Mrs. Michelle Heath Simpson, 65, of Wrens entered into rest on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Doctors Hospital.
Mrs. Simpson was born in Charleston, S.C., and was a homemaker.
Graveside services were held on Friday, April 2, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Westover Memorial Park, with Rev. Dewain French officiating.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Brice Heath and Edith Adelaide Heath.
Survivors include husband, Roy Simpson, Wrens; five sons, Samuel R. Simpson (Pat), Grovetown, Steven L. Simpson (Susan), Wrens, Heath Reynolds, Martinez, Brice Reynolds (T.C.), Leah, and Pat Reynolds (Mellissa), Grovetown; three daughters, Karen Hickman (Ellis), Martinez, Angelia Drake, California, and Beth Pentom, Kentucky; sister, Frandith Oliver, Augusta; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Louie F. Williford
Mr. Louie F. Williford, 65, of Dearing entered into rest on Friday, April 2, 2010, at the VA Medical Center in Augusta.
Mr. Williford was a native of Glascock County, but had lived in Dearing for many years. He was a retired supervisor at Uniroyal and a carpenter. He was an Army veteran, having served two tours in Vietnam.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Jason Burton officiating.
Survivors include his five sisters, Geraldine Muns, Dearing, Hazel Lott, Harlem, Rachel Roberts, Lakeland, Fla., Connie Coffman, Jefferson, and Dianne James, Thomson; brother, Larry Williford, Winder; and fiancé, Wendy Hill, Dearing.

Mr. George D. Allen, 82, of Evans entered into rest on Monday, March 15, 2010, at University Hospital, Augusta.
A native of Glascock County, he was an army veteran, a member of the Christian Advent Church in Augusta, and retired from the Civil Service at Fort Gordon.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church, with Rev. Al Kurtz officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nora Hawkins Allen; and a sister, Mary Emma Williams.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mary Bessie Mathis Allen of Leah; five sisters, Kathleen Reese of Gibson, Ester Thompson of Macon, Willie Bell Reese of Thomson, Frankie Edwards of White Plains, and Zylphia Reese of Gibson; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Tommy Thompson, Terry Thompson, Charles Thompson, Wynn Cox, Kim Williams and Wayne Mathis.

Rev. Joseph Coleman “J.C.” Farrington Jr.
Rev. Joseph Coleman “J.C.” Farrington Jr. of Bartow entered into rest on Saturday, March 13, 2010.
Rev. Farrington was a Baptist minister for more than 40 years. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Auburn University, a master of arts in psychology from Georgia College and State University, and a doctor of education degree in counseling from Auburn University. While serving several churches over the span of three decades, he provided counseling services both privately and through institutional sources. His early interest in flying ultimately led to private, commercial and instructor certifications. In addition to recreational flying, Rev. Farrington served in the Civil Air Patrol in middle Georgia during the 1970s and was Chief Flight Instructor in the Professional Flight Management Program at Auburn. During his time in Auburn, he was also an adjunct professor in the School of Education. Having lived in central Alabama and middle Georgia for most of their careers, he and his wife, Gerry, moved to Louisville and purchased a working cattle farm there in 1994. After his retirement from active church and counseling ministry, he began a ministry through the Fuller Center for Housing -- Jefferson County, which included putting his skills to use in hands-on building. He was a member of Shekinah Baptist Church in Louisville.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Louisville United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Moxley Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph C. and Mary A. Salter Farrington Sr.; and grandchild, Claudia Pezzino.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Gerry Brett; three daughters, Judy Farrington Aust of Atlanta, Evelyn Farrington Perry of Gainesville, and Pauline Farrington Pezzino of Chattanooga, Tenn.; four grandchildren, John Coleman Pezzino, Amanda and Sarah Perry, and Owen Aust; two sisters, Jean Johnson and Diane Morgan; brother, Woodrow Farrington, all of Alabama; and several nieces nephews and cousins.

Mr. Clarence E. Ganus Jr.
Mr. Clarence E. Ganus Jr., 71, of Waynesboro entered into rest on Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta.
Born on Jan. 18, 1939, in Matthews, Mr. Ganus was a son of the late Clarence E. Ganus Sr. and Rosa Mae Stewart Ganus. Mr. Ganus was a veteran of the United States Army having served from January 1962 to January 1964 in Panama. He attained the rank of Specialist 4th Class, and served in the JAG office while in Panama. He retired from Augusta Newsprint Company, where he worked as a lab technician for 35 years. Mr. Ganus was a member of Rosemont Heights Baptist Church, and was a member of the Faith Sunday School Class.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Rosemont Heights Baptist Church, with Rev. Keith Alderman officiating. Interment followed at Westview Cemetery, Augusta.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepdaughter, Sheila Wade Steverson; brothers, James Wright Ganus and Robert O. Ganus; and his sister, Bebe Ann Ganus.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Beneteau Ganus; and two stepsons, Shawn G. Wade and Stephen E. Wade, both of Hopewell, Va.
Pallbearers were William Carter, Steve Mason, Tom Rider, Ken English, Edwin Stephens and Jerry Richardson.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Faith Sunday School Class.

Miss Mary Savannah McTier
Miss Mary Savannah McTier, 92, of Stapleton entered into rest on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the Keysville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.
Miss McTier was born in Warren County in 1917, and was one of 16 children born to John David McTier and Emma Matilda McGahee McTier. She resided in Atlanta until her retirement from bookkeeping and lived the remainder of her years in Augusta.
Funeral services were held at Reedy Creek Baptist Church, Stapleton, on Monday, March 22, 2010, at 3 p.m., with Rev. Scott McKinney officiating. Internment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her sister, Geneva Belle McTier; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were her nephews.

