Ms. Diane Johnson Leggett
Diane Johnson Leggett, 60, of Augusta entered into rest Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at University Hospital.
Ms. Leggett was a native of Jefferson County and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She was a homemaker and a graduate of George P. Butler High School.
Memorial services were held Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at 11 a.m. from The First Church of The Nazarene with Pastor Joe Lennon officiating. Internment followed in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Avera.
Ms. Leggett was preceded in death by her father, John Curtis Johnson Jr.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Rachel Leggett of Nashville, Tenn.; mother, Melvis Johnson of Augusta; aunt, Margie McGee of Augusta; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Brinson Lowry
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Brinson Lowry, 84, of Augusta entered into rest Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at Doctors Hospital.
She was a native of Augusta and retired from Georgia Regional Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Oscar Wells officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olive Memorial Garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lowry.
Survivors include her son, Leroy (Helen) Brinson; stepdaughter, Debra Samuels, Augusta; two sisters, Georgia Jordan and Lucille (James) Aaron, Augusta; one brother, Apostle Sylvester (Louella) Brinson, Chicago, Ill.; three aunts; two uncles; three grandchildren, Gwendolyn Brinson, Bernard Jones and Shameka Gilead; seven great-grandchildren; special niece, Barbara (Carroll) Beck; other nieces, nephews, cousins; sisters- in-law, Doretha Norman and Earnestine Walker, Louisville; brothers-in-law, Raymond Lowry, St. Petersburg, Pa. and Willie Paul Lowry, Louisville.

Mrs. Ann Smith McGraw
Mrs. Ann Smith McGraw, 90, of Louisville entered into rest on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008.
Mrs. McGraw was born March 19, 1918, in Glascock County, a daughter of the late Cliff and Mattie Parrish Smith. She lived all her life in Glascock and Jefferson counties. Mrs. McGraw retired after more than 30 years of service from Avon as a sales representative. She was a longtime member of the former Louisville Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, in the Louisville Church of God, with Rev. Warren Killingsworth, Rev David Severance and Mr. James Handberry officiating. Burial followed in the family plot in the Louisville City Cemetery.
Mrs. McGraw was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Mr. Lake McGraw.
Survivors include her children, Barbara (Reggie) Evans of Soperton, Larry (Margaret) McGraw of Davisboro, Yvonne (John) Sligar of Grovetown, Harry “Crow” (Sara) McGraw of Wadley, and Kathy (Rich) Gabor of Augusta; her brother, Charles (Ophelia) Smith of Pompano Beach, Fla.; 28 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Bryan Usry, Larry McGraw Jr., Rodney McGraw, Barry Cooper, Adam Harris and Kurt Young.

Mrs. Ethel Eleanor Hauser Roark
Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Eleanor Hauser Roark were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at Stockbridge United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Roark was born December 13, 1910, in Jefferson County, the fourth of seven children of Carl Lewis and Ethel Harlow Hauser. She won several spelling competitions at the local and regional levels. After graduating from Louisville Academy in 1928 she assisted her father in the Louisville telegraph office. In 1931 she married
Earl Woodliff Roark of Flowery Branch. She was a participant in WSCS (UMW) at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, Home Demonstration Club and Campfire Girls.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Earl Roark; and a grandson, Chuck Watters Jr.
Surviving include two daughters, Alice Roark and Janie R. Watters of Clermont; two sons, John H. Roark (Peggy) of Buford and Robert E. Roark (Shirla) of Stockbridge; a sister-in-law, Angie Hauser of Thomson; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ms. Martha Lee Smith of Gibson entered into rest on Friday, Oct. 24, 2008.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church, Gibson, with Rev. Carlos Newton Sr. officiating.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Nancy Robinson, Pooler; nieces and nephews, Tiffany and Alonzo Richard, Frederick Robinson, Justin Robinson, Nicholas Robinson and Jasmine Robinson; other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Sue Beasley Wells, 72, entered into rest on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at Keysville Health Care Center following several years of declining health.
Graveside services were conducted on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at 4 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery near Avera.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Beasley and Amy Powell Harden; her sisters, Pauline Miller and Dorothy Watkins; her brother, Paul Beasley; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Survivors include her sisters and brothers, Frances Newman of Augusta, John Beasley of Leavenworth, Kan., Florence Pressley of Greenville, S.C., Jean Cashwell of Beech Island, S.C., Thelma Adcock of Athens, Amy Gormley of Augusta, Elton Beasley and Felton Beasley, both of Stapleton.

