Mary Ann Hogue Etheridge
Mrs. Mary Ann Hogue Etheridge, age 59, of Hampton, Georgia died July 11, 2007. She was born
in Atlanta to the late John Bailey Hogue. Mary Ann was a member of Berea Christian Church and had been a Registered Nurse at the Emergency Room of Emory University Hospital. She enjoyed gardening and her church.
Survivors include her husband, Roy P. “Pat” Etheridge of Hampton; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Ann and Greg Rigsby of Junction City, Georgia; granddaughter, Brittany Nicole Lopez of Junction City; mother, Addie Ruth Allen Hogue of McDonough; siblings, Peggy H. Graves of Chesapeake, Virginia, Jacqueline P. “Patty” Henderson of McDon-ough, and John Franklin Hogue of Kennesaw; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held July 13 from Berea Christian Church with Rev. David Fulton officiating. Interment Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the ALS Association of Georgia, 1955 Cliff Valley Way, Suite 116, Atlanta, GA 30329 in memory of Mary Ann. Mary Sue McGill Polk
Mrs. Mary Sue McGill Polk, age 88, of McDonough, Georgia died July 9, 2007. She was born
in Tift County, Georgia the daughter of the late James Eddie and Lola Cordelia Clegg McGill. She taught school in Chula and Omega and retired from the Henry County Board of Education, having taught for 29 years. Mrs. Polk was a life member of the McDonough First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Retired Teacher’s Association, the Sunshine Club, the Samaritan Sunday School Class, and the Ada Newnan/Bertha Bunn Circle. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling and her grandchildren. She will also be fondly remembered for her cooking and especially her Chocolate Pound Cake. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Claud Oliver “Jack” Polk in 2003, and by brothers, Millard and Harold McGill.
Survivors include her children, Wesley and Lana Polk of Columbus, Charles and Sue Polk of Jackson, and Lane Brannan of McDonough; grandchildren, Michael, David, Eric, Brian and Steven Polk, Amy Brannan, and Jill Yevick; great grandchildren, Grace Yevick, Skylar Sears, Logan, Matthew, Olivia, and Katelyn Polk; sister, Doris Jones; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Janet McGill all of Tifton; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services were held July 12 from the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Broome officiating. Interment McDonough City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the McDonough First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 151 Macon Street, McDonough, GA 30253 in memory of Mrs. Polk. Richard Lee Moore, Sr.
Richard Lee Moore, Sr., age 71, of Eatonton, Georgia, formerly of Stockbridge, died June 22, 2007. Mr. Moore loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He enjoyed coaching little league sports and supporting all the local teams, especially the Braves. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by wife, Emma Jean.
He is survived by sons, Donnie (Pennie) Moore and Ricky (Samantha), all of Stockbridge; their stepmother Paula; brother, Marvin and Opal Moore of McDonough; grandchildren, Tiffany, Matthew and Jimmy; great-grandchild Tyler; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held June 24 at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton. Condolences may be directed to Vining Ivy Hill Chapel, 105 Lower Harmony Rd. NE, Eatonton, Georgia, 31024-6022.
Eugenia Turner Price
Eugenia (Jean) Turner Price, age 88, died June 24, 2007. Mrs. Price was born
in McDonough, the daughter of the late Wade Hampton and Lavenia Daune George Turner. She graduated from McDonough High School in 1935. She attended the Draughn’s School of Commerce in Atlanta, after which she was employed by Chrysler Motors Inc. in Atlanta until 1946. She was employed by the Henry County Board of Education from 1959 to 1980. She was the secretary to the principal of Henry County High School and later the secretary to the Superintendent of Schools of Henry County. She was a lifelong member of McDonough United Methodist Church. She joined McDonough First UMC in January of 1933, and at her death Mrs. Price had been a member of that church longer than any other living member. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Samaritan Sunday School Class, and for quite a few years during her retirement she volunteered as a church office worker and was a member of the church’s Flower Ministry Team. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, Joseph P. (J.P.) Price in 2005 and her sisters and brothers, Frances Turner Stephens, Ruth Turner, Wade Hampton Turner, Jr., John Bassett Turner, and Zed Monroe Turner.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Joe Claxton of Macon; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Shirley Price of Jackson; daughter, Janis Eugenia Price of McDonough; grandchildren, Joseph Buford Claxton of Macon, Anne Claxton Krabacher and her husband Gregory John Krabacher of Bexley, Ohio; great-grandson, Aaron Joseph Krabacher of Bexley, Ohio; siblings, in-laws, and their spouses Dr. David Allen Turner and Faye Turner of Albany, Katherine Sheridan Turner of Maysville, Leola Price Durden of McDonough, Lula Mae Price Ward of Locust Grove, Dannie Sue Price Junkins and Bud Junkins of Hueyville, Alabama, Merrill and Charlotte Price of Jackson, Betty Dillard Price of Decatur; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held June 28, with Rev. Dana A. Everhart and Rev. Dr. Robert W. Brown officiating. Interment Haisten-Eastlawn Memorial Park. Those who wish may make contributions to the McDonough First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 151 Macon Street, McDonough, Georgia, 30253 or the Shingleroof Methodist Campground, 5000 Lakeridge Close, McDonough, Georgia, 30253. Louise Parker Hamilton Patton
