Mrs. Margaret Bargeron Courson
Margaret Bargeron Courson, 81, of Waynesboro entered into rest Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at Brentwood Terrace Health Center.
A native of Burke County, she was born April 14, 1926, to the late Henry Grady and Pearl Heath Odom Bargeron. She retired after 20 years of service from the Coca-Cola Company in Waynesboro. After retirement, she served as a bailiff for the Burke County Courthouse. Mrs. Courson was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesboro.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with Dr. G. Al Wright Jr. officiating. Interment followed at Magnolia Cemetery, Waynesboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter B. Courson, and her brother, Emory E. Bargeron.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Bargeron Rucker, of Cumming; sister-in-law, Ruth Brannen Bargeron, of Louisville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Willie Mae Hannah
Mrs. Willie Mae Hannah, 81, of Louisville died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008.
She was born March 27, 1926, to the parentage of the late Plea Flournoy Sr. and Bessie Houston Flournoy in Jefferson County. She joined Pine Hill Baptist Church where she served as chief of the Usher Board for 30 years and president for 10 years. She was also a member of the missionary ministry, involved with the Walker Baptist Association and active with the Willing Workers Club. She was a member of the NAACP and a retired school bus driver for the Jefferson County School System. In 1944, she was married
to the late Lamar Stone Sr. and in 1976 she was married
to the late Cyrus Hannah Sr.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at Pine Hill Baptist Church in Louisville.
Preceding her in death were a son, Edward Flournoy, and her siblings, Ed Willie Flournoy, Plea Flournoy Jr., John Henry Flournoy, Ida Bell Davis, Mamie Wells and Daisy Belle Hickey.
Survivors include a son, Lamar Stone Jr. of Louisville; stepchildren, Cyrus (Katrina) Hannah Jr. of Warrenville, S.C., Louise Hannah, Virginia (Collans) Evans, Carolyn Hannah, Doris Hosbon, and Charles Hannah, all of Boston, Mass.; daughter-in-law, Amy Flournoy of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Mattie Flournoy, and Mary Lizzie Brown, both of Louisville, and Inez Brown of Augusta; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mrs. Nancy Weathers Harris
Nancy Weathers Harris, 66, of Augusta entered into rest at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center on Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, after an extended illness.
Born Nancy Belle Reese on Feb. 26, 1941 in Wrens, she was the daughter of the late Jerome and Emma Reese. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 32 years, the late Vernon C. Weathers Sr.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Lumpkin Road with Reverend Frank Barker officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Lowell Thomas “Tommy” Harris; four brothers, Marvin Reese and David Reese, both of Wrens, James Reese of Augusta and Artemus Reese of Greer, S.C.; one sister, Elizabeth Windham of Waynesboro; four children, Vonda Weathers Richards (Gene) of Cleveland, Vernon Carl Weathers (Martie) of North Augusta, S.C., Martha Renee Shuler (Bubba) of Augusta, and David Alton Weathers (Heather) of Augusta; ten grandchildren, Donna Lynn, Michaela Rossi, Nicole Rossi, Evan Richards, Philip Weathers, Christopher Weathers, Joseph Weathers, Ashley Weathers, and Vernon Weathers; five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and family.

Mr. Rochelle Heggs, 47, of Louisville departed this life on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008.
Mr. Heggs was born on Nov. 25, 1969, to James Willie and Cora Thompson Heggs. At an early age he became a member of Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church. He was a 1978 graduate of Louisville High School.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Sand Valley A.M.E. Church in Louisville, with Rev. Michael Ephraim Sr. officiating.

Mrs. Euvonia Gay Jackson, 65, of Brooklyn, N.Y. entered into rest on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Mich.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Gilbert Lambuth Chapel, Paine College, with Elder Darrell Butler officiating. Burial was at Walker Memorial Park.
Mrs. Jackson, a longtime resident of Augusta and Brooklyn, N.Y., was employed 19 years with the Richmond County Board of Education and 20 years with the City of New York Department of Social Services.
Survivors include two daughters, Dierdra (Gregory) Autry, White Lake, Mich., and Sonja (Ricky) Russ, Douglasville; one son, Darrell (Saberina) Butler, Hephzibah; five brothers, Morris Gay, Edward (Geneva) Gay, Charles Gay, Walter Gay, George (Earline) Gay; two sisters, Ora Lee (Roscoe) Robinson, and Annie Thelma Gay; two aunts, Annie L. Freeman, and Mattie Mincey; eight grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mr. Herman Lawson Sr. of Sandersville died on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at Jefferson Hospital, Louisville.

