Mr. William H. Thomas
Mr. William H. Thomas, of Brooklyn, N.Y., entered into eternal rest on Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, in Brooklyn, N.Y.
His funeral was held on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. at the Pineola Church of God in Wadley, with Elder Ronnie Harden officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Clovia Thomas, Brooklyn, N.Y.; three daughters, Rochell (James) Rose, Jr., Bennettsville, S.C. and Tamara Thomas and Shantell Thomas, Brooklyn, N.Y.; his mother, Hattie Spann Elmore, Wadley; three sisters, Min. Lucille (Carl) Sutherland, Singapore, Asia, Tina Elmore, San Jose, Calif., and Josephine Graham, Tulsa, Okla.; three brothers, Bucoe Elmore, Jr., Brooklyn, N.Y., Larry Geter, Staten Island, N.Y., and Jeffrey (Marie) Geter, East Elmhurst, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Pallbearers were nephews and cousins.
Hudson Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Ray Walden
Mr. Ray Walden, 70, of Augusta, entered into rest on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at the Veterans Administration Hospital.
Mr. Walden was the son of the late Macon and Lucy Swint Walden Sr. He was a native of Gibson and had made Augusta his home all of his adult life. Mr. Walden had served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Fleming Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors with the Reverend Billy Atkins officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Walden was preceded in death by his siblings, Tunnie Walden, Mildred Jenkins and Johnny Anderson.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Mary Orander Walden of Augusta; his sons, Royce Blackston (Susan) of Martinez and Joel Walden of Augusta; daughter, Lisa Harris (Greg) of Evans; brothers, Reverend Herman Walden and Reverend Therman Walden both of Hephzibah, Macon Walden Jr. of Louisville, and Bennie Walden of Gibson; sisters, Ruth Searcy of Straughn, Ind., Frankie Lamb and Mary Huff both of Augusta; grandchildren, Angela Blackston, Elaine Blackston, Brittany Blackston, Gil Harris, Abigail Harris and Isabella Carter.
Pallbearers were Scott and Taddy Widener, Walter Lancaster, Vance and Brandon Anderson, and John Woods.
Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors were in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Brenda Moss Williams
Services for Mrs. Brenda Moss Williams, age 53, of Warrenton, were held on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the House of God the House of Prayer for all Nations, Inc., Mitchell, with the Pastor Bishop Orlando Nolley officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmie Williams, Warrenton; three children, Sheena Moss, Stephanie Moss and Corey (Rhoda) Moss; 10 brothers and sisters, 11 grandchildren, a granddaughter reared as her own, Tyon Williams, and a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends, and a friend she considered as a daughter, Yvonka Calhoun.

Mr. Marvin H. "Buddy" Bounds Jr.
Mr. Marvin H. “Buddy” Bounds Jr., 50, of Louisville passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at Old Capitol Inn in Louisville.
Funeral services were private.
Survivors include his son, Michael Bounds; daughter, Elizabeth Bounds; sisters, Linda Wiese and Sandra Carter; and brother, Jack Bounds.

Mrs. Christine Dye Cook
Mrs. Christine Dye Cook, 92, of Greenwood, S.C., died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at Hospice House.
Born in Avera, she was a daughter of the late Bunyan Alexander and Brinie Daniel Dye. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Tabernacle.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Weston Rhodes and her second husband Cotton Cook.
Graveside services for Mrs. Cook were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Avera, with the Rev. Randy Ouzts and the Rev. Ted Williams officiating.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara R. Humphrey of Greenwood and Charlotte Easler and her husband, Joe, of Grovetown; four sisters, Juanita Amerson of Greenwood, Judy Parrish of Edgefield, Elanora Cooper of Jacksonville, Fla., and Myrtle Farr of Griffin; a brother, Harold Dye of Augusta; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to Hospice House, HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, S.C., 29646 or to Trinity Baptist Tabernacle, 910 Sweetwater Road, Greenwood, S.C., 29646.

Mr. Pete Dnistran
Mr. Pete Dnistran, 89, of Wrens entered into rest Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at Trinity Hospital.
Mr. Dnistran was a U.S. Navy veteran and had served in World War II.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Revs. Joe Walden and Race Lariscy officiating. Burial followed in the Wrens City Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife Frances W. Dnistran; a brother; Joseph Dnistran, Brockport, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1899 Central Avenue, Augusta, Georgia, 30904.

Ms. Jacquelyn Jones English
Ms. Jacquelyn Jones English, of Gibson, died on Oct. 7, 2007, at her residence in Gibson from health complications.
Ms. English retired from the Downtown V.A. after 20 years of service. Ms. English had been a member of Pine View Baptist Church for 13 years and a member of the American Cancer Society. She was the daughter of the late Mary W. Jones.
Memorial services for Ms. English were held at Pine View Baptist Church, Davis Road, Martinez, on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at 2 p.m. Rev. Michael Davenport officiated.
Survivors include her daughter, Cassandra (Mitchell) Griffith of Augusta; and grandmother to her granddaughter, Evangeline Griffith; Aunt Marjorie Wilcher, Uncle Smith Wilcher, Aunt Edna Wilcher, Uncle Patrick Cain, Aunt Carrie Wilcher, Elaine Wilcher, Sandra Mancussi, Alexandra Mancussi, Patricia Cain, Patrick Willingham; and many friends. She also leaves behind three friends, Ms. Janice Yarborogh, Mitchell, Mrs. Elizabeth Nipper, Eatonton, and Mrs. Victoria Ogden, Evans; and her Leah, her Jack Russell/Terrier mix.

