Mr. Robert Guy Reynolds
Mr. Robert Guy Reynolds, 78, of Louisville entered into rest on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at Jefferson Hospital.
An out-of-state memorial service will be planned at a later time by the family. Mr. Reynolds, Bob, as he liked to be called was born to Rufus Guy and Edith Scott Reynolds who preceded him in death. Born in Chicago, IL to a very ill Mother who was having her first and only child at the grand old age of 40 years back in the early 1930’s with a serious kidney infection and none of the magic drugs of today to help her, only nursing skills to pull her through. She lay near death for over six weeks before being taken home to finish her recuperation in the southern part of the state. Robert was taken home by one of her older sisters to start a regular boy’s Midwestern life and grew up working in his uncle’s lumberyard so as to be a good high school football player. He played defensive tackle on a championship team in 1950. Bob was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean era that was switched to the last occupation troops of WWII. So he and Mary Elizabeth Johns of Orlando, Fla., eloped and were married
by a Baptist minister that was holding a revival in Folkston, so as to honeymoon on Uncle Sam’s dollar in Europe, later setting up housekeeping in Naples, Italy in 1953. Bob is a 1959 Mechanical Engineering graduate of Clemson University having gotten his degree on the G.I. Bill and been retrained as an Instrument Engineer by the Babcock and Wilcox Co. that for many years owned a refractory division here in Augusta. For ten years after college he worked for the Bailey Meter division of Babcock and Wilcox Co. building electrical generating plants, paper mills, and cement plants from the Northeast to Key West, Fla. He and his wife Mary next purchased a Mountain Lodge in Little Switzerland, N.C., which they operated for 14 years. Mary and Bob wanted to raise their children outside of the big cities of the U.S. When the last child went to college, they sold their business and climbed into a motorhome, and for three years roamed the USA and stopped in Tulsa, Okla., to attend a two year Bible School. After 20 years in Tulsa they moved to Louisville when Mary inherited half of a house and farm in the Louisville area. Bob’s happiest time since coming to the area was working with his friends at the Bartow Community Center the sponsor of the Schoolhouse Players in Bartow, founded by Mr. and Mrs. John Mancin III.
Bob is survived by his wife Mary Johns Reynolds of Louisville, son Douglas D. Reynolds, and his wife Colleen of Asheville, N.C., daughters Elizabeth Reynolds Drechsler and her husband Bruce of Tulsa. Okla., and Janet L. Reynolds of Tulsa, Okla., three granddaughters Jennifer Morris, Carolyn Adickes and Kristen Drechsler, one great-grandson Cole Morris and several close cousins in Harrisburg, Ill., and Riverside, Conn.
Bob was a member of Saint Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church of Louisville and treasurer until his health failed. Mrs. Christine Payge Sessions
Mrs. Christine Payge Sessions, 83, of Decatur entered into rest on Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at Emory University, Atlanta.
Mrs. Sessions was a native of Washington County, the daughter of the late James Payge and Ada Haynes Payge. Playing a very important role in her up bringing were her Uncle B. T. and aunt Mary Payge. She later moved to Decatur where she spent most of her life. She worked and retired as a clerk with American Seal and Stamp and later worked at Peachtree Plaza Hotel. She was a member of the Shekinah Glory Tabernacle Church of Decatur.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home Chapel, Louisville, with Rev. Wallace Mason officiating. Burial was in Old Purvis Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Samuel Sessions Sr.; children, Samuel David Sessions, Linda Gail Sessions, Jerry Lee Sessions, Brenda Dean Sessions, Lisa Michelle Sessions and Marcus A. Miss Bertha L. Walker
Miss Bertha L. Walker of Wadley entered into rest on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, in Swainsboro.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at noon at Pineola Church of God in Wadley, with Elder Ronnie Harden officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her two daughters, Lateria D. Walker and Shonda S. Walker, both of Wadley; mother, Eva Roberson Walker, Wadley; two sisters, Nella (Jerry) Wadley, Swainsboro, and Eva W. Brooks, Wadley; two brothers, Roy C. (Joann) Walker, Bartow, and Larry Walker, Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were her nephews and friends of the family.

