Mrs. Barbara Avis Baker, 71, of Matthews entered into rest on Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at Doctor’s Hospital.
Mrs. Baker was a member of Wrens United Methodist Church.
Memorial services were held on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at 4 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Stan Littleton officiating.
Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd A. Beemer and Avis Slater Beemer.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley Baker; children Tim Lewis, Jim Lewis, Jeff Lewis and Michael Gnaster.
Mrs. Rose Mae Davis
Funeral services for Mrs. Rose Mae Davis, 80, of Wrens were held on Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Harts Grove Baptist Church, Stapleton, with the Rev. Dr. W.L. Jones, Pastor, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include three children, Melvin (Joann) Davis, Mary Davis and Marion Neal, all of Wrens; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Jeannie Williams Faglier
Mrs. Jeannie Williams Faglier of Hephzibah entered into rest on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at her residence.
She worked as a real estate agent for Century 21 Realty and was a member of Hephzibah Baptist Church.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home Lumpkin Chapel, with Rev. John Beck officiating.
Mrs. Faglier was preceded in death by her parents, Jeffery L. Williams and Mary Sue Martin Williams; and a brother, Jeffery T. Williams.

Mr. Sidney W. Norton
Mr. Sidney W. Norton, 66, of Wrens entered into rest on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at University Hospital.
Mr. Norton was a member of Wrens United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Camden Military Academy and the owner of Norton Lumber Company. Mr. Norton served as a Jefferson County Commissioner for 14 years.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at 2 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Stan Littleton officiating. Burial followed at Wrens Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Norton is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd L. Norton and Thelma Black Norton; two brothers, David Norton and J. Richard Norton; two sisters, Frances Norton and Nancy N. Wren.
Survivors include three sisters, Gloria N. Craft, Wrens, Dorothy L. Norton, Lynchburg, Va., and Jane N. Jones, Wrens; two brothers, Ben W. Norton, Smyrna, and Spence C. Norton, Wrens; a friend, Maria Rooney; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Bob Swan, Billy Weatherford, Loren Barrow, Billy Faglier, Dr. Danny Newman and Jesse Huff.
Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Jefferson County Commission.

Ms. Vinia Robertson of Warrenton entered into rest on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Beausejour, Mitchell, Mary Wilcher and Caldonia Reynolds, both of Warrenton; four sons, S. T. Robertson, and Freddie Robertson, both of Augusta, Hossie Robertson Jr., and Sylvester Robertson, both of Warrenton; 30 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Louise M. Williford, 92, of Stapleton entered into rest on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at the Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Williford was retired from Stapleton Garment as a seamstress.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. at Stapleton Memorial Garden, with Rev. Sam Collins officiating.
Mrs. Williford is preceded in by her husband, Ray Williford; and a daughter, Nora Williford.
Survivors include her son, Jim Williford; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. James W. “Tater” Self
Mr. James W. Self “Tater”, 79, of Hephzibah entered into rest Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at his home. He was born July 10, 1929 in Richmond County, to the late Charlie Jackson Self and Maggie Marie James Self. He retired from Murray Biscuit Company after serving for over 35 years. Mr. Self was a Past Master of the Richmond Lodge #412, a member of the Scottish Rites, Order of the Eastern Star, and York Rite.
Funeral Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, in the Chapel of DeLoach Funeral Home, Hephzibah. Interment followed, with Masonic Rites, at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, Hephzibah.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gleason Self; and a son, Sammy Diaz.
Survivors include eight children, Frankie Diaz (Penny) of North Carolina, Linda Holbrooks (Kenny) of Matthews, Jackie Self of Augusta, Marie Taylor (Bobby) of Martinez, Billy Diaz of Nashville, Tenn., Brenda Blitchington (Steve) of Augusta, Margaret Story (Phillip) of Hephzibah, and Kathleen Mason (Eddie) of Modoc, S.C.; daughter-in-law, Eli Diaz of Elberton; two sisters, Ruth McDaniel (Fred) of Augusta, and Mary Bartlett of Evans; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Survivors include children, Willie Rivers, Linda Rivers, Jametta Shields and Mack Shields, all of Warrenton, Willie (Brenda) Shields and James (Katrina) Shields, both of Wrens, and Felicia Shields, Thomson; granddaughter reared as a daughter, Sharon Rivers, Thomson; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; friend, Ronnie Lindsey, Thomson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Willie Nelle Black Whisenant
Mrs. Willie Nelle Black Whisenant, 90, of Aiken, S.C. entered into rest on Friday, Dec. 5, 2008.
She was born in Avera, but has been a resident of Aiken County for the past 80 years. She was of the Methodist faith. She was a retired lab technician.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home, with Rev. Gene Wilson officiating. The interment followed at the Graniteville Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Whisenant; parents, Willie Black and Shelly Railey Black; and two grandchildren, Billy F. Golden and Clifford F. Golden.
Survivors include her sons, Bobby Golden of North Augusta and Billy F. Golden Sr., of New Bern, N.C.; a daughter, Shirley Glisson of Graniteville; five grandchildren, Jill Golden, Cristie Golden Shuford, Tiffinay Miller, Michael Sheppard and Kathy Holley; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mr. Wallace Lamar Brown Sr. of Louisville entered into rest on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008.
Mr. Brown was born on July 18, 1940, in Louisville to Wallace and Geneva Brown. He was a graduate of Jefferson County School System. He retired from Thermo King Corporation in 1998 as an assistant foreman. He was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville, with Rev. Isaac Culberth officiating. Internment was in the Cour de Leon Society Cemetery.
Survivors include his children, Wallace L. Brown Jr., Michael A. Brown, Angela D. Brown, Veronica Davis (Johnny Jr.), Tracy L. Brown, Stacy L. Brown (Rev. Charles), and Contessa Dixon; siblings, William “Homer” Brown, Walter Brown, Jimmy Atkins, Geneva Gay (Edward Sr.), Mattie Williams (Robert), and Mary Jane Brown; 17 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mrs. Edna Dyck, 89, of Moundridge, Kan. entered into rest on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at the Moundridge Manor, Moundridge, Kan.
She was born to Andrew H. and Maria Eidse Koehn on Feb. 24, 1919, in Canton, Kan.
Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at Pinecrest Church of God in Christ Mennonite Church, with Ministers Brian Dyck, Randal Goossen and Maynard Peters officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer Dyck; four sons, Vernon (Vada) Dyck and Glenn Dyck, California, Franklin (Jean) Dyck, Stapleton, Monroe (Rosie) Dyck, Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada, and Daniel (Brenda) Dyck, Middleton, Mich.; daughter-in-law, Ruth Boehs, Stapleton; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; and many friends and acquaintances.

Mrs. Margaret H. Kelly
Mrs. Margaret H. Kelly, 80, of Louisville entered into rest on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at University Hospital.
Mrs. Kelly was a member of First Baptist Church, Louisville. She had been a nurse most of her life at Jefferson Hospital and had worked for St. Joseph Home Health Care for several years before retiring.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, with Bill Smith officiating.
Survivors include a son, Mike (Nicole) Hartley, Evans; a daughter, Lynn (Steve) Farmer, Macon; brother, Lewis (Irma Jean) Hadden, Belvedere; and four grandchildren, Stephanie Hartley, Nicolas (Holly) Hartley, Matthew Farmer and Nathan Farmer.