Mrs. Eula Mae Frierson, of Wrens, entered into rest on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2007, at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at the Ways Grove Baptist Church Stellaville at 2 p.m. with the Rev. J. L. McCullough III, pastor, officiating.
Survivors include five children, Carolyn, Maria, James, Anthony, and Gary; siblings, Dorothy Mathis, George Ann Beasley, Eleanor Ferguson, Mattie Rowe, Freddie Berry, George Berry, Jr., and Steve Berry; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Montgomery
Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Montgomery, 79, of Warrenton died Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, in the Warrenton Health and Rehab.
Mrs. Montgomery was born April, 27, 1928. She was a native of Petersburg, Va., but lived in Richmond, Va. and Thomson most of her life. Mrs. Montgomery was a bookkeeper and a homemaker. She is the widow of Mr. Johnny Montgomery. She was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Garvin officiating. Burial was in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include her two sisters, Barbara A. Instasi, Gibson, and Frances E. Hollins, Ellenton, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Thomas "Mute" Hudson
Funeral service for Mr. Thomas “Mute “ Hudson, age 57, Wrens, was held Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at the Square Building, Wrens, at 2 p.m. with the Minister Tommy Allen officiating. Interment was in the Stone Springfield A.M.E. Church cemetery. Repast was in the Wrens Community Center.
Survivors include his mother, Ruby E. Hudson; two brothers, Theotis (Josephine) Hudson Jr., Wrens, and Johnny (Alicia) Hudson, Macon; two sisters, Mattie Robinson, Christine (James) Allen, all of Augusta; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mr. Gene Ray Keenan
Mr. Gene Ray Keenan entered into rest on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, Beech Island, S.C.
Mr. Keenan was born in Warrenville, S.C. to the late Morgan and Minnie Wood Keenan. He worked for the Iron Workers Local # 709 with 18 years of service. Gene Ray was a member of the N.B.H.A. Barrel Racers Association and he rode motorcycles. He attended Midland Valley First Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral services were on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at 3 p.m. in the Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Mike McAdory and Wayne Cheselka officiating. Interment followed in Langley Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin Keenan, Ben Edward Woodward and Julian Woodward.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Hunley Keenan; a daughter, Melissa Davenport, Martinez; two stepchildren, Ashlee Arrington (Brad), Stapleton, and John Russell, Avera; four sisters, Margaret Odom (Herbert), Warrenville, S.C., Peggy Hicks (Steve), Bath, S.C., Magdeline Widener (Goldie), Langley, S.C., and Mary Lee Opalewski (Daryl), Clearwater, S.C.; four brothers, Melvin Keenan (Betty), Warrenville, S.C., M. D. Keenan (Katheryn), Langley, S.C., and James Woodward (Nettie), and Harold Woodward, all of Windsor, S.C.; five grandchildren, Blake Bratcher, Sheena Davenport, Sumer Arrington, Camlyn Arrington and Paris Russell.

Mrs. Mary Ellen Templeton McDonald
Mrs. Mary Ellen Templeton McDonald, 87, of Matthews entered into rest Oct. 17, 2007, at her residence.
Mrs. McDonald was a member of Wrens Church of God, where she taught Sunday School Class for 40 and plus years, retired from Stapleton Garment Company. She was the wife of the late Walter A. Templeton Sr. and her second husband Lamar McDonald Sr. and the daughter of the late Daniel and Lillie Mae Arrington.
Funeral services were Saturday Oct, 20, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Wrens Church of God, with Dr. James Shope, Rev. Roy White and Rev. Harlon Noles officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Mrs. McDonald was preceded in death by brothers, Robert R. Arrington and James Arrington.
Survivors include her children, Dorothy Templeton (Wayne) Howell, Martinez, Ruth Templeton (Tony) Wren, Wrens, Carolyn Templeton (Roy) Lee, Knoxville, Tenn., Walter (Cherlyn) Templeton Jr., Matthews, John (Roberta) Templeton Sr., Wrens, Shirley Templeton (Andy) Russell, Matthews, Ronnie (Vickie) Templeton, Louisville; four brothers, John Arrington, Berry Arrington, Marion (Bud) Arrington and Dan Arrington; three sisters, Sara A. Wasden, Mildred A. Ashby and Helen A. Odom; 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Key Murphy
Mrs. Mary Key Murphy, 71, entered into rest on Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at her residence.
Mrs. Murphy was a life long resident of Augusta and had attended Flowing Wells Holiness Church.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at Platt’s Funeral Home Chapel on Crawford Avenue with the Rev. Eddie Renew officiating. Interment followed in Westview Cemetery.
Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her husband the late James Murphy and her parents, Ollie and Lorene Key, and also her son, Larry Whitaker.
Survivors include her two daughters, Donna Griffin of Grovetown, and Cindy Eskew of Augusta; her two brothers, Ollie A. Key Jr. and Robert L. Key Sr. both of Keysville; her two sisters, Dell Smith of Elberton, and Diane Randolph of Augusta; her eight grandchildren, Stephanie Judy, Rachel Matthews, Heather Chancey, Larry Howell, Brandon Judy, Wayne Griffin, Michelle Griffin and Kyle Griffin, and also her six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Clifford Roye, Robert Matthews, Glen Randolph, Jerry Griffin, Greg Randolph and Ronaldo Cardona.
