Floyd "Red" Wallis
Floyd "Red" Wallis, age 60, of McDonough, Georgia died October 6, 2007. He was born
in Walnut Ridge, Arizona to the late Ivan Alfred and Chloie Levada McElwey Wallis. He served our country with the United States Army. He enjoyed camping, fixing things that were not broken, watching westerns, and water skiing. Most important to him was helping others and serving God.
Mr. Wallis is survived by his spouse, Barbara Wallis of Blue Eye, Missouri; sons, Dane and Stephanie, Eric Johnson, both of McDonough, Kody Wallis and Kaydon Wallis, both of South Carolina; grandchildren, Keri Wallis, Dalton Wallis; siblings, Darlene Mitchell of Morris, Oklahoma, Lela Holder and Bill Wallis, both of Walnut Ridge, Arizona, Troy Wallis of Hoxie, Arizona, Rhoda Smith of Walnut Ridge, Arizona, Ivan Wallis of Portia, Arizona, and Lloyd Wallis of Perryville, Arizona.
Funeral Services were held October 8 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Statham and Rev. Dan McKay officiating. Interment followed in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Shelley M. Baker
Shelley M. Baker, age 34, of Hampton, Georgia died October 11, 2007. She was born
in Riverdale and was a devoted wife and loving mother who will always be in the hearts of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Deborah F. Grizzard Adamson.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband, Dwight Anthony Baker; daughter, Angel M. Baker; son, Jacob A. Baker, all of Hampton; father, James S. Adamson of Locust Grove; brother, Brad Adamson of Covington; sister, Kerri Williams of Locust Grove; two nephews and four nieces.
Funeral services were held October 14 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Pastor Kirk and Rev. Johnny Greer officiating. Interment Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Marvin Wayne Miller
Mr. Marvin Wayne Miller, age 43, of Stockbridge, Georgia died October 10, 2007. He was born
in Fulton County and was a mechanic on cars and small engines. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his father, John L. Miller, Sr and a sister, Elizabeth Rowland.
Survivors are his mother, Mary Evelyn Ellis Miller of Stockbridge; sister, Mary Frances and Edward McMillan of Hampton; brothers, John L. and Sandy Miller, Jr. of Locust Grove and Tom Edward Miller of Stockbridge; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Miller were held October 13 at McDonough City Cemetery
with Mr. Frankie Roberts officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Wendy Evan Humphreys
Ms. Wendy Evan Humphreys, age 51, of McDonough, Georgia died October 12, 2007. Wendy was born
in Fulton County. She was employed with Wal-Mart; she enjoyed her grandson, friends and bingo.
Survivors are her children, April Foster of Griffin and Shawn Hood of Bethlehem; grandson, Ethan Foster of Grffin; father, William H. Humphreys; mother, Joann Lindsey; siblings, Billy Humphreys, Wayne Humphreys and Wade Dooley; Chalsie Roper, Phyllis Poolos and Angelia Winter; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held October 16 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Pastor David Riley officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
John Charles Kemmerling, III
Mr. John Charles “Jack” Kemmerling, III, age 63, of Griffin, Georgia died October 15, 2007. He was born
in Berwyn, Illinois the son of the late Elouise May Schwartz and John Charles Kemmerling, II. He was employed with 20 plus years of service with Fuji. He enjoyed his family, NASCAR and was a grandpa to many.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kemmerling of Griffin; daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly Ann and Robert Boyd Raupach of Stockbridge and Dawn Elouise and Charles Brentson Parish of Stockbridge; grandchildren, Austin, Charles and Robert all of Stockbridge; siblings Penelope and Robert Stevens of Niceville, Florida, Raymond and Betsy Kemmerling of Middleburg, Florida; uncle, Donald and Gay Kemmerling of Punta Gorda, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass for Mr. Kemmerling will be Saturday, October 20 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Deacon Pat Gillespie officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Those who wish in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Heart Association. Edith H. Fleming
Edith H. Fleming, age 92, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went home to be with the Lord on October 16, 2007. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in McDonough where she served faithfully until her health declined at age 90. She served as the Homebound Director and was always involved in missions. She spent 39 years employed as the church secretary for Orchard Knob Baptist Church in Atlanta. She was a volunteer for the Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, The Red Cross, and was also a member of the auxillary at Southern Regional Hospital. She was a devoted mother and homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and serving others. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Fleming.
She is survived by sons, Dwight (Dianna) Fleming of McDonough, and Barry (Kathy) Fleming of Dawsonville; nine grandchildren, Matt (Emily) Fleming, Rachael (Troy) Satterfield, Ryan Pounds, Shawn Pounds, Lauren Pounds, Tyler Fleming, Neal Fleming, Nickole Perkins and Preston Fleming; four great-grandchildren, Caden and Hayes Fleming and Teagan and Taylor Satterfield.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 18 at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Al O'Quinn and Rev. Clarence Cannon officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 17 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Elanda Lee Larson Turner
Mrs. Elanda Lee Larson Turner, age 57, of Locust Grove, Georgia died September 29, 2007. She enjoyed arts and crafts, painting, baking and was a seamstress and interior decorator. Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her father, Seamon Larson.
Survivors are her loving husband, Johnny Turner of Locust Grove; children, Pammie Gordon of Locust Grove and Ronald Leslie of Virginia; stepchildren, Vance Turner and Tanish Weeks, both of Chicago, Illinois; mother, Gertrude Larson of Ohio; grandchildren, Celeste Gordon, Hannah Gordon, Obadiah Gordon and Mark Weeks; sisters, Maggie Johnson of Ohio and Mary Jackson of North Carolina; brother, Seamon Larson, Jr., of North Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Mrs. Turner were held October 6 at the Big Bethel AME Church in Atlanta with Rev. DwightAndrews officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
