Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at 2:30 p.m. at Brinson Hill Baptist Church in Wadley, with Rev. Dr. David Kemp officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his four sisters, Ida Mae Lewis, Regina Kelly, Mary Heggs and Min. Julia Mae (Gary) Dixon, all of Wadley; three brothers, Charles (Rosetta) Lewis, Scott Lewis and John Henry (Maude) Lewis, all of Wadley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Betty Kate Yarbrough Marsh
Mrs. Betty Kate Yarbrough Marsh, 70, of Davisboro entered into rest on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, at the Medical College of Georgia.
Mrs. Marsh was a native of Washington County, the daughter of the late J.T. Yarbrough and the late Bernice Louise Cowart Yarbrough. She was retired from Proctor and Gamble as a production supervisor and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Keener officiating. Burial was in Davisboro City Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Marsh; son, Derrick Marsh; and brother, Frankie Yarbrough.
Survivors include her sons, Greg Marsh of Davisboro, and Pete Marsh (Leslie) of Leesburg; grandchildren, Misty Kate Marsh, Jessica Deis (Brian) and Ann Marie Brown; five great-grandchildren; and brothers, Thomas Yarbrough (Helen) of Augusta, Wiley Yarbrough, Charlie Trippi Yarbrough (Faye) and Roy Yarbrough (Linda), all of Davisboro.

Mr. George “Sam Bo” “Gator” “Lightning” Robinson
Mr. George “Sam Bo” “Gator” “Lightning” Robinson of Louisville entered into rest on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at his residence.
Mr. Robinson was a native of Jefferson County, the widower of the late Sadie Robinson. He was a member of Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and on the Usher’s Union until his health failed. He was a member of the Fair and Honest Society, BSF&T; Society and the Lone Star Society. Mr. Robinson was employed with the city of Louisville for over 38 years when he retired in 2004.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church, with Pastor Rev. Cecil Dunlap officiating. Burial was in the Lone Star Society Cemetery.
Survivors include his children, Eunice Mathis, Annie L. Mrs. Johnson, a native of Wrens, was member of Lofton AME Church and attended Old Storm Branch Baptist Church and Bethel AME Church.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Bethel AME Church, with Rev. Mark Pierson officiating. Burial was in Westover Memorial Park.

Mrs. Jane Norton Jones, 75, of Wrens entered into rest on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at University Hospital.
Mrs. Jones was a lifelong resident of Wrens.
After a private service, with Dr. Stan Littleton officiating, interment followed in Wrens Memorial Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma Elizabeth Black Norton and Floyd L. Norton; three brothers, David Norton, Richard Norton, Sidney Norton; and two sisters, Frances Norton and Nancy N. Wren.
Survivors include her daughter, Laura Morris of Florence, S.C.; siblings, Gloria N. Craft, Dorothy Lee Norton, Ben Walker Norton and Spence C. Norton; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Jewel Marie Willie Ketchin
Mrs. Jewel Marie Willie Ketchin, 87, entered into rest on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, after an extended illness surrounded by family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a time to be announced in Louisville.
A native of Louisville, and a longtime resident of Atlanta, Mrs. Ketchin had resided at Budd Terrace, Wesley Woods Retirement Center, in Atlanta since 2002. Born Nov. 11, 1923, in Louisville, to Vermell and Forest Willie, Mrs. Ketchin graduated in three years from Georgia State College for Women, now Georgia College and State University, in Milledgeville in 1943. While there, she majored in English and served on the staff of the yearbook and was editor for the school newspaper, The Colonnade. She was a fellow staff member and English major of Mary Flannery O’Connor. On Nov. 1, 1943, she married
Samuel Cathcart Ketchin of Louisville. They later moved to Charleston, S.C., and then Atlanta. While her husband taught English and Bible at Georgia Tech, she was a full-time mother and homemaker. In 1964 she returned to school at Georgia State College in Atlanta to earn a master’s degree in library science. From 1964 until she retired in 1989, she served as an elementary school librarian and media specialist at Skyland Elementary School, Atlanta, the Tucker branch of DeKalb County Library System, and as superintendent of the DeKalb County System.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Jane Augusta Ketchin Bryl in 1999.
Survivors include children, Anne Forest Ketchin of Mosca, Colo., Susan Cathcart Ketchin Edgerton of Pittsboro, N.C., and Bo Selvans Giaison (Samuel Cathcart Ketchin III) of Decatur; granddaughter, Susan Catherine Edgerton of Durham, N.C.; sister, Rose Vermell (Ooky) Ogilvy of Lexington, Mich.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her memory be made to the charity of one’s choice or to the Humane Society of Georgia.
Mr. Ronald “Ron” Eugene Landers
Mr. Ronald “Ron” Eugene Landers, 62, of Gibson entered into rest on Jan. 24, 2011.
Mr. Landers was a lifelong resident of the CSRA and was the son of the late Jack Dempsey Landers and the late Ruby Landers. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War and was a forklift operator for W.S. Badcock Corp.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mike Sutphin officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy S. Landers, Gibson; daughter, Paula Williams, Grovetown; son, Paul Rogers, Gibson; brother, Ray Landers, Hephzibah; sister, Dale Shirley; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Jimmy Lindsey Sr.
Mr. Jimmy Lindsey Sr., 68, of Tennille entered into rest on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at Washington County Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Lindsey was born in Washington County, the son of the late Jessie L. Lindsey and the late Trudie Kitchens Lindsey. He retired as the city superintendent for the City of Tennille after 41 years of service. He also formerly worked as a part time police officer for the city. Mr. Lindsey was a member of the Olive Hill Baptist Church and a founding member of the Oconee Hunting Club.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at 2 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. L.T. Logue officiating. Burial was in Zeta cemetery in Tennille.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Wanda Elaine B. Mr. Ernest Precious Moore
Mr. Ernest Precious Moore of Augusta entered into rest on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011.
Mr. Moore was born Nov. 12, 1945, in West Palm Beach, Fla., to the late Emma Whitfield and Homer Moore. In 1960, his family migrated to Wrens, where he joined Ways Grove Baptist Church. He was drafted into the U.S. Army where he actively served in the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge. Mr. Moore was an entrepreneur, owning a truck wash, an 18-wheel truck and a record shop.
Funeral services were held at W.H. Mays Mortuary Chapel on Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Clarence E. Grier officiating. Interment was in Ways Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Wrens.
Survivors include his three children, Ernest E. Lowe of Thomson, Daphne E. Fuller of Fayetteville, N.C., and Brandon D. Moore of Korea; six grandchildren; four siblings, Martha Tolbert of Killen, Texas, Lover (Ervin) McDonald, Gwendolyn (George) Morton and Eugene Moore, all of Miami, Fla.; four nieces; nine nephews; cousins, Algie Hewitt and Alice Jasper; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Catherine A. Neal of Sandersville entered into rest on Monday, Jan. 24, 2011.

