Mr. Charlie Johnson, 55, of Wrightsville, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2007.
Mr. Johnson was a native of Johnson County and a member of Ranger Grove COGIC. He was employed as a horticulturist with Gumlog Nursery.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Ranger Grove Church of God in Christ Church and Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Annie L. Ms. Delores Mitchell died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at her residence, Turknett Spring Road, Augusta.
The funeral was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Mt. Aldred Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Ada Lewis Gibbons Natson
Mrs. Ada Lewis Gibbons Natson of Louisville died Sept. 26, 2007, at Jefferson Hospital.
Mrs. Gibbons was a native of Jefferson County and a member of the Canaan Galilee Baptist Church where she served on the Missionary Board and Usher Board, serving the office of secretary until her health failed. She was also a member of the Lone Star Society and the Usher’s Union and NAACP. She was retired from Thermo King Corporation.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 4 p.m. at the Canaan Galilee Baptist Church and Jones Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Edward Lewis, Georgia (Eddie) Brooks, Willie Gibbons, Earnest Gibbons, Jr. all of Phildelphia, Pa., Shirley (Larry) Bullock of Lakeland, Fla.; sisters, Blanche Brown, Jessie Bell Fleming, Mary L. Funeral service for Mr. Leroy Neal, Jr., 77, of Wrens, were held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Avera at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Carlos Newton Sr., Pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Spread Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Ollie W. Neal, Wrens; two sons, Leroy Neal III, Clearwater, Fla., Jeffery (Andrea) Avery, Orlando, Fla.; four daughters, Stacey (Curtis) Bell, Brokie (Bobby) Freeman, Shanda (Walt) Murray, Levonne (Roy) Wilcher, all of Wrens; 19 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one god-child, Star Dae Jackson; one brother, Tommie (Alberta) Neal, Clearwater Fla.; one sister, Alice Jordan, Wrens; mother-in-law, Annie G. Ms. Susie Kelley Williams
Ms. Susie Kelley Williams of Martinez entered into rest on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at Doctor’s Hospital.
Ms. Williams was a native of Glascock County and had made Augusta her home since 1964. Ms. Williams was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral services were on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Tex Mullis officiating. Interment followed at Waldens Methodist Church cemetery in Avera at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Brown Lanthrip of Davisboro, and Wilma Rachels (Jim) of Hephzibah; son, Floyd (Linda) Kelley of Martinez; seven grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Reese of Augusta.

Mr. John Louis "Pee-Wee" Manning
Mr. John Louis “Pee-Wee” Manning departed this life’s journey Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007. He was born in Jefferson County in 1923. He was a 1942 graduate of Blythe High School and a Beta Club Member.
All of his adult life was in Augusta. Most of his employment was in public transportation. After many years of service, he retired from the Augusta Transit System in 1981. He had received all safety medals and cash awards available. He was also a notary for many years. His motto was “Do It Right”. His favorite song was “One Rose Will Do”. His hobbies included auto mechanic and TV technician.
He was a caring husband, father and papa.
Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Friday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mike Gentry officiating.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Fay Manning; two daughters, Virginia Wolverton of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Linda Masterson of Augusta; three sons, John Manning of Jefferson County, Russell Manning of Claxton, Randy Manning and his wife Kim of Grovetown; six living grandchildren, Trapper, Kaliegh, Kyle, Kasey, Alissa and James Daniel and one great-grandson Benjamin; one brother, Henry Manning and his wife Mary of Augusta.
The family will receive friends Wednesday and Thursday evenings at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road Chapel between the hours of 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Mrs. Nancy Lee Heggs Brown
Mrs. Nancy Lee Heggs Brown, of Decatur, died Sept. 14, 2007, at Odyssey Health Care in Decatur.
Mrs. Brown was a native of Jefferson County, but had lived in Dekalb County several years. She was a member of Greater St. Matthews A.M.E. Church and served as a missionary. She was also a member of the Zion Wheel Society and the Lone Star Society. She received her education in the Jefferson County School System.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. at Greater St. Matthew A.M.E. Church in Louisville, with Rev. Phillip Broomfield officiating, Rev. James Days, Rev. Abraham Gibbons and Rev. Charles Holloway assisting. Internment followed in the Louisville society cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband Oliver “Bo” Brown Sr.
Survivors include four children, Oliver (Lyvon) Brown Jr. and Charlie (Dessie) Brown of Louisville, Betsy Ann (Milton) Parker of Decatur and Connie Choates of Clarkston; brother James (Cora) Heggs of Louisville, Charlie (Nina) Heggs of Haines City, Fla. and Alfred Chines of Hillside, N.J.; aunt, Claudia Cantlow of Atlanta; uncle, Joe (Julie) Heggs Sr. of Macon; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

