Funeral services for Mr. Rochelle Heggs, 47, of Louisville were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Sand Valley A.M.E. Church in Louisville.

Mr. William Allen Howell
Mr. William Allen Howell, age 82, of Mitchell, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at University Hospital Augusta.
Mr. Howell, a native and life long resident of Warren County, was a retired barber and owner of Howell’s Barber Shop. He was a member of Jewell Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and teacher of the Adult Men’s Sunday school class. He was a writer and poet and regularly contributed to the Warrenton Clipper.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Seaman officiating. Burial followed in the Jewell Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include one sister, Evelyn H. Shelton, Mitchell; two nephews, Allen M. Howell, Missouri and Billy Shelton, Wrens; four nieces, Mary May, Warthen, Henrietta Guy, Thomson, Cathy Kitchens, Mitchell, and Gracie Costello, Mitchell.

Mr. Carroll D. Kneece
Mr. Carroll D. Kneece, 63, of Augusta entered into rest Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, in Yuma, Ariz.
Mr. Kneece was a lifelong resident of Augusta and the son of the late James and Jakie Smith Kneece. He was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God, a truck driver and a veteran of the Vietnam where he served in the Navy and Marines.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at 4 p.m. at the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors with Pastor Jeff Hines officiating. Interment followed in the Smith Family Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Monika Kneece; one son, Carroll D. Kneece Jr. of Augusta; one step-son, Roy Rabun of Hephzibah; six daughters, Jackie Kneece of Augusta, Maria Mays of Martinez, Rita Angelisanti of Martinez, Linda Nobles of Evans, Cindy Donaldson of Martinez, and Carol Laluz of Augusta; one stepdaughter, Christine Fiorino of Naples, Fla.; one brother, James A. Kneece of Augusta; two sisters, Louise K. Wood of Augusta and Jeannette K. Garn of Mitchell; 25 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Usry Landrum
Mrs. Mary Usry Landrum, 94, of Warrenton died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at Warrenton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at the Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery, Glascock County, with Dr. Charles Drummond officiating.
Mrs. Landrum, a native of Glascock County, was the daughter of the late Thomas and Emma Marsh Usry. She was a retired seamstress with Garland Knitting Mills and a member of the Warrenton First Baptist Church and the Laura Lee Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Cecil Landrum and her daughter, Elizabeth Edwards..
Survivors include two sons, Everett (Carolyn) Landrum, Clarksville, and Danny Edwards, Warrenton; two sisters, Dessie Newsome, Warrenton, and Blanche Kitchens, Gibson; one brother, Ray Usry, Augusta; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were deacons of Warrenton First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Barbara Wilcher McNeely
Mrs. Barbara Wilcher McNeely, 74, of Louisville died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at the Hospice House in Savannah.
Mrs. McNeely was the daughter of the late Lewis Cheatham Wilcher and Ella Hazel Humphrey Wilcher Odum. She retired from the Department of Agriculture, ASCS Office following 35 years of service. Mrs. McNeely was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Louisville, the Philathea Sunday school Class and the Church Choir.
Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, in the First Baptist Church of Louisville. Burial was in the Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Rev. Larry Montgomery officiated.
Pallbearers were Dan Glover, Larry Smith, Tony Stavely, Britt Searcy, Johnny Gordy and Steve Sapp.
Survivors include her husband, Andrew James McNeely of Louisville; a daughter, Karen (John) McNeely Dana of Sandersville; a son, Dr. James (Laura) Michael McNeely of Savannah; two brothers, Lewis C. Wilcher Jr. of Columbus, and Oliver Curtis Wilcher of Louisville; grandsons, Ron Livingston and Neal Livingston, both of Louisville.

