Mrs. Willie Vause Shipes, 91, of Garfield entered into rest on Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Jenkins County Hospital.
Mrs. Shipes was born in Jefferson County, a homemaker and a Methodist.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at the Hebron cemetery in Garfield.
Survivors include her son, James Thompson of Panama City, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lillie Burton Gibbons
Mrs. Lillie Burton Gibbons entered into rest on Thursday, July 22, 2010.
Mrs. Gaddis was a native of Louisville, and a resident of Tampa, Fla., for more than 50 years. She was born April 14, 1913, to the late Pompie and Mary Johnson Burton. She married
Murray Gibbons on March 3, 1934, and they were married
73 years at the time of his death in 2008. She was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church, Fair and Honest Society, Morning Star Society, Zion Wheel Society and Reliable Social Club.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at 7 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Dwayne K. Gaddis officiating. Funeral services were also held on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church and Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Murray Gibbons; sisters, Julia Burton, Lula Gibbons and Maggie Moye.
Survivors include her daughter, Georgia Moye of Tampa, Fla.; two children reared as her own, Vonetta (Skoochee) Jamabo of Orlando, Fla., and Robert Thomas of Dayton, Ohio; brother, Isaac Burton of Brunswick; grandchild, Aletris Floyd (Eric Sr.) of Tampa, Fla.; sister-in-law, Viola Gibbons of Louisville; brother-in-law, Rev. Mr. Alvin G. Giesbrecht
Mr. Alvin G. Giesbrecht, 88, of Louisville entered into rest on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Jefferson Hospital, Louisville.
Born to the late Lena Voth and Gerhard W. Giesbrecht, he was raised and attended school in Montezuma, Kan. He married
in 1946 and in the summer of 1957, moved his family to Davisboro, where he took up the occupation of dairy farming. His retirement years were spent in Jefferson County near the Pinecrest Mennonite Church where he was a member.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at Pinecrest Mennonite Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty Ensz Giesbrecht; five sons, Gerald (Audrey), Charles (Martha), Rodney (Melva), Verle (Grace) and Jeffrey (Priscilla); two daughters, Marilyn Koehn (Leroy) and Luanne Holdeman (Lloyd); 26 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bertice Oglesby Roberts Hendley
Mrs. Bertice Oglesby Roberts Hendley, 92, of Canoochee entered into rest on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at the Glendale Nursing Home in Wadley, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Hendley was a native of Emanuel County, a homemaker, and the oldest member of Union Grove United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Eastern Star.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Union Grove United Methodist Church, with Rev. Terry Joiner and Rev. Tony Smith officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Schley Roberts and Grady Hendley; parents, Ed and Maude Wiggins Oglesby; brothers, Buddy Oglesby, J.D. Oglesby Sr., Willie Oglesby, Marlow Oglesby and Franklin Oglesby; and sisters, Pansy “Sis” Johnson, Thelma Lanier and Annie Wiggins.
Survivors include one sister, Mae Belle Johnson of Garfield.
Pallbearers were Timothy Woods, Adam Oglesby, Tom Oglesby, J.D. Oglesby, Jody Hatcher and Jeff Johnson.

She was the daughter of Adolphus and Rose Washington.

Mrs. Nettie McKinnie Moye
Mrs. Nettie McKinnie Moye entered into rest on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at University Select Hospital in Augusta.
Mrs. Moye was a native of Jefferson County, the daughter of the late Matilda Tremble and Linder McKinnie. She was married
to the late Odell Moye. She was educated in the public schools of Jefferson County and worked at Forstmann Manufacturing Company for many years where she later retired. She was a member of Pierce Grove Baptist Church, where she served on the Missionary Board and the Usher Ministry.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Pierce Grove Baptist Church at 11 a.m. and Pierce Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Johnny Ray Samson officiating.

Mr. Raymond Patrick Neveu, 73, of Monroe, N.C., entered into rest on Friday, July 23, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Neveu was born Dec. 16, 1936, in Houston, Texas, a son of the late James Roy Neveu and the late Catherine Elizabeth Scanlan Neveu.
Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at McEwen Funeral Home. Interment will be private at a later date.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Brenda Neveu.

Mr. Robert Durham Prescott, 90, of Gibson entered into rest on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Prescott was born to the late Claudia Dye and Robert P. Prescott in Jefferson County. He retired from Fort Gordon as supervisor of heavy-duty maintenance equipment .
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the James Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Stan Littleton officiating. Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum, Augusta.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Chalker Reese Prescott and Lillian Mays Prescott.
Survivors include his three children, Lorraine P. Nutter (Don), Plainsville, Mich., Marian Lamb (Tom), Wrens, and Merv Reese (Ginger), Thomson; brother, Eugene “Gene” Prescott; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Mrs. Betty Gail Cheely Blue, 50, of Sandersville entered into rest on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, in the Washington County Regional Medical Center in Sandersville.
Mrs. Blue was a lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Thomas Ray Cheely. She was a homemaker and a member of the A-H Hunting Club.

Mrs. Marjorie Hicks, 86, of Fairfax, Va., formerly of Louisville, entered into rest on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, in the Sunrise of Fair Oaks assisted living in Fairfax, Va.
A native of Gray, Mrs. Hicks was a daughter of Thomas Cleveland Morton and Julia Powell Conn Morton. She retired from the Fairfax County Public School System after many years as an elementary school teacher. For 25 years she was a member of Louisville United Methodist Church and was a member of the Jefferson Historical Society and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Graveside funeral services were held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, in the Louisville City Cemetery, with Rev. David Hibberts officiating.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond E. Hicks; and sisters, Julia Conn Harvey and Henrietta Morton.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas Raymond (Mary) Hicks of Eugene, Ore., and John Melvin (Kathy) Hicks of Amelia Island, Fla.; three daughters, Cynthia H. (Peter) Simer of Faribault, Minn., Louise H.