Louise Parker Hamilton Patton, age 82, of Locust Grove, Georgia died June 25, 2007. She was born
in 1924 in Mississippi, the daughter of the late K.D. and Edna Parker Hamilton. She was a retired legal secretary; volunteered for the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary in Mississippi; and enjoyed playing golf. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Charles Wesley Patton.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pattie and Jim Covington of Locust Grove; sons and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Chris Patton of Fayetteville, Chuck Patton of Austell; grandchildren, Sean Patton, Kelly Coffey, Tim Skeen and Brandon Patton; great-grandson, Cody Patton; siblings, Joe Clay and Paula Hamilton of Meridien, Mississippi, Anna Hamilton of Montgomery, Alabama, and Sarah and John Kapcha of Auburn, New York.
Services were held June 29 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park, with Rev. John Hamilton officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Mrs. Patton. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mildred Brown Freeman
Mildred Brown Freeman, age 94, of Atlanta, Georgia died June 26, 2007. Mrs. Freeman was born
in McDonough, the daughter of the late Alexander Kelly and Willie Lee Hill Brown. She was a member of Briarcliff Baptist Church in Atlanta for over 30 years, where she taught Sunday School for Young Adults.
She is survived by her nephews, Roy Clinton Matthews, III of Cumming, LeRoy Currie Hobbs; grandnieces, Paula Fay Kosinski, and Alexa Kay Moon.
Services were held June 29 at Briarcliff Baptist Church, with Rev. Bill Bigger officiating. Interment McDonough City Cemetery. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Julie Annette Gordy
Julie Annette Gordy, age 46, of Hampton, Georgia died June 26, 2007. Ms. Gordy was born
in Atlanta, the daughter of the late Fred Nathaniel and Martha Sara Kinard Farr.
She is survived by her son, Julian Anthony Gordy; and daughter, Alicia Brook (Jeremy) Prudwick, all of Hampton; grandchildren, Max and Rylee Williams; sisters, Cindy Lambert of Foley, Alabama, Laura Hosey of McDonough; brothers, Jeff Farr of Canton and Stephen (Tony) Farr of Covington.
Services were held July 7 at Avalon Church, with Rev. Murray Edwards officiating. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Elon Mae Glass Jackson
Elon Mae Glass Jackson, age 84, of McDonough, Georgia died June 27, 2007. Mrs. Jackson was born
in 1923 in Henry County, the daughter of the late Lee Hugh and Olivia Berry Glass. She was of the Baptist faith. Her gentle smile and “I love yous” will be missed daily. May all of our days be filled with loving memories of her till we meet again. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Olin Perry Jackson.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronny and Linda Jackson of McDonough; sister, Allie B. Jarrard of Loganville; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Services were held June 29 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Johns officiating. Interment Stock-bridge United Methodist Church Cemetery. Helen Marcella Loosier Dollar
Mrs. Helen Marcella Loosier Dollar, age 59, of Stockbridge, Georgia died June 27, 2007. Marcella was born
in 1947 in Birmingham, Alabama to Marjorie Lenora Morton and the late Hoyt Neal Stinson. She worked in the radiology department at Henry Medical Center and was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include Jimmy Dollar of Stockbridge; son, Benjie Dollar of Stockbridge; mother, Marjorie McIntire of Ocala, Florida; brother, Frank Loosier of Ocala, Florida; sister, Terri Loosier of Memphis, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held July 5 from the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Chaplain Bob Griffin officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Kasydi Alana Ann Spencer
Infant Kasydi Alana Ann Spencer died July 5, 2007. Kasydi was born
July 5, 2007 the infant daughter of Vanessa and Rodney Spencer of McDonough. Kasydi was also preceded in death by a sister, Jessica Ann Folds.
Survivors are her mother and father; sisters, Jordan Folds and Madelyn Spencer of McDon-ough; grandparents are Christopher Albert of Nashville and Lofton and Glenda Spencer, Sr. of Griffin, aunts, uncles and cousins. Services were held July 11 at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