Mr. Willie Lee Nelson Sr.
Mr. Willie Lee Nelson Sr., 74, of Wrens, entered into rest Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008.
At an early age he joined Ways Grove Baptist Church. He was a master of the pulp wood and logging business. Mrs. Nelson operated his own business with at least three trucks in operation and six employees.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, 11 a.m. at Ways Grove Baptist Church, Wrens, with Rev. Jimmy McCullough officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his children, Geneva Nelson, Fannie Lee (Lawrence) Freeman, and Earnest (Patricia Nelson, all of Augusta, Willie (Melissa) Nelson and Alexander Nelson, both of Louisville, Alfred (Vanessa) Nelson of Wrens, and Joe (Pam) Nelson of Zebina; siblings, Walter G. Mrs. Glenda G. Pollett, 71, of Wadley died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Jefferson Hospital in Louisville.
Mrs. Pollett, born in Laurens County, was retired from the Jefferson County School System, and a member of Colemans Chapel United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Colemans Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Pat Holbert officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Gail Smith of Alvin, Texas, Debra (Paul) Purvis of Wadley, and Sharon Knight of Gilbert, Ariz; five grandchildren, Lorraine Holston of Alvin, Texas, Paige Purvis of Wadley, and Tyler, Jennifer and Megan Knight of Gilbert, Ariz; two great-grandchildren, Dustin and Hayden Holston of Alvin, Texas; and one sister, Bealah Daniels of Dublin.

Mrs. Ivylin Snider Rachels, of Warthen died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, in the Pine Hill United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Pine Hill Church Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Elroy Rachels of Warthen; her children, Wanda Rachels Wells of Sparta, Thomas Carl Rachels of Mitchell, Jay G. Rachels of Warthen, John E. Rachels of Sandersville, and Kris Rachels Cawley of Locus Grove; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty S. Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Henderson Thornton
Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Henderson Thornton, 80, of Augusta entered into rest Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, in New York.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Belle-Terrace Presbyterian Church-USA with Reverend Melvin G. Lowry officiating.
Mrs. Thornton was born in Charleston, S.C., on June 21, 1927. She was the daughter of Rev. George Edward Henderson and Ida Mae Phillips Henderson. She attended school at Avery Institute, Charleston, S.C., Knox High School, Selma, Ala. and Harbison Institute, Irmo, S.C. She received her bachelors degree from Barber Scotia College in Concord, N.C., in 1948 where she majored in Christian education. She married
Calvin Ernest Thornton in 1949. In 1967, the Thorntons moved to Georgia where they served and lived at Boggs Academy in Keysville. She was co-organizer and administrator of the B&B; Day Care Center in Keysville.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ida Henderson; brothers, George II and Nathan Henderson; her sisters, Emma Henderson Dinkins and Ida Mae Henderson McConnell, her husband, Calvin Sr.; and her sons, George and Calvin Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Elaine of Millerton, N.Y.; grandchildren, Christian McKenzie of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Sterling, Cameron and Clarke Thornton of Stone Mountain, and Kenyatta McKenzie of Millerton, N.Y.; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Tompkins Thornton of Stone Mountain; sisters-in-law: Blondell Thornton of Simsbury, Conn., and Delores Thornton of Atlanta; a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, the Belle Terrace Church family, cousins and friends.

