Mr. John Henry Frazier
Mr. John Henry Frazier of Louisville entered into rest on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at his residence.
Mr. Frazier was born on March 21, 1942, in Burke County to the late Willie Louis Cuyler and Lena Frazier. He was a member of Peel Grove Baptist Church, and received his education in the Burke County School System.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at Garrer Funeral Home Chapel, Louisville, with Rev. Eugene Walden officiating. Interment was in the Jordan Place Cemetery.
Survivors include his children, Dorothy (Carl) Stokes of Keysville, Vera Nelson of Orlando, Fla., Coretta Carter of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Tonya Dodson of Macon, Tyrone (Annie) Cooper of Lousiville, and John H. Frazier of Augusta; sisters, Willie M. Thomas and Johnnie M. Wright, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Veria Dent of Louisville, Lucille Ervin of Wyanesboro, Sallie (Moe) Williams of Wadley, Delois Kelly and Estella (Billy) Elijah of Midville, Jean Burke Harvey of Pompano Beach, Fla., Willie Mae Cuyler of Lauderhill, Fla., Debra Jefferies of Hephzibah, and Gloria (George) Gaston of Grovetown; brothers, Willie Earnest Cuyler of Long Beach, Calif., Grady Cuyler of Bellglade, Fla., Freddie Cuyler of Lauderhill, Fla., and Henry Sanders of Wadley; stepchildren, Charlotte (Anthony) Bell, Benjamin (Shelia) Wheeler of Augusta, and Amos Jackson of Louisville; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mrs. Helen Gibbons Gardner
Mrs. Helen Gibbons Gardner of Louisville entered into rest on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at her residence.
Mrs. Gardner was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Mattie Sinquefield Gibbons and wife of the late Robert Gardner. She was a member of Gordon Grove Baptist Church, where she was treasurer of the Usher Board for more than 60 years. She was also secretary of the Missionary Department. She received her education in the Jefferson County School System.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at Gordon Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Allen Webb officiating, Rev. Bennie Brinson presiding, and Rev. Walter Holmes Sr. and Rev. Wallace Mason assisting. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Lessie Porter of Savannah, Jasper (Amy) Gardner, Argie Gardner and Merevine Gardner, all of Louisville, and Pauline Gardner of Atlanta; grandchildren, Michael (Chernesia) Jackson, Virginia Porter, Constantine Johnson, Jessica Gardner, Theresa Gardner and Marcie Gardner; nephews, Archie Adkins (Juanita), Joe (Neloise) Adkins Jr., Henry Adkins, Carl Gibbons, Henry Lewis Gibbons, and Tommy Lee Thompson; nieces, Lillie Bell Woods, Mattie West, Agnes Baskins, Betty Habersham, Sarah Gardner and Donnel Gibbons; and other cousins and friends.

Mr. William Wesley “Pop” Gilmore
Mr. William Wesley “Pop” Gilmore, 88, of Sandersville entered into rest on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010.
Mr. Gilmore was born in Hancock County, the son of the late Robert Wiley Gilmore and the late Anna Reid Walker Gilmore. He was widely known during the 1940s, 50s and 60s as the drummer for the Dixie Katz Band. He was a retired auto mechanic, formerly working for Riner Radiator and Battery, Smith-Sheppard, Irwin Hardware and NAPA Auto Parts, and working part-time into his early 80’s. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Graveside services were held on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Dale Andrews officiating.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Hodges Gilmore; and son-in-law, John Frederick.
Survivors include his daughters, Pam G. Frederick, Donna G. Turner (Paul) and Lisa G. Taylor (Michael), all of Sandersville; grandchildren, Katheryn F. Durden (Brandon), Ashely Turner, Anna T. Brookins and J.T. Frederick; great-grandchildren, Kelby Turner, Gracee Brookins and Laynee Brookins; and sisters, Betty G. Godowns of Wrens, and Martha G. Eskew and Lillie G. Tanner, both of Sandersville.

