Sandra O’Kelley Gregg
Sandra O’Kelley Gregg, of Covington, died April 1, 2006, at the age of 57.
She was the daughter of the late J.M. and Nettie Rose Towler O’Kelley, and the step-daughter of the late Betty Stephens O'Kelley. Mrs. Gregg was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, vacationing at the beach and spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Gregg is survived by her husband: Dave Gregg; daughters and son-in-law: Christy and Beta Burt, Jenny and James McKinnon; grandchildren: David Lynn Burt, Ashton Leah McKinnon, William Gregg McKinnon all of Covington; sister and brother-in-law: Linda and Ed Cardiff, Snellville; brother and sister-in-law: Ronnie and Carolyn O’Kelley, Covington; several nieces, nephews and many special friends.

Billy Norman Davis Sr.
Billy Norman Davis, Sr., 63 of Monroe died on April 19, 2006. He was born in Walton County on Aug. 10, 1939 to the late Allen Lumpkin Davis and the late Eula Estelle Jackson Davis. He was preceded in death by his sister: the late Grace Morris and brother: the late Larry Davis.
Surviving are: son and daughter-in-law: Billy Norman and Carol Davis Jr., Athens; sister: Elizabeth Luke, Bogart; brother: Donald Davis, Statham and four grandchildren.
A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday April 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Russell Davis officiating.

Ruby J. Kines
Ruby J. Kines, 85, of Loganville died April 21, 2006.
A native of Walton County, Mrs. Kines was a daughter of the late Thomas Lant Guthrie, Sr. and Lucy Still Guthrie. A homemaker, she was the widow of Kal H. Kines and was a member of Sharon Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held April 23, 2006 in Sharon Baptist Church. The Rev. Horace Parr and the Rev. Glenn Stephens officiated and interment was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gary Greene, Tony Greene, Glen McCart, Jeff Guthrie, Vernon Petit and Justin Starrett.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law: Gail and Kenneth Sims of Monroe and Connie and David Williams of Bishop; sister: Frances Greene of Loganville; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Sharon Baptist Church.

Vickie B. Waters, 39, of Bethlehem died April 18, 2006.
A native of Walton County, she was a daughter of Albert Bradshaw and the late Josie Rowe Bradshaw. A homemaker, she was a member of the New Beginnings Church.
Funeral services were held April 21, 2006 at the residence of Elijah and Elaine Rowe. The Rev. Jason Rowe and the Rev. Roy Turk officiated and interment was in the Clegg Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband: Howard Waters; daughter: Brandi Waters and Ricky Waters both of Bethlehem; sister: Rita Moon of Bethlehem; brothers: William Bradshaw of Bethlehem, Arnold Bradshaw of Oglethorpe and Michael Bradshaw of Winder; nieces and nephews.

Jeff Hester, 43 of Monroe, died on April 18, 2006. He was born in Clarke County on July 31, 1962 to Eugene Hester and Linda Weaver Hicks.
He was preceded in death by his sister: the late Tonya Layne Hester; grandparents: the late Thomas and Martha Hester, the late Winton and Virginia Weaver.
Surviving are: daughter: Ashley Hester, Monroe; parents: Eugene Hester, Monroe and Linda Weaver Hicks, Loganville; sister: Stacy Kitterman, Snellville.
Funeral services were held on Friday April 21 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Malcom officiating. Interment followed at Hill Haven Cemetery.

Lavon McCloud
Lavon McCloud, 52 of Social Circle died on April 13, 2006. He was born in Troup County on July 27, 1953 to the late Horace Lavon McCloud and the late Myrtle England McCloud.
Surviving are: daughter and son-in-law: Shannon and Wesley Johnson, Adairsville; son and daughter-in-law: Chad and Mandi McCloud, Monroe; brother and sister-in-law: Larry and Ruth McCloud, Ohatchee, AL; fianc’ee: Connie Sikes, Monroe; five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on April 15 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Ghann officiating. Interment followed at Hill Haven cemetery.