Mrs. Geraldine “Jerry” Peel
Mrs. Geraldine “Jerry” Peel of North Augusta, S.C., entered into rest on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at the Medical College of Georgia.
Mrs. Peel moved to North Augusta in 1961, from Gibson. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for over 35 years. She and her late husband owned and operated La-Fran’s Drive-In, as well as Buck and Jerry’s Place. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Joyful Sounds at Immanuel Baptist and was a senior regent at the Savannah Moose Lodge. Mrs. Peel was voted Most Unforgettable at the 2010 Miss St. John Towers Pageant.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at Immanuel Baptist Church, with Rev. Jimmy Coyle and Pastor Allen Cantrell officiating. Interment was in Pineview Memorial Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee “Buck” Peel Jr.; parents, William Henry and Lucy Hendrix Marsh; three brothers, Clayton Marsh, Elbert Buddy Conley Marsh and Johnny Joe Marsh; and a sister, Evelyn Marsh.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Edward Peel (Dorothy) of West Palm Beach, Fla., Richard “Red” Peel of New Ellenton, S.C., and Elbert Cardell Peel (Pat) of Petticoat Junction; four daughters, Kay Marshall Johnson (Jerry) of Bastrop, Texas, Alva M. Rozar (Cliff) of Ballwin, Mo., Linda Diane Walls (Tommy) of Aiken, S.C., and Brenda Nogueira of North Augusta, S.C.; a brother, James Lamar Marsh of Statesboro; three sisters, Willie Mae West (Matthew) of Savannah, Annie Lucile Lawson (Waymon) of Statesboro, and Lucy Jane Baker (Robert) of Savannah; 23 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mildred Thompson Scott
Mrs. Mildred Thompson Scott, 86, of Statesboro entered into rest on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility.
Mrs. Scott was a longtime resident of Bulloch County and was an active member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church. Mrs. Scott worked for many years at Sea Island Bank and Georgia Southern University for 20 years in the comptroller’s office. Mrs. Scott served for many years as an advisor for Beta Sigma Phi.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Statesboro First Baptist Church, with Dr. John Waters and Dr. H. William Perry officiating. Burial was in the Wrens Memorial cemetery at 3 p.m.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas C. (Charlene) Scott of Fair Play, S.C., and Edward A. (Rachel) Scott of Powder Springs; six grandchildren, Zak (Tonya) Jackson, Jennifer (Todd) Fink, Sam (Kerri) Scott, Carrie (Jon) Rafferty, Matthew Scott and Amanda Scott; seven great-grandchildren, Issac Fink, Patrick Fink, Alec Fink, Joshua Jackson, Alorah Scott, Haylee Scott and Ava Rafferty; and many nieces and nephews.