Mr. John Thomas Laster
Mr. John Thomas Laster, 74, of Mitchell entered into rest on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Laster a native and lifelong resident of Glascock County, was the son of the late W. T. and Lizzie Mae Daniel Laster. He was a retired farmer and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at Fellowship Baptist Church of Gibson, with Rev. Tommy Harwell officiating. Burial followed in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Glascock County.
Survivors include cousins, Helen Gray and Judy (Wayne) McDonald, both of Gibson, Ruby Harrison and Maxie Riley, both of Macon, and Julia Hiers of Doriun; friends, Connie Kitchens-Jackson, Mike and Kathy Lyons and Clint Watkins, all of Gibson.

Mrs. Myrtle Napier Mayo
Mrs. Myrtle Napier Mayo, 74, of Spring Valley, Huntington, W.Va., entered into rest on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington.
Mrs. Mayo was born Nov. 18, 1935, at Ferguson Branch, Wayne County, W.Va. She is the daughter of the late Brady and Dovie Damron Napier.
Funeral services were held at Prince of Peace Church, Huntington, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010. Burial followed at Dock’s Creek Cemetery, Kenova, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jerry Mayo; and two daughters, Lorna Opachick and Julia Ann Mayo.
Survivors include four daughters, Gerry (Ronnie) Thompson of Huntington, Tammy (James) Votaw of Stellaville, Bonnie (Jeff) Hamm of Kenova, W.Va., and Nola (Clifford) Jones of Georgia; son-in-law, William Opachick; 13 grandchildren, Shane Phillips of Arizona, Nicholas Opachick, Dawn Opachick, Michelle Copley, Sherry Hall, Joshua Thompson of Huntington, Ashley Mattox, Bryan Hamm, Caleb Hamm of Kenova, Veronika Price, Wesley Jones, Bradley Jones, Cassie Jones of Georgia; 12 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Paul (Frances) Napier, Glenn (Lynne) Napier, Roger (Brenda) Napier of Florida, James (June) Napier of Ohio, Carl (Debbie) Napier of Huntington; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mrs. Eloise Dixon Walden
Mrs. Eloise Dixon Walden, 91, of Gibson entered into rest on Sept. 18, 2010, at the Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Walden was a native of Glascock County and she graduated from Spartanburg Methodist College and Georgia Teachers College. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Tri-County Retired Educators. She taught in Glascock County and Richmond County for a total of 34 years. Following her retirement, she helped her husband grow vegetables and raise livestock. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at Fellowship Baptist Church, with Rev. Tommy Harwell officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L. Gus Walden; one son, Lester Wayne Walden; and six brothers, Olin Dixon, Remer Dixon, Allen Dixon, Roy Dixon, Joe Dixon and Cecil Dixon.
Survivors include one grandchild, Tamara “Tami” Greene (Nat); three great-grandchildren, Megan May, Taylor May and Connor May; one sister, Ruby Mays of Jacksonville, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Billy Dixon, Allen Dixon, Gary Walden, Philip Walden, J.C. Walden and Frank Williford.
Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Dixon, Bob Mays and Elvin Williford.

Mr. Chester Chalker
Mr. Chester Chalker, 79, of Gibson entered into rest on Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at University Hospital, Augusta.
Mr. Chalker was a native of Glascock County, he was a farmer, a textile worker and a member of the Church of God.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at Jordon Chapel Church of God, with Rev. Stacy Williford and Rev. David Jones officiating. Interment was in the Gibson City Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Florence Usry Chalker; brother, Lamar Chalker; and sister, Attis Irby.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Reese Chalker; two sons, Louie (Ponda) Chalker of Avera, and Randy Chalker of Gibson; three daughters, Lois (Robert) Channell of Bailey N.C., Attis Keller of Thomson, and Regenia (Randy) Forehand of Swainsboro; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Quentin Weber, Erick Keller, Chris Chalker, Tony Chalker, Thomas Poole and Frank Youngblood Sr.

