Mr. Lindy “Bo” Chalker
Mr. Lindy “Bo” Chalker, 60, of Augusta entered into rest on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at Doctors Hospital.
Mr. Chalker was a native of Gibson, but resided in Evans. He was employed at Plant Vogtle. He was previously employed by Carter Electric.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son, with Rev. Russell Davis and Key Kernaghan officiating. Interment followed at 2 p.m. at Gibson United Methodist Church cemetery in Gibson.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Tommy and Viola Chalker; and maternal grandparents, Cleon and Norene Murphy.
Survivors include his spouse, Shirley Chalker; stepdaughters, Becky Yeremyan (Nisan) of Atlanta, and Amy Iannacone (Richard) of North Augusta, S.C.; mother, Joann Chalker of Gibson; father, Lindy M. Chalker Sr. (Florence) of Evans; sister, Kathy Chalker of Gibson; stepbrothers, Michael Teuton and Kenneth Teuton; stepsister, Cheryl Meadows; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Shelton Saylors, J. E. Fires, Donnie Hutchinson, Rick Baker, Rick Ford and Danny Elrod.
Honorary pallbearers were IBEW Local 84 members.

Mr. Frederick Jones
Funeral services for Mr. Frederick Jones, 34, of Thomson were held on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at 2 p.m. at New Zion Hill Church, Thomson, with Pastor Rev. Ronald Freeman presiding and Rev. Dennis Quinn as eulogist. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Joyce and Eugene Harmon, both of Thomson; father, Jesse Wright, Thomson; two daughters, De’Asiah Jones and De’Mariya Jones, both of Monroe; one son, De’Marian Jones, Monroe: paternal grandmother, Lucille Wright, Thomson; six sisters, Chanta Harmon and Kiara Harmon, both of Thomson, Tonya (Robert) Johnson, Wrens, Calandra Jones, Sparta, Brenda Wright, Atlanta, and Sheila Wright, Augusta; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Irene Coppet Mitchell-Hill entered into rest on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, in Pembroke, Fla.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at Union Bethel Baptist Church in Louisville.

Mr. Eddie “Dean” Prickett
Mr. Eddie “Dean” Prickett, 45, of Wrens entered into rest when his home burned on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010.
Mr. Prickett was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at Your Hope Church in Matthews, with Rev. Joe Walden officiating.
Survivors include his parents, Edde Lee “Snookey” and Agnes Mae “Tootsie” Prickett; brother, Matthew Murray (Theresa) Prickett; sister, Norma Jean (Don) Watts; one niece, Tiffany Felicia Watts; three nephews, Don Lamar Lee Watts, Matthew Murray Prickett Jr. and Justin Lee Prickett; and several uncles, aunts and friends.

Oria Sumrall
Ms. Oria Sumrall, 67, of Augusta died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, in Doctors Hospital, Augusta.
Ms. Sumrall was a native of Glascock County but had lived in Augusta for many years. She was the owner and operator of the Finishing Touch.
A memorial service was held Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Donald Widener officiating.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Polizzi, Alexandria, Va.; her son, Steven Izbicki, Parksville, SC; two sisters, Alice Spitz, Thomson, and Margie Holton, Columbia, SC; two brothers, Bobby Wilkerson, Thomson, and Earnest Wilkerson, Ellerslie; and one grandson.

Alice K. Kitchens
Mrs. Alice K. Kitchens, 65, of Gibson died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007.
Mrs. Kitchens, a native of Lancaster, Pa., was a member of Gibson First Baptist Church.
Memorial services were held Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. at Gibson First Baptist Church with the Revs. Ben Bush and Mike Cook officiating.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie (Donald) Bales, Gibson; and one grandchild, Deric Bales, Gibson.

John William Neal
Mr. John William Neal, 94, of Norwood died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at Warrenton Health and Rehab Center.
Mr. Neal, a native of Jefferson County, was the son of the late Mr. John William Sr. and Della Irby Neal. He was a retired farmer and owner of Neal’s Garage. He was a member of Williams Creek Baptist Church, however, in later years he attended Norwood Baptist Church.
The funeral was Jan. 16 at Norwood Baptist Church with the Rev. John Jenkins officiating. Burial was in the Scruggs Cemetery.