Mr. Roger Wesley Williams
Roger Wesley Williams, 87, of Louisville entered into rest on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, in the Jefferson County Hospital.
Mr. Williams was a native of Jefferson County, the son of the late Bessie Mae Rhodes Williams and the late Bunyan Walker Williams. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the Providence Baptist Church. Mr. Williams worked for the Philco Ford Corporation and was assigned to the Houston Space Center. Philco Ford later became known as Lockheed Martin and Mr. Williams worked as a ground control supervisor where he retired after 35 years of service. Upon his retirement he returned to Louisville.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, in the Zeta Cemetery, Tennille, with Rev. Scott Nash officiating.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Gisela Kleinz Williams of Louisville; two bothers, Lamar Williams and Lucius (Audrey) Williams; a sister, Sarah Williams Gibson, all of Louisville; nieces, Anita Hartley of Macon, Gisela (Bodo) Warlies of Germany and Ann Canfield of Louisville, Ky.; and nephews Glynn Hartley of Warner Robins and Ron Gibson of Louisville.

Mr. Johnny Kelly Danford Jr. of Wadley entered into rest on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, in Louisville.
His funeral was held on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Hudson Mortuary Chapel in Wadley, with Rev. C.W. Stone officiating. Burial was in the Braddy Family Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie “Sally” Danford, Wadley; four sons, Ashanti Ghazikhalif, Atlanta, Glenn Danford and David Johnson, both of Wadley, and Demetrius Davis, Bartow; his sister, Lenora (C’Lester) Tooks, Wadley; his brother, David Allen Danford, Wadley; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mr. M.J. Etheridge Jr., 85, of Tennille entered into rest on Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in the Zeta cemetery in Tennille. Rev. Mark Jones officiated.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Robinson Etheridge of Tennille; children, Dr. Victor I. Etheridge (Dorothy Christine) of Sandersville, Kay E. Jones (Reese) of Louisville and Minor John Etheridge (Jane) of Evans; grandchildren, Johnathan Blake Etheridge, Brett R. Jones, Bryan G. Jones and J. Mrs. Jennie Lee Flournoy, 76, of Bartow entered into rest on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at her residence.
Mrs. Flournoy was born Jan. 1, 1932 to the parents of the late Ben Brown and Mary Bell Thompson Brown. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ebenezer CME. She attended the Jefferson County School System. She was married
to the late Howard Flournoy.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Ebenezer CME Church and cemetery.
Survivors include her childrenm, Willie C. Mr. Douglas Wayne Jackson Sr., 48, of Bartow entered into rest on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at his residence.
Mr. Jackson was a native of Warthen, the son of Annie Ruth Wiley Jackson and the late Stonewall Jackson Jr. He attended Washington County Public Schools, was a member of the Holley Spring Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He was employed as a truck driver.

Mrs. Mattie Lee Miller of Louisville entered into rest on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008.
She was born in Jefferson County to Clara Patterson Cooper and the late Leroy Cooper Sr. on April 26, 1946. At a young age she became a member of Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She attended the public schools in Jefferson County. She was united into marriage to Willie Miller.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville, with Rev. Isaac Culberth officiating.
Preceding her in death was her sister, Mary Ann Cooper.

Mr. Linton Lanson Raley, 67, of St. Louis, Mo. entered into rest on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008.
Mr. Raley grew up in Gibson and graduated from Wadley High School in 1959. He then attended and graduated from Jacksonville State University in Alabama. He retired from Monsanto Corporation/Solutia after a career in sales management.
A Memorial Mass of the Resurrection was held at St. Monica Church, Creve Coeur, Mo., on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at 11 a.m.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Linton and Elsie Raley.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta C. Raley of St. Louis, Mo.; his daughter, DeJuana (Jim) Wilbourn; grandsons, Josh and Jake Wilbourn of Owens Crossroads, Ala.; sister, Bobbie (Bob) Rutledge of Huntsville, Ala.; mother-in-law, Josephine Corvaglia of St. Louis, Mo.
