Mrs. Alma Ruth Onley, 52, of Stapleton died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at Eisenhower Hospital.
Mrs. Onley was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church.
The funeral was Dec. 24 at 3 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Allen Studdard officiating.
Survivors include her husband, Harlan Onley; a son, Andrew Onley; two daughters, Tammy Palmore and Linda Palmore; one brother, Don Prickett; five sisters, Martha Tobias, Judy Flake, Ellen Swint, Betty Prickett and Ann Unruh; two granddaughters; stepchildren, Donna James, Janet Watts, David Onley, Dianne Onley and John Onley; 18 nephews, 12 nieces, eight step-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were James Tobias, Jamie Prickett, Larry Prickett, Andy Prickett, Alvin Unruh and Henry Flake.

Carl Wasden
Mr. Carl Wasden, 62, of Louisville died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007.
Mr. Wasden, a native of Jefferson County, was a life-long resident of the Louisville area.
He worked at Thermo King for 42 years and served in the US Air Force.
The funeral will be Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Elder Eddie Wiggins officiating.
Burial will be in Louisville Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his mother, Martha Morgan, Louisville; two sisters, Elaine (Frank) Youngblood, Louisville, and Gail (Garry) Sadrix, Villa Rica; one brother, Jimmy (Diane) Wasden, Swainsboro; nephew, Phil (Carla) Hancock, Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.

Miss Teri Rutland, 23, of Wrens died Monday, Dec. 25, 2006.
The funeral was Dec. 29 at 1 p.m. at Ways Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy McCullough III officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her parents, Charles and Delores Rutland, Wrens; three sisters, Vicki Rutland, Korea, Nicole Scott and Charlene Rutland, Chattanooga, Tenn.; one brother, Kendrick Rutland, Oak Harbor, Wash.; maternal grandmother, Johnnie M. Moore, Savannah; and several other relatives.

Deacon Johnnie Winnon Shields, 97, of Wrens died Monday, Dec. 25, 2006.
Mr. Shields was a farmer. He was a member and deacon of Stamp Branch Baptist Church.
The funeral was Dec. 29 at 1 p.m. at Stamp Branch Baptist Church, Warrenton, with the Rev. Robert L. Martin officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.

Lamar Thomas “Shorty” Smith
Mr. Lamar Thomas “Shorty” Smith, 77, of Bartow died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, at Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Smith, a native of Washington County, was the son of the late Eugene Thomas Smith and Ruth Josey Smith.
He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Georgia Power Company.
He was a member of Josey Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and song leader.
He served his country in the United States Army in Germany.
He is predeceased by his wife, Mary Hoton Smith; two sisters, Margaret Smith and Emily Smith; and a brother, Josey Smith.
The funeral was Dec. 29 at Josey Baptist Church with the Rev. Inman Jarrell officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include three sisters, Anne Smith Todd, Sandersville, Kay Smith Meeks, Augusta, and Gayle Smith Schroeder, Manitowoc, Wis.; a brother, Werlyn Smith, Bartow; and several nieces and nephews.

Eloise Warren Tarver
Mrs. Eloise Warren Tarver, 88, of Wadley died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2006.
Mrs. Tarver, a native of Stillmore, had lived in Wadley since 1942.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Wadley First United Methodist Church.
The funeral was Dec. 28 at 11 a.m. in the Wadley First United Methodist Church with Dr. Larry Sauls and the Rev. Tom Harrison officiating.
Burial was in the Bethany Cemetery.Survivors include her husband, James “Jimmy” Daniel Tarver Jr.; a daughter, Sue (Ronnie) Hayslip, Augusta; two sons, Robert (Jane) Lamb, Augusta, and Jim (Betty Rose) Tarver, Zephyr Hills, Fla.; a sister, Mary E. Bullard, Jonesboro; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Sammie Daniel, 80, of Avera, passed at the Bontana Nursing Center in East Point on Dec. 16, 2007.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the Magnolia Baptist Church, Avera, with the Elder LaVelton Daniel, Presiding and Bishop James Daniel, eulogist. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Master Lonnie McGraw "Tray" Davis, infant son of Megan Rae Caran and Lonnie Gee "Skip" Davis of Louisville died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, in the Louisville First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Beau Taylor officiating. Burial was in the Louisville City Cemetery.

Mr. Richard William "Billy" Downs
Mr. Richard William ‘Billy’ Downs, 75, of Lincolnton, entered into rest Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at University Hospital.
Mr. Downs was a native of Glascock County, but lived in Martinez for many years before retiring to Lincolnton. He was the son of the late Ira Downs Sr. and the late Nancy Todd Downs. He was retired from B.P. Oil Company as a store manager and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 16, 200, at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Prater officiating. Interment followed in Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife for 55 years, Jeanette Dye Downs, Lincolnton; brothers: Ira Downs Jr., Juliet, Tenn., Samuel T. Downs, Harlem, David Downs, Atlanta, Tommy Downs, Winder, Timmy Downs, Salt Lake City, Utah; sister, Ann McCoy, Warrenton; a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Jessica B. Hopper
Mrs. Jessica B. Hopper, 30, of Alexander, entered into rest Monday, Dec. 10, 2007.
She was a longtime employee of Citifinancial in Waynesboro and was currently employed by Queensborough Bank and Trust in Louisville. Mrs. Hopper was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesboro, the Foundations Sunday School Class, and served as chair of the Children’s Council at FUMC.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro with the Rev. Marshall Singletary officiating. Interment followed the service at Burke Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro.
Mrs. Hopper was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, the late Woodrow Barefield, and maternal grandparents, the late Mr. Alford and Mrs. Edith Cannady.
Mrs. Hopper was the wife of John Frederick “Rick” Hopper. Mrs. Hopper, a native of Burke County, is the daughter of Ralph and Lena Barefield of Alexander.
In addition to her husband and her parents, survivors include her daughter, Sarah Abigail Scott, and her sons, John Braxton Hopper and William Carson Hopper; her sisters, Jamie B. Dixon and Nancy B. Mills (Jamie); paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ruby Barefield; father and mother-in-law, Billy and Marianne Hopper; brother-in-law, Bill Hopper (Donna); and sister-in-law, Nell H. Dixon (Herbie); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers were Phillip Kidney, Shawn Barefield, Kevin Bowman, Wes Godbee, Billy Horton, Tim Carey, Tracey Pressley, Brent Willis, Max Boswell and Chris Winkler.

Mrs. Louise Moore Lamb, age 98, of Wadley, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Jefferson Hospital in Louisville.
Mrs. Lamb was a lifelong resident of Wadley, a homemaker and a Baptist.
Graveside services were Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at 3 p.m. in the Bethany cemetery in Wadley, with Dr. Warren Devevo and Rev. Kenneth Watkins officiating.
Survivors include her son, Jack (Nita) Lamb; five daughters, Betty Anderson, Ann (Donald) Oglesby, Judy (Leonard) Oglesby, Peggy (John) Powell, and Donna (Bill) Pettit; 16 grandchildren and 19-great-grandchildren.