Mr. Stan F. Morris, 27, of Thomson died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at his residence.
Mr. Morris was a native of McDuffie County. He was a construction worker with Wiley Brothers. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Shelton officiating. Burial was in the Morris Family Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Sandra Morris.

Kathleen “Rose” Evans Jordan Shank, 79, of Wadley died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, in Jacksonville, Fla.
Mrs. Shank was born in Wadley. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Willa Evans. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Bethany cemetery in Wadley, with Rev. Douglas Hines officiating.
Survivors include her children, Kathleen J. Rosier, Andy Jordan, Carl Shank, Karin Shank, Mark Shank, Carol Redmond, Thomas Shank and Paul Shank; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Helen Dixon Washington
Mrs. Helen Dixon Washington, 67, of Thomson died Sunday morning, Jan. 27, 2008.
Mrs. Washington was born in Avera and was one of twelve children. She was a member of and baptized in The Gibson Church of God. She later attended Norris Chapel in Harlem.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Columbia Road Chapel with Rev. George Webb officiating. Interment followed at 2 p.m. at The Gospel Chapel cemetery in Avera.
Helen was preceded in death by her late husband, Mr. Robert P. Washington; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Thomas and Inez May Dixon; two sisters, Mrs. Mary May and Mrs. Betty Esgate; four brothers, Mr. Isaac Dixon, Mr. John Dixon, Mr. Bobby Dixon and Mr. Joseph Dixon.
Survivors include her two daughters, Vickie Washington Guay (Richard) and Mary Washington Fleming (Kevin); and one granddaughter, Heather Nicole Guay; and her dog, Toogie; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Poteet and Mrs. Ann Williams (George); three brothers, Mr. Max Dixon, Mr. Lewis Dixon (Sherryl) and Mr. William Dixon (Mary); and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Edna Dixon and Mrs. Charlotte Dixon Herbert; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ivylin Howell White
Mrs. Ivylin Howell White of Jewell Community entered into rest Feb. 1, 2008, at her residence.
Mrs. White was a lifelong resident of Warren County. She was a faithful member and servant at Long Creek Baptist Church, Mitchell, for over 50 years. Mrs. White also served as Sunday School teacher, Bible School leader, and WMU member. She was the wife of the late William Eugene White for 48 years, daughter of the late Ola Dye Howell and the late Fred M. Howell, and sister of the late Ellen Howell Frost and Douglas Howell.
Graveside services were held at 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at the Long Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, with Tom and Deloris Egglestan along with Chad Crews officiating.
Survivors include son, William (Alice) Douglas White, Louisville, Ky.; daughters, Cynthia White Roof, Anderson, S.C., and Laurie (Billy) White Hobbs, Thomson; grandsons, Brian White, Benjamin White, Daniel Palmer; great-granddaughter, Avery White; and step-grandson, David Hobbs.

John W. Arrington, 83, of Bonaire, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008.
A memorial service will be held at Wrens Church of God on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at 2 p.m.
Mr. Arrington was born in Jefferson County to the late Monroe and Lillie Mae Taylor Arrington. He was a member of The Rain Church.

Mrs. Maude "Nana" James Beasley
Mrs. Maude “Nana” James Beasley, 76, of Thomson, entered into rest Feb. 8, 2008, at Heartland Hospice.
Mrs. Beasley was born in Davisboro, but lived in McDuffie County most of her life. She was retired as a seamstress from Stapleton Garment Company with 29 years of service. She was also a homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was the wife of the late Roy James and the late Clarence L. Beasley.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Ferrell officiating. Interment followed in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Beasley was preceded in death by a daughter Shirley Ann James, her father Henderson Key and a brother Johnny Key.
