Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Boyd Bass, 81, died Tuesday morning (April 15, 2003) at Satilla Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was a native of Willacoochee but had resided most of her life in Ware County. She was a daughter of the late Cleveland A. Grover and Minnie Wheless Grover and was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia Lee Giddens and a brother, Lacy Grover.
She was a former employee of Rollins Dress Shop and was a member of Carswell Ave. Christian Church.
The survivors include a daughter, Debra Jo Ann Boyd Hersey (husband Gary) of Waycross; a son, Travis Boyd (wife Cindy) of Waycross; a sister-in-law, Lula Grover of Waycross; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday night from 7 until 9 o'clock.

Mr. Rufus Pittman, 73, died Wednesday morning (April 23, 2003) at St. Vincent's Medical Center following a long illness.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. He was a son of the late Tom Pittman and Delila Pittman.
Mr. Pittman was a retired plant superintendent with Waycross CoCoa Bottling Company. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
The survivors include his wife, Quinell (Tootsie) Pittman of Waycross; three daughters, Debora Mobley, Nancy Sapp, and Lynn Henderson (husband Darran) all of Waycross; a son, Russell Pittman of Waycross; four grandchildren, Kelly Skumanick of Navarre, FL, Brian Thomas of Waynesville, Brandon Henderson and Darran Henderson both of Waycross; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Annie Mae Thomas of Waycross, Tommie Arnold of Jacksonville, FL; a brother, Hamp Pittman of Gainesville, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday night from 6 until 8 o'clock.

Mrs. Reaunette Keen Reed, 79, died Sunday (April 20, 2003) at Satilla Regional Medical Center following a short illness.
She was a native of Savannah but had resided most of her life in Waycross. She was married
to the late James Nelson Reed and was a daughter of the late William Ashburn Keen and Margaret Marie Banks Keen.
Mrs. Reed was a member of Crawford Street Baptist Church.
The survivors include a daughter, Nell Beverly (husband Paul) of Waycross; two grandchildren, Kevin Beverly and Brandi Beverly both of Waycross; a sister, Margie Miles of Waycross; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (April 22, 2003) at Oakland Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Monday night from 6 until 8 o'clock.

The survivors include his aunt, Dottie Lewis of Waycross; a cousin, Sandy Mercer of Waycross; an uncle, Tony Lewis of Waycross; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Barney Rowell, 73, died Friday morning (April 18, 2003) at his residence in Blackshear after an extended illness.
He is a native of Ware County, and a lifelong resident of the Waycross area. He was a farmer, and he operated Satilla Produce stand by Farr's Furniture. He was also affiliated with the Baptist faith.
He is the son of the late John Wesley Rowell and Rita Bell White Rowell.
Mr. Rowell is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dixon Rowell of Blackshear; five children, Linda Jordan (husband Silas) of Dixie Union, Jennifer King (husband Elmond) of Dixie Union, Barney Harold Rowell (wife Brigitte) of Jesup, Timmy Rowell of Blackshear, and Pamela Montgomery (husband James L.) of Hobe Sound, FL; a sister, Eva Mae King of Dixie Union; a brother, Robert Rowell of Waycross; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lucille Taylor Corbitt, 68, died Sunday night (April 20, 2003) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
She was a native of Appling County, but she lived most of her life in Waycross. She was a homemaker and a member of Hargraves Chapel in Millwood.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Beetie Taylor; her husband, Donnie Roy Corbitt; and two daughters, Tammy and Diane Corbitt.
Mrs. Corbitt is survived by two brother-in-laws, Cicero Corbitt (wife Viola) of Waycross, and Mason Wilbert Corbitt of Brunswick; a nephew, Rev. Melvin Burch (wife Lounell) of Axson; numerous nieces and nephews; and a good friend, Gene Byrd of Waycross.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday (April 23, 2003) at Hargraves Chapel. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Music Funeral Home.

Mr. Alex W. Cason, 83, died Tuesday night (April 15, 2003) at Hospice of Golden Isles in Brunswick following an extended illness.
He was a native of Bacon County and was a lifelong resident of Ware and Pierce County. He was a son of the late Hansel H. Cason and Clitha L. Nippier Cason and was preceded in death by four brothers, Lee Cason, J.M. (Pete) Cason, Lonnie J. Cason and William W. Cason.
Mr. Cason was retired from CSX Railroad and served in the Army during World War II.
The survivors include his wife, Ida B. Cason of Hoboken; a daughter, Cheryl D. Carter (husband Tommy) of Hoboken; five nephews, D. A. Cason and Tony L. Cason both of Waycross, Jim Cason, Mickey Cason and Larry Cason all of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a niece, Ann Cason of Jacksonville, Florida.

Mrs. Allie Brymer Johnson, 84, died Wednesday (April 16, 2003) at McDuffie Regional Medical Center in Thomson.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Valley Wells, Texas, April 18, 1918, and had lived a number of years in Waycross before moving to Thomson in 1994. Before her retirement, she was a bookkeeper for King-Nunn Firestone. She was a member of Second Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death in 1978 by her husband, Charlie Lee Johnson; her parents, John Harvey Brymer and Minnie Fitzgerald Brymer; five brothers, John Harvey Brymer, Jr., William C. Brymer, Lawrence S. Brymer, James D. Brymer, and Charlie C. Brymer; and three sisters, Florence Brymer Goodwin, Iris Brymer Brown, and Ima Jean Brymer Johnson.
The survivors include two sons, Charles E. Johnson (wife Bonnie Patrick Johnson) of Thomson, Rev. Richard B. Johnson (wife Cheryl Campbell Johnson) of Alma; a sister, Joyce B. Riley of Corpus Christi, TX; five grandchildren, Richard Brad Johnson (wife Jill) of Flowery Branch; Christopher Ryan Johnson (wife Lorrie) of Henderson, NV, William Bryce Johnson (wife Shanna) of Alma, Thomas DeWayne Johnson (wife Lisa) of Thomson, Walter Lee Johnson of Thomson; five great grandchildren, Ansley Eden Johnson of Flowery Branch, Robbie Heeg of Henderson, NV, Brycen Pace Johnson of Alma, Rebecca Lynne Johnson and Shirah Leigh Johnson both of Thomson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Oakland cemetery with her son, Rev. Richard B. Johnson officiating. The family will be receiving friends at Curtis Funeral Home in Thomson Saturday (April 19, 2002) from 7 until 9 o'clock and Sunday (April 20, 2002) at Music Funeral Home from 7 until 9 o'clock.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and a family friend, Sam Pierce. If so desired, memorials, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Second Baptist Church, 301 Tomberlin Road, Waycross, GA 31503.

Mr. D. C. Wynn, Jr., 75, died Tuesday morning (Feb. 4, 2003) at his residence after a brief illness.
He was a native of Moultrie, but he has lived most of his life in Waycross. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He also worked for Padgett Pontiac for 47 years and retired from Crosby Cadillac as a body repairman and painter.
He is the son of the late D. C. Wynn, Sr. and Madie Cecille Eaton Wynn.
Mr. Wynn is survived by his wife, Barbara Barnes Wynn of Waycross; a son, D. C. Wynn III (wife Glenda) of Blackshear; a daughter, Cathy Chancey of Nahunta; four grandchildren, Dee Dee Carter (husband Chris) of Blackshear, Kori Wynn of Blackshear, Dan Chancey of California, and Nicole Chancey of Nahunta; and a sister, Sylvia Leach of Alexandria, VA.