Mr. Scotty Mathis “Scott LaRoc”

Mr. J. Douglas “Doug” Rabun
Mr. J. Douglas “Doug” Rabun, 84, of Augusta entered into rest on Friday, March 19, 2010, at Golden Living Center.
Mr. Rabun, son of the late Oliver and Mollie Cato Rabun, was born in Jefferson County. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He retired from Castleberry Foods after 35 years and was a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon Emeritus, and a member of the Crusaders Bible Class. He was a member of the Webb Lodge #166, and a former member and past president of Forest Hills Lions Club.
Memorial services were held on Monday, March 22, 2010, at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Augusta, with Dr. Greg DeLoach officiating.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy “Dot” Key Rabun; sisters-in-law, Grace Grayson of Whitwall, Tenn., Mrs. Wade H. (Pet) Key of Jackson, S.C., and Carolyn James of Augusta; nephew, Roger Jenkins of Augusta; numerous other nieces and nephews; cousin, Naomi Rabun of Augusta; and friends, Joe and Sue Converse of Augusta.

Mrs. Helen L. Sheppard Thomas
Mrs. Helen L. Sheppard Thomas, 94, entered into rest on March 15, 2010, at Jefferson Hospital.
She was a lifetime resident of Jefferson County and a member of Louisville United Methodist Church after she moved her letter from Walden’s United Methodist Church in 1945. She worked with her husband, Albert, at the family business, Thomas Brothers Service Station, for many years.
Services were held at Louisville United Methodist Church on March 17, 2010, with Rev. David Hibbert and David Boggs officiating. Interment followed in Louisville City Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Albert Thomas Sr.; her parents, Jeff and Fanny Walden Sheppard; three brothers, Harold, Cleon and Lamar Sheppard; and one granddaughter, Lisa Gail Bailey.
Survivors include four daughters, June Bailey (Jesse) of Vidette, Ann Shelby of Lubbock, Texas, Teresa Noggle (Taylor) of Lake Martin, Ala., and Fran Barrow (Denny) of Louisville; one son, Al Thomas (Patricia) of Swainsboro; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Tag Sheppard; and two sisters, Marie Williams and Judy Tanner.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Mack, Bill and Bruce Bailey, Jay and Jimmy Martin, Bert Barrow, Thom Noggle, and great-grandson, Lance Corporal Joseph Boone.

Mr. Arthur Brown of Augusta entered into rest on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. Mr. Brown, a native of Louisville, was a member of Sandvalley AME Church. Having retired from the U.S. Army as Staff Sergeant, Mr. Brown was a veteran of World War II, Korean Conflict and Viet Nam Era. He was also a former civil service employee. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Sandvalley AME Church, with Rev. Michael Ephraim Sr. officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with full military honors. Mr. George W. Craft
Mr. George W. Craft, 85, of Wrens entered into rest on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at his residence. Mr. Craft was born to the late Ellie Gordon and Franklin E. Craft in Uvalda. He served in the Navy Submarine Force. He met his wife when they both participated in a play production in Wrens. Mr. Craft was a master carpenter for large construction companies building apartments, theme parks, banks, condominiums, etc. He also owned and operated the Big Top and the Dairy Barn eating establishments. He was a member and deacon at Stapleton Baptist Church and a former deacon at Wrens Baptist. He was a Sunday School teacher, choir member, Boys’ RA leader, a former Boy Scout leader and past commander of American Legion Post 229. Graveside services were held at Wrens Memorial cemetery on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at noon, with Rev. Jerry Thompson officiating. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Craft Edwards; and brother, Harry Craft. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Gloria Norton Craft; daughter, Beverly Craft, Martinez; honorary daughter, Tanya Eulenfeld, Martinez; two brothers, Ray (Jenny) Craft, Metter, and James (Helen) Craft, Claxton; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Beth Clark Devine
Mrs. Beth Clark Devine, 69, of Louisville, entered into rest March 30, 2010, at University Hospital in Augusta. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2010, in the Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in the Stapleton First Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Jerry Clark, Joel Clark, Jay Simons, Wendell Davis, Robert Clements and Thomas Dye. A native of Jefferson County, Devine was a daughter of the late A.V. and Ruth Logue Clark. She spent her career as a lifelong educator having spent 20 years in the civil service arena at Fort McClellan in Anniston, Ala., and the Charleston Naval Base in Charleston, S.C. She retired from teaching from the Jefferson County School System and spent her remaining 15 years as a resident of Louisville where she was active with the American Cancer Society and the Red Hat Society. She was preceeded in death by her parents; a brother, Willis Logue Clark; and a nephew, Christopher Logue Clark Survivors include two sons, Mathew Patrick (Brandi) Devine of Newnan, and Timothy Clark Devine of Augusta; sister, June (Ralph) Simons of Augusta; sister-in-law, Sylvia (Robert) Clements of Louisville; and a grandson, Mathew Parrish Devine, Newnan; three nephews and a niece. Mr. Jimmie Harold Faglier
Mr. Jimmie Harold Faglier, 80, of Warrenton entered into rest on March 28, 2010, at his residence. Mr. Faglier was a native of Avera, and was the son of the late Jimmy Faglier and the late Ora Mae Dixon Faglier. He had retired as the Warren County Tax Commissioner after 18 years of service. Mr. Faglier also worked as staff superintendent for Independent Life Insurance Company for many years. He served as the Golf Pro at the Thomson Country Club and the Warrenton Country Club during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Mr. Faglier was also a member of First Baptist Church of Warrenton and the Senior Men’s Sunday School Class. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Gary Hadden and Rev. Mike Dann officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Avera.
