Retired SSG Timothy E. Standridge
Retired SSG Timothy E. Standridge, 67, of Dearing entered into rest on Friday, March 7, 2008, at the VA Medical Center, Augusta.
Mr. Standridge was born in Augusta and was retired from the US Army having served in Korea and Vietnam. He was the recipient of numerous awards including the Purple Heart. Mr. Standridge was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Dearing Full Gospel Church with the Reverend Eddie Renew and the Reverend Jerry Rockefeller officiating with full Military Honors. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include wife, Anna E. Standridge; one son, Robert Standridge, Dearing; five daughters, Michaela Poster, Germany, Ingrid Dennis, Manning, S.C., Yutta Martin, Augusta, Sylvia Evans, Dearing, and Cynthia Lee, Louisville; and 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were members of the military.

Funeral services for Mr. Nathaniel “Nath” Tucker, 79, of Mitchell were held on Sunday, March 9, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. Augustus Lockhart officiating. Interment, was in the churchyard cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Agnes Cheeley Tucker, Mitchell; three sons, Willie Tucker, Atlanta, James (Nancy) Tucker, Sparta, and Larry (Alice) Tucker, Mitchell; three daughters, Mary Lois Kitchens and Lenora Tucker, both of Mitchell, and Cindy Tucker, Sparta; one sister, Lois Tucker, Mitchell; one brother, Willie G. Deacon Roy C. Wilcher
Deacon Roy C. Wilcher, 49, of Wrens died Thursday, March 6, 2008.
Mr. Wilcher was born Feb. 4, 1959, to Mattie Mitts and the late Henry Mitts. He joined Canaan Galilee Baptist Church where he served faithfully until last year when he joined Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Wilcher was a musician for 31 years.
Funeral services for were held on Sunday, March 9, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Canaan of Galilee Baptist Church, Louisville, with Pastor Robert Stokes, officiating. Interment was in Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church cemetery, Matthews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Mitts; a brother, Kenny Mitts; and a sister, Mattie Will Mitts.

Mr. Roger E. Bennett
Mr. Roger E. Bennett of Hephzibah entered into rest on Sunday, March 9, 2008, at the V.A. Medical Center.
Mr. Bennett was a native of Louisville. After 22 years in the U.S. Army, he retired as Staff Sergeant having served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a member of Belle Terrace Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 13, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Belle Terrace Presbyterian Church with Rev. Melvin Lowry officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olive Memorial Garden with full military honors.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise Bennett; two daughters, Vickie L. Bennett, Atlanta, Alena J. Bennett, Macon; one son, Joseph Bennett, Atlanta; one sister, Rosa Simmons, Atlanta; goddaughter, Tonya Tabb, Augusta; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mrs. Jimmie Ethel R. Clark Chalker, 74, of Gibson entered into rest Thursday, March 13, 2008, at University Hospital.
Mrs. Chalker loved the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs her favorites. Mrs. Chalker was a retired caregiver for the elderly, and she was a member of Walden United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2008 at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Richard Kitchens officiating. Burial followed at the Walden United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Chalker was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and everyone she knew. She loved gardening and sports.
Mrs. Chalker was preceded in death by her father, James L. Rooks; her mother, Pauline O. Faglier Rooks; her brothers, John O. Rooks, James M. Rooks; her sister, Joyce Dixon; grandchildren, Michael Clark and Ashley Usry.

Mrs. Dorothy Jean “Dot” Loudermilk Crunkleton, 68, of Toccoa died Sunday, March 9, 2008, at the Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
The daughter of Evelyn Scott Loudermilk and the late Robert Loudermilk, she was born in Stephens County, but lived in Wadley for a number of years. She was employed with the Louisville Hospital for a number of years and later retired from Toccoa Nursing Center.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Toccoa Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Larry Wilbanks and Rev. Donald Lumpkin officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include mother, Evelyn Loudermilk; children, Debbie Arnold, Randy and Tony Crunkleton; ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a brother, Gary Loudermilk; two sisters, Linda Lanier and Sue McLeod of Toccoa.

Mr. William “Bill” Kemp Jr., 48, of Gibson entered into rest March 14, 2008.
Mr. Kemp was born in Kingsville, Texas, but lived in Glascock County, for the past 25 years. He was a 1977 graduate of Southeast Bullock High School, former Glascock County Recreation Department Coach and was a Glascock County High School assistant football coach. Mr. Kemp was a former Cub Scout Leader and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Madison.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Thomas Ghann and Wayne Ghann officiating. Interment followed in Faith Memorial Gardens, Madison.

The funeral services for Mr. George William Walden of Louisville were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville. Interment was in the Sugar Hill cemetery in Wrens.
Mr. Walden was a native of Jefferson County, a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and served in the United States Army for 20 years. He received his education in the Jefferson County school system.

Mrs. Lucile Pate Williams
Mrs. Lucile Pate Williams, 89, of East Point passed away on March 3, 2008.
She was a 1937 graduate of Russell High School in East Point and a life long member of Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Lonnie W. Williams. Her husband was a native of Glascock County. He was a 1941 graduate of Glascock County High School.
A graveside funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2008, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Darwin Caldwell officiated.
Survivors include one son, Mark A. Williams; sister, Frances Pate Dye of Union City; two sisters-in-law, Louise Pate of Mabelton, and Laura Williams-Smith of Louisville; one brother-in-law, Lewis Williams of Louisville; caregiver, Eugene Mitchell of East Point and a host of nieces and nephews.