Mr. Willie "Will" Albert Walker Jr.
Mr. Willie “Will” Albert Walker Jr., 67, of Louisville departed this life, Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Jones Grove Baptist Church and Cemetery.
Mr. Walker was a native of Jefferson County, the son of Louise “Baby” Broomfield Walker and the late Albert “Pat” Walker. He moved to New Jersey several years ago. He worked and later retired in 1995 from Heavy General Labor in New Jersey. He was a member of Local Labor Union #172. After his retirement he returned to Jefferson County where he joined the Jones Grove Baptist Church and was baptized and ordained as a deacon. Mr. Walker also joined the Spring Bethel Benevolent Society and the Chorus DeLeon Society where he also served as treasurer.
Survivors include his son, Timothy (Donna) Walker of Philadelphia, Pa.; his mother, Louise Broomfield Walker of Louisville; one grandchild; his siblings, Lacey (Mildred) Walker of Burlington, N.J., Thelma Singleton of St. Petersburg, Fla., John (Liz) Walker of Savannah, Louise (Phillip) Harris of Fairburn, and Eddie Oliphant of Los Angles, Calif.; uncle and friend, Deacon John Henry Broomfield of Louisville; aunts, Mandie Dilsey Walker of Wadley, and Marie Jordan of Waycross; his caretakers, Grace Williams, Krystal Williams, Bobby Broomfield and James Broomfield all of Louisville; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Frizell Elease Terrell Williams
Mrs. Frizell Elease Terrell Williams, 71, of Amarillo, Texas, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008.
Mrs. Williams was born May 9, 1936, in Avera. She was the daughter of Stafford Terrell and Lizzie Brassell-Terrell. She was married
for 35 years to Johnnie Williams. She was a member of Greater Love Temple, and also known as “Kiddo” and “Aunt Old School.” She loved going to church, cooking, baking and quilting. She was also an avid bowler with many accolades, including the State Champion Texas Women’s Bowling Association, Division 4 Doubles Champion in 1998. Mrs. Williams also worked and volunteered at the Amarillo United Citizens Forum Black Historical Cultural Center.
Services were at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, in Greater Love Temple, Amarillo, with the Rev. Jackie Riles, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Llano cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lizzie Brassell-Terrell; a sister, Lovie Austin; and two brothers, Walter Terrell and Allen Terrell.
Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Williams; a son, Johnnie Keith Williams; three sisters, Classie (Jimmie) Roberts and Hester Joan Hines, both of Stapleton, and Vivian Gibson of Augusta; a brother-in-law, Gene Austin; a goddaughter, Sarah Brazier and her two daughters, Danelle and Sandra Brazier and their children; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Robert Stanley "Tanny" Zeigler
Mr. Robert Stanley “Tanny” Zeigler, 76, of Wrens, entered into rest Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Trinity Hospital of Augusta.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Ways Baptist Church, Stellaville, with Rev. L. Wayne Turpin officiating. Burial followed at Ways Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Zeigler was born on July 2, 1931, in Jefferson County. He attended the Stellaville School until he transferred to Wrens High School where he graduated in 1950. Upon graduation, Mr. Zeigler enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean conflict. He was employed as a forester with Steve Crawford Forest Products of Waynesboro for 22 years until his retirement. He was also the owner and operator of a men’s clothing store, Country Gent, on Broad Street in Wrens during the 1970s. Mr. Zeigler was baptized as a youth at Ways Baptist Church and remained an active member of the congregation until his death. He served on the Board of Trustees of Ways Baptist Church Cemetery. He was also a charter member of the Col. William Few Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution. Mr. Zeigler was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Zeigler was preceded in death by his parents, David Leland and Annie Mae Godowns Zeigler: his brother, David Leland Zeigler Jr.; his sisters, Doris Zeigler McKenzie and Bebe Zeigler Raines; and his grandparents, Manley and Idella Davis Austin Zeigler and James and Eugenia Joiner Godowns.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Moye Zeigler, Wrens; a brother, Leon J. Zeigler, Martinez; a sister, Mrs. B.L. (Inez) Z. Brown, Harlem; a sister-in-law, Carol Heirs Zeigler, Augusta; nephews, Vincent Rains, Wrens, Robert Brown (Kay), Harlem, Kenneth Brown (Kim), Sylvania, Serrell K. Zeigler (Susan), Waycross, David L. Zeigler III, Augusta, Chris J. Zeigler (Shawn), Evans; nieces, Angela Porter (David), Frisco, Texas, Janet R. Pilcher (John), Wrens, Tonya R. McCormick, Kennesaw, Patti Z. Edwards (Robbie), Grovetown, Susan Z. Hendricks (Brian), Martinez. A number of great nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Fronie Bell Black, 105, of Louisville entered into rest Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at the Jefferson Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at 2 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. David Jones, Rev. Ronnie Shelton and Don Black officiating. Burial followed at Jordon Chapel Church of God cemetery in Edgehill.
Mrs. Black was born on May 9, 1902, in Glascock County. Mrs. Black was a member of Jordon Chapel Church of God and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Ozie Black, her parents, Luther Marsh and Hattie Lamb Marsh, and her son Luther Black.
Survivors include her children, Lois Wilcher (Carroll) Rhodes, David (Faye Brooks) Black, Lonice Williford Russell, Kester (Betty Andrews) Black, Janelle B. Shelton, Jean B. (James) McCoy, Jimmy (Vannie) Black, and Don (Lynda) Black; and a daughter-in-law, Anita B. Black; 20 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bob Wilcher, Dean Wilcher, D. Wilcher, Tony Black, Billy Williford, Marc Williford, Robbie K. Black, Dwight Shelton, Scott Black, Craig Black and Randy Black.
