Mr. Charles Sanders
Mr. Charles Sanders of Hephzibah entered into rest on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, in Hephzibah.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Hudson Mortuary Chapel, with Elder Ronnie Harden officiating. Burial was in the San Clair Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Sadie Tennyson Sanders, Burlington, N.J.; three children, Rosie M. Sanders and Napoleon Sanders, Trenton, N.J., and Ronnie C. Sanders, Gary, Ind.; three granddaughters, Brittany, Julia and Faye-Lynn, Trenton, N.J.; two grandsons, Naje, Baltimore, Md., and Zanie, Gary, Ind.; three sisters, Alice Barge, New Jersey, Marion White, Wadley, and Gaynell Sanders, Louisville; two brothers, Roy (Patricia) Sanders, Midville, and Wayne Sanders, Swainsboro; three uncles, two aunts, eight sisters-in-law, seven brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Will Tennyson, Bobby Tennyson, Patrick Tennyson, Tarvarus Tennyson and other nephews.

Mr. William Robert “Bobby” Smith
Mr. William Robert “Bobby” Smith, 69, of Louisville entered into rest on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010.
A native of Savannah, Mr. Smith was a son of the late Willie Bob and Mary Anglin Smith. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving for more than 20 years. He was a log truck driver and a member of Louisville Church of God.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at Louisville Church of God, with Rev. David Severance officiating. Burial followed in the family plot in the Colemans Chapel cemetery in Wadley, with full military honors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Deborah Woodside Smith.
Survivors include a son, William Robert “Robby” Smith Jr. (Ana) of Hawthorne, Calif.; daughters, Rebecca Pauley (David) of Sarasota, Fla., Janelle Alexander of Williston, Fla., and Jeanette Herrington (Sam) of Thomson; brother, Walter Smith (Janice) of Wadley; sister, Elizabeth Davis (Herbert) of Louisville; 11 grandchildren, Tara, Jessica, Leslie, Jonathon, Phillip, Dalton, Laurence, Rebecca, Trevor, Eamilee and Taylor; several nieces, nephews, cousins and church family at Louisville Church of God.
Pallbearers were nephews, Ricky Davis, Gerald Davis, Rocky Gilmore, Stony Gilmore, Bryan Smith and Jeff Staffard.

Mrs. Beatrice Sheffield
Mrs. Beatrice Sheffield, 80, of Thomson entered into rest on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010.
Mrs. Sheffield was born in Avera, and lived in Thomson most of her life. She was retired from Southern Bell and civil service from Fort Gordon. Mrs. Sheffield was also a Baptist by faith.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Larron Pilgrim and Rev. Gemmell Johnson officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Zion cemetery in Glascock County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Sheffield.
Survivors include her children, Lee Renfroe, Hephzibah, and Joy Leek, Appling; grandsons, Christopher Renfroe and Richard Brown; great-grandson, Jackson Cody Lee Renfroe; and niece, Pat Lonegran.

Mrs. Sadie Williford
Mrs. Sadie Williford of Mitchell entered into rest on Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Born to the late Claudia Mae McCoy Phillips and the late Radford J. Phillips, Mrs. Williford was a native of Glascock County, a retired beautician, and a member of the LDS Chapel in Harlem.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, at 11 a.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Bishop Mark Anderson officiating. Interment followed at the LDS cemetery in Edgehill.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Joe Gilbert Phillips and James Phillips; and two sisters, Virginia Byrd and Miriam Landry.
Survivors include her husband, Willie Williford Jr.; two daughters, Pat and Glenda; four sisters, Mamie Lee Hymas, Betty Jo McLeod, Eulaween Barney and Lonice Goodwin; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Mr. Tony E. Williams
Mr. Tony E. Williams, 45, of Avera entered into rest on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010.
Mr. Williams was born in Alabama. He was a preacher and a member of South Haven Baptist Church.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at 4 p.m. at South Haven Baptist Church, Hephzibah.
Survivors include his wife, Mary P. Williams; two daughters, Jennifer and Elizabeth Williams; two brothers, David Williams and Stephen James; mother, Barbara James; and grandmother, Pauline DeLaigle.