Mrs. Johnnie Walden Dixon
Mrs. Johnnie Walden Dixon, 91, wife of the late Mr. Allen Dixon, entered into rest Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at University Hospital, Augusta.
Mrs. Dixon was a native of Glascock County and a member of the First Congregational Methodist Church in Augusta.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church, with Rev. Scott Moffitt officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Mr. James Allen Dixon and his wife, Diane and Ronnie William Dixon and his wife, Cheryl, both of Wrens; three grandchildren, Allen Dixon, Amy Kershner and Tracie Long; five great-grandchildren, Trisha, Dustin, Noah, Nicholas and Devin; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Donald Long, Allen Dixon, Richard Kershner, Glen Gordy, Jay Dixon and Frank Gordy.

Mr. Charles “Steve” Fowler
Mr. Charles “Steve” Fowler, 60, passed away at his residence on Sept. 16, 2007.
Mr. Fowler was a native of Union Point. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Fowler Sr., Union Point. He was a veteran of Vietnam having served in the Navy and also the National Guard, retiring after more than 30 years of service. He retired from CSX Railroad System after 34 years of service.
Services were held at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel, Eatonton, on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007 at 3 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; children, Eileen (Lee) Duffie of Mitchell, Chris and Jessica Hooberry, of Monticello, Jennifer and Scott Allen, Monticello and Myra Prevatt of West Palm Beach, Fla., and grandchildren, Noah Duffie, Hailey Hooberry, Lexi and Preston Allen.

Dea. Jetty P. Hudson, 78, entered into rest Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at University Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, 11 a.m., at Flat Rock Baptist Church, Matthews, with Rev. Rickey G. Dent officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Survivors includ wife, Claudine Hudson; three daughters, Jettie M. Martin, Catherine Wilson, and Gloria J. Mrs. Betty Usry Miller, 73, wife of the late Mr. Ercell B. Miller, entered into rest Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at her residence.
A native of Glascock County, Mrs. Betty was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church and she was the Judge of the Glascock County Probate Court for 38 years.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at Magnolia Baptist Church, with Rev. Adrian Burrell officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie M. Thompson and her husband Robbie of Stone Mountain and Donna M. Bright of Sparta, Tenn.; two sisters, Irma (Polly) McCorkle and her husband Rudy of Gibson and Edith Vines of Camilla; one brother, Joe Dean Usry and his wife Joann of Gibson; a special friend of the family, Sue Latimer of Mitchell; three grandchildren, Rachelle Holly Robinson, Leslie Thompson See and Tiffany Marie Bright; four great-grandchildren, Robert Shayne Robinson, Michael Anthony Robinson, Hunter Zander Fallow, and Rainy Jocelyn Fallow. Mrs. Bernice “Nook” Kilpatrick, 76, of 1164 Sandy Lane, Louisville, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at Trinity Hospital in Augusta.
Mrs. Kilpatrick is the daughter of the late Moses and Annie Willie Thomas. She was the widow of the late Eddie Kilpatrick. “Nook” was a member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church Louisville and a member of the Spring Bethel Benevolent Society.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept, 29, at 11 a.m. at the Spring Bethel AME Church and Spring Bethel Benevolent Society Cemetery.
She is survived by her children: Juanita (Tom Albert) Cunningham, Inerbell (Herman) Williams, Joe Willie (Alice) Smith, Miller (Norma) Smith of Ft. Mrs. Frances Hall Poole
Mrs. Frances Hall Poole, 81, of Louisville, wife of Mr. Roy Poole died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007.
Mrs. Poole, a native of Wadley, was a daughter of the late Charlie and Marie Jones Hall. Mrs. Poole has been a member of Louisville Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church since 1951, where she served in many capacities. She was a member of the Eastern Star where she was a past Worthy Matron. She also participated in a bridge club and coffee club. Mrs. Poole worked as a bookkeeper for Louisville Drug, as an employee of the Georgia Department of Labor and as an employee of the Jefferson County Board of Education.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, in the Louisville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Doug White and Rev. Beau Taylor officiating. Burial followed in the Jefferson County Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Poole was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson Ryan Poole.
Survivors include her husband Robert Roy Poole Sr. of Louisville; three children, Robert (Rhetta) Roy Poole Jr. of Athens, Vicki (Eugene) Poole Smith of Louisville, and Rodney (Jan) E. Poole of Statesboro; sister Betty Ann Hickson Greiner of Buford, five grandchildren, Kellie (Jeff) Smith Frachiseur, Karol (Allen) Smith Blakenship, Eric (Tavela) Poole, Bradford Poole and Madison Poole; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