Mr. Edward Martin Christensen
Mr. Edward Martin Christensen of Wrens entered into rest on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at his home after a long illness.
Born in Greeley, Co., to the late Christian Martin Christensen III and the late Elizabeth Frances Trett Christensen, he was educated at Kersey High School and Colorado State University. He volunteered for the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17, after the attack on Pearl Harbor and served in the Pacific Theater. He spent his life as a rancher and farmer. He managed ranches for the Chicago Stockyards Company in Jackson, Miss., and Eleuthera, Bahamas, where he lived for 20 years. He was the owner of Fargo Charolais and Christensen Farms in Matthews. He was instrumental in the importation of Charolais cattle into the United States in the early 1960s and he raised two United States National Champion bulls. He also served as an agricultural consultant for the Italian government. He was a member of the Association of Survivors of the World War II Parachute Units and attended St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church in Louisville.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at 4 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Joan Hunter Christensen; sister, Bonnie Bunch; children, Mary Frances Christensen Conklin (Bob) of Patterson, N.Y., Anna Christensen Wasden (Wiley) of Savannah, Jane Christensen Aderhold and Richard Danek of Siler City, N.C., Christian Martin Christensen IV of Lexington, Ky., John Anthony Christensen of Savannah, and Barbara Ann Christensen; grandchildren, Tad Conklin, Tye Conklin, Tobe Pesature, Anderson Wasden, Chris Wasden, Hunt Wasden, Jason Christensen, Carmella Christensen, Chris Christensen, Sean Christensen, Matt Christensen and Blair Christensen.

Mr. George Allen Cooper
Mr. George Allen Cooper, 61, of Mitchell entered into rest on Sept. 20, 2010, at his residence.
Mr. Cooper was a native of Warren County, but lived most of his life in Dearing. He was the son of the late Leonard Cooper and the late Vera Mays Cooper. Mr. Cooper served in the U.S. Marines during Vietnam and was retired from the Iron Workers Local No. 709. He was also a Baptist by faith.
Memorial services were held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel.
Survivors include his daughters, Staci Cooper, Dearing, and Glenda Ann Stewart, Las Vegas, Nev.; son, Chad Cooper, Augusta; sisters, Edna Murphey, Dearing, and Iona Fouch, Thomson; grandchildren, Drake Stewart and Dauson Stewart.

Mr. William Reese Gladin
Mr. William Reese Gladin, 75, of Wadley entered into rest on Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
A native of Johnson County, Mr. Gladin was a son of the late Grady and Dora Scarborough Gladin. He had worked as a Jefferson County constable, a Wadley police officer, a part-time employee of Smith Funeral Home in Wadley, and was an insurance salesman with Delta Life Insurance Company. Mr. Gladin was a member of Wadley First Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at Wadley Baptist Church, with Dr. Ernest Purcell officiating. Burial followed in the family lot of the Wadley City Cemetery.
Mr. Gladin was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack Gladin.
Survivors include former wife, Mary Gladin of Wadley; children, William Jeffery Gladin (Cynthia) of Louisville, Ky., James Allen Gladin of Louisville, and Jean May (Joey) of Wadley; brother, Bobby Gladin of Douglas; sister-in-law, Audrey Gladin of Wadley; four grandchildren, Christopher Gladin, Jay Rollins, John Rollins and Abigail Gladin; one great-granddaughter, Kelly Rollins; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Albert Hill
Mr. Albert Hill, 60, of Mitchell, and formerly of McDonough and High Wycombe, UK, entered into rest on Sept. 25, 2010, at home with his family, after he fought a six-year battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at Queen of Angels Parish in Thomson. Interment will follow at the family’s farm in Mitchell.
He was co-owner of an air freight trucking company and horse rescue farm, and member of Knights of Columbus Council 6981 at Queen of Angels Parish in Thomson. He and his wife emigrated from High Wycombe, UK, in 1979 and resided in the south Atlanta area until moving to Mitchell in 2008.
He was preceded in death by Albert and Lucie Hill of High Wycombe, UK.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Margaret; daughters, Amanda of Smyrna, and Meagan Hill Copeland (Shane) of Amarillo, Texas; sons, John (Julia Huynh) of Dunwoody, and James (Adela Jackson) of Dunwoody; granddaughter, Madison of Smyrna; sisters Lydia of Harlow, UK, Natasha of High Wycombe, UK, and Ruth of Brye de Saint Amand, Belgium; and brother Henry of Prestatyn, Wales, UK.
