn, N.Y., and Earl Knight and Freddie Knight, Bartow; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Calvin Brinson, Otis Brinson Jr., Willie Lee Stevens, John Knight and Freddie Knight.

Mr. George William Walden
The funeral services for Mr. George William Walden of Louisville were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville. Interment was in the Sugar Hill cemetery in Wrens.

Mr. Walden was a native of Jefferson County, a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and served in the United States Army for 20 years. He received his education in the Jefferson County school system.

Survivors include his daughter, Wanda Walden Coleman of Williston, S.C.; son, Major Charles (Laura) Gibbons of Louisville; sister, Elsie Walden of Louisville; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Garrer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lucile Pate Williams
Mrs. Lucile Pate Williams, 89, of East Point passed away on March 3, 2008.

She was a 1937 graduate of Russell High School in East Point and a life long member of Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Lonnie W. Williams. Her husband was a native of Glascock County. He was a 1941 graduate of Glascock County High School.

A graveside funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2008, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Darwin Caldwell officiated.

Survivors include one son, Mark A. Williams; sister, Frances Pate Dye of Union City; two sisters-in-law, Louise Pate of Mabelton, and Laura Williams-Smith of Louisville; one brother-in-law, Lewis Williams of Louisville; caregiver, Eugene Mitchell of East Point and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of the donor’s choice.
