Mr. Louis Jan Brockington of Brooklyn, N.Y., entered into rest on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, in Jamaica, N.Y. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Hudson Mortuary Chapel in Wadley, with Rev. James Jenkins officiating. Burial was in the Braddy cemetery in Bartow.
Survivors include his mother, Lillian Brockington, Bartow; one brother, Stephen (Nexelda) Brockington, Brooklyn, N.Y.; godmother, Lucille Lewis, Stapleton; one aunt, Grace Braddy, Bartow; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Fredrick Knight, Mark Braddy, Ben Tarver, Jonathan Jones, Lester Huff and C’Lester Tooks.

Mrs. Mae Bell Kitchens Chalker
Mrs. Mae Bell Kitchens Chalker, 92, of Avera entered into rest on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at the Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born to the late Sarah Jane Harden Kitchens and the late James Allen Kitchens, Mrs. Chalker was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at 2 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Chuck Kittrell officiating. Interment followed at Bethel UMC in Glascock County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Cleo Chalker Sr.
Survivors include her son, Willie Cleo Chalker Jr. (Vickie) of Warrenville, S.C.; four grandchildren, Pastor Willie Calvin Chalker (Laura), Kendell DeWayne Chalker, Elizabeth Mae Chalker and Andrew Kilpatrick Chalker; friends, Annette Hadden, Carolyn Stephens and Ginger Radford; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Bruce Boyd, Jimmy Brown, Charlie Davis, Wallace Hadden, Ed Perdue and Chester Radford.

Mr. Benny Lewis Clark
Mr. Benny Lewis Clark, 69, of Sparta entered into rest on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010.
Mr. Clark was a native and lifelong resident of Hancock County. He was the son of the late Warren Edward Clark and Edna Clark. Mr. Clark worked for J.P. Stevens, later Forstman, as a weaver. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Graveside services were held on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Culverton Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Burt Mauldin and Rev. Alan McCoy officiating.
Survivors include his sisters, Barbara (Milton) Goldman of Thomson, Lilymae Capehart, Joann (Ben) Harned and Kay Clark, all of Sandersville, and Ruthie (Randy) Sheley of Davisboro; brothers, Willie (Gwen) Clark of Milledgeville, Ed Clark, and Jerry (Mary Ann) Clark, all of Sparta; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. David Cooper
Mr. David Cooper of Augusta entered into rest on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010.
Mr. Cooper was born in Richmond County on Dec. 30, 1953, to the late Solomon and Willie Mae Abrams Cooper. He was educated in the school system in Augusta and graduated from Lucy Laney in 1972. He worked for the Savannah River Plant, various construction companies and was a mechanic.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at noon at Burnett Funeral Home Chapel, Wrens, with Rev. Major Cooper officiating and Rev. Walter Clayton eulogist. Interment was in Cooper Cemetery, Gough.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Cooper and Anthony Dean Cooper.
Survivors include his brothers, Rev. Major (Iris) Cooper of Oakland, Calif., and Solomon Cooper of Oakland, Calif.; son, David Cooper of Augusta; two nieces, Sonya Yvette Cooper of Denver, Colo., and Alice Cooper of Sacramento, Calif.; two grandnieces, Jordan Marie Cooper and Alaysha Buckingham of Sacramento, Calif.; one aunt, Allie Mae Cooper Turner of Wrens; and a host of cousins and friends.

At an early age, Willie Bell joined New Hope A.M.E. Church in Grange, Georgia.? She was a very dedicated member of the body of Christ. She was instrumental in the establishment of a few ministries. She worked diligently in various capacities throughout her years as a church mother, missionary, usher, mentor, youth minister, as well as serving on many other church committees. In her later years, she united with Christ Church of Grovetown, Georgia.
She began her formal schooling in Jefferson County Public Schools and later moved to Brooklyn, New York where she completed her education. Willie Bell had many talents. She was an entrepreneur/owner of two different restaurants. She devoted her life to helping others. After returning to Georgia from New York, she spent many years working in the medical field until her recent retirement.
Willie Bell was truly blessed to have such a loving family. Preceding her in death is one sister Dorothy Harmon. She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Lenward (Betty) Jackson of Louisville, GA, Karen Monique (Paul) Jones of Augusta, Darren Randy (Fenicia) Habersham of Douglasville, GA and Shounton (Bridget) Habersham of Cartersville, GA; three sisters, Bessie Dean Jones of Augusta, GA, Patty Beal of Clearwater, SC and Pastor Evangela (Pastor Melvin) Williams of Augusta, GA; five brothers, Eddie E. Born to the late Ada Bell Usry Newsome and the late Claude E. Newsome, Mrs. Kelley was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and a member of Stapleton Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at 2 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jerry Thompson officiating. Interment followed in the Stapleton Baptist Church Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David W. Kelley Sr.; and son, David W. Kelley Jr.

Mrs. Susie J. “Nita” Lamb, 83, of Wadley, entered into rest on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at University Hospital in Augusta.
Mrs. Lamb was a native and lifelong resident of Jefferson County. She graduated from Bartow High School. She was a homemaker, was a member at St. John’s United Methodist Church, where she held many positions and was also the church “mother.”
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ray Garren, Rev. Pat Holbert, Rev. Kenneth Watkins and Rev. Eugene Cochran officiating. Interment followed in Bethany Cemetery, Wadley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Ellis Dudley and Anna Leigh Johnson; all of her siblings; and a grandson, Matt Ackron.

Prophetess Ann Maree Lockhart-Dixon entered into rest on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010.
Mrs. Lockhart-Dixon was born in Avera on June 25, 1969, to Willie A. Lockhart Sr. and Virginia B. Lockhart. Being in church all her life, she finished her course fulfilling the office of a prophetess at New Day Worship Center in Wrens.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at 3 p.m. at World of Life Ministries, Wrens, with Apostle Willie A. Lockhart Jr. officiating.

Mrs. Rollins was a native of Jefferson County, a member of Thankful Baptist Church, a Deaconess and sang in the church choir for several years as an alto.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at noon at Thankful Baptist Church, with Rev. Christopher J. Waters officiating and Minister Adolph Hollins III as eulogist. Burial was in Walker Memorial Park.

Mrs. Elva Williams Sheppard, 89, of Louisville entered into rest on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at her residence.
Born to the late Bessie Swann Williams and the late Harmon Williams, Mrs. Sheppard was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. She was a past member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, changing her membership to Walden UMC in 1941 upon her marriage.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at 3 p.m. at Waldens United Methodist Church, with Rev. David Boggs and Rev. Tommy Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the family plot in the church cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Lamar “Fuzz” Sheppard; two sisters, Asalee McTier and Reba Wren; and her brother, Roy Williams.
Survivors include her four children, Joe Sheppard (Grace) of Wadley, Linda S. Simmons (Rick) of Hephzibah, Betsy S. Dunbar (Don) of Louisville, and Susan S. Gray (Barry) of Louisville; seven grandchildren, Candice Hadden, Tim Smith, Michael Smith, David Cowan, Amy Travelstead, Julie Dunbar and Hardy Gray; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her church family and many friends.