Maria DeNoronha Gallman
Maria DeNoronha Gallman, 83, of Monroe, GA died April 13, 2006.
A native of Casacais, Portugal, She was an artist whose professional name was Maria DeNorohna received a degree in Art & Design from Hunter College in New York.
While a resident of Atlanta, she was an art instructor at Oglethorpe University and later an Asst. Professor of Art at Atlanta Clark University.
She served as Chairman of the Arts & Culture for the Georgia Partners of the Americas with Pernambuca, Brazil.
She resided in Palm Coast, FL for several years where she became a certified iconographer. Her paintings are in permanent collections of Oglethorpe University, College of Charleston and Metropolitan Gallery, , Recife, Brazil.
She has exhibited in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY, Seton Hall University, Columbia University, Fordham University and National Art Gallery. NY.
She was a member of numerous Art & Cultural Societies and Fraternities both here and abroad. She has been listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Art and Who’s Who in Education.
Funeral services were held April 17, 2006 in the chapel of Arthur Bowick Funeral Home. The Rev. Earl Goode and the Rev. Frank Brock officiated. Interment was in Westlawn Memorial Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, David Gallman; three stepchildren: Sharon and Bobby Bramblett of Stone Mountain; Chris and Jean Gallman of Loganville and Gary and Terry Gallman of Maxton, NC; one brother: Henry and Lucy Madruga of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 10 step-grandchildren, 7 step great-grandchildren, 3 nieces, 1 nephew.

Michael Coleman, 56 of Monroe died April 10, 2006.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Peggy Coleman; son: Todd Coleman and father: Ray Lee Coleman.

A graveside memorial service was held Friday, April 14 at 2pm at Eastview cemetery in Monroe.

Nancy S. Lightfoot
Nancy S. Lightfoot, 70, of Monroe died April 4,2006.
A native of Orange County, FL. she was the daughter of the late John Henry Snow and Anna Kate (Katie) Dickens Snow. She grew up in Walton County and had lived in Conyers most of her adult life.
The widow of Ronald H. Lightfoot, she was a retired employee of the DeKalb County Board of Education, a member of the Monroe Pilot Club, the Monroe Golf and Country Club where she was an avid golfer and the Monroe First United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held April 10,2006 in the Monroe First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Margaret Adams officiated and interment was in Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Terry Saharski, Michael Malcolm, Danny Crowder, Dale Thompson, Major Snow and Scott Benson.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Sandra and Mark Benson of Dunwoody; sons and daughters-in-law: David and Wendy Lightfoot of Forest, VA. and Greg and Elsie Lightfoot of Crown Point, IN.; brother and sister-in-law: Charles and Betty Snow of monroe; 4 grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Vira Anthony Bowden
Mrs. Vira Anthony Bowden, 91, of Social Circle died, Tuesday, April 11, 2006. Mrs. Bowden was born Aug. 18, 1914 in Covington to the late Owen and Lizzie Miller Anthony. She moved to Social Circle after her marriage to the late Felton E. “Pete” Bowden, where her family farmed for many years.
Mrs. Bowden worked for Bibb Manufacturing and later retired from Ronthor Plastics in 1978. She loved working in her yard raising flowers an listening to Gospel Music.
Mrs. Bowden is survived by: sons and daughters-in-law: Jerry and Jackie Bowden, Social Circle, Tony and Sandra Bowden, Covington, Don and Brenda Bowden, Social Circle, Jon and Cathy Bowden, Jackson,; daughter and son-in-law: Sue and Harold Malcolm, Social Circle; brother: Owen Anthony Jr., Covington; she is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bowden were held at 2 p.m. Friday April 14 at Sewell United Methodist Church with interment in the Sewell Church Cemetery, the Rev. Richard Harris, the Rev. Jimmy Edwards and the Rev. Danny Standard officiating.