Mr. Thomas J. Barnes, 80, of Baxley died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at a Savannah hospital.
The funeral was Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Baxley. Burial was in Omega Cemetery.

Lisle Floyd Turner
Mr . Lisle Floyd Turner, 46, of Augusta died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007.
Mr . Turner, a native of Postdam, NY, was a veteran of the United States Army.

Lettie Burton “Shame” Wells
Mrs. Lettie Burton “Shame” Wells of Wrens died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at McDuffie Regional Hospital in Thomson.
Mrs. Wells was a native of Jefferson County and a member of the Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church, New Zion Wheel, Morning Star and Fair and Honest Society. The funeral will be Jan. 19 at 1 p.m. at Hardeman Spring- field Baptist Church with the Rev. A. Gibbons officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Ada Lee Wells, Wrens, and Jonas Wells, Louisville; her sister, Willie Mae Gibbons, Louisville; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lettie Washington
Ms. Lettie Washington, 70, of Louisville died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007.
Ms . Washington was the daughter of the late Marshall and Lizzie Burton Washington.
At an early age she joined Woodlawn Baptist Church and was also a member of the Spring Bethel Benevolent Society.
The funeral will be Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Spring Bethel Benevolent Society Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Rev. Charles (Mary Ann) Washington, Wrens; two adopted children, Mary Ann Johnson, Augusta, and Patrick Washington, Louisville; sisters, Emma Lee Smith, Mildred “Dolly” Washington, Essie Mae “Thunch” Thompson, all of Louisville, Lenora Ivey, Augusta; daughter-in-law, Gwen Thompson, Louisville; two sisters-in-law, Mattie Washington and Ella Washington, Louisville; one aunt, Carter Washington, Louisville; 12 grandchildren, including Shalandra Washington who was a diligent caretaker.

William R. Wege
Dr. William R. Wege of Louisville died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007.Dr. Wedge, a native of Shawno, Wisc., served as an Aviation Cadet with the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II.
He graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1952 and was in private practice until 1964.
He received a masters degree in oral maxillo radiology from the University of Alabama and in 1967 he accepted an appointment as associate professor and chairman of Dental Radiology at MCG in Augusta.
In 1988 he retired from MCH as full professor and chairman of the admissions department.
Among his many academic appointments, community activities and professional organizations were the Boy Scouts of America, American Cancer Society, Georgia Dental Association and the American Academy of Dental Radiology.
He had published 23 scientific articles and papers and presented over 100 scientific programs both nationally and internationally.
The funeral will be Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary Magdaline Episcopal Church with Father Ron Sutherland officiating.
Burial will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial cemetery in Milledgeville at a later date.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Mohr Wege; sister, Chris (Marve) Steinke, De Pere, Wisc.; son, Dr. W.E. (Carol) Wege, Hinesville; daughters, Donna (Dr. Calvin) Dudley, Albuquerque, NM, and Linda (Dr. Chip) Prichard, Louisville; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Louise C. Anderson
Mrs. Louise C. Anderson, 90, of Jackson, SC, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007.
Mrs. Anderson, a native of Jefferson County, had made Jackson her home for the past 56 years. She was a member of Jackson First Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Truette Eugene Anderson.
The funeral was Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. at Jackson First Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald F. Lumpkin officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Survivors include two daughters, Bobbie A. Baker, Augusta, and Betty A. (Thomas) Brickle, Cope, SC; three brothers, Graham Clarke, Augusta, Hammond Clarke and Eben Clark, both of Hephzibah; two sisters, Ruby Beck, Aiken, and Helen Kennedy, Augusta; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Georgia Mae Dixon, 91, of Matthews died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006.
The funeral was Jan. 6 at 1 p.m. at Ways Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy McCullough III officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Deacon Lawrence Dixon Sr.; a daughter, Bettye (Henry) Walker, Wrens; sister, Jessie (Thomas) Flowers, Swainsboro; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-children.