Miss Cassandra Elease Roberts
Miss Cassandra Elease Roberts, 45, of Stapleton entered into rest on Aug. 14, 2010, at her residence.
Miss Roberts was a 1983 graduate of Wrens High School. Following graduation she moved to California. There she attended San Francisco State University and received a bachelor of arts degree. She majored in liberal studies, with an emphasis in social science. She earned an associate of arts degree with a concentration in library technology from the City College of San Francisco in May 1986. She later attended the University of California Berkley and graduate with a masters degree in 2004. She was a sixth and seventh grade teacher at Everett Middle School in California for 13 years and was awarded Teacher of the Year. She was a part of the Tom and Gracie family reunion and was the founder of The Home Award School Program for Kids from 1991-2008. Earlier in life she became a member of Bethlehem AME Church, Avera.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at Springfield AME Church, Stapleton, with Rev. Christopher Durden officiating and Rev. Michael Ephraim presiding. Interment was in the Bethlehem AME Church Cemetery, Avera.
Survivors include her parents, Jimmie and Classie Terrell Roberts; siblings, Jimmie L. Mr. Perry Young, 47, of Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of Warren County, entered into rest on Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, in Los Angeles, Calif.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, Warrenton. Rev. Michael Curry was eulogist.
Survivors include two sons, Radaed Young, Virginia, Perry Young Jr., Georgia; daughter, Shanda Kitchens, Georgia; parents, Farris and Choicey Young, Mitchell; four sisters, Patsy McCall, Alabama, Joycence Ellison, Tennessee, Loretta Swayzer, Georgia, Polly Heath, Florida; brother, Don Young, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; and other relatives.

Mrs. Lucille Guy Walden, 80, of Augusta entered into rest on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at her residence.
Mrs. Walden was born on Aug. 7, 1930, in Gibson. She was a longtime Augusta resident and was a member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, in the Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel, with Rev. Brian LaFavor officiating. Interment followed at Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Roy Walden; son, Aaron “Benny” Walden; parents, Ira C. Guy and Esther Swint Guy; brothers, Hezekia “Hezzie” Guy (Annie), George “Bud” Guy, Cullen Guy and John Guy; sisters, Louise Guy Poole (Ernest), Virginia Guy Chalker (Bill) and Jimmy Kelly.

Mr. John Thomas Watson Jr.
Mr. John Thomas Watson Jr., 84, of Louisville entered into rest on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010, at Jefferson Hospital.
A native of Memphis, Tenn., Mr. Watson was a son of John T. Watson Sr. and Mary Estes Watson. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, a World War II Navy veteran, a self employed insurance agent, and a member of the Louisville Associate Reform Presbyterian Church for more than 40 years.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, at Louisville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Doug White officiating. Burial followed in the Louisville City Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Emily Polhill Watson of Louisville; daughters, Polly (Gary) Cowart of Evans, and Hunter (Eric) Cardinal of Taylors, S.C.; son, John Thomas “Tom” (Sonya) Watson III of Louisville; sister, Mary Jean McCreary of Augusta; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ray Jenkins Smith
Mr. Ray Jenkins Smith, 80, entered into rest on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at his residence.
A native of York, S.C., Mr. Smith was a son of the late Joseph Davis Smith and Nannie Marie Jenkins Smith. He served in the U.S. Army for 27 years and retired from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department after 17 years as chief jailer. Mr. Smith was a former member and past president of the Wrens Lions Club and was of the Presbyterian faith.
Graveside services with full military honors were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, in the Eastbrook cemetery in Swainsboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph D. Smith and Harold B. Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Minter Smith of Louisville; daughters, Darla (Marty) Harris of Swainsboro, and Lisa Smith of Louisville; three grandchildren, Daniel Boatright of Sandersville, Carla Landrum Robinson of Wrens, and Amanda Harris of Swainsboro; four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Sara Prescott Thigpen of Augusta entered into rest on Monday, Aug. 9, 2010.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, with Rev. Ed Stark officiating.
Mrs. Thigpen was born in Jefferson County on June 7, 1920. She was the eldest of 11 children of the late Elbert and Ola (Stewart) Prescott. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Glenn Hills Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Felton Thigpen.
Survivors include her son, Gary (Lynn) Thigpen; daughter, Ginny (Harold) Hughes; grandchildren, Stacey Hughes (Sidney) Dennis, Ashley Thigpen (Craig) Godwin and Brian Thigpen; great-grandchildren, Bradley Godwin and Payton Dennis; sister, Alice Robertson; and brothers, Randall Prescott, Don Prescott and Dudley Prescott.

Mr. Williams, son of the late Rufus and Mertice Williams, was reared in Jefferson County and educated in the county schools. He was a farmer and resident of Glendale Nursing Home, Wadley.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the New Live Oak Fellowship Church, Wadley, with Dr. David Kemp officiating. Burial was in New Live Oak Fellowship Church Cemetery.