Mrs. Lovie Mae Black Amason
Mrs. Lovie Mae Black Amason, 95, of Davisboro entered into rest on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at the Washington County Regional Medical Center Extended Care Facility following a brief illness.
Mrs. Amason, a native of Jefferson County, was the daughter of the late Stephen Brady Phillips and the late Harriett Ellen McNair. Mrs. Amason was a member of Davisboro Baptist Church, Ora J. Brown Sunday School Class, and Davisboro Woman’s Club. She was a member of the Extended Care Facility’s Bell Choir.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at Davisboro Baptist Church, with Rev. Bill Moody officiating. Burial was in the Davisboro City Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, James Roger Black and James T. Amason; and a son, James William Black.
Survivors include a daughter, Geraldine B. Hodges of Davisboro; son, Robert Black of Davisboro; grandchildren, Deborah Stanley of Sandersville, David Green, Bill Black and Allison B. Cobb, all of Davisboro, Carol B. Dollar of Sandersville, Steve Black of Davisboro, Troy Black and Darlene Lord, both of Tennille; a sister, Ruth Raybourne of Johns Island, S.C.; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Pleas Braddock
Mr. Pleas Braddock, 75, of Louisville entered into rest on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at Trinity Hospital of Augusta.
Born to the late Vonnie Johnson Braddock and the late William Braddock, Mr. Braddock was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. He was a retired meat cutter working for Piggly Wiggly for many years.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, with Rev. Douglas Howard officiating
He was preceded in death by his wife, Zaydell Howard Braddock; and brother, W. J. Braddock.
Survivors include his children, Christy B. Dunbar (Randy), Augusta, and David M. Braddock; two sisters, Helen Poole (Truitt), Savannah, and Jennie Chalker; two grandchildren, Jessica Braddock Thomas (Nick), and William Dunbar III; one great-grandson, Nate Thomas; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Mr. Robert Alton “Bob” Ford Jr.
Mr. Robert Alton “Bob” Ford Jr., 48, of Sandersville died Monday August 30, 2010.
Mr. Ford was born in Bibb County and was reared in Washington County, the son of the late Robert A. Ford Sr. and the late Louise Kitchens Ford. He was employed by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office as lead investigator. Bob also worked for the Sandersville Technical Institute in security as well as a driving instructor. He operated A2Z Lawn Service and was formerly employed by the Thiele Kaolin Company.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Tennille Baptist Church, with Rev. Darell Young and Rev. Mark Jones officiating. Graveside committal services were held at 5 p.m. at the Bethel Church cemetery in Wilkinson County.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Anderson Ford; sons, Jonathan Robert Ford, Joshua Lee Ford and Brandon Green (Stephanie), all of Sandersville; sisters, Gail Ford Deen of Vidalia, Robin Ford Edge (Wayne) and Laurie Ford Perdue, both of Sandersville; nieces and nephews, Denita Turner, Shanna Sumner, Bonnie Perdue, Lauren Anderson, Ben Perdue and Kyle Anderson; mother-in-law, Betty L. Anderson of Wadley; sister-in-law, Betty Ann Anderson of Augusta; and brother-in-law, Mark Anderson of Wadley.

Mr. David Rudolph Ginn
Mr. David Rudolph Ginn, 82, of Sandersville entered into rest on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at the Washington County Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Ginn was born in Bulloch County, the son of the late William Hugh Ginn and the late Ethel Jackson Ginn. He served in the US Navy during both WWII and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Ginn began his career in the Kaolin Industry in 1953 with Champion Paper Company as an electrical engineer and retired in 1993 as an executive vice president for Thiele Kaolin Company. He is a former president of the Georgia Mining Association. Mr. Ginn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sandersville, where he was the former chairman of Deacons, as well as a long-time Sunday school teacher and a member of the church brotherhood. He was a Washington County civic leader and a member and past president of the Sandersville Rotary Club, where he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Sandersville, with Rev. Lee Lacey and Rev. Marlon Lastinger officiating. Burial was in the Brownwood Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years, Lucy Reese Ginn; son-in-law, Glynn Robinson; and stepson, Kevin Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Johnson Ginn; children, Deborah G. Cain (Tommy), Michael W. Ginn (Jean) and Nancy G. Robinson, all of Sandersville; stepdaughter, Lisa Bertoch (Terry) of Sandersville; grandchildren, Brandon Cobb (Lacie) of Louisville, Chris Robinson (Brandy) of Charlotte, N.C., Aaron Cobb (Megan) of Thomson, Laura G. Mason (John) of Atlanta, David Robinson (Lauren) of Sandersville, Heather G. Pope (Mike) and Jennifer Lucy Ginn, both of Amelia Island, Fla.; step-grandchildren, Amanda Bertoch of Athens, Alyssa Johnson of Milledgeville and Morgan Johnson of Sandersville; great-grandchildren, Carly Robinson and Baylor Cobb; and sister, Margaret Newton of Statesboro.

Mrs. Betty Irene Goddard McNeal, 82, of Wadley entered into rest on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, in the Glendale Nursing Home in Wadley.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. McNeal was a native of Canton, a daughter of the late Ben and Estelle Grover Burnette, and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and children, Elizabeth Doughty, William Hugh Goddard and Walter Dennis Goddard.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Ralph) McDuffie of Forrest Park; son, Benny (Wanda) Goddard of Jonesboro; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Geraldine W. Muns, 72, of Thomson entered into rest on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at University Hospital.
Mrs. Muns was a native of Glascock County, but had lived in Dearing and Thomson for many years. She had retired as a nurse from the V.A. Medical Center. She was a member of Wrens Church of God.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Jason Burton officiating.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, J.F. Williford and Nelle Ruth Todd Williford; husband, Carl Muns Jr.; and a brother, Louie Williford.
Survivors include her four sisters, Hazel Lott, Harlem, Rachel Roberts, Lakeland, Fla., Connie Coffman, Jefferson, and Dianne James, Thomson; a brother, Larry Williford, Winder; three nieces, Melissa Roberts, Laurie Williford and Donna Davis; and a nephew, John James Jr.

Mrs. Lois “Molly” J. Murphy, 83, of Newport News, Va., entered into rest on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 at her home.
Mrs. Murphy was the widow of James H. Murphy and the daughter of the late Ruby Carrie Hannah and Charles Emmett Williams Sr. of Avera. She spent much of her life in Hampton and Newport News, Va.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at Hampton Memorial Gardens in Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Edris Chase and Patricia Williams; and two brothers, Charles and Bill Williams.
Survivors include her son, Eric C. Smith; a sister, Jackie Cameron of Augusta; brother, James E. Williams Sr. of Summerville, S.C.; three granddaughters; and a number of nieces and nephews.
